The note can be found on the top floor of the house in Orwell Orchards on a dresser.

-October 14, 2077-

Ian went to Charleston today to ask for another loan. The bank turned him down again. I'm not sure what we'll do now.

We knew this year might be rough, but I doubt we can even pick a hundred bushels from the trees outside. Those oil traps didn't do much to stop our moth problem, and we can't afford enough insecticide without some serious help.

I don't know where we can get that kind of money. No matter what this fall's crop is mostly gone.
