Ian Jackson was the overseer of Vault 32 who perished during the rebellion in his Vault circa 2294.

Background[]

Like other overseers of both Vaults 32 and 33, he was a junior executive of Vault-Tec and a graduate of Bud Askins' executive assistant training program "Bud's Buds,"[1] kept in suspended animation in Vault 31. In the 23rd century, he was reactivated before Betty Pearson and assigned as the new overseer of 32. During his tenure, the dwellers somehow learned that they were actually a part of a social experiment, treated as a breeding pool by the "Management" in Vault 31. The truth tore the Vault apart, with Jackson captured and tortured by the rebels before he was strangled with a cable in his office.[2]

The resulting civil war destroyed the Vault, with the dwellers killing each other, committing suicide, or otherwise wasting away. Lee Moldaver later assumed the guise of a Vault 32 overseer, using the intra-Vault messaging system to notify Hank MacLean of Jackson's passing (using the excuse of a crop blight) and introducing herself as the new overseer.[3] The charade worked, and Jackson's body and fate weren't found out until later, by Norm and Chet, exploring the wrecked Vault.[2] His remains were eventually removed when Vault 32 was cleaned up for resettlement.

Appearances[]

Ian Jackson appears only in the Fallout TV series.
