canon is for catholics. to me design docs are ancient scrolls and cut content is genies
i am writing a book called Fallout and the Occult, a clinical examination of matters too abstract or metafictional to have a home on the wiki. i'm told george miller claims he made the Mad Max movies inconsistent because he wanted fans to treat it as a legend rather than a documentary. the fallout games have no such insulation, so the only explanation for their inconsistencies is the layering of parallel universes upon one another. by 76 this subtext is so heavy it would be willfully ignorant to pretend not to understand the implication. a man went through a portal and landed in a cancelled fallout game. the quantum inverter is running and the containment field has failed. this is also why dogmeat is a time lord. the cafe of broken dreams is the nexus where the wastelands meet, and it is through here that ranger palabras wandered with his son in search of the krivbeknih. wastelanders opens on a shot of bodies hanging from the space station designed for van buren. in this ebook i will
Nukapedia Patroller mission statement[]
Content Moderator agenda[]
actual statement of values[]
i have never met two fallout fans with an identical understanding of the canon
i have never met a fallout fan who did not profoundly misunderstand something about the setting
i have never met a fallout fan who never misjudged or disrespected the creative intent of lore they enjoyed
i have never met a fallout fan who knew enough about the world to understand every theme that has been expressed through fallout lore
i have never met a fallout fan who could not benefit from applying and consuming more literary analysis
i have never met a fallout fan who did not know something about the setting, intellectually or intuitively, that i did not know
fallout is a flawed fictional setting that exists to serve stories & you shouldn't let fallout fans step on your creativity by citing lore minutiae they probably don't even understand.
consistency, creativity, context, and philosophy are all lenses which we should all keep on-hand. you will see contradictory things through them, or disagree with others about what you're looking at, and that is good and cool.
knowing all of the lore only makes you insane. let creativity and compassion guide your approach. ☢

excerpts from an article on Adamowicz[]
"Although he worked in the farthest, darkest corner of Bethesda Softworks, Adam’s influence stretched across the length and breadth of the studio." "It was Adam who taught me that characters were more affecting with unexpected nuance: the horrifying is more horrible when infused with comedy; the disgusting all the more stomach-churning when mixed with beauty."
"When designing an original gun, for instance, Adam didn’t focus his research on the study of other guns, but on tesla coils, industrial power tools, or lab equipment."
"As I worked to translate Adam’s concepts into three-dimensional models, I showed him my works-in-progress. I wanted his artistic feedback, of course, but mostly, I wanted his approval. His responses surprised me. He was always positive and brimming with nice things to say, and yet I wasn’t always certain he loved what I had done. That bothered me at first, but as the years went by, I came to understand that it was not so much the faithful reproduction of his work that moved Adam, but my riffing on his idea."
"If he could see that his work inspired me, Adam was happy."
"We didn’t touch his desk. I’m not sure if there was even a discussion about it (though I suspect our head of game development, Todd Howard, had something to do with it). We just left it alone, like a holy place, somewhere to worship at the feet of creativity."
"Time stretched by, and his room remained wallpapered with his art; incredible as always, bursting with color and inspiration—except now, nothing was changed or added. The lights stayed off. The only difference was that his fish tank of plant-growth had become a choked mess, one which no one bothered to clean up, since it was agreed that this was probably what he would have wanted anyway."- Bethesda artist Jonah Lobe on Adam Adamowicz. you really think a fallout dev would do that? just go to work and write crass caricatures of marginalized people?
"Killing Biff as well will not get the player character out of it - there is an infinite number of brothers, all named Biff and with shotguns and conservative ideas about premarital sex."
Sorceress: "So, you're lying to them?"
Munch: "Pfft, semantics. That old world is long gone. There's just us to rebuild all this shit. Why waste time on tellin' 'em how things used to be? I intend to spice it up. Let these kids be amazed by possibility. Those are the minds I want rebuilding this world."
-(Munch's dialogue)
Dane:"{160}{}{. . . zombies are a disgrace to God, you know.}" -(Dane's dialogue)
Child of Atom: "Ugh. Ghouls. Unfit for Atom's grace." -(Nucleus Child of Atom dialogue)
