Behind the scenes[]
- Pop Rocks are a real carbonated candy, first released in 1976, which fizz in one's mouth as they dissolve.
- Their explosive potential is a reference to the urban myth that eating Pop Rocks and drinking cola could release enough carbonation to make a kid's stomach explode.
- In a popular version of the myth, the character "Little Mikey" (played by living actor John Gilchrist) of an iconic "Life" cereal commercial is said to have died this way.
