Gail Meyer

Gail Meyer was a citizen of Huntersville who was quarantined and became an unwitting test subject.

Background[]

Gail Meyer, much like her fellow townspeople, lived in rather impoverished area, and was overjoyed when the town "won that grant" from the government in March 2075. Unbeknownst to the town's citizens, West Tek was planning to use the town as test site for their FEV research. At a nearby farm, the new water lines were tied into the irrigation system around June.^[1] A research center was being built nearby, and the increased traffic in town encouraged Gail to open a bakery.^[2] In December of that year, Gail broke ground for her bakery and West Tek began paying farmers like Thomas McDevitt for testing rights on their farms.^[3]

By February 2076, West Tek had started their experiments on the townspeople and some began to fall ill. Thomas McDevitt then decided to go to their research center and see if their doctors could help. Traffic in town severely decreased, though Gail reasoned it wasn't so bad since she wouldn't have to pay the bakery construction team since they fell sick too.^[4] By May, West Tek doctors arrived but things got even worse for the town,^[5] and by September the effects of FEV became even more pronounced, including skin turning green and body structure change. West Tek doctors issued a mandatory stay-at-home order for the residents of the town, enforced by gas-masked guards stationed in town.^[6]

In November, Gail heard Veronica Benchley scream and then a gunshot rang out. She then tried to grab her husband's old double barrel shotgun, though wasn't able to lift it easily, as she began to feel weak and developed a fever.^[7] At some point after, she didn't have the strength to get up out of bed and could barely type on her computer.^[8]
