The Brooks tumbleweed ranch is a location in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.
Layout[]
Situated north of the remains of Highway 95 and slightly northwest of the Horowitz farmstead, the ranch consists of a kitchen, living room, storage area, and a bedroom. A cattle prod can be found on a second floor dresser. The items in the ranch are considered owned, resulting in a loss of Karma if taken. True to its name, two tumbleweeds can be found inside the shack, one on the sofa and the other on a bed. Both cannot be picked up and moved.
Behind the ranch is a cattle pen, which is seemingly empty, along with a few more tumbleweeds drifting idly in the breeze. When approaching the pen, a nightkin will uncloak and offer to sell "wind-brahmin," triggering the unmarked quest Wind-Brahmin Wrangler. In front of the pen is a dead wastelander.
Notable loot[]
- A copy of Lying, Congressional Style - On the top floor on a shelf beside a dresser.
- One Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap - On the ground in front of the shelf with the empty bottles, inside the first floor kitchen, to the left after entering. Note that the cap is flagged as "owned" and can only be stolen, which results in Karma loss.
- A cattle prod - Top floor, near the skill book.
Notes[]
- It is one of the most northerly locations in the game world.
- The tumbleweeds in the northwest corner of the pen seem to be attracted to that point. If rolled away from the pen, they will slowly be attracted back. This is due to the direction of the wind, and if lifted over the fence they will continue westward.
- The shack has the same internal layout as the "capitol building" in the Republic of Dave in Fallout 3.
Appearances[]
The Brooks tumbleweed ranch appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.
