Jason has mentioned some industrial ruins to the east that are supposed to be highly radioactive.Chris Haversam

Clark Field is a location in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Comprised of a small power plant and nuclear storage site destroyed by bombs long ago, leaving the radioactive contents leaking out, Clark Field has little in the way of salvage so most prospectors give it a wide berth, to say nothing of the pack of golden geckos that made the concrete rubble site their nest.[1]

Sometime shortly before the Courier awoke in Goodsprings in 2281, a prospector self-proclaimed Mr. RADical came to Clark Field to test the effectiveness of his radiation suit after a previous "successful" test at Yucca Mountain. Despite beginning to suffer from radiation poisoning, he dismissed it and purchased a container of the REPCONN rockets' isotope-239 igniting agent from Old Lady Gibson with the intent to dump on himself while at Clark Field. However, he ended up dying just outside of the old nuclear plant from the radiation poisoning, where his body remained.[2]

Layout[]

Situated south of the toxic dump site and east of the Highway 95 Viper's encampment, the area consists of a highly irradiated industrial complex, with only the exterior accessible to the Courier. Several golden geckos roam the area. A small, fenced-in area on the southeast edge of the location is not irradiated and a white "NAC" container with a skeleton and some loot lying next to it can be found.

Near the south entrance from the highway is a dead pack brahmin. One of two isotope-239 igniting agent containers lay on the ground nearby, required for the quest Come Fly With Me. When approaching from the north, the deceased Mr. RADical can be found along the side of the road. He is wearing a radiation suit and the second isotope-239 igniting agent is found on his corpse, along with his journal.

Notable loot[]

  • First sample of Isotope-239 igniting agent and Mr. RADical's journal - Found on the body of Mr. RADical. Relevant as a quest item for a certain part of Come Fly with Me.
  • Second sample of Isotope-239 igniting agent - Found near a deceased pack brahmin near the south entrance. Relevant as a quest item for a certain part of Come Fly with Me.

Fallout: New Vegas Official Game Guide Collector's Edition Tour of the Mojave Wasteland: Clark Field, p. 419: "Highway 95 winds around this place, as if to escape the death and stagnation: A small power plant and nuclear storage site bombed long ago, with containment reactors slowly leaking out radiation, Clark Field now sports broken concrete and dead corpses succumbing to the poisoning or the pack of Golden Geckos that roamsIn-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar. The facility itself has little to scavenge, although a fallen Pack Brahmin has spilled out a couple of Stimpaks. A skeleton near the south parking lot has some scattered Caps and ammo. But the main item of interest is on the Scavenger in the Radiation Suit on the road from Novac [5.18]. This is the late great Mr. RADical; and his Igniting Agent fuels rockets to the stars! Check out his journal to read the musings of a man a little too over-confident in the abilities of his suit."
