The Middle Mountain Pitstop is a location in the Savage Divide region of Appalachia in Fallout 76. Previously known as Middle Mountain Cabins, it was renovated and renamed by the Blue Ridge Caravan Company with the Once in a Blue Moon update.

Background[]

Prior history[]

Previously known as Middle Mountain Cabins, this location was a privately-owned retreat for hunters and other visitors before the Great War. After the bombs dropped, one of its owners, George, grew ill from radiation and was eventually killed by an assailant in the War's aftermath. The cabins were abandoned and raiders took up residence for a time before 2102, but the raiders also eventually died out.

Blue Ridge Caravan Company[]

In 2104, the Blue Ridge Caravan Company, seeking to expand its operations in Appalachia, moved into the cabins and established a pitstop for caravaners and other travelers. It doubles as a ranch to raise brahmin for the caravan operations in Appalachia.[1]

Currently, it is occupied by general goods merchant Vera Thornberg and guard and bartender Clyde. However, the cabins are a hotspot for creature activity. A repeller generator was set up at the pitstop by Aries to ward off the creatures. However, if the repeller broke, it would have the opposite effect and attract deadly creatures, including the cryptid known as the Blue Devil.[2]

Layout[]

The pitstop consists of three main cabins, converted for use by the Blue Ridge Caravan Company: the general store (ran by Vera Thornberg), the Boozin Brahmin (a bar ran by Clyde) and the Sleep Stop (a vacant inn). The location itself is surrounded by makeshift junk and wooden barricades. Above the cabins is a series of rooftop outposts and bridges connecting them. In the center of the pitstop is a central platform where the repeller generator is found. Nearby are some pens for three named brahmin.

The general store is on the leftmost side when coming in from the main entrance, and has a tinker's workbench displayed prominently outside. It is where Vera runs her store from. A terminal (Hacker level 0) is found on a desk in this building, while another, unlocked terminal, the repeller control terminal, is on the walkway outside. The Boozin Brahmin is Clyde's bar, complete with seating, a darts board and a combat shotgun under the counter. There is a terminal (Hacker level 1) on a desk here, as well. The Sleep Stop is an unmanned hostel cabin with several beds inside.

  • The Middle Mountain Pitstop replaced the previous location of the Middle Mountain Cabins.
  • Inside the Boozin Brahmin, there is a dart board with three crossbow bolts embedded in it. The chalkboard next to it shows that Eugenie and Tommy Ten-Toes played a game of darts here, with Eugenie winning.

Vera Thornberg: "We sell general goods, plus some extras like fresh milk, on account of rasin' the Blue Ridge Caravan Brahmin here. Besides the shop, Clyde sells drinks over at our bar the Boozin Brahmin, and you can always take a load off at the Sleep Stop if ya get tired. Just mind yourself outside, had some critters attack the place recently, hence the repairs goin' on."
