The isolated cabin is a location in the Forest region of Appalachia.[Non-game 1]

Background[]

In 2097, twenty years after the Great War, the cabin was inhabited by Mr. and Ms. Braxton, two ghoul survivors. They were contacted at least once by William Keller, a fellow ghoul representing a larger survivor community in Appalachia; Keller at first reached out to offer solidarity,[1] and later informed the Braxtons of a larger ghoul community forming in the Capital Wasteland.[2] By 2102, the cabin had been abandoned.

At some point following the opening of Vault 76, Reuben Gill died inside the cabin.

Layout[]

The isolated cabin has a small interior living area, with a suitcase on the destroyed bed, a locked safe (Picklock 0) against the left wall, and a toolbox on the table. There is a water pump and cooking station just outside the cabin, along with a cooler on the destroyed bench.

The cabin has a weapons workbench outside near the back corner and the remains of Reuben Gill inside, wearing a Vault 51 jumpsuit. On Gill's body, one will find a safe key and two notes.

There are woodpiles near the cooking station and additional piles lined up alongside the cabin. There is an outhouse just up the hill containing a first aid kit and a note. The doghouse contains science equipment such as test tubes and has a periodic table of elements on the inside wall. Two starlight creeper bushes grow outside the cabin.

Notable loot[]

Appearances[]

The isolated cabin appears only in Fallout 76 and is expanded upon in the Steel Dawn update.

Behind the scenes[]

Inside the doghouse near the rusted truck is a mathematical formula written in chalk. This is an Einstein field equation and gravitational constant, first published by Albert Einstein in 1915.

This modest shack is set in the woods; the inhabitant is long gone. Read the notes scattered about to get a glimpse of a past life. Check the tent and outhouse. Either the world's cleverest dog resided here, or a chemist was using the shack's kennel as a hiding place."
