The many unnamed Vault 32 dwellers are the residents of Vault 32 in the Fallout TV series.

Background[]

The original dwellers of Vault 32 were those descended from the Vault's first inhabitants, who were chosen by Bud Askins and his assistants for their preferred genetic traits as breeding stock for his experiment. Over time, as part of the Triennial Trades, they may have also included dwellers traded from Vault 33 and members of Bud's Buds released from Vault 31 to control and indoctrinate the Vault 32 population.

The original dweller population is not known to have suffered any serious incidents until circa 2293 to 2294, when the original dwellers learned of the secret behind Vault 31, leading to unrest in which Overseer Ian Jackson was tortured to death and his staff hanged. At the same time, the resulting violence across the Vault led to widespread loss of life as they split into factions and started killing each other or committing suicide. Graffiti painted on the walls was a stark reminder to others that the dwellers knew the truth and what was inside 31, promising death to Management (Askins' eugenics project).[1] The anti-management faction appears to have prevailed and attempted to force their way into Vault 31, using whatever tools they had at hand, including blowtorches and other construction equipment. However, the revolt ultimately failed, with the dwellers perishing at the Vault door.[2]

In 2296, a group of raiders infiltrated Vault 32 with the aid of Lee Moldaver and disguised as the Vault's dwellers to enter Vault 33 as part of that year's scheduled Triennial Trade. Subsequently, the destroyed Vault was refurbished and resettled by dwellers of Vault 33, who would become the new population of Vault 32.

FOTV s1 ep1 dead V32 dweller

Norm finds a dead Vault 32 dweller

As part of the Triennial Trade with Vault 32, the Vault 32 dweller named Monty was supposed to marry Lucy MacLean.

However, when Norm MacLean, Lucy's younger brother, investigates Vault 32, he finds the corpse of a Vault 32 dweller sitting on a rocking chair, missing their left leg. Panic-stricken, Norm fled the scene and tried to warn everyone that the Vault 32 residents were fake, but it was too late.

The Ghouls[]

After Norm allows Veronica to take the Jell-O cake, he is supposed to serve the raiders as payback for killing the Vault 33 and 32 dwellers. An interaction with the Vault 32 raider, Dervin, through a hatch on a doorway reveals that the raiders didn't kill the Vault 32 dwellers.

Failing to access the Vault 32 records, Norm recruits his cousin Chet to investigate Vault 32. Amid their investigation, Norm finds a Vault 32 dweller who died by being impaled by a vault foosball bar, and using his Pip-Boy, he learns that the dweller died two years ago.

Searching through a nearby room, the two find a Vault 32 dweller who had died by inserting a fork into a toaster oven while their television was playing the mouse utopia experiment.

Continuing their investigation, Norm passes by several more Vault 32 dwellers' corpses. One Vault 32 dweller corpse leaned on a wall with the text "We know the truth" written in blood.

Approaching Norm, Chet stated that the Vault 32 raiders likely didn't kill the dwellers there, which raises the question of who did. He'd go on to mention how some strangled each other to death, which made no sense to him.

Before entering the Vault 32 Overseer's room, Norm and Chet walk past a few Vault 32 dwellers who hung themselves to death.

Inside the Overseer's room, they find the corpse of the Vault 32 Overseer, Ian Jackson who died while strapped to his chair. Chet then claims that the Vault 32 dwellers likely went bananas, and as Norm uses the Overseer's computer, he surmises that the Vault 32 dwellers opened their Vault door and let the raiders in. However, Norm denies that notion and learns that the door was opened from the outside, using his mom's Pipboy.

The Past[]

Against Chet's desire, Norm insists on investigating one last place before they investigate the Vault 31 door. There, they find a pile of Vault 32 dweller corpses in front of it, armed with blow torches and other tools and items to forcefully open the door. Norm speculates that the Vault 32 dwellers were trying to force their way into Vault 31 and wonders why. On the other hand, Chet didn't care and suggested they leave.

Sometime later, the Vault 32 dwellers are indirectly mentioned when Norm and Chet discuss the coincidence that, like Vault 33, the Vault 32 dwellers voted in someone from Vault 31. They're indirectly mentioned again when Chet answers why they're whispering since they snuck into a Vault filled with dead bodies.

After Betty Pearson is voted and inaugurated as the newest Vault 33 Overseer, Betty announces that most residents of Vault 33 will be transferred into Vault 32. An open tour of Vault 32 is given, and amid it, Norm explores the newly refurbished Vault, recalling how dark and dilapidated everything was when he and Chet explored it.

The new Vault 32 dwellers

Immediately after Norm learns about the mysterious deaths of the Vault 32 raiders, Betty relays a Pipboy message on who will stay in Vault 33 and who will be transferred to Vault 32. Among those people were Woody Thomas, much to his dismay, Chet, Steph Harper, her child, and Davey.

Visiting Chet's home, Norm is greeted by Steph, who greets him and then tells Chet not to talk to Norm too long as she's holding the baby. Norm asks if Chet was also transferred, which he confirms and details Steph and him were given a starter home unit. Their conversation is cut short when Steph calls Chet.

On the day the selected Vault 33 residents were about to transfer to Vault 32, Betty gave an uplifting speech briefly interrupted by Woody, who tried to back out. However, the Vault 33 guard stops him, and after a brief confrontation, Woody returns to his place in line. Betty then continues her speech and announces that after conferring with the high council, Steph will become the new interim Vault 32 Overseer.

Once Betty's speech ends, the newly appointed Vault 32 dwellers transfer to their Vault.
