Curie III parameter question[]

I was wondering if you could you please verify the parameters of this Curie III quote. Specifically how they are activated. Is it a result of the Project Impurity quest? Also, which that the correct question asked?

The Lone Wanderer:
Where did you get your water?
How do you make your "holy water"?
Curie III: "It was a gift from Atom. I was meditating right here in Springvale, when four of His armored angels came to me. When I said I was from Megaton, they gave me barrels of "Aqua Pura," and said I should share it with my people. They were very clear on that. But when I shared some with my Enlightened brethren, it made them terribly ill. I questioned why Atom had brought a pestilence upon us. That's when I thought to consecrate it with Atom's Light. And lo and behold, it removed the pestilence and made the finest holy water imaginable!"

Knights and paladins[]

So on the aforementioned pages there appears to be a lot of outdated information, such as constant mentions of the midwestern bos ranks (without a non-canon warning), as well as references to knights and journeyman knights being different (which contradicts the hierarchy page). Also the role equivalence across the various chapters seems to bee pretty arbitrary (such as a WC head knight being 'roughly' the same thing as an EC knight commander). Can I cut a lot of this out where necessary? Branebriar1930 (talk) 12:46, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Also (unrelated) what happened to half the upper staff? Especially Tag and Leon? Haven't been all that up too date. Branebriar1930 (talk) 13:05, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your concern[]

I appreciate you reaching out to me. There was a rather hurtful situation that stemmed from Discord, and it came at a very bad time for me as I've had some unfortunate real-life circumstances affecting me. I just don't feel comfortable being admin anymore, especially after some private harassment I've received on Discord. I'll likely still pop in to edit from time to time, but I figure it's a position I don't really need or should have any longer. AllYourFavorites (talk) 18:10, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I do still enjoy editing, but I definitely need some time to step away from it for a while and not engage with some other elements of the wiki in the future, especially Discord, for my own mental health. Best wishes to you as well. AllYourFavorites (talk) 18:23, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a balancing act, to be sure. For now though, I think my best option is to just take a long break. Don't think I've ever really had a major one since I started actively editing. AllYourFavorites (talk) 18:40, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Tinkering ahoy[]

Hi Jan, how are you? I am just dropping by to get your thoughts on a little redesign I have been fussing over for the main page. You can check out my progress Template:Welcomehome1|over here. I thought it would be nice and tidy to have the page match the others I have been building (which in and of themselves are based on Fandom Community Central design for the new update) like Fallout_Wiki:Welcome_editors|new editor welcome page and all Fallout Wiki:The Vault Academy|the Vault Academy sections. Some sections are work in progress elsewhere and would of course be added later on (like featured and did you know) plus it would be delightful to have a community portal/welcome section at some point. But before I talk too much, check it out when you have a moment and let me know what you think! -kate kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 11:42, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

More losing files[]

Howdy! I'm "refreshed" one thousand articles at Russian Fallout-Wiki, what showed 30+ pages with broken files links (and major part is simple deletion, not renaming). I'm sure, we have more. Maybe, you can give informal "content moderator" status for one of ru-admins? For me, for example. We can use status for access to deleted files, nothing more. --Alex6122 © 14:45, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Good idea. You now have this status. --Alex6122 © 17:47, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

New content mod?[]

Noticed there is a new Cmod over from the Russian wiki, not that I am necessarily against it but shouldn't a Cmod position warrant a vote? Branebriar1930 (talk) 21:18, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Alex6122 Content mod?[]

Howdy J, how's tricks?

I imagine you're getting asked about this quite a bit, but, to satisfy my curiosity, mind telling me why you gave Alex6122 content mod rights? My main reason for asking is that that's a role we hand out after a vote. Please let me know. Thanks! Richie9999 (talk) 23:22, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

While I can understand the utility of what you and Alex had in mind the problem at hand is this: As bureaucrats we are empowered to hand out certain roles and abilities without a forum, such as patroller rights and interwiki rights, it doesn't include content moderator rights, which require a forum and all that. What I would suggest to solve this problem is to make a community vote of sorts, similar to what we had to do when asking for community support for check user rights, for a custom Interwiki+/Upgraded Interwiki role for Alex6122, or you go whole hog and have 'em make a full on content mod request. My idea with the Interwiki+ role is that it'd be a custom role tag that'd make clear that they're not quite content mod more so Interwiki with a bit extra. By putting it to a forum vote we allow folks to voice their thoughts and opinions and, more importantly, solve the issues that folks are having with the unilateral promotion. Richie9999 (talk) 20:25, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
I don't know if it's a lack of community support so much as the fact that the standard procedure for granting those kinds of rights was circumvented. Folks see it as an abuse of the system, or an undermining of it at least. I've been around long enough to figure you don't mean anything malicious by it, but procedure needs to be followed. Like I said, we could do some kind of special rights request like we had to do for check user stuff. Put forth a forum where you outline what rights are needed, why, outline the qualifications and put it to a vote. Most folks I figure are rational enough to understand the usefulness of the idea you have. Richie9999 (talk) 20:39, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Good question! The welcome message is not broken, but I am choosing to leave the notes to new users. I don't really see the point in having a rule against speculation when it comes to BTS, when you can just throw on an 'unverified' tag. It seems like you could justify anything with one of those. The Ultracite page comes to mind. Branebriar1930 (talk) 08:44, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

".txt"[]

Hey J,

I recently reverted a change you made that redirect a dialogue page to end in ".txt" for a Creation Engine character. I know that historically, we've always done this, but it is actually very misleading for users because this information is neither kept under a text file nor found under the chosen Editor ID.

In addition to circumventing both of these miscommunications, I feel it is best that we place the dialogue information on a subpage for that character, so that navigation is natively more user friendly.

Going forward, we should be using this new system when creating articles. Going back and changing up existing pages is a huge undertaking and should be considered a least concern. This change is more about not creating more things to do later on when we have the time to go and correct those things.

Huh, that's odd. It should be one of the 3-dot options next to the edit button (below move and above protect). Wonder how its different from 'delete'. Branebriar1930 (talk) 17:28, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Mother Punga missing lines[]

I was wondering if you can confirm lines I believe are missing from Jimson's dialogue file page. On this file "Fo3PL Jimson MotherPunga.ogg" the following lines are spoken.

You may not be so brave when you face the Ritual of the Mother Seed. Stronger souls than you have attempted it and lost their minds. Venture west to the great bog, and within you shall find the mother of all Punga Fruit. She stands taller than a man, and her vines guide our future. Collect her seeds, and kneel before her wisdom. Only then will you be ready to enter these sacred halls.

However only this is on Jimson's dialogue file page.

Venture west to the great bog, and within you shall find the mother of all Punga Fruit. She stands taller than a man, and her vines guide our future.

Thank you! I've corrected the quotation on Mother Punga with it. Not sure why the page quotation was altered when the audio file was accurate. I've added a standardized summary to the audio file to keep it verified.--Ant2242 (talk) 04:53, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

"Type I / II" robot[]

Good day to you,

I just stumbled over an oddity on Andy (Fallout 3), where in the lead section it stated that it is a "Type I" Mr. Handy. It seems like that kind of categorization started back in 2008. I've removed it from the article, but I'm curious if you might know what this was about, as I don't recall of ever seeing that kind of categorization in other sources.

Thanks in advance, have a great day and happy editing. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 06:18, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Thank you so much Jan! I am beyond ecstatic to join you and Richie in this important role, and I really appreciate your kind words. I wrote Richie but wanted to let you know as well, I take this responsibility very seriously and I am beyond honored to have received this level of support from the community. I will work as hard as I possibly can to serve the wiki and its users, now and into the future. Game icons[]

Talked with Dekker a bit about the game icons at the top of the infoboxes no longer aligning with FandomDesktop. The folks I have heard from so far suggest removing them. That would mean we need to make sure that all games are accounted for in the infobox template itself, and work to make sure all articles have infoboxes to begin with. I could also automate that with a general template using my bot. The bot is also capable of removing the {{games|}} portion easily enough, too.

On the other hand, we could potentially attempt a work around. You can see a pretty significant overlap on the trait article, or what it looks like when I added a (fairly unnecessary but as an example) navigation template to armor and clothing. If leaning towards keeping them, we would need to tweak a few to make sure they look crisp on both modes. In any case, let me know what you think and we can make a plan. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 07:14, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Background issue[]

I sent a note regarding the game icons. We may be using the template where other wikis don't, a situation unique to us instead of a bug, but not sure. I will let you know what I find out. Another issue reported to me by users lately has been the background pattern clashing in light mode. The black font isn't easily visible against the pattern, and dark mode lacks a background altogether.

Maybe we can choose some Fallout-themed backgrounds that will look better with both modes, we could even rotate them to reflect new updates. You can check out some work in progress examples of themes that work across the board, I have all the sister wikis more or less upgraded to the new layout (see a few examples here and here). Just let me know your thoughts on it (after your vaca of course!) -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 22:25, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Re: navbar bug[]

https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Navigation#How_many_links_can_it_contain.3F

It looks like the navbar is hardcoded to have limits on how many links you can add. That makes things pretty hard on us since Fallout has so many moving parts.

I'll revise it so we can include everything, but it won't be as fluid as I hoped for. Thanks for rolling it out and letting me know! :) Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 17:48, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

Re:Re: Navbar[]

So I condensed it pretty well and added a few more items. It looks like we are already rolling over the maximum for the Updates nav item, so I set The Pitt to be hidden (it would be anyway) so its obvious when looking at the code.

I removed the Keys and Magazines links, since the former isn't as impactful and the latter is supposed to be on the consumable page anyhow (already added a link there). In their place, I added Power Armor and Plans. I merged CAMP and world objects, since world objects was already a directory that linked to CAMP.

We will have to revise this in the near future, so don't get comfortable. Additionally, we seem to have a free Level 1 navigation spot - I think we could split some of the 76 content into 2 Level 1's in order to get more mileage out of this feature, but I'm still trying to figure out the best way to present the information.

Transclusion[]

That was strange, thanks for letting me know. Not sure what happened but I added it back on the anchor article. Double check it looks alright on your end. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 08:31, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Tour bot audio[]

Thank you so much! That is so great to have, I appreciate the effort to the max. Today I will be adding DN092 (The Museum of Freedom), only a few lines for that. I am actually super excited, all of this prep is to write American Revolution and associated articles. I figure it is about time I learn some American history! Aquaboy overview fixes[]

Thanks for fixing the overview page, I wasn't at the height of my game yesterday, so it is good that you noticed the faulty links and missing images. I wish you a most pleasant Wednesday. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 03:45, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Citation images[]

Hey J, just wanted to reach out about the last couple of reference images you modified after me. Specifically the one today on the Owlet page. I'm trying to figure out what the purpose is. It looks really bad on desktop and even worse on mobile (the size param is ignored on mobile). See File:Owlet2.png|here. Didn't want to revert the change without reaching out first. The image is properly linked from the reference and I don't see where we have a precident for displaying the images in-line. Let me know what I'm missing. Thanks for your help. Action Girl Action Boy[]

I am not sure it was set up the way it was, the same with Hunter/Hunted. When you use a slash in a name, it will interpret this as as subpage. All of the redirects were broken because of it, but I fixed them. As far as the naming goes, no we will not be naming them all as boy over girl in the title. The perk is potentially either or. You can join the group on Discord if you want to add to the conversation about naming them the way I did. I will do the others later on today. Happy weekend! -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 18:51, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

UnusedFiles[]

Hey J,

Why are we deleting stuff on the "UnusedFiles" special page? Files don't actually take up any space as the data for them is kept due to the ability to revert a deleted file and all that it has done is cause problems. Not to mention the fact that the page itself isn't accurate as files that are actually used and not just linked to will still show up. I'm not sure if there's some specific reason for this or what which is why I figured I would ask you.

Thanks a bunch! -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 20:54, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Updates to css[]

Hi Jan, just a heads up that Eckserah and I are working on updates to css today. Mostly formatting issues with dark mode. Just in case you see things a bit under construction here and there :) -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 22:09, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Subcategory for deceased characters/corpses in FO76[]

Good morning to you,

I've noticed that the category for Fallout 76 character images is currently a wild mix of images from living and deceased characters. I would like to create a sub-category for corpse images, moving all of them there, while also name the images accordingly (most of them currently don't follow the syntax). I think the amount of corpse images we have justify a subcategory, while it would also looks less morbid for people browsing the character image category.

As for naming the category, I thought of "Fallout 76 character corpse images", or the more decent variant "Fallout 76 deceased character images" - with proper subcategories for corpse images that came with any of the major updates. These are just my ideas and I'd like to have your feedback on the topic before I start and take action.

Have a great day and happy editing. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 05:43, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Mediawiki/template[]

Just a heads up, I went through and did some maintenance updates for nukastaff/inactive and mediawiki profile tags. Looks like it hadn't been updated in awhile. Some users were on one list and not the other and vice versa. I updated in user rights management as well, mainly for inactive patrollers and interwiki. Just FYI! -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 17:20, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you, but everything seems to be working. I haven't used any of them yet, but roll back, delete, and protection tools are showing up for me. Aiden4017 (talk) 05:21, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Scribe-Howard[]

This has to do with recents edits, but should information really be getting removed when it has a valid source if the source came from a banned user? Removing it just to have someone else add it later is essentially page blanking. Special:Contributions/Scribe-Howard Great Mara (talk) 21:48, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Perk cards for Fallout 76[]

Hello J, I've come here to ask for information regarding perk cards for FO76. I've seen that many of them have been uploaded by you on Nukapedia. Can you share some information with me? I would like to know if you obtained them from taking in game pictures, and if so, could you share some specs about the resolution that you have used? Since the game is fully localized on PT, I will try to get something "similar" to what you got. If they are gotten from in-game screen captures, could you link me one print so I can see how to get'em without those pesky golden borders.

Thank you for your time! Lincoln Speak! 01:38, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

1px images[]

I was doing some maintenance and saw your message on Gilpo's page. I wanted to let you know that we can't do that 1px image process you described. It does not work on mobile, it shows up full size no matter what, overwhelming either the page or the entire references section. Let's just deal with unused images as they come or use your interwiki page if need be instead of hiding them on talk pages or rendering them at 1px within references. I am sure we can find homes for legitimate images elsewhere. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 10:15, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Missing data tag[]

Maybe this is just a difference in perspective, but over on the Sinthia page, I saw you removed where I flagged a section which needed the actual statistics rather than a vague "higher Luck" description. Is there a reason why you would remove a tag which sets the page aside, noting that the page is missing something important, and instead replace it with a question that is otherwise hidden to anyone which is not actively editing the page and does not at all notify others that there is an issue with the page? If it's a matter of which tag, I understand if you wanted to replace it with a "citation need" label, but now it's basically off the radar until someone else stumbles blindly into the same question. And it's now no longer clear that the page is lacking information. The Dyre Wolf (talk) 16:01, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Empty space[]

Hi! Why are you adding empty space in images, like that File:2D20 Big Leagues.png? This is really bad practice in web. dev. Just use css to change image position at page, if you need it. --Alex6122 © 23:02, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Hey J. When it comes to this are the images part of the infoboxes or is it somewhere else that's causing the issue. We can do something for setting height restrictions with a template if that's the case. Any explanations you can give me would be awesome. Thanks, -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 17:18, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Your infoboxes used simply <image> tag, that have no size property. You can use <navigation> tag for insert any wiki-text to infobox like our infoboxes at Russian Fallout wiki.
For example, you can make something like this Template:Test / Test page. --Alex6122 © 20:05, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Flying Visit[]

Hej J,

Thought I'd check in and see how you're doing as I was drawn over to the wiki again. I hear a a lot has changed over the years, some for the better, some for the worse, but that is how it is.

Also could you put {{:w:User:Sakaratte}} on my user page? I think the rather rude message has sat on there long enough. Best not to unlock those pages I think. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 00:29, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

RE: Fallout 76 random encounters[]

Hi J,

I went ahead and finished the transcription for the backup subpage and then marked it for deletion. Unfortunately, we cannot have both collapsible and sortable tables without major issues on one or more platforms. If you'd like to see them sorted by EDID, I recommend copy and pasting the entire table into Google Sheets and going from there. Additionally, xEdit offers this functionality.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 09:36, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

If you want to have a standardized image size, we need to agree on a set dimension to prevent alignment issues. All existing images would need to be cropped, and all future ones will need to fit that specification. I recommend using a square image. Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 00:16, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

FOBOS/FOT[]

No worries, in that case I need you to fix the template so they don't leave red links then for pages that don't exist. Appreciate it. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 18:51, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Template fix[]

I am not sure what you mean. I am not disputing anything. We need to fix the template so both issues will be resolved - the red links won't appear for pages that will never exist and the overviews will still appear for topics that do exist. Just because we have used a template a long time doesn't mean that it is the best template possible, or that we can't do something else. If you don't know how to fix it, that is okay, neither do I, so I will ask the dataminers for help. Try to be flexible with me, okay? We are on the same team. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 15:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

That's good to hear! With your amount of edits, it's hardly surprising that you ended up getting some RSI :P. Good thing the wiki is still doing well, I have considered picking up editing again, maybe I'll start small as I play FO76, adding some stuff here and there. I'm doing great in life at the moment, even got myself a job! DisgustingWastelander (talk) 23:02, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Re front page[]

Hello, I received your message. The front page is still WIP but I will go ahead and finish it today. The announcement template needed work so I hid it temporarily. For community posts, we need to make sure anyone who is using [category:community posts] is writing about Fallout related topics only and that they are appropriate, since they appear on the front page. I will change to Fallout Worlds, that is a good suggestion. Another thing we need to do is go through Module:Icons and add a white border to any that are black so that they are visible on dark mode. I have done a handful (Icon unused.png for example). Not too worried about the FBG at the top but the others that are used more frequently. Not a high priority, just wanted to make you aware. Happy Thursday! Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 13:51, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

RE: Has caps icon in value[]

Hey J, essentially this is part of an effort to make filling in data much easier. Basically the plan is to have the value fields default to caps when filled in and give the editor the ability to specify a different icon type. We are currently using this first on the 76 item stuff since there are already multiple unique currencies in game. Since we are doing this after we have already done the previous way, I created a category to help us with removing the extra caps icon from the value field. Currently it also will hide the new caps icon if it detects there's one already there, but this is the best way to go about it to allow for things to work in a standardized way and also reduce the amount of errors we may have. Let me know if you have any other questions! -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 23:36, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

Lever-action rifle background section[]

I removed that section for a couple of reasons, that I should have named in the edit summary. First and most importantly in my opinion, that section is just a condensed version of the Wikipedia page on the lever action. Second, I'm trying to standardise the various weapon overview pages, and very few of these pages have background sections. Many of these overviews are divided into sections for transclusion, but more often than not nothing actually uses these sections. I'm willing to change the sub pages to transclude a more specific section, but if you want the background to stay, I'll leave it alone, but I'd prefer removing it. Aiden4017 (talk) 22:42, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Alright, I'll rewrite it, but would you be ok with me hiding it afterwards? Also, do you know which sub pages use it? I checked the lever action pages (lever-action rifle (Point Lookout, Far Harbor, 76) Brush gun, Cowboy repeater, Trail carbine, even the BB guns) and none of them use that section. Aiden4017 (talk) 01:16, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Infobox plan bullion icon[]

Hey J. Just wanted to let you know that we're going to be reverting the stuff you did with the bullion icons in the plan pages. We need them in that category so we can use the bot to make corrections on all those. In the future, if the type isn't caps then the value type needs to be added. Sorry for the confusion on all this! -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 16:23, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Background trimmed[]

Done trimming the background section of lever-action rifle. I'd still prefer not to have it, as like I said I'm trying to standardise weapon overviews to not have backgrounds among other issues. Not that happy with it, but it's done. Aiden4017 (talk) 02:43, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Special:UnusedFiles[]

Hi Jan, hope you are doing well. I am sure you have noticed that Special:UnusedFiles is no longer working consistently. I have had far more users than normal approach me in the last week or so to fix images that were deleted despite being in use, and I am positive that this special page is to blame. I have started asking around to see what our options are, but for now, I say we hold off on deleting images in that report just to be safe. Our interwiki article process seems to be working well, so long as we aren't adding images to article talk pages or references as 1px (which appear as full size in the reference section on mobile). I will keep you updated on what I find out. Happy Tuesday! -kate Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 10:43, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

Re: Forum[]

Where are you seeing a policy outlining the requirement for minimum votes? Our role from what I understand is to sign off on the result of the vote as a formality, not change it or impact it in any way. Let me know where you are seeing the policy on minimums, I asked around today but no one knew of a requirement. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 04:54, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Spoke with Richie and the rest of the editors tonight regarding your comments. We agreed it would be okay to reopen the forum, which I have done. Looks like issue was that there were several other things occurring and most didn't know about it. To your comment on your own edits, you can set up a bot account separate from your main and do the small edits that way. The bot is exempt from the edit summary requirement. I can help you set it up, like synthkate who does all mine. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 03:08, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

RE: Maintenence categories[]

Hey J! So those are mostly due to the fact that some plans were set up using line breaks to seperate multiple value types and the non tradable thing. This will all be taken care of soon enough, no worries. As for the issue with XEdit I'm trying to figure out the issue you're having. You should be able to still open the esm without issue and search through it. Is there anything you have that's different with what you're doing? Thanks, -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 01:53, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Plan edits[]

These changes were made by my bot. The purpose is to inform readers of three pieces of information - the value of the plan, what currency is required to purchase, and if, once purchased, the plan can be traded with other players. There is a trade parameter now, and value2 is added for those that do or will have a second type of currency utilized. Hope that helps! -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 08:46, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Atomic shop image deletions[]

J, please Stop messing with the atomic shop stuff. I clearly wrote on those image pages that they were duplicates on purpose, and not to delete them.

My work was not done in error, as you might have incorrectly assumed. They were placeholders intended to minimize the time I spend curating the list. As the correct images come in, or as i complete 3d rendering, I was planning to upload them to replace these duplicates.

Now that they're deleted and replaced with bad file links, I need to go around a figure out why things aren't working right when I do upload their replacements, which wastes a lot of my time.

This is a recurring issue, and this time I ask that you undo all of these deletions and rollback the article changes. Please read before deleting things next time because those notes were explicitly for you. If there is no note, that's my fault and please leave me a talk page note with the links so I may mark the ones that are actually erroneous for deletion.

Thanks, Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 19:47, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

J, please stop deleting this kind of content. There were several issues with the storefronts being duplicates of others. If they were to correct the mask to no longer include the full outfit (like they always do), the link would now be broken when I update them. Please read the upload notes I leave explicitly for you that say "DO NOT DELETE THIS DUPLICATE". This image was not even up for 24 hours, please keep your OCD in check.

I am going to roll these back. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 11:27, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Aside from you breaking multiple policies, this clogs recent changes which is not conducive or helpful to those patrolling. If there are edits like this, tell me and I will have the bot do it. I am beginning to grow frustrated with attempting to respond to questions from users as to why you do not have to follow policies like everyone else. As bureaucrats, we ought to be setting a good example instead of ignoring the rules. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 11:48, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Citation needed templates and your other complaints[]

They do look bad, and the wiki is incomplete if we don't have the references. It's almost like they should have had a referenced to begin with. The {{citation needed}} tag is useful, as it allows people to see what articles need citations and help out. Since there is literally nothing against this in our policy, I will continue top put these in for now, as I am working on a category project and I like to finish one thing before I start another. I am also keeping track of them in my sandbox, as I do plan to return to them later when the project is finished. I would also like to note that your behavior is hinging on edit stalking and I will be bringing this up with another crat.

As for the number of edits? You were doing something similar on other pages I edited, using two edits per article instead of one, and as I am a patroller, my edits do not need to be verified. Unless there is a policy that goes against this, I'm not sure I understand the problem.

As for the categories, totally my bad, I was using the "add category" button since it was faster instead of a full edit, and Fin told me I also missed a |Deceased break at the end, which I will correct from this point forward. I'm sure you understand since, as you've said, those pesky edit summaries can be so inconvenient when you're doing 100 edits a day. Katy Webb Icon vaulttec A better future, underground! 18:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

This is not about effort, as I am aware that this can easily be found on the Vault 111 terminal entries. This is about making it easier for the wiki to be collaborate together, and as I said clearly in my last reply, I am focusing on one project, and one project only right now. Additionally, |Deceased is intentional, as otherwise it files everything under "F," which I have confirmed with multiple other editors on Discord - the Nukapedia Discord, which I feel I should specify since there are offshoots such as the separate bureaucrat Discord that you and Richie have curated. You're welcome to bring this topic to #the-editorial-ballpit there as well if you are so inclined, as we have already been talking extensively about it. For example, File:FO76 Red Menace Flag 1.png, File:FO76 Red Menace Flag 2.png , File:FO76 Red Shift Flag 1.png, File:FO76 Red Shift Flag 2.png were used interwiki Spanish and Chinese. FO76 191020 Welch sign.png was used on our own Welch article. FO4 Four Leaf Fishpacking Plant Exterior 02.png was used on our own Four Leaf fishpacking plant article. This should make data entry a little easier, as well as allow us to add mobile support or make additional tweaks across the board without having to change several hundred pages individually. Currently, these dialogue tables look really bad on both desktop and mobile.

I made a few changes to the layout, but it should be intuitively documented. I hope this proves helpful. Thank you for your work, Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 03:15, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

RE Dekker Tool[]

I was under the impression that you were doing all of this manually. I had no idea that Dekker was publishing tools - why haven't either of you shared this until now?

I'm currently learning the tools, but I can't seem to locate where the dialogue exporter is. Care to point me in the right direction? I've been working on a similar tool and it is amazing to see that this has already been completed. If I can figure out how to rewire the export myself, I'll share it with you. In the meantime, ask Dekker to set up the export with the new template.

Additionally, although this tool exports the dialogue as a .txt file, that is not how they are natively stored and we should not be adding .txt as a suffix to article pages for this game. I can tell you for absolute certain that the .txt suffix is erroneous for all titles as of Fallout 3.

I think it is much more apt to name these articles either using the PAGE NAME/Dialogue structure or by simply using the Editor ID for the VOICE TYPE (VTYP) associated with the NPC. For example, instead of naming the article page "BoSRogerMaxson.txt", we should be naming it either "Roger Maxson/Dialogue" or "NPCM_RogerMaxson". I prefer using the subpage format, because Fandom subpages allow users to easily navigate back to the parent page, or the main NPC article.

Edit: It turns out, this tool is exporting incomplete dialogue tables. While in previous games, each line had its own formid, 76 will nest several dialogue lines inside of one formid. This tool only exports the first line, and skips up to a dozen more.

Thank you, Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 01:24, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Hey J, So the scripts that dekker made for exporting dialogue won't work correctly with the current versions of 76 or any version after wastelanders released due to the way that they implemented the dialogue trees. This causes the exports to end up being incomplete. If you could mark the pages you've added so far as incomplete so we can update them when we have a working scripts (Getting the dialogue trees figured out is a bit of a pain atm) then it would be greatly appreciated. When we have an updated script I will make sure to let you know. Thanks -Eckserah User Eckserah Head Dataminer 02:15, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi yall. I'm working on updating the script. I noticed that the Vault Dweller's dialogue is missing, but do you have examples of the other person's dialogue missing? The script does actually output multiple lines per form ID. Also, when it comes to using your template, Howard, how do you suggest the entries are ordered within each scene? Because there is quite some nesting going on, so I could either do it in the order in which it appears in each scene, or I could try to go depth-first along each possible route. Any suggestions on this front? - FDekker (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

New rights removal policy after 2-3 weeks[]

Hi J!

Several staff members have had their rights removed by Kate recently, and we're all very confused. There seems to be no policy for this. I was briefly in and out of the wiki for 2-3 weeks in September and October, and my rights were removed because I was "inactive." I can't find any policy supporting this, and you can see there are a couple of posts on Kate's talk page questioning the same thing.

This sets a very dangerous precedent. Several other staff members routinely stop editing for months at a time, especially admins. According to Kate, they would need to start from scratch on the rights process. This has been extremely disheartening to experience. I'd like to request that my rights be restored. This new policy will have an extremely detrimental effect on the wiki if staff members have to fear that even a family vacation will result in a complete demotion. intrepid359FO76NW Overseer10/31/21 [1:44am]

Sorry to hijack this post, but who are "all" in this context, and why are they confused - or is this just an alarmist phrase? There currently is a forum discussion regarding the future of handling inactive staff, feel free to share your ideas there. And no, "according to Kate" they would not have to start from scratch, as is outlined in the forum. Likewise, your narrative about your patroller rights being removed due to inactivity does not match with reality, as Kate as well as other staff members (myself included) initially interpreted the lines you wrote on Discord as resignation. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 12:31, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Read Kate's response on my talk page in which she tells me I need to start the patroller process over from scratch due to a few weeks of absence. This isn't even consistent with the proposed policy being voted on with a 4 month timeline. Another user suffered the same fate and wrote on Kate's talk page. Other users have suffered the same fate. Kate is unilaterally removing rights. They need to be restored until an actual policy is in place. My 2-3 weeks of inactivity is an absurd measure of inactivity.

Re: icons and ATX[]

Hey J,

I will be deleting the redirects once I replace the links on applicable pages. I will be doing this for almost all of those images, because I erroneously did not name them according to their associated ESM keyword. This will eventually be done for all uploaded game icons in order to keep things easier to transcribe. All future uploads should be named according to their official corresponding name, as well.

As for Atomic Shop items with "TBA" or "N/A" images, these are used to indicate that the official storefront has not been released in any of our permanent directories.

  • TBA = a placeholder Nifskope render is required. The .NIF, .DDS and .BGSM files associated with the object are present in the ESM, and the model can be assembled with little to no effort. In some instances, the .BGSM will be missing. An ad hoc can be made using Material Editor and saved into a custom .BA2 file using Archive2. You can then manually add your custom archive to Nifskope in order to complete the model.
  • N/A = the referenced object does not exist, or is impossible to render with Nifskope. I had used this to represent TBA prior to implementing TBA, so some items will erroneously claim they don't exist. In other cases, the files have since been introduced into our directories and the model can be assembled.

Also, some TBA refers to storefronts which are only placed in the temporary AppCache folder, which is deleted and replaced each Tuesday. Some items (like Vault Girl Pumpkin Head) and bundles (like Power Armor Basic Paints) were only implemented via the temp folder, and may no longer be accessible. I recommend creating an ad hoc storefront using the designated file path. In the case of bundles, just call it atx bundle (NameOfItem).webp, which I will upload it as when it eventually rears its ugly head in the temp folder again.

If you have any more questions, or wish to collaborate more on this project, message me on Discord. Scribe-Howard (waster_93) (talk) FO76 vaultboy transparent face 23:30, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Forum close, catch up[]

Hi Jan, I hope you are doing well. Just a heads up that a forum poll has ended (there are three polls on one forum in this case). If you have time, feel free to close it up with result or I will when I wake up in the morning. Just wanted to make sure you had a chance to review first.

Since I am in the neighborhood, a few updates. I granted MarksPolh interwiki rights (+iw pt fr ru). They are a pleasant, proficient interwiki user, active since 2018. One other quick note, if you notice profile tags missing (the ones on nukastaff containing tooltips for example) it is not an error, I noticed they were broken earlier and I am seeking a workaround or other clarification. I have seen a few other issues with tooltips lately, not too often but enough to catch my attention. I will let you know what I find out.

Lastly, in light of Richie's resignation, we should touch base, if anything just to lament together. Feel free to send me a message in the medium of your choice, no rush though. Hope you have a good start to your Wednesday! -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 08:51, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Passing on a brief message[]

Howdy J! I won't take up too much of your time, Leon asked me to pass on the message that he wants to talk to you on Discord. I don't know what it's about, but he stressed to me that it was an important thing, so it's probably something worth seeing what he wants. Does this thing still work?[]

Hey. Its been a while my friend, but I can't deny I've missed this place, but just missing it hasn't been enough to drag me back, yet. I'm doing a bit of research into an idea, it might come to something, it might come to nothing. I'm looking for some of the old gang to talk it over with to get the lie of the land since I've moved on. I'm gunna sit in the wiki discord for a few days, and I'm hoping you might swing by so we can have a wee chat (I know you're not a fan of it, but the idea is too early to say more on yet out in the open). Rollback[]

Why are you rolling back bot changes? -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 00:02, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

Forgot to follow up, it was just a bot issue. I did not unclick two settings boxes, it was intended to remove from forums, talk pages, blog comments only. I noticed and started the bot rolling back its own changes. The user GreatMara began reverting and errored out the bot. If they had just spoken to me, the bot would have just corrected itself without issue. Their attitude towards the situation was not appropriate in any case, I will likely touch base with admins for a review. I digress, just wanted to let you know I have been more mindful about settings on bot since then and all has been well. -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 01:08, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

Locked pages need restoring[]

The bot edited on Kate’s main account and left an edit summary of “christ…”? Great Mara (talk) 15:17, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
That was obviously Kate herself, likely being frustrated about the whole incident. As I resolved your issue with the locked pages earlier, I would recommend that you take any issues you have with her to her talk page, and talk with her about it there, instead of making allegations about her here. Unless you want to request mediation from J, that is.
Also @Jsp, sorry for following Mara in off-topic regions there. I wish both of you a great day. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 16:24, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

False Discord Ban[]

Hey Jspoelstra. I believe I was recently banned from Discord under false pretenses. Messages have been relayed to me about the goings-on in the public moderator channel there, and I have come to the conclusion that someone is framing me into allegedly DMing Kate some nasty stuff recently. I can prove via screen share that the latest message I sent to Kate was over two weeks ago. At this poin, you are the only staff member that is still willing to hear me out with my side of the story so I can defend myself. I hope you are able to clear up this mess and assist me in clearing my name one way or the other.

Sadly, even if tonight's events do end up rectified, I do not think that the wiki is in a good place as a whole right now, and some staff members will need to be reconfirmed soon. Hopefully I can return to my friends on the wiki soon once again, though hostile actions by various staff members have eroded our foundational enjoyment of the wiki. - Sigmund Fraud Talk Contributions 05:29, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Two issues[]

Hello J, I wanted to let you know that I have suggested to temporarily remove the ability for this user to edit their talk page due to misuse. After an administrator responded to their inquiry that it was unclear what they actually were requesting, they admitted that they do not want anything at all, which not only contradicted their initial post but also led me to believe they only returned to cause additional conflict.

In my opinion, it is also gross misuse of their talk page, which is left open for a user to appeal their permanent ban, and not to continue the exact same behavior that was a contributing factor for their permanent removal in the first place. For reference, please see my post on the user's talk page found here. As I announced in that post, I also brought the issue forward with other staff on Discord, as can be found here.

On another topic, I urge you to support the highly justified removal of user Sigmund Fraud from the wiki's Discord, as I simply do not feel comfortable with this user, having both a ban history of toxic behavior and harassing another user and their family via direct message immediately upon return from said ban.

In my opinion, this is an unprecedented case of toxicity and hostility, and should not be tolerated in the slightest. I likewise doubt the user's claim of being framed, seeing it more likely they backpaddled and went on the offensive in order to victimize themselves after having deleted the messages in question.

As I consider you a truly neutral party, I defer to your judgment in both of the cases I have brought forward. In regards to the latter, the information was shared with both staff and our wiki representative via Discord, which I encourage you to review. Thank you for reading and I wish you a wonderful Sunday, despite the ongoing events.
FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 10:08, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

I have said multiple times to multiple people that I have exonerable evidence, but rather than paying attention to that, you continue to campaign against my ability to speak to anyone. Where have I heard that before? I feel like someone recently had a permaban overturned because the staff members failed to investigate a false claim thoroughly. I recall the staff saying that they would work hard to prevent such a thing from occurring again in the future. I guess "future" in this case only refers to about 2 months, then it's back to banning people based on only one side of a story and refusing to look at evidence from the banned user's side.
That being said, I haven't seen any evidence from your side. Just a bunch of hearsay from frankly untrustworthy staff members. I didn't even know "I" had DMed Kate some nasty stuff until after Techno forced Dyre to discuss the matter in the public moderation log where it belongs (in an aside, they just inadvertently proved that the public log is not being used to discuss all matters of an impersonal nature. Instead it is used as a vetted security desk, while the real discussion still occurs privately and staff only release information that they want the public to see. If you think these alleged DMs are considered too private to discuss publicly from the beginning, you need to rethink the public moderation channel concept as a whole). There were no screenshots or videos or anything showing that I did anything bad. Since I assume some DMs do exist somewhere, someone can pull the discriminator and Discord ID off of whoever sent them and see that the ID does not match with my own. Since Kate is the only one that has access to her own DMs, tell her to screen share it so she can't "copy ID," then actually provide a completely different one. If "I" wasn't the one to actually DM anything to her (which my proof and her proof will show), and it was instead someone "acting on behalf" of me (and probably Laat too), I should remind you that the same baseless claim appeared a month prior when Kate and her kids got doxxed. Again, there was zero real proof. Just the claim of some random rulebreaker. Maybe in reality, they acted on your behalf, or Dyre's behalf, or Saxhleel's behalf, or Texia's behalf, or Chad's behalf. There is a limitless number of people they could claim to be acting in behalf of. Why would any fool actually tell the truth about who they are breaking rules in behalf of unless they are trying to throw someone under the bus? - Sigmund Fraud Talk Contributions 14:47, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
When you are name dropping the IRL names of a user's children, and the user, staff or no, does not want those names casually plastered openly for all eyes to see, that is exactly the reason the private channel was made. Consider your own behavior before crying about discussions beginning in the private, in the channel intended specifically for such a conversation to occur within. Somewhat hilariously, one of the instantly recognizable things about the message history shown were past messages sent from your account to hers like the akward comments about her being an angel and the apology for your last outburst. Correct use of talk pages[]

Please stop doing this, I have asked a few times now. This is fan art, it needs to be deleted, not "stored" on talk pages. Talk pages are not to be used for this in the first place. Thanks for your help with this. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Watoga?oldid=3670751 -kdarrow Pickman heart take her for a spin! 23:17, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Kate asked for a second pair of eyes after some back and forth over the issue. In the case of the Watoga page, the primary issue is that the image is not actually from the game, so it should not be stored or used in any official capacity on wiki.
A seal for the county government can be found in game, but the disputed image is a fan made recreation, not the in game seal itself. Talk pages should be used for discussions about improving the page, but fan made content is not covered by the wiki. An entry for storing fan content would not be an appropriate use of a talk page, especially without any description behind why the image is placed there or what the image actually is. Additionally, the image uses the same naming conventions as actual images for the wiki. This leads to the awkward situation where any well meaning user could stumble upon this image, believe it to be legitimate, and re-add it to the page or use it on other pages, all without knowing any better.
There absolutely could be a good reason to have such an image placed on that talk page as part of a discussion to have the article improved, such as using it as an example of the real seal that we need an image for, but intent needs to be communicated. As it was, the image was added to the talk page with very little information. If you want to keep the image on the talk page, at the very least it would help to rename it so that it is much more readily apparent that it is not a valid image for use in an article, and explain what part of the article needs to be improved. Alternatively, you could place it on a sandbox rather than a talk page; plenty of people have art work, roleplay material, or even just memes decorating user pages and the like, so there is no harm in having this image around as fan art.
Waster was able to pull a couple rough images from the game. You might want to get with him and see if he could help provide an image of the county seal, if that’s the goal. The Dyre Wolf (talk) 11:23, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Repair Efficiency - broken link[]

Would you please double check this edit. It appears it breaks the link on the Repair page for repair efficiency.
