Thank you kindly[]

Thank you for the new gift. I was feeling down lately with all the turmoil, but I am happier now. You always know what to say. Love you. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 05:22, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Cleaning out unknown treasures[]

Can you hook me up with name of this bad boi? I have done a vague cursory look of keywords in nifskope and gave up immediately. If you have time, can I have info for zebra one (did I write that already? or just add it to camden park rollercoaster car article?) All/any help is appreciated. -kate Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 19:00, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Merc / Raider outfits[]

These edits were meant to point out that the outfits were ported from Fallout 3, even under a different name. Xporc (talk) 11:59, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

Wild razorgrain bug / UFO4P[]

Mentioning a bug and not mentioning the very relevant fact that is patched (by what may be the single widest used mod, certainly the widest used bug fix mod), seems almost deliberaly unhelpful to the reader / end user. Do we pretend the user base plays Fallout 4 in a world where mods don't exist? It makes sense not to cover mods as topics, but not mentioning when a very popular and very stable mod fixes a bug, I just don't get that. Spikezarkspike (talk) 09:48, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

Fair enough and many thanks for the patient explanation. Spikezarkspike (talk) 13:16, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Here we go again... The Astoundingly Awesome Tales 2 Perk is bugged in the vanilla game, does not work at all. It is fixed by UFO4P. It seems like vandalism to say that the perk doesn't work, and NOT mention that it's fixed by the most common 3rd party patch. :-(
Spikezarkspike (talk) 23:49, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the wise advice. You are right, the sensible thing to do is for me to lobby the community to make a minor change to the rules. I probably won't be able to do it for a few weeks. I am ok on Discord but I would probably prefer to use a forum discussion. Thanks again. Spikezarkspike (talk) 04:12, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Policies[]

The policies aren't hard to find and we shouldn't need to baby a user and hold their hand to get them to read the policies. If they can't take the initiative to read them when they get here before editing, that's entirely on them. Great Mara (talk) 20:42, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

Re: Attitude[]

As before, I will respond bit-by-bit

1) Your implication that people with low edit counts just don't care about the wiki is flawed. Regardless, I put that as my goal on my userpage very close to the beginning of my time on the wiki, my approach changed since then to take a more assistance-heavy role consisting of advice and proofreading. I changed it on my userpage, because my approach has since changed yet again. Claiming "You don't care because you don't even have 200 edits" is reductionist.

2) I go on to explain in the rest of the piece.

3) Staff have frequently skirted rules in the past, if you really want me to address specific peoples and instances I can, however I mostly tried to refrain from "Naming and Shaming" to prevent an uproar.

4) Glad you agree that it is valid

5) Ties into 6

6) I was thinking of one specific person in that instance, whom I'm sure knows I was addressing them. However the fact I have come to them with issues and they've taken no action, instead in the time since giving themselves a title that implies they are above all others, leads me to believe this.

7) Glad you agree that it is valid

8) This was a comment mostly on my experiences in the Discord, as-well-as with a lot of common users. Certain people seem to be allowed to run about and do as they please pretty unquestioned, and a solid chunk of the userbase seem to just be totally fine with that, I assume because they find the people likeable. Granted, you're welcome to take my anecdotal evidence however you so wish.

9) Leon, Dave, Laat, Intrepid, and to a degree Cor.

10) Actually, my comment was that no newer staff members have had similar large rule breaking violations levelled against them. Which to my knowledge is true.

11) That comment was primarily referring to Leon.

12) Again, I can name and shame if you wish me to

13) FANDOM is not "In the conspiracy", nor is that what I said. My claim was that if the one time a staff member gives a reason for certain users (in that instance Leon) being banned, and FANDOM decide that it is not something to be said, the fact FANDOM are intervening to remove such information is probably a decent indicator that it is very questionable at best.

I do not despise you, in-fact if you want me to be honest I barely had an opinion on you at all until yesterday. And if my Negativity is constant, it is because the negativity I see is so flagrant. I justified my engaging in Votes and Forums on the Forum we were initially commenting on, and to assume I just mean to roll in and shit onto the discussion is, ironically, a bad faith assumption. And just because Staff are volunteers does not mean that their wrongdoing is any less wrong, and its hard to see them as "Just users" when they can get away with acting without or against policy just whenever it happens to suit them.

And to address the short "Honesty list"; 1) I've tried, hard to when it's falling apart around you. If I'm in a burning building, I'm going to try and put out the fire before I start fixing the upholstery. 2) Tried. I don't get heard that way. 3) Tried, community is unreceptive due to staff being likeable. I've toyed with the idea of a staff application in the past, however I doubt how effective I could be with even that, one man alone cannot fix all the problems.

I have thought about my approach a lot, but I assert again; I've tried to come forward with many of my issues in a polite way before, and the only one that's being acted on is the Staff Channel openness, and even then it would be vain that my pleas from a a handful of months ago influenced it's existence any more than years of pleas throughout the wiki's history has.

I could message you specifics as I have done in the past, if you wish, however quite frankly I've taken to this approach specifically because my issues have been met with "Yeah that's an issue" followed by silence, as if acknowledging an issue in private to one user improves the wiki in any respect.

I'll reiterate, any instance where I've omitted specific names I can very much provide them for, however it is up to you whether or not that would be a wise idea to do so openly. LovinglyGaslight (talk) 14:21, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

1) No, it is very flawed. An editor is not more or less important or cares more or less dependant on edit counts. As for judgements, I fail to see your point. Is it that "You haven't just been doing that because you've also been commenting on staff actions"? I cannot tell. If it's somehow claiming that few edits mean my opinion doesn't matter, I'd suggest reassessing that. One doesn't need to be a chef to comment on the quality of food, one doesn't need to be a politician to comment on the state of politics, etc. It's also an attempt to damage my position as opposed to my argument, which is poor form for debate.
2,3,12) You continue to not give the the ability to say names. I have names, I have proof, but I can not and will not give them openly without proper say-so. If I do get that permission, and a day to curate it in a coherent manner, I can and will. But you elected to assume that I don't have them as opposed to even risking the possibility I do by giving me that permission. Give me the right, I dare you.
5,6) As above
8) I would question that good faith, especially considering you openly considered yourself biased against me, which I consider to be self-admitted evidence of your bad faith in regards to myself at least. Especially being as that comment was made in regards to my comments on the forum which, as I reassert, others were also making.
9) In regards to Leon, now who's being general and non-specific. In regards to Dave, Infractions against him were public granted, however the sudden-ness isn't, Dave had been a part of the Wiki since 2009, but after over 10 years of what one could call "Good service", he just decided to be rule-breaking all of a sudden? In regards to Laat, his involvement in past events concerning Autumn's Discord Nuking are apparently being reassessed behind the scenes ("revelations that he was involved in the discord raid" to quote his block log, ones that have not been elaborated upon or publicly disclosed, and as I understand it the man himself is awaiting official reply and has been for some time). In regards to Intrepid, his accusation of being Dauntless simply doesn't hold up to me, he's got too many DMs as-well-as open conversations over too long a time, he either has an amazing WPM and is an amazing actor who has not broken character in months straight, or they're not one and the same (I inquired as to if the two had been checkuser'd, but I didn't receive a reply, which makes me assume they haven't been). In regards to Cor, the actions against him are highly irregular and they have not been given an end date for when the restrictions upon him will lift, which given he doesn't have access to staff channels anymore, I believe would impact his position.
10) To rejoice, maybe. I can certainly see that angle, however it is the opposite trend that concerns me. It's only staff, such as Dave, who have been around for over a decade but apparently all of a sudden decided over the past year to break rules, and to such an extreme degree.
11) I confess, that snag was a slip-up on my end. However, the reason Leon was unceremoniously booted from the server is what I was trying to refer to, and what concerns me. I compiled a list of reasoning why his ban doesn't add up closer to the time of it, that I believe still exists in Hall-of-Debate should you want to see it quicker than I can give you a reply.
13) Difficult to evidence a deleted comment, but inspired by a discussion I had earlier, I believe it is only right to assume it exists and take a guilty-until-proven-innocent approach. I did come across this official response to it however, which at least serves as partial proof.
If you want to look at facts, the fact I stated issues others were talking about should prove me not acting in bad faith. And I don't really see what is bad faith about it, since it is a legit possibility.
Once more, give me the official say-so, and lo you will have the names. I am not saying it is your responsibility to find this information, I am saying if you want me to give them, I need assurances. As an example, there is a wide difference between saying "Someone did something wrong" and saying "*You* fucked up", if you're permitting that level of specifics, you need only say clearly. However if you're going to ban me; then ban me. Because if you're so self-admittedly set against me, I think you know it will only end that way. LovinglyGaslight (talk) 22:42, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

On the case of Raptormoses, I suggest you or any other user don't reply to their talkpage so the discussion won't linger on. I'll see if that will work the next week and then see if more action is needed. As for Sigmund Fraud, I want to stay neutral because I'm not familiar enough with what's been said in Discord and I don't want to undermine the one that issued the ban. Who did issue the ban, I'd like to know the length of it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

article names[]

hello! the policy regarding article names is detrimental to the wiki because it provides false information. atomic rollers is not in fallout 4, it is in nuka-world. dlc for all games except 76 are separate from the main titles because they are purchased separately and not included in the vanilla game. so to say that atomic rollers is in fallout 4 is false and this policy promotes inaccurate information. if you could direct me towards where this policy was voted on, it would help so i can understand the rationale behind it. thank you! KnuckleheadAtSea (talk) 19:15, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

i can say the same in reverse though - good luck trying to play nuka-world if you only have fallout 4 with no dlcs. not every player of the game has the add-ons, so there must be some sort of separation between the base game and the dlcs. i don't see why it would extend to categorization but not article names. the only exception to this would be 76, but i suppose this is a discussion best left for when it comes to a vote. in any case thank you for your assistance! i think i have a better view of the situation now. Some info on this wiki with little sources to back it up[]

I have begun to notice that in this wiki's pages for Cazador and Timeline, that those Cazador creatures from New Vegas were apparently created in 2003 by Dr. Borous. The only source I've found that these statements from said pages rely on is a quote from Borous himself in game, during the Old World Blues DLC. Though, this doesn't add up because: Borous would've had to be 25-30+ years to be experienced enough in his scientific profession to know what he is doing (as well as to spend years actually studying science beforehand) which if he made Cazadors near the start of the 21st century, he would have been born during around the late/mid 1960s or early/mid 1970s. This would place him at slightly older or at 100 years when the Great War took place. The lore in Old World Blues' storyline is that the main Big MT scientists all preserved their brains in the Think Tank bots some time after the war took place (something like that implied in OWB's intro), in order to continue their research. So a scientist aged over 100 would not be very reliable to have as one of the people essentially running Big MT even before the war. The illustrated image of the Think Tank scientists when they were still humans (Probably right before the war) depict them as middle to senior aged, so Borous "remembering" that he made Cazadors in 2003 has to have been an example of Dr. Mobious messing the other scientists' perspective/memories. In my opinion it would make sense to add some note about this being speculative information. FlammableGas (talk) 19:57, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Need to put this out there, but Mobius states he did take some liberties with the others' programming when confronting him and the end of the add-on, including their names being changed to the theme of infinite figures. Great Mara (talk) 16:00, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
True, but that is still not a clear indicator of Borous being an unreliable narrator. Also, the Courier asked Mobius specifically about the re-programming of the scientist's names, not their memories. –FindabairMini-JSPnP LogoThe benefit of the doubt is often doubtful. 18:19, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

I dont even look at recent wiki activity often but this was not what i expected when i do. Youre deleting lots of stuff simply because Kdarrow added it to the wiki and she requested it to be removed. Discord Admin[]

Hey Findabair,

Do you remember how I was studying German and would occasionally ask you for questions about the language? I'm still going at it, and I was thinking of creating a new Discord server dedicated to studying German (and for Germans studying English). With that in mind, I would like a native German speaker to act as an administrator for the German-to-English part of the community and possibly as an initial mentor for language learners. You are the first person that pops into my head. It can be a strictly professional setting, where we otherwise only talk to discuss the administrative goings-on between the two portions of the community. In the early stages of its life (I only just created the shell of the server this morning and created a server image), I may ask you for advice about the layout and functionality of the server as well. If you do not want to be a member, I understand completely. Let me know on my talk page and I can get a link to you.

Thanks, Sigmund Fraud 13:38, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Alright. Well, thanks anyways. It's barely more than the skeletal shape of a server yet, since I only have channels set up. I don't even have rules drafted or anything. If your real life frees up and you reconsider, just let me know. Sigmund Fraud 13:31, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

I'm writing this to request permission to create a page for an unmarked location in Fallout: New Vegas. There's a small camp site that's listed on the extensive NV map, but it remains undocumented on Nukapedia. I wish to take the time to create documentation for this location as it has a couple quirks about it some may appreciate.
