Mentorship Program[]

So after talking to User:Intrepid359, he's expressed an interest in joining up with The Vault Academy as a new mentee for the General Editing program, and has agreed to be taken under your tutelage. Should you accept this partnership, please note as such on TVA page, and get into contact with your new mentee for their first lesson.

We do have a rudimentary set of guidelines listed on both TVA page and on its Mentor Guidelines sub-page, but of course feel free to reach out to me or the other mentors if you need guidance on how to proceed with your program. If at any time we make changes to these guidelines, we'll attempt to notify you of them either on your talk-page or through the Discord.

We really appreciate you signing up as a mentor - fostering new generations of editors is an important endeavor, and you'll be helping to pave the way to this wiki's future. Good luck, and have fun! 寧靜 Fox 13:38, September 27, 2020 (UTC)

TVA[]

Thanks for agreeing to take me on for the mentorship program! I'm very excited to get started :) In terms of communication, is it OK to communicate primarily over Discord, or do you have another preference? Discord is definitely where I do a majority of my communication, if that works for you!

In terms of strengths, I have access to a lot of the Fallout 76 technical details that are not currently on the wiki. In terms of things I'd like to know more about, that's a tough one. As they saying goes, "I don't know what I don't know." :) Tables, templates, categories, wiki standards/expectations, and wiki etiquette are all relatively fuzzy to me. How do I best display the information? How do I modify a table? How do I create a table and how do I use the right table for the job? Which section is appropriate to place certain information in? Am I doing something that is frowned upon? Those are the kind of questions that run through my head as I'm working on edits. I'm sure more will come up as we talk more!

Thank you again! --Intrepid359 (talk) 23:50, September 29, 2020 (UTC)

Question[]

So I am making a poll in general asking who is everyone's favorite companion, there are going to be multiple parts givin the restriction of only having six things in a poll, I was wondering if it would be possible to link them together somehow. You don't have to get back to be immediately but at your most convenient time. Thanks again --DawgEngineer03 (talk) 17:06, October 12, 2020 (UTC)

RE: RE: Editing/Discussions Moderator[]

Thanks, I think I'll make a Discord if/when I get the position. The only thing I'm worried about is my edit count. I only have made 8 edits (9 including this message), none of which are edits on actual wiki articles. That might be seen as having insufficient skill with basic editing, though I'm not sure because the interpretation of that requirement is rather subjective. --The Appalachian (talk) 11:10, October 24, 2020 (UTC)

Call to Action[]

There have been quite a few sweeping changes to the wiki lately, and now that the Unified Community Platform has come to fruition here, it's more important than ever for our leadership to get together and inspire innovative changes for the next generation of wiki editors/readers.

As someone who is somewhat inactive myself, I understand how life gets in the way, and I'll fully understand if many of you are unable to commit, but I'd still like to try my best to appeal to you all in getting involved in a few of our currently active projects; especially so since rights-users participating in our discussions/votes are at an all-time low, and many internal decisions are having to be made between a select few users, which is bad for building consensus on important matters.

As such, I would like to ask for you all to look into two of our most important projects right now, as it would mean a lot to me and the wiki if as many people as possible got directly involved in helping shape our future:

  1. The Vault Academy is a program for the training and acclimation of new and even veteran users, training them on how to get involved in the various facets of the wiki, as well as helping them build bonds with their fellow users. The program has kicked off in a big way, and we are in desperate need of more rights-users to sign on as mentors, as we're having to share multiple mentees between each mentor. If you're looking to leave your mark on the wiki, then signing onto TVA program will be your way of doing so.
  2. As a minor update, we now have a new plagiarism point of contact. Should you suspect plagiarized content is at play, please get into point with the user FDekker who will be the initial handler of all such cases going forward.
  3. We have an upcoming meeting of the minds coming up on the 20th of this month, and we need people to come forth and pitch their ideas for adapting to the recent UCP changes, and to possibly adopt some of the ideas that our new datamining friends have been pitching to us.

Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope to hear back from you all! Even if it is just some of you dropping by to check the place out and say a quick hello. 寧靜 Fox 14:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Thread locking[]

I didn't get a chance to clarify, and you went ahead and locked the thread with your assumption. That's purely neglection. Khang (talk) 16:23, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

  1. Not everyone has the time to "stalk" a thread so to say you gave them a "plenty" of time with just 10 mins... That's neglection.
  2. The links are apparently from reliable domains (Github, Chrome extension store, Firefox addon store). You didn't bother to check and made assumption based on your unawareness. That's neglection. -- Khang (talk) 00:55, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Discussions[]

Apologizes for my behavior then, it just seems that I have often been the first one to notice consecutive posting lately, and I suppose I got a bit tired of repeating myself. If you look at a lot of my instances I do tell them to use the edit function on their previous post. Just to be fully on the same page, should I actually not be doing any moderating on discussions at all since i am not a DM? Or am I within my rights to ask people to not consecutively post (nicely of course)? Branebriar1930 (talk) 16:56, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

That's honestly a bit of a relief, I only told people to stop double-posting because I thought I had to, I actually loath doing it. Going to dial it back and be less on the lookout for it from now on. Branebriar1930 (talk) 10:50, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Nukapedian of the Year[]

Yeah, sure I'll take the nomination. Did NomadicNom take his?

I don't really know to say, other than that I'm one of the few "Old Timers" here and might as well get my Bronze Cane for being around for so long. I made my profile here back in the days when Fallout 3 just came out. I've certainly seen a lot of changes in the wiki and its users have come and gone since that time. Polls were one of the "big things" of those days and it would not be uncommon so see 100+ comments in that section as people just hung out there. Sadly, those days are long gone (not to mention the poll code itself is now gone, too), but hopefully some day those days - while not being like the Days of Old - can come back again, in part, and the Polls won't be forgotten like an old city newspaper people no longer read because everyone went to internet forums. Thanks for accepting me![]

Hey there and thanks for checking in.

I've lurked on the server for quite some time, actually. That and the datamining server. My Discord name is SitOnA-Rick [PS4]#7728 and its probably easier to reach me there... then again, I do spend quite a bit of time on the wiki - I almost always have at least one tab opened in my browser for it.

As far as talking to anyone about it - not in so many words. I must admit that I have a somewhat selfish reason for wanting to help with editing - I keep a hand written records book containing lists of various data so that I can easily reference it without having to use my phone or laptop. I have a thing about writing by hand and creating my own resources for things.

Anyhoo, I'm also a bit on the OCD side when it comes to uniformity and accuracy of information (or at least as far as it can be) and the next section in my personal compendium is based on locations in 76... and after some preliminary research and a bit of discussion about it on the datamining server it has come to my attention that there are some inconsistencies with the info shown in the infoboxes as well as not knowing/verifying that it is accurate.

So I'd like to help change that! Since I'm doing it for my own reasons anyways I thought I'd try and give back to the community by sharing my research.

Which is what brought me to TVA and signing up...

Sorry for the legit wall of text. You'll quickly find that I am the type of person who can write a 10 page description of a bowl of fruit... lol

Feel free to reply on my talk page or find me on Discord. Looking forward to learning from you! Update : forgot a ~ in signature... SitOnA-Rick (talk) 20:07, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Challenge Accepted[]

My favorite reoccurring creature in the Fallout series has got to be the deathclaw. No other creature in any video game has instilled such a feeling of absolute terror in me. I can remember playing New Vegas and doing every other quest besides the one that you have to gather eggs for to prevent having to venture into their territory. Despite their reputation, deathclaws are actually quite photogenic. I even managed to get extremely close to one once! Hi Dyre, Is this How i "Leave a Message"[]

Hi Dyre, i'm sorry this is the first time i have used a .. forum interface with these settings, did i leave a message correctly on your talk page? Actually i never found that button you said. I clicked on 'Create Topic' to right of the page.

Well, i went ahead with Bethesda, but some funny things with their launcher. Before i get there, i wonder what's wrong with bethesda.net community site? it would appear all options to do anything has been restricted from me. meaning, there's no buttons to do anything like "Create New Forum Topic", and i think i could not even reply to anyone's post. at first i thought it was my browser, but then i upgraded to a new firefox, same thing.

A. sorry to trouble you, but i experienced some weird things with the launcher. much like their site... most of tabs or options, if i click on them, system msg on top just says "Uh-Oh Looks Like We're Experiencing Some Problems" or something like that. This just happened as I am currently downloading FO76. I clicked on the "Shop" tab to see if i can spot anything you told me about (i assume this is the Atomic Store), and i get "Uh-Oh..."

B. Another thing is, i am wondering how i can change my Online/Offline Status while logged-in to the launcher. You know, like... remain hidden or something like that. is this possible, because i checked Settings and i do not see such option.

C. Lastly, i would like to ask, after i launch into the game, could i minimize to desktop and log-off then exit the Launcher? i would prefer to not leave the Launcher in logged-in status or running at all.

Thanks in advance

You know, i think FO76 is going to be a lot harder to learn for me than other mmo's cos, i just read somewhere on wiki that Fallout 76 has no GUI-Based Chat Interface!@?! LOL that is ridiculously absurd, cos i don't think all players are comfortable with inbuilt voicechat or server-based ventrilo. But i'm not afraid so much about this cos i have read many player complaints about this. i think bethesda would eventually comply with this players' request. Just that in the meantime, a new player could not just shout on general or world chat like other mmo's for help/advice.

However, until then, it appears the best place to ask questions/seek help would be here. i'm pretty impressed with the speed of response on this forum. ttyl, thanks for all the help so far. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ElevenBravo (talkcontribs) 14:56, June 15, 2021 (UTC). Discord[]

Considering one admin was unilaterally able to make changes to the Discord parameters without community input, including restoring the username condition that was removed as it wasn’t a rule, and justifying it with him having to lift a finger to do so, I won’t be in there until measures to prevent one member of the admin team from doing similar actions is put into place. And definitely won’t be in the server as long as they are still a part of it. Great Mara (talk) 16:14, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

That’s a cognitive failure. Everyone can see the changelog, not everyone can see the Discord or find prior conversations easily. What is in poor taste is said user directly ignoring prior edits and freely edit warring without consequence or warning from the admin team. I’m not going to waste my breath on them, let alone my time. Editors also shouldn’t have to continually repeat themselves over the same issues over and over every time a new nail that wants to stick out comes along. Great Mara (talk) 10:59, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
That sentiment is the opposite of what it should be. Less than stellar edits that aren't addressed as quickly as possible slip through the cracks and go unnoticed for hours to months, also while there are admins actively going through their personal projects on the wiki and not paying attention to the changelog. Especially noticeable when things like this go unaddressed when at least two admins were active during the same time period. And if you want to talk about communication, you should also remember that none of said editors apparently took time to address "vague" edit summaries here instead of hiding on Discord.
As far as Discord access goes, I can't tell whether you're not registering the problem or deliberately being obtuse. Yes, the links to Discord are there, but frankly having been on there before, information is much easier to access on Fandom (even on mobile) compared to scrolling for several minutes trying to find a conversation or hoping you search the right phrase in the search bar. And that's assuming things aren't completely lost if someone with rights in the Discord decides to delete all the channels. Again. Great Mara (talk) 21:41, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Sarcasm[]

I will be honest. My post to Gaslight was clearly sarcastic and is stated accordingly. If Gaslight is allowed to sling conspiracy theories around on a vote, I'm certainly allowed to jokingly do the same. If there's a problem with conspiracy theories, I expect you owe Gaslight a talk page message as well. It can't be wrong when I do it as a joke and right when Gaslight does it on several votes. Which is it? DauntlessX (talk) 15:47, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

You didn't use it correctly, and it's not the right tag in my opinion. Missing data doesn't work with the game abbreviation tag, and the tag should only be used on data content, like with different kinds of tables that are missing data. Parts of lesson 14 will be repeat info, but the category section I think is important enough to suggest having them complete it anyway. Two questions I need help with[]

Hi Mr. Wolf, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Charlotte and my mom is Kdarrow and she told me not to come to her with questions and that I have to come to talk to you if I have any questions, so here I am with questions! Alright so lets get started. My first question is how do I edit the pages Nursery design document/1 and Nursery design document/2? I have to change some links that are redirects but it just says "view source" with a lock symbol where the edit button usually is. What is this madness?

The second question is about an article called iguana. So this article says that they are never seen in game, they are only mentioned as a part of food items. Ok all is well and good so far, except then the article says all these claims like they "range from three to six feet in length, and inhabit tropical and desert biomes," and that their "appearance is not significantly affected by radiation." But, but ... if we never see these dudes ... how do we know what they look like? And where is a tropical place in the games? The last sentence, "iguanas have evidently expanded their range from what it was before the war" doesn't make any sense to me to begin with. Expanded range? What is that? Range of what?

Alrighty those are all the questions I have today. I bet they are easy for you buuut not so much for me. Thank you for your time and helping me solve these riddles. I hope your day is going good so far. Bye bye for now! -bowndarrow Burger box 22:05, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Don't you love when an admin/rights holder takes a personal DM from Discord and displays it on a talk page without the other users permission? Especially after the user asked for the situation to be dropped several times and even came to you (after your TP message) in private with my explanation and to avoid further TP messages that do not concern wiki matters. As I said, I am not going to debate this further. If you have any further comments or concerns take them up with Fandom on their ToU policies. Especially since my caution was taken harshly. If she feels so strongly about it then maybe you as an administrator should advise her to get ahold of Fandom directly? Because, as you can see by now, getting ahold of me does nothing for either of you. You have both been asked to leave me alone, on multiple occasions now. You haven't stated anything that I have done wrong, yet we are here still. Also if you could stop saying that I said that she will not live long. "Last" and "Live" are separate words with many meanings. If you wish to quote, then quote, but do not paraphrase to suit a need. Enough is enough, now either take it to Fandom, or drop it. You know, for being a community-elected official of this wiki you sure don't listen to the people in the community that ask you to leave them alone. Lastly, if you see something on my profile that you feel needs deleted, feel free to if you truly do have the rights to. But we both know I didn't violate anything, and if I did, this would be a different conversation, right? Right. Like I said, feel free to get Fandom involved if you or her feel concerned about it, otherwise everything you and Kdarrow have said to me, between yourselves about my conduct, or in general to this situation is null to the situation.

Since we're making assumptions about what other people's think and do then you must be to pretty daft to overlook the whole overthinking and over analyzing part of everything that was said. Because everything you stated is an observation but it is also an opinion. Just because those overseers were murdered means nothing. It's just a coincidence that you're putting in as a threat. I see you have still not banned me, removed anything from my profile, or anything of the sort. Are you having fun just typing words for the sake of it? Because it seems no matter what I say you just come back with some whiny, pretentious bullshit about how I'm doing something wrong even though you have not done anything to prove it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, get Fandom involved, otherwise you should stop wasting both our time. Since I know Kdarrow is looking this is also an open invitation to her to get Fandom involved. Just because you respond to this does not mean you will get the answers you seek or your questions will be resolved at all. As I see it you still have choices. You should make them wisely, right? Notice how we're not even talking really about the same subject anymore. Another thing you got to remember is you have been asked to intervene but every time that it's been addressed by me that I will no longer elaborate on this situation further (to which I haven't other than to say get Fandom several times) you start repeating your words as do I (mainly because it seems you do not read my words, I ASSUME) just because you repeat them does not get them across to me, (especially when there was no wrong doing. That must be the same for me then, huh. So do you want to continue this? How big do you want to make yourself look? Because this is pointless.

Warning[]

Hi Dyre, great to see you again! I wish this could be under more fun circumstances but unfortunately I don’t like to edit much after being doxxed. You remember that right, the thing that wasn’t my fault because I was a victim? I don’t know why I even said that, because nothing is ever a victim’s fault! We don’t say murder or rape victims deserved it because they brought it on themselves, that would be silly! But I digress.

This, as the title implies, is about your warning from earlier (ew, official business I know lol). I perused the rules to see if they’ve changed since I’ve been gone but sure enough they have not! Minimodding is still not against the rules. Can it be annoying when someone who isn’t a moderator acts like one? You bet! But it isn’t against the rules. It also, funnily enough, isn’t even the case if the person “minimodding” is actually a moderator. The term in that case is just “modding” (?) I believe? Lol. As I’m sure you know, it’s not the tools that make the mod but the community vote! That actually reminds me, I seem to have misplaced my moderation toolbox so if you’ve seen it anywhere please let me know how to get ahold of it. Pesky thing. Right when we need to bring on three mods for one troll, my handy tools go away! We could have had even more help with the single person! Darn!

Don’t worry, there’s no need to delete your warning on the official thread for giving warnings about breaking the rules and ban notifications. I just thought I’d clarify and say hello!

But yeah really if you know where I left my tools please lmk them shits important

Hugs and kisses!! Laat the Survivor RangerSequoia (talk) 03:49, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

Re: Warning stands[]

Hi Dyre! Thanks for following up! As you can see in the rules you linked, there is no mention of minimoderation so I’m glad we came to a consensus on that! I also take your silence on victim blaming as an agreement!

Moving on, assuming I’m here to stir the pot is in violation of our good faith policy, which our staff is meant to abide by. I haven’t made any inflammatory posts or comments on discussions, simply trying to get back in the swing of things! I’ve been out of it since being doxxed. Likely by a staff member, based on the whole “you shouldn’t have snitched” line they dropped. And then definitely *not* being victim blamed ;). Thought that since I’m a little more free now I’d help out again!

That brings me to my next point: I can’t help out now! Since you didn’t comment on my missing tools I have to assume someone took them. But that would really suck, seeing as that violates our rules! This is the current standing policy (I’m on mobile so forgive the ugly link!): https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Vote:Inactivity_policy_referendum

Seeing as I have not broken any rules (except being very upbeat!) I’m mildly concerned about your latest warning of a ban, seeing as those are meant for rule breakers! Which, by definition, I am not! Which is strange, because it would appear the staff is? Since removing rights on grounds of inactivity is against policy, I’d be concerned that you guys haven’t looked into this! Please return them to all the affected people soon, or else you’ll be breaking the rules even longer! Hell, you didn’t even notify us! Why was that? I feel bad now!

Now, on a less upbeat and more serious tone, I do not believe it is your place to threaten me, even if it is in your position as an admin. You have shown you have no good faith towards me (which you have recently admitted in your last message), and furthermore I am uncomfortable making any post at all tied to my IP after being doxxed by what was implied by the perp to be a staff member and your victim blaming after the fact. If you have issue with me or anything I have said, please use a non-Nukapedia staff mediator, preferably our community manager Pie.

Undemocratic removal of staff rights[]

Dear Dyre, I would like to inform you that the removal of my staff rights are undemocratic. Please reinstate all relevant roles, be it with rights or without roles at your earliest convenience. The vote on user rights activity standard have not pass yet either, and I have not resigned from my position in an official manner. IcyMystic (talk) 08:25, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

RE: "Intent to be Inactive"[]

I'd like to clarify about the message that was left on my talk page. I do not have an intent to be inactive, but its in fact the very opposite. There's a reason why I have been slowly making return to the discord over the last few months. It was inaccurate to say that I changed my statement, because my intent had always been to stay on, just not return to moderation in its full capacity immediately. The messages you added as proof is also misleading without further context on what was mentioned before and after.

As such, I'd like to request the return of rights. It is also unfair that other inactive at the moment did not get their staff rights removed immediately, and such treatment should be the same for all inactive staff, even more so since I have been active in SD over the last few weeks, beginning my return to Nukapedia. Your removal of my rights are unjust, and further corrective actions should be taken in this case. LogoMakr 14Z3y6 11:06, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Talk Page[]

I'll be sure to use the talk page in the future, then. Still, in regards to the Republic's gold reserves, I removed the "in order to stave off actual economic collapse" part because 1. it's incredibly misleading as to what actually happened and 2. the citations themselves make absolutely no mention of the NCR economy "collapsing", let alone coming even remotely close to collapse.

All that we know is that the NCR Dollar suffered a great deal of inflation out in the frontier and that's about it. Unless somebody can prove otherwise, of course. As for the disagreements that I've had with certain other editors, the only person that I've had issues with is Branebriar. Who's quite frankly too busy hiding behind arbitrary rules and technicalities to have an actual lore discussion. I've gotten along just fine with everybody else. Hello[]

Hi Dyre Wolf, I'm looking for some old hands to talk to about a possible idea, but I need to get an idea of the lay of the land first. I'll be sitting in discord for a few days, can you hit me up when you have a chance? Agent c (talk) 02:49, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

Discussions Rules[]

Hey, hitting you up about this because you're the only admin who moderates /d regularly, not because I think you're at fault for anything. But I've noticed pretty regularly in my return to /d, that we moderators tend to delete posts that aren't against any rules I can find written anywhere. Off topic being one, the polls being another. Maybe the polls can be seen as spam but I think that's a stretch. Anyways, I was wondering if there was some other rule book we were going off of? Or are there some unwritten rules? And if so it's probably time we put those to vote and make it official. Imagine you're a new user and you read through the rules presented to you and then you post an off topic post or a poll and it just gets deleted. Would be mighty confusing. And it makes /d look even more bare than it is. But that's irrelevant, I just want to know if we're in the middle of changing the rules, making a vote on it, or simply running on some other rule book idk about. Appreciate the time. RE: Discussions Rules[]

I'm on board with some polls being spam but the off topic is still confusing. If we do not want to allow off topic threads outside of the annually made one then we should make it clear. The rules just say it could happen and are very vague on how long etc. We should also make the off topic thread easily findable and available to new users if we do not want to allow off topic posts. Maybe it is but I just haven't seen it anywhere easy to find. Just imagine being new and then read the rules. You would not take it as "I can't post off topic" since it directly says it's allowed but that it CAN be directed to one thread when it gets to be too much. But I just don't know if that's applicable any more since it's my understanding we haven't allowed off topic in a good while. Jon the Don -JBour53 (Talk to my consigliere) 05:12, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

it helps a bit. But if I understood what you wrote correctly then I'd say I knew most of that. I guess my confusion came from noticing a couple times in my return that we delete off topic threads even if they aren't what I'd consider spam. But moderation discretion is important and I'll give those actions the benefit of the doubt. Thank you for your assistance. thanks for bearing the bearer of kind words and good news. Even though I was knocked out for the last two days, I will try my best to keep up the momentum gained from this acknowledgement. Have a wonderful Thursday.

Screen Rant April Fools[]

The Screen Rant article was not made by them but me. Though it was April Fool for my North and South American friends as they are the only people still in April 1st, it had the potential for a discussion about where Fallout 5 could be, the potential for Chicago to be the location and how a game in Chicago could play out. I find it quite hypicritcal for someone to advocate for my 'Caesar find xx book' series to have meaning and to engage people to discuss while deleting a post that was doing that. And I know what a hypicrit is as Kdarrow said on my Fallout speculation #1. So, all I wish for his that post to be given another chance like how I wish Obsidian will be given another chance at Fallout. Topeka-guy (talk) 04:53, 2 April 2022 (UTC)Topeka Guy

I'm Tired[]

I'm tired. I'm tired of this looming threat. I know the next ban is a Month long and that the previous bans I have deserved for the most part. But this looming threat has put me off. If I take the Month ban now, can we wipe the slate clean, or just wipe the slate clean now. If I'm going to be banned, its going to be by me and on my terms. Topeka-guy (talk)

Ban reviews[]

Hey Dyre,

Don't know if it got lost in the shuffle, but I recently did a survey of some recent bans to see if unadopted policies (ie- the oens that weren't voted on right) were used. You can find the result Here. Good news is out of the sample, almost all are fine, but they are almost overwelmingly advertising, spam, vandalism, and socks. There are a number I think warrant further review; there seems to have been a habit to mirror discord bans onto the wiki (which relied on an unadopted rule), a few that seem to touch on discord, and there's one for Skortch I think is unfair and needs to be considered for review. There's also a number I'm calling "amber" which are for things like edit wars, but they're over things that were parts of unadopted poliices (eg Canon). I hope you and the other admins take a look. Request for administrative action[]

As you have probably seen, I have compiled a rather thorough list the misconduct of User:kdarrow at User:TheGunny2.0/Sandbox2. I am forwarding this to all active administrators and you to request that immediate administrative action be taken on both the user conduct violations and admin rights abuses. Please consider the entirety of this inquiry and I ask you you pay special attention to the summary conclusion stating that the remedies for the sum of Kdarrows actions are to be found in the user conduct guidelines via application of wiki block and in the admin conduct policy via application of rights removal. I can not state enough that the gross violations of policy do not have a remedy in policy via a vote of confidence, that the administration, including you and the other active administrators, have the authority to apply blocks and rights removals without a vote. I would appreciate it if you would look into this and then inform me of your intentions. TheGunny2.0 (talk) 22:28, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

I would just like to add, I do think its appropriate that if Kate wanted to make a statement in her own defence she should be allowed to; and if she does I believe it should be considered. I believe her followers are now aware of the charges against her, and should one of them want to relay a statement from her (I would suggest in a form that makes its clear its her, and not someone advocating for her, such as a screenshot of a discord message or email) I believe they should be allowed to. That said, I am also told that she supposedly has panic attacks when Nukapedia is mentioned (although I have some skepticism about such claims). That said, there is no requirment in the rules for any such request to be requested before or after any action is taken. Given the scale of the problem, I don't know where such a defence would even start. Agent c (talk) 16:56, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Speaking specifically on what the exact policies outline, there is nothing in the user conduct guidelines pertaining to any defense of actions prior to application of a block, nor is there anything in our policies about contesting said block. Also, per Fallout Wiki:Administration policy/Conduct#Rights abuse, there is no mechanism requiring a defense prior to application of that policy and the subsequent removal of rights. I will quote the following:
In the event of a dispute over misuse of rights, a bureaucrat shall appoint a board of three neutral administrators to determine if there is initial cause to investigate. The Investigating parties are expected to gather all evidence that is reasonably accessible. If it is found that there has been a misuse of rights, they will recommend action based on established guidelines. Either party may appeal the board's finding. In the event of an appeal, all sitting bureaucrats will determine final disposition of the complaint. The accused shall retain the right to demand a user-rights removal request at any time during this process.
This is the provision that allows a rights holder to dispute actions based on the policy after the fact. It is certainly within anyone's rights to contest a finding using that policy and the course of that is clearly outlined.
Considering the severity, scope and quantity of policy violations charged, you of course can extend the courtesy of the right to an explanation of their actions, and in this case, as Agentc states above may be the considerate thing to do. I simply want to make sure it is on the record that it is not required under either policy. As we've found recently there are a few gaps in policy that we may want to address re: the right to contest administrative actions. Precedent is important and if this courtesy is extended, it must be noted that is exactly that, rather than a requirement in policy. All that being said, if Kdarrow wishes to respond to the charges, I welcome that and am prepared defend those charges.TheGunny2.0 (talk) 00:22, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
All is good, thanks for the message. And for sure, take whatever time is needed. There's a lot to unpack with all of this, and quite frankly, we haven't even really touched everything that has gone on these last few years. I know there's general agreement with most folks of a desire to move on, and while there are some thing many feel really need to be addressed, I'm trying my best to focus on things that are both important and critical. We're working on the review of Dave's blocks and will have something in due time. At present, I'm not certain there is anything else in the pipeline like this on the radar other than a new canon policy proposal and at some point we will have to look at some of the policy issues that have been identified as areas for improvement. I will probably make a change to the user conduct guidelines soon, at Pikuski's request, just removing tables from the page and making those sections prose so they have the same visual importance like she suggested, but that's just a formatting thing. https://fallout.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003622979 I too was wondering why the user in question was getting upset at me out of the blue, but then I thought back to this thread and checked it, low and behold- the answer's right there. He's holding a grudge about our interactions in that thread clearly. I don't know how to reconcile a conflict like that, I'm frankly not going to apologise for anything I said in that thread, so if he wants to carry on holding this grudge then I don't honestly know what I can do about it.
