Userpage Templates[]

Hello there, DisgustingWastelander! Remember me? Anyway, I just wanted to ask if Users are allowed to make templates just for their Userpages. Judging by The Gunny's Userpage, I assume so, but I just wanted to check if normal Users are permitted to make Userpage templates.

If we are allowed to, how do we title them? All of the templates on The Gunny's Userpage are just titled "User:The Gunny/ *part of Userpage* ", but should I title them "Template: *What I want to call it* ", or can I just use The Gunny's naming style? I am not used to the way of making templates on this wiki (PvZ Wiki gives you a prompt for what type of page you want to make when making a new page), so will typing "Template" at the start of a new page make it a template page here, or will it still be read as a Mainspace page?

Title Template[]

Okay, thanks for letting me know. Just out of curiosity, why was the Title template deleted? Am I allowed to recreate it, or not? ZOMBIECRAB INCORPORATED® 00:07, October 22, 2017 (UTC)Zombiecrab

It changes what is displayed on your Userpage and/or Talk Page to whatever you want, so I'm going to see if it can change my displayed Username on my Userpage (not Talk Page) just in case I want it to appear as something more... Fallout-themed on this wiki. I hope that isn't against the rules. ZOMBIECRAB INCORPORATED® 00:16, October 22, 2017 (UTC)Zombiecrab
Thank you for telling me about the easier alternative. It doesn't seem to be working on my Userpage, for some reason. ZOMBIECRAB INCORPORATED® 00:42, October 22, 2017 (UTC)Zombiecrab

Light Bulb Page[]

You recently sent me a link asking me about the page I had just created. The page I am making is about the basic lightbulb settlement object. I had saved the picture without including a picture as I was still in the process of uploading the picture. I will finish the page soon. Thanks --Abby Corbett (talk) 16:33, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

Light Bulb Image[]

I see that you have removed my image as it is not up to standards. Would the photo be acceptable if it had the background removed and was a photo of the light bulb on its own? --Abby Corbett (talk) 17:49, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

Screenshots[]

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I am playing on PS4 so it is harder to transfer screenshots to my computer. Also do all settlement objects need to have a baseid included in the infobox? --Abby Corbett (talk) 17:58, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

Major Dhatri page[]

If Major Dhatri is not the commanding officer of 1st Recon Battalion in "Fallout: New Vegas", then there's a problem with that page, because it SAYS on there that his role in the game is "1st Recon commander". And I am fairly sure there is dialogue somewhere that specifies him as being in command of the unit. Why else would he be at McCarran and be so involved in the battalion's work against the Fiends, anyway?

Either Dhatri IS in command of the battalion, in which case the edit I made should stay, because it's interesting why the CO wouldn't wear the battalion's distinctive beret. If he ISN'T in command, then all mention of him being in command needs to be removed from the page on Dhatri. Either way I'd say it is time to go digging through dialogue files and see if anything is mentioned yea or nea. I am not trying to start an edit war, but I am surprised so many people know so many things that I never knew about this character despite having played the game he appears in several times.

In response to your reply on my Talk page: I am at a loss here. So the people running the Fallout wiki just assume, every time there is an editing dispute, that the two people having the dispute should, can and will resolve it themselves? What happens if that doesn't work? --90TheGeneral09 (talk) 23:17, January 12, 2018 (UTC)

Pillory[]

Looks better doesn't it. First I extracted the nif from the game files (with BAE), then I used Nifskope to open it and fiddle with the render options. Wasn't good enough, render was too light, similar to yours. To make it more realistic I used Autocontrast making it darker and add seemingly a bit more texture to it. Finally I used Brightness/contrast (automatic) to improve it just that little more. We should do the same with some other workshop objects, they're unrealistic/too light. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:43, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

I'll give you tips later on when I have some more time. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:25, January 13, 2018 (UTC)
I takes a lot of typing to explain it. Try searching Google for BAE extractor, you'll get a link to nexusmods and there's also a YouTube link. Do the same thing with typing Nifskope in Google search. You can use Nifskope open the extracted ba2 files from Fallout 4. You need to extract at least the meshes and the textures map. The meshes are the model files, the textures give these models the color and texture. In Nifskope, go to Options, Settings, Resources and Autodetect game paths to let the program know where the files are. To adjust the images in Nifskope, fiddle with the options in the Render menu. If you've done that save the file (Camera button) and then use Photoshop to make it transparent, then go to Images, Autocontrast. Then use Adjustments, Brightness/contrast, Automatic. Try this, if you have questions along the way I'll hear it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:29, January 13, 2018 (UTC)
Ok, you're making progress. Meshes are the models and have the extension .nif. Textures don't have the nif extension, but a .dds extension. They are applied as texture over the models in the meshes map. You should have two different maps: /Meshes and /Textures. You opened Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2, but did you open Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2 already? This is the file with the textures and generates all the texture files when you open it with BAE. There are 9 of these files, so make sure you have a lot of space on the disk because you'll get a few 100000 files. You can also search each map before extracting (with BAE) for the good mesh/texture, your choice. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:35, January 13, 2018 (UTC)
Nifskope resources tab
Yes, they are automatically applied to the mesh, but only if you have them configured correctly in the resources map. See the image, this is where I have the files. Try Autodetect game paths, otherwise configure it manually. If the paths are good, and you have extracted the files in the meshes and textures map, it should work. Maybe if it doesn't work for you, you haven't extracted the right Fallout 4 - Texture?.ba2 file with the texture you need yet. Try texture2 through 9 until you have color on the desired mesh. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:49, January 13, 2018 (UTC)
For the workshop add-ons (like the pillory) you need to extract the DLCworkshop01/02/03 - Main.ba2 (meshes) and the DLCworkshop01/02/03 - Textures.ba2 files! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:54, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

( Toilet looks good, I can see you've done some work on it with an image editor which is good, because it needs as much texture as possible to make it look alive. This image has one color though, so very specific. Keep working on other images and the render options if needed. You're on the right track. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:23, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

Siren[]

If there's an image in the infobox that already has a good name, you should overwrite it and not upload a new image with a name that is nearly the same (Fo4 Siren.png compared to FO4 Siren.png). It's rather pointless and saves you editing the page to change the name. I do it all the time with images that have a good name already. That way also the history of the image is saved. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:52, January 14, 2018 (UTC)

I did that to demonstrate my point. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:59, January 14, 2018 (UTC)

Talkpage template[]

The chances that someone would add something to that specific talkpage are below 0,01 percent I think, doesn't need the template. I don't consider it a priority putting it on talkpages, only with the more high traffic pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:03, January 15, 2018 (UTC)

Aha, that's a valid question. Well, I don't really like what it leaves, a deleted page and clearly visible it is one. Then I tend to prefer to redirect it. Both is good I think, but this is my preference. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:07, January 15, 2018 (UTC)

Edit Warring Objection[]

You and I have run into each other before, and I've clashed with numerous other users on this site. I know that this makes me appear combative and so on. But what has brought it up, every single time? What has been the cause of it all? Edit conflicts. Edit wars. And how has literally every single one of them happened? I make an edit. Someone else comes along and revert that edit. A site admin, another user, whatever. They come along and just revert the edit. Not modify it, not ask me, hey, what's up with that edit? No. 100% retaliation, just revert the edit completely. That's how you do things reasonably, yeah? You just obliterate what the other guy did. And then, oh, my sweet goodness, how DARE I respond and try to defend the edit I made?! I have been ordered to stop "edit warring" but what I would like to know is when exactly you people are going to change the way you control this wiki. I submit several objections in the strongest possible terms and protest that this system is allowed to exist in this way:

1. Anyone who reverts an edit is presumed good. They need provide no explanation. They do not need to discuss it beforehand with the previous editor. They have FULL license to undo any edit, for any reason, any time, anywhere. It is officially assumed that they did it for a good reason. This is an assumption, an unsubstantiated assumption, and it is naive.

2. Anyone who reverts a revert of an edit is assumed criminal and bad. So User A makes an edit. User B reverts it. Maybe they give a reason, maybe they don't. Either way, when User B reverts it, then it becomes an edit war and User B is held to be at fault while User A walks off clean.

3. There seems to be a strong preference on this website for keeping pages however they happen to be. I have edited extensively on Wikipedia and Wikiquote, MUCH larger websites that have to put up with way more vandalism and genuinely faulty edits than this one does. And you know something? They like me just fine. My work is often appreciated by site administrators and I am left alone. Here, I do not feel that way. I feel unwanted and persecuted. I am not a vandal. I am not deliberately picking fights. I am trying to help. And it does not look like that matters.

4. In the case of the page on Davey Crenshaw, I had my edit initially undone because another user claimed the edit I made was "not in the .txt file". I reverted the revert and pointed out that it is. Pretty soon, though, other people started getting into it. Reverts were done again and again, with every new reverter 100% assuming that the page was better off "before the edit war". No examination OF the edit, nothing, just "Let's put it back."

5. This site expects that anyone who gets an edit of theirs reverted to discuss things in detail with the person who reverted their edit. WHY does the burden of diplomacy and discussion lie with User B and not with User A? Why is it that if any old user reverts an edit, THEY are assumed to be in the right by this site's authorities, while anyone who has a problem with their edit being reverted must go through all these channels and practically take it to Congress? A LOT more is expected of a user who gets an edit reverted than the user who does the reverting. What seems to be implied in this is that I may revert as many of others' edits as I please. But oh, boy, I will be in trouble if I defend an edit I make.

I realize that I am upset about this, and that I am probably coming off as a terrible user and a problem for the website. I affirm that I have been, and am now, trying to help and to improve the site. I have been shocked from the beginning at the way that reverting an edit is so common on this site. It is freely permitted. Even some of my most moderate and verified-in-game edits are open to being reverted for no specified reason at all. I have no rights as the defendant. I must prove myself and my edit worthy and valid, because again, the burden is on me and not on whoever reverted my edit. I apologize for stirring up my share of trouble and then some, but I strongly insist that I am not a pirate or vandal and that this website is hardly run as well as Wikipedia or Wikiquote, which are, after all, the oldest websites of this format. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this. I may seem hot-headed but I welcome the chance to talk to soemone abut this. I just can't stand being seen as the bad guy because everyone is allowed to revert my edits and I have to get their permission before putting my edit back, no matter what it is or who they are. --90TheGeneral09 (talk) 16:41, January 19, 2018 (UTC)

I would like to add that I don't really bear any ill-will against anyone on this site. I am upset and genuinely alarmed by how often my edits get reverted, and as I said, some of the ways this site appears to operate are genuinely flawed to me. I know that you are doing a necessary job as a site administrator and a neutral party, and I don't doubt you are good at what you do. I am just an ordinary user trying to improve the site. I look like a bad guy because of all these clashes, but I am trying to help. I really am. I would not spend so much time adding to and improving pages if I wanted to rip this site up or make it worse. Well, if I was a very determined pirate, maybe, but I am not. I don't have a cutlass. --90TheGeneral09 (talk) 16:55, January 19, 2018 (UTC)

Misuse of powers[]

Why is an admin involved in the edit war allowed to use his powers on that page? Not just that, he reverted me again after protecting the page. This is blatant misuse and an involved admin shouldn't be allowed to use his powers on an article. MatthewOne (talk) 00:41, June 21, 2018 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind if it was any other admin. However, Paladin117 locking and reverting me again is blatant conflict of interest. Please lift the lock and lock it back yourself as you are uninvolved. After that decide which version to restore. Whether you want to revert me or not, I wouldn't oppose you at all. All I want is an uninvolved admin to decide. MatthewOne (talk) 00:54, June 21, 2018 (UTC)
It's about following the principles and policies. Everyone should follow the rules, not just me. Admins shouldn't use their powers they are involved in. I refuse to recognise Paladin117's lock and revert since they are conflict of interest. MatthewOne (talk) 01:03, June 21, 2018 (UTC)
You are not deciding what to restore, but you are letting Paladin117 decide. MatthewOne (talk) 01:06, June 21, 2018 (UTC)

Nukapedia and Fandom/Wikia talks[]

Hi,

Apologies for the impersonal nature of this message, as I'm relaying the same thing to admins and people who have previously expressed a view on featured video. Forgive me if I tell you some things you already know.

We have a call scheduled with Wikia this Friday. We need your input - and the input from as many others as possible. We're hoping to settle once and for all what our relationship is, if it can be salvaged, and what the future should be, as until we settle these featured video can't be settled.

Please, have a look at this forum and tell us what you think.

In addition to looking at our own future hosting option, we've also been in talks with other hosts. Included in these is Gamepedia/Curse. We have an ongoing dialogue with them, and if you have any questions about a possible unification to the vault, please do let me know and I'll relay any similar response we've had, and if your question is a first, I'll ask the question.

Thanks again. Remember, War never changes. Agent c (talk) 21:05, July 2, 2018 (UTC)

Deletion request for two pages[]

I propose deleting Reflex sight (circle) (Fallout 4) and Reflex sight (dot) (Fallout 4). They both seem to be less accurate stub versions of the proper page Reflex sight (Fallout 4). They don't represent distinct named objects in the game, just different appearances of the same object, depending on what gun it's attached to. Sometimes the Reflex sight looks like a circle with two nails in it, and sometimes it's all fancy with a dot in the middle, but it's the same sight with the same name, an issue which the proper page covers sufficiently. --Runamucker (talk) 12:34, December 2, 2018 (UTC)

Suspension of Patroller rights[]

Salutations, Disgusting;

As the name of the post suggests, I request a temporary suspension of my Patroller rights until I decide if I will carry on my functions as a Patroller for the Nukapedia Wiki. This Community has fell under toxicity and its users are not worried with developing a proper wiki, the administration have not yet decided how to carry punishments in a neutral stance and often bans under request of former Global Banned users, therefore I feel like I do not belong in a place where people being harrassed are banned for insulting other users back.

It's been years since that decision was made. I wouldn't be able to find it. What does Richie think? (maybe better discuss this by email). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:16, February 21, 2019 (UTC)

Patrolling rights[]

Salutations again, Dis.

After thinking trough it, I'd like to request my Patrollers rights back. I realized PT shouldn't be punished by the actions of my petty decisions on the heat of the moment, so if you feel like I can have them back, I'd just like you to know I apologize for my behavior at the time my decision of suspesion was made.

Interwiki[]

Month is a bit short I think, make it two months. They'd have to ask a bureaucrat for the rights. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:47, March 13, 2019 (UTC)

Just read you can become a patroller after only a month. Guess a month for an interwiki user is then fair too... Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:50, March 13, 2019 (UTC)

Unjust Discord Ban[]

Hey, Dist. Today at 8:13 PM GMT -4 Drags was banned for what I understand was a rule 9. To my understanding, a third party wasn't the one that requested the rule 9. After being warned for a final time (by being told to "stop it"), Drags dropped the subject he was asked to drop but was banned by August. After being confronted the banning party was unable to offer a just reason for his action. After that, I tried to reach a consensus by asking two administrators and one chat moderator if they had any problem with me unbanning Drags. They expressed that they didn't have a problem with me unbanning Drags. I proceeded to unban him. I ask you to analyze the question carefully and to consider making use of the administration policy.

It has been a while[]

Hello, It's DogeNumbers. Do you still remember me? Sorry for not having conversed with you in so long (must have been about a year and a half now), but I see that you made an edit yesterday and I just felt like contacting you after being away/mostly inactive for such a long period of time. Unfortunately I deleted my discord profile because I had decided on never using it again (considered doing the same with my wikia account; it is fortunate that I chose not to do so), however I regret not checking in with my old friends on this site.

Quite a bit has changed here since I left, and it also appears that I have missed your resignation, although I am glad that you have been able to move on.

My apologies if this message was unwarranted, and I hope that life is treating you well, especially in the midst of this pandemic. Lastly, if you're still communicating with Sakaratte or Scribbles (Cassie), please tell them that I said hi. Bye now. DogeNumbers (talk) 21:41, April 25, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind reply. I'm sorry to hear that coronavirus has spoiled your celebrations; I myself am in the second last year of highschool, although I definitely do not know anyone for partying with. To be honest, the pandemic has not really changed all that much for me, no drastic lifestyle alterations aside from the cancellation of school (I definitely appreciate not having to sit my exams this year. Is it the same in Norway?), and the closing down of the gym which I used to visit regularly. I probably will enter the discord again, think about it tomorrow. DogeNumbers (talk) 23:04, April 25, 2020 (UTC)
Hey, I feel the exact same way about not being able to lift weights. I have a pull up bar at home, which is decent but it still can't replicate the endorphins that are released from lifting heavy. Hopefully my calisthenic efforts are enough to preserve at least some of my gains. Anyway, I hope that you have passed your exams. In Scotland we do prelims (mock exams), the Scottish Qualifications Authority has decided to use them as evidence, as well as our predicted grades. I perform relatively well in school, so I was predicted to pass everything this year.
But, enough about that, I will register a new discord account so that I can speak with you again some time tomorrow. DogeNumbers (talk) 22:18, April 25, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, just wondering if you could help me![]

Gunner-corporal

Hey so here me out here entirely, I'm trying to make a little mod that just allows me to have a preset of a certain gunners face. I know how to do all the instructions to make the mod and everything but I'm wondering if you would be any help at all.

In the Gunners article you've uploaded a bunch of presets of the gunner with this face, did you use the creation kit to take screenshots of this particular character or was it done in-game? (If it was in the creation kit, the actor name in specific would be really handy!) Otherwise if not, thanks for your time nonetheless. LarrikinLancer (talk) 05:45, 16 July 2021 (UTC){

Bradberton FO76 ref[]

Thank you for your message. I am not quite sure what you mean. The reference is already cited at the end of the appearances section, the source being NCX13-GP01 Feedback Form. If this is not what you meant, please clarify so that I can help you fix the issue and get the article nice and tidy. -Pickman heart kdarrow take her for a spin! 02:49, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Friendly hello[]

Hey good to hear from you. Generally I've been ok, had to stop editing for a while due to RSI, but I've changed my hand posture and together with less editing I'm good to go again. Activity is satisfactory, we still can use some more Fallout 76 editors though. Hope you're doing ok in life too! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:42, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

RE: Nukapedia Discord[]

Sorry for the delay on the talk page message , I was in the kitchen only just had a chance to sit down and browse the logs to check for any past bans, just to see where it would be on the scale. But the whole "kill the president" thing was crossing over a line there. Tried to give you a chance to walk it back, but when you doubled down instead, something had to be done. It's just a three day ban, and you'll be welcome back after that. Just try to be careful there. The Dyre Wolf (talk) 02:44, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
