Sorry, I saw you message on Discord when I woke up this morning. I think the first question is: what is it you want to work on, what do you feel we are missing, or you feel you could improve?

Other than that, the thing we sorely lack is references. If you feel like digging through source documents to clarify information, or you see something that feels obscure and know the source for it, feel free to add them in. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 08:33, July 2, 2018 (UTC)

Edits[]

Hello there! I'd just like to thank you for your recent contributions. I'm impressed with the quality of your edits and you seem very open to learn from the regulars. A new contributor is always needed. Welcome to Nukapedia! DisgustingWastelander (talk) 19:53, July 19, 2018 (UTC)

Response[]

I'm out of town until tomorrow. I'll take a look at your contributions in detail and get back to you this week.  The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:35, August 1, 2018 (UTC)

Ok, I checked out your work here. You're doing good work, even though a lot of your edits are changing first person instances in articles. I saw enough of your other edits to see that you can work with adding template parameters to pages and have a reasonable understanding of the editing guidelines. What I didn't see is very much communication from you with other editors, even after the small number of reverts you've done. I would like to get a better feel for you communicate with others, since as a patroller, you'll find yourself having to explain your reverts with sometimes hostile editors quite often. I want to revisit this in a month, and in that time, I would like to see you leave talk page messages to all users who you revert, unless it's clear vandalism. Give me a chance to see how you interact with other editors. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 22:45, August 4, 2018 (UTC)

Honest Heart Bug[]

Hi, why did you undo my revision. The bug I added a few months ago was over on verifying. And so, I retested it, and tested it with friends. Because they don't have accounts, I had to verify it for them. What is the issue here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by YukiHakimoto (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Well, it was just some housekeeping with the renaming the file. It should have a proper one by preference, something starting with 125px-.. isn't that (though you probably didn't know that). I removed that part. Though I admit I could have left a reason in the comment. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:19, August 5, 2018 (UTC)

Hung vs. hanged[]

According to Merriam-Webster, and Oxford Dictionaries, and Grammarist, this edit where "hung" was changed to "hanged" was actually correct because "hung" is not the correct past participle of "to hang" if the word is used to mean "to kill by hanging".

Also, while I think it's good that you left a message on Pro Surgeon's page explaining why you undid his page, I think your message was unnecessarily confrontational (even if you didn't intend it that way). Currently, it looks like you're accusing him of intentionally performing redundant edits, but you should assume good faith and assume that they probably thought the edit was really necessary (which in this case it was, but I would have written this bit of text regardless). I would have changed the following in your message (note that some of these points are my personal opinion):

  1. Try to communicate that you understand that they probably had the best intentions; communicate that you are indeed assuming good faith. This way, the other person will be more likely to take your feedback into account.
  2. Do not explicitly put the blame on them, but just explain yourself. For example, instead of "Please refrain from doing redundant edits", write "I undid your recent edit where you changed 'hung' to 'hanged' because I thought it was redundant". This way, any discussion that may arise will be about the edit itself rather than about the user's behaviour.
  3. If you can, explain why the user should listen to you. If someone is edit warring you could write "Edit warring is not constructive and does not lead to a good solution. Instead, use a talk page." or something like that. If you explain your reasoning the user will have something to reply to, which in a certain sense will initiate a discussion.

Note that the fact that I'm writing such extensive feedback means that I'm not scolding you; I'm giving you feedback to improve yourself even further.

- FDekker talk 23:19, August 28, 2018 (UTC)

PS: Maybe this is a bit too much feedback considering that it wasn't that bad what you did, but when I started writing I couldn't stop myself and now I have a draft for a next blog post.

Weapons page oopsie[]

Hi, I, uh, just wanted to let you know I made an oopsie on the Fallout 4 weapons page, and now it kinda looks fucked up. I'm new here and just wanted to add shit that wasn't on here already to look back at for reference but I got kinda confused when editing it so I figured I'd just delete what I edited and close out and look at how to edit it, but I think I somehow deleted more than I edited because now the Blunt Weapons and Fist Weapons are like mashed together. Whooooops. I was just trying to add some of the creation club stuff but it came out weird so when I tried to delete it, that happened.

ANYWAY, what I'm trying to say is, sorry, I fucked up chief ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimbo619y2j (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Bureaucrat requirements[]

I can't really remember why not. I think the rules were initially set up in the time you could only get rollback, administrator rights and maybe chatmod rights. So all these other rights weren't there yet. At the time is was logical to apply being an admin. Still doesn't explain why it wasn't set as a rule though. Another discussion coming up I think... Nukapedia - Vault Merger: voting has reopened[]

Howdy,

As you may have already seen, voting for the proposed merger has been reopened. Voting was originally postponed so that users could better discuss the proposal, and after a lengthy conversation, that forum has since come to a close. For more information, please see the discussion itself. The post is a little lengthy, but if you are truly interested in making an informed decision, I would recommending read through it.

Because this discussion may or may not affect how you voted initially or your rationale at the time, please review your post so that it reflects your current beliefs accurately.

This is only a notice of open polls and is not soliciting a change of vote. This is a generic talk page message intended only as for any and all voters, so as to avoid any indication of bias towards a particular outcome. Voting is slated to end on 5:01 pm November 1, 2019 (UTC).

The formal vote can be found here.

Thanks,

Synth Article Dispute[]

Hello, I'm new to thiswiki, so forgive me if I'm not bringing you this message in the entirely correct manner. According to the editing guidelines, if there is a dispute between editors, I am supposed to seek an "impartial" third party rather than engage in an edit war. In the Synth and Gen 3 Synth article, it says Generation 3 Synths are "entirely biological." Originally I was going to add a "dubious (discuss)" tag to this, pointing to why I was uncomfortable with this designation in the talk page, but apparently those are not universal constants in wiki world, and don't exist here. So I changed it to "essentially biological" to be more value neutral. The idea that Gen 3 Synths are truly biological is at best subjective. They are made in Robotics rather than Bio-science, and referred to as machines in multiple instances (such as when Maxson orders you to kill Danse, or when SS tells synth Shaun "You're not Shaun...you're a robot, made to think you're real."). I think it's sledge-hammer-to-the-crotch obvious that Bethesda was trying to make the point that Institute technology had advanced so far, the lines between biology and technology were blurring. Yes, Shaun's DNA was used as a template for the Gen 3 synths, but that does not make them biological any more than the fact that full blown humans were used as a template for Gen 1 and Gen 2 makes them biological. I am not trying to argue whether synths are truly biological or not, only that this is supposed to be at least subjective in Fallout 4 canon. Now I'm not niave, I know that in most online communities seniority matters more than correctness, and challenging the opinion of someone with an edit count 100X higher than mine may be futile. But if someone would like to consider this issue impartially I would appreciate it. --De2nis (talk) 18:18, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Bert Riggs[]

I'm sorry to have to do this, but consider this an official warning for your part in the farce that I witnessed on the Bert Riggs article. On-top of seeing Ant edit-warring, in which he received a 3-day block, I also unfortunately witnessed multiple special-rights holders continuing the edit-warring further, rather than starting a dialogue and coming to a proper consensus before settling a status quo.

Edit-warring is something I've agreed to start cracking down on heavily, and in the future, I recommend getting an administrator involved as a mediator, to help figure out a solution before moving forward.

Thank you for your time, and I'll be looking forward to seeing you around the wiki. 寧靜 Fox 07:17, February 15, 2020 (UTC)

You took (be it a small) part in the change from "formerly" to "defunct" going back and forth a few times on Bert Riggs. That must have been the reason Leon included you in the edit war as he saw it. Bit too soon to leave a notice going your direction I believe. I'll leave a notice on Leon's page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:05, February 17, 2020 (UTC)

Czech flag[]

We probably don't have it. Just use one you can find on the internet, format similar to the other flags (see Template:Wikiportal/Footer, if you have it, ask me to put it there, needs admin rights). Though I can't seem to locate the Czech Fallout wiki. Cz right? That one redirects back to us. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:40, March 25, 2020 (UTC)

Very Inexperienced at using talk pages, sorry if there's any errors.[]

Before I saw your warning I reversed another edit (sorry, sorry)... So do I talk to both of them or... I'm not sure what to do.

I sure as heck didn't set out to make people angry or start fights. I've already started a talk with the first guy. I just, would really like to get this all cleared up.

I wasn't sure how to "chat" on Fandom until about twenty minutes ago and mod warnings kind of make me panic. So sorry if I sound a little hyped up. :| HannaVictoria

Call to Action[]

There have been quite a few sweeping changes to the wiki lately, and now that the Unified Community Platform has come to fruition here, it's more important than ever for our leadership to get together and inspire innovative changes for the next generation of wiki editors/readers.

As someone who is somewhat inactive myself, I understand how life gets in the way, and I'll fully understand if many of you are unable to commit, but I'd still like to try my best to appeal to you all in getting involved in a few of our currently active projects; especially so since rights-users participating in our discussions/votes are at an all-time low, and many internal decisions are having to be made between a select few users, which is bad for building consensus on important matters.

As such, I would like to ask for you all to look into two of our most important projects right now, as it would mean a lot to me and the wiki if as many people as possible got directly involved in helping shape our future:

  1. The Vault Academy is a program for the training and acclimation of new and even veteran users, training them on how to get involved in the various facets of the wiki, as well as helping them build bonds with their fellow users. The program has kicked off in a big way, and we are in desperate need of more rights-users to sign on as mentors, as we're having to share multiple mentees between each mentor. If you're looking to leave your mark on the wiki, then signing onto TVA program will be your way of doing so.
  2. As a minor update, we now have a new plagiarism point of contact. Should you suspect plagiarized content is at play, please get into point with the user FDekker who will be the initial handler of all such cases going forward.
  3. We have an upcoming meeting of the minds coming up on the 20th of this month, and we need people to come forth and pitch their ideas for adapting to the recent UCP changes, and to possibly adopt some of the ideas that our new datamining friends have been pitching to us.

Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope to hear back from you all! Even if it is just some of you dropping by to check the place out and say a quick hello. 寧靜 Fox 14:10, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
