The hunting rifle is a non-automatic rifle in Fallout 76.

Characteristics[]

The hunting rifle is a high powered, bolt action rifle with a wooden stock. It can be used as a basic long range weapon until at least level 30. Further modifications can be unlocked for this weapon by scrapping unused weapons. The only drawback for the hunting rifle is the slow rate of fire and that cycling the bolt slows down the player character's movement after every shot.

Variants[]

  • Brotherhood recon rifle - Craftable variant with pre-configured modifications that can be obtained from a terminal just outside of Fort Defiance. Though unique in name, this variant is otherwise identical to the standard hunting rifle.

  • Cycling the bolt works faster in first person, resulting in a fire rate difference.
  • Legendary Fast Fire rate only affects first person animations.
  • Receivers that increase fire rate only affect first person animations.
  • The .50 caliber rechamber mods alter the rifle's gunshot sound effects.
  • After applying a .50 caliber receiver mod, the rifle's magazine still visually resembles one used by the .308 version.
  • When modified with an aligned or true, the rifle's buttstock and grip slightly resembles that of the sniper rifle from Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas.
