The plasma gun is a ranged weapon in Fallout 76.

Characteristics[]

The plasma gun is an energy weapon that shoots plasma bolts, which travel more slowly than beams emitted from laser weapons. Similarly to pipe weapons, the player can only craft a pistol version of the plasma gun. Changing the grip to a stock will reclass the weapon type and rename it to plasma rifle. Enemies killed with the plasma gun can sometimes be liquified into green plasma goo.

  • The plasma gun is affected by the Grounded mutation.
  • Slain enemies may turn to goo piles. Enemies finished by a critical hit will always turn into goo.
  • Anything killed by plasma weapons has a chance to drop nuclear material on death. This chance increases if the target has been melted to goo.
  • The plasma gun cannot spawn with the Double or Explosive legendary effects.
  • If the player idles with the plasma gun while it is drawn in first person view, an animation may play in which the weapon's plasma cartridge pops out with the player hitting it back into place.
  • The plasma gun's calibrated beta wave tuner is an incorrectly named severe beta wave tuner.
