Cranberry Island is an unmarked location near the Island in 2287.

Background[]

Before the Great War, Cranberry Island was inhabited by the Gibbons family, operating a cranberry farm. The farm and surrounding bog were able to survive the atomic war, and the family attempted to find sanctuary in a small air raid bunker under the bog. The family members who made it into the bunker were turned into feral ghouls, while all supplies remained in a shed on another part of the island. Notes and a selection of journals written by Eliza scattered around the island show that the family was supposed to move the supplies into the bunker, but this apparently did not happen.

Layout[]

Activating all three of the power generators on the island yields access to the bunker at Cranberry Island Bog. In the bunker, the key to the Cranberry Island supply shed can be found. The shed contains a substantial amount of crafting materials.

Notable loot[]

Appearances[]

Cranberry Island appears only in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.

Behind the scenes[]

  • In real life, the Cranberry Isles consist of five islands to the southeast of Mount Desert Island. The real-life Great Cranberry Island is called Cranberry Island in Fallout 4, while Little Cranberry Island is called Huntress Island in-game. Sutton Island and Bear Island appear in-game, as in real life, but are unnamed, while Baker Island does not exist in-game. In real life, Baker Island lies to the east of Great Cranberry Island and to the southeast of Little Cranberry Island.
  • The story of Cranberry Island and the Gibbons family was designed by world artist Nadia Haschart. It was an unusual case of the art department venturing into direct narrative design, as Haschart pitched the idea to lead designer William Shen and lead level designer Daryl Brigner, who gave it the green light. Haschart also designed the unique drawings on the notes found in this location.[Non-game 1]
