Gulpers are creatures in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.

Characteristics[]

Biology[]

Gulpers are mutated salamanders that roam the Island. They continue to grow throughout their lives, and can reach sizes several times larger than a man.[1][2] Gulpers prefer to live in areas with fresh water.[3]

Gameplay attributes[]

Having movement patterns similar to deathclaws, when engaged in combat, they will rush towards the player character, trying to dodge bullets if shot, and will attack with their paws and large mouth, or even do a slide attack where they hit the player character with their snout. Just like deathclaws, they can toss cars, though the gulper tosses them with their head or tail rather than their hand. Gulpers can also be seen hanging upside down on tree branches with their tails, dropping down to ambush the player character when they come near. The Wasteland Whisperer perk can be used to pacify them. Gulpers are also able to slowly regenerate health.

When first arriving at Far Harbor, the player character must help the harbormen defend against a horde of gulpers, radroaches and anglers. They also will battle nearby mirelurks.

Gulpers drop gulper innards upon death, and typically have many randomized junk items within their inventories.

Variants[]

Young gulper[]

FO4FH Young gulper

These gulpers have a lighter coloration, less Damage Resistance, less health and less attack power than their elders. Additionally, their light coloration makes young gulpers much easier to spot than older variants, as it usually clashes with their surroundings.

Identically to the young gulper, the gulper newt is quite weak and sport the same light coloration. Gulper newts exist as a legendary variant of young gulpers.

Gulper[]

Gulper

The base variant of the gulper. Being an adult, it has a darker coloration and greater size than younger variants of the species, and is much more fast and powerful. Additionally, it has a much larger health pool than its younger brethren, and is much better camouflaged, making it significantly better at ambushing the player from the trees.

Glowing gulper[]

Glowing gulper

More powerful than a base gulper, this variant has absorbed massive amounts of radiation, causing it to glow green and allowing it to deal radiation damage to nearby foes.

Gulper devourer[]

FO4FH Gulper devourer

The strongest variant of gulper. Gulper devourers are enormous creatures, roughly on par with deathclaws in terms of size. Being highly aggressive, they will often charge at the player character, dealing knockback on impact before following up with melee attacks. While posing a considerable threat, they do have a weakness: their soft underbellies, another similarity to the deathclaw.

Gulper devourers level with the player character, and are therefore immune to the Wasteland Whisperer perk.
