Eliza Gibbons was the youngest member of the Gibbons family living on Cranberry Island.[1]
Background[]
Eliza Gibbons lived with her family on their farm. She was the author of Eliza journals, Eliza family drawing and Eliza map of home.
After her grandmother died, she and the rest of her family noticed a large decline in her grandfather's mental health.[2] This included being woken up by her grandfather yelling in his sleep,[3] as well as him accusing first her brother Nathaniel of sabotaging the farm's machinery and then blaming the government.[2]
She sometimes noticed her brother Nathaniel sneaking off towards the farm's output pipes, but he would catch her watching him so he would get angry and bully her.[4] Later, when her grandfather was reminded that he and Frederick went in to get his will finalized and the farm insured, Eliza asked Nathaniel what it meant to be "insured." He told her to not worry about it, but just to be excited about the will. Eliza, however, still didn't understand.[5]
She went at a Halloween party at Hayley's house in Bar Harbor on the day before the Great War. She was excited for the party especially since "everyone was going to be there" including June, Elli, Emmi, Jade, and possibly Gregory. Originally, she was supposed to be brought to the party by Nathaniel, but since he was missing (not unusual for him), she believed her mother Victoria was going to bring her there.[6]
