No problem. I only put it there in alphabetical order. Forgot about the lower case, I just copied it exactly from the forum. I'll change it in a bit, when I've got some more time to do it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 16:55, March 24, 2013 (UTC)
It did not like the renaming. That category should have changed with the changes to the DBtop template. Let me figure out why it lost the category before we make any more changes. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 23:19, March 24, 2013 (UTC)
Alright. I think it's sorted out. Looks like the category was sticking around because the existing forum topics needed to be purged. I think I got most of them, but the ones I missed will get purged when Wikia purges their servers. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 03:05, March 25, 2013 (UTC)

Patroller Request[]

Hey J, I was wondering if I can run for Patroller. I have done a fair share of edits (698 to date) and have been active on this wiki for well over 3 months. I do not think that my 10 day leave (which was for personal reasons) should not account into this as it really was not Inactivity. If you have any concerns please let me know and work them out. Thanks!

Also, I must point out now that I have noticed, I have never once been banned or even warned at that. Never even been close to it either. I just thought this would help a little more. Have a nice day/night wherever you are.

I don't see much of any use of that template, except for pages that have a lot of notable loot (more than 5, that is). Having a bulleted style makes it simple. Energy X Signature0 21:42, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Forum thread[]

The earliest I will move it to a vote will be Friday. I agree there needs to be some more community consensus before a vote. I have most of it written out already, though, and right now I have it boiled down to 3 questions:

  • Should we remove moderator requests, while maintaining moderator as a strict combination of Patroller and Chat Moderator?
  • Should we increase the mainspace edit requirement for Patroller to 500 (from 250)?
  • Should we increase the mainspace edit requirement for Chat Moderator to 100 (from 50)?

Again, I will wait for more consensus. Thanks for the input. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 19:36, April 1, 2013 (UTC)

Hello. Me and Chad worked out the final details on that character creation preset proposal I had, and I just wanted to know if you had any opinions on the final plan before I put it on the project page. We're going to create a new page titled FO3/FNV character presets or something similar, to help keep the lag that will be induced by the sheer volume of pictures at a minimum. Chad will be constructing slideshows for the pics, while I go to the projects to find picture takers. To help reduce the overwhelming number of pictures without sacrificing the page's effectiveness, we'll be conducting as per my last post in the forum discussion. Drop by with any questions. Hey Js. I have put together a rough proposal for the changes discussed in the forum. You can have a look at them here. Let me know if you have any suggestions. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 21:56, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

I agree with your changes on the first two proposals, the wording is much better. For proposals 3 and 4, I intentionally left out the cooling off period because that part is contingent on the passing of the first proposal. If we keep the moderator position, then we won't need a 'cooling off' for mod requests. I was considering them more separate rather than contingent. Let me know what you think. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 06:49, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
I think it's best to remove them. Admin requirement to 1250 seems reasonable. Even 1500 would be fine I think, any potential admins I can think of off the top of my head are pretty close if not exceeding that total anyways. Let me know what you guys are thinking or if you need any input. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 19:32, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

A) I have no problem with raising the admin edit count. I'm one of those who uses a higher personal count anyways. I'd be fine with 1250-1500.
B)I'll leave a message on Hal's and Kristoffer's talk page and see if they respond.
C)I agree about removing rights after a year.
D)As far as Ghost, same thing. We wait until August and try to get in touch with him.

Consistency[]

I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe you have the wrong man? ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:08, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you over that. Talking in the second-person is inappropriate over a wiki, and it's an issue that I have been actively rectifying during all of my edits. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:14, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
What is policy? And I can agree that it gets repetitive to use 'Courier' too many times so close to each other. (Has the same effect as over-linking.) However, the way to deal with this isn't reverting back to improper second-person conformity. The proper route would be just to re-write the sentences where 'Courier' doesn't have to be presented as often. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:27, April 5, 2013 (UTC)
No offense, but that needs to be changed. It might do a good job at keeping the point-of-view gender-neutral, but it is highly unprofessional at the same time. Bleh, I have work starting up again tomorrow. I'll try and write out a discussion sometime next week. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 00:37, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

Small discrepancy[]

Hey J! I noticed the other day that you and Gunny seemed to agree on a 12-month rights removal period, instead of the current 9 months agreed upon by community vote. In that case, perhaps it would be best to change the FW:ADMIN to reflect that, in order to avoid a discrepancy between policy and practice. I myself am perfectly fine with such a change as 9 months and 12 months is not that different, and inactive users would be unlikely to come back at all anyway. --Skire (talk) 22:40, April 5, 2013 (UTC)

The problem I have with the old PV13 logo is it seems to just be a placeholder created by someone here (or at the Vault), with no official links. Bug Section Category[]

Well the Verify and Platforms needed template kind of perform that function as of right now, though I could see a hidden Bug section incomplete. The main reason we need a bug section complete category is for the bug charts, so that we regularly maintain them. ---bleep196- (talk) 21:51, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

I'm unfamiliar with how to make a category hidden, how does one do this? ---bleep196- (talk) 22:21, April 7, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure it's that simple, is it possible to program a bot to identify that specific of parameters? ---bleep196- (talk) 00:54, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
The difficulty there is that the pages aren't static. Bugs get added and removed all the time. Also, manually adding in parts to the charts is not an easy task, the charts are large, and the load times long for each page. It's one of the reasons that I had to get Theo to construct the charts in the first place, is because there is just to much content there to sort through manually. ---bleep196- (talk) 01:19, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
Alright. ---bleep196- (talk) 01:27, April 8, 2013 (UTC)
Well the main function the bot will be serving is to update the charts, this doesn't have to be a weekly thing, a monthly run is probably the best course of action due to sheer size of the charts themselves, and the content they hold. ---bleep196- (talk) 01:30, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Notices tab[]

Js, I'm not sure if you might remember this or not, but before Gav left, we were working on some javascript to add a "Notices" tab to user pages. Here's what it was all about:

  • It would be placed next to "contributions" on each user's page that only admins, chat mods and patrollers would see.
  • It would link to a special page where official warnings and notices were to be placed.
  • It would only be editable by admins, chat mods and patrollers.
  • It was intended to replace the "No deleting talk page messages rule" by having a place where all official notifications could be permanently stored in an easy to find place.

Upsides:

  • All official notices will be on one page, easy to find.
  • No need for the controversial "No deleting talk page messages" rule.
  • It's hidden and only accessible to admins, chat mods and patrollers.

Downsides:

  • Anyone can see the edits in RC, and if you type in the url, you can read the notices. They won't be able to edit it, but they will be able to read it.
  • It would require the admin, chat mod or patroller to leave a message on the user's talk page so the user can get the alert and read the message, and then they would have to copy the same message to the notices page for permanent storage.

I've tested the script and it's ready to test on a wider basis. You can do this by copying the script into your own common.js, if you'd like. I would like to proceed with testing this along these lines:

  1. Have you and Clyde, and any admins who are interested in looking at it test it in their own .js.
  2. Move it into the site .js for a site-wide test.
  3. Bring up discussion after testing is complete to see if the community wants to revoke the talk page rule and move to this method.

Let me know when/if you want to move forward with this. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:42, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Image toggler[]

I've run into some problems with the image toggler template. See [[User:The_Gunny/sandbox]]. It's resizing the images in the infobox and when two infoboxes are on the same page, it's mashing up the images. I'll look at this more tomorrow, but I don't think the template is ready for use. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:53, April 10, 2013 (UTC)

Just the other day I made a list of all the templates that we will need to make or adjust for FO4. I was thinking the same thing about the forums. I'll start working on them tonight and move them into the forum space when done. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:05, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I had the forums made in my sandboxes ready to put them up and Jasper decided to make them. I added all the extra templates needed and changed the site navigation menu. We've got too many forums to list with the limit of 10 lines. Which ones do you think we should leave off?

Bug verification project[]

I was poking around with the Bug verification project template today, and I realized that instead of a Bugs section complete category we can just attach a category to the Bug Verification Project template, and make it hidden. This will prevent the logs from being flooded with edits. It will still be a huge category, but it will be more useful than just a completed page cause it will mark all pages with bugs. Let me know what you think. I will keep the edit in a Sandbox. ---bleep196- (talk) 21:38, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

After some testing I found that it will seamlessly put the category in without anyone having to edit it. It shouldn't lag down the pages, and it won't be visible to anyone but Admins. ---bleep196- (talk) 17:36, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Getting a head start on FO4 content[]

I've been going through all of the templates we'll need to either create or modify for FO4. There's a list of 74 we'll need to do [[User:The Gunny/sandbox4|here]]. There may be more that I find. I plan on getting a head start on all these by creating as many as I can in my user space so all we'll have to do is make final modifications when we know more specifics about the game and then move them from my user space to the template space. One of the things that would make this easier for me would be if I could go ahead and create all the categories the templates link to now. Do you think that's gonna cause any problems? I can work around it, but it will make moving the templates to the template space much easier if I can go ahead and create the categories. Let me know. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:35, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah. It's gonna create quite a few categories, but I don't see any real reason why not to get started on this. We know a game will be announced at some point soon. Pete Hines just had an interview yesterday saying that this year BSW will be much busier as a publisher than last. I'm taking that to mean they do plan on announcing this year at some point. And I've decided to just go ahead and make the templates in the template space. At least the ones I know won't take too many changes when we have more details. They can sit unused until we need them and can be renamed if needed when we cross that bridge. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 14:51, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Ref IDs[]

Hey Jspoel, thanks for finding the ref ID for Anne. I've got a few questions for you though. First Norton and Gabban are missing their Ref IDs and I was wondering if you could find 'em. Then there's just a ref ID/base ID question I have regarding a couple of characters. on the FNV Char list Yes Man has two different base IDs and one ref ID I was wondering if there was a second one. I have the same question about Elizabeth Kieran who also has two different Base IDs, one for when she's alive and one for when she's dead and she also only has one ref ID which specifies "alive" does she have a second one, if so what is it? Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge on these things but I lack the GECK and so my ability to check for these things basically involves checking to see if it's posted elsewhere. Thanks! Inactive bots[]

J, I think we need to close a small security hole with a few inactive bots. Since bot flagged accounts only show up on RC log when you select show bots, I think it's best we do the following:

  1. Remove the bot flag from inactive bot accounts so edits made on these accounts will show in the normal RC log.
  2. Go through a similar process to the inactive extra rights user process with these bot accounts and if no response, go ahead and block the bot account, with a note on the handler's talk page for them to contact us for the bot to be unblocked and the bot flag replaced if/when they come back to edit.

The accounts this would apply to:

Bot Handler
User:Agricola User:Winterheart
User:AusirBot User:Ausir
User:Charitwo User:Charitwo
User:H4rkn355 User:Ph03n1x
User:HeliumBot User:Odie5533
User:KAGBot User:KristofferAG

I also suggest removing the bot flag from TheodoricoBot, but not block it until he's 9 months inactive, and just removing the bot flag from AusirBot. And I don't know why, but Charitwo has been globally blocked by wiki. I'm gonna remove the bot flag now on those accounts, and wait to hear your input on blocking the bot accounts.  The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:00, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Foreign Language Meanings[]

Hey J, it has come to my attention that a lot of words or names are in Spanish in Fallout and on the pages for them we are citing what they mean in the "Behind the Scenes". (Such as Buena Vista meaning "Good View" etc.) This may just be personal opinion but I don't think they should be there. I mean, we don't know if the makers of these characters, objects, and places meant for them to mean this in-game. I would like you to let me know what you think before I do anything with these meanings. Thanks. "'The One, The Only, The Gunslinger!" Monster of the East, huh? Okay, I agree on the examples you gave. I mean like Palabras meaning soon or what not. I think these were just common hispanic/spanish names given for in-game characters. I am going to work to clean these up if you don't mind. By the way, I am not targeting Ayalus for his work, just that his edits are not concrete with what we know. fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 14:28, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

I would like to add the following:

"As of April 15, 2013 Bethesda Game Studios made the following announcement on their blog regarding moving on from Skyrim development and support:

"For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs. Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet."

On April 16th, 2013, Bethesda Softworks posted a cryptic video on their twitter feed featuring classical music and barbed wire. This led many to speculate that Fallout 4 was the next major project for Bethesda Game Studios because Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios had worked together as publisher and developer for Fallout 3 respectively. Pursuant to those rumors Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks VP of PR and Marketing, tweeted "guess again."

On April 19th, 2013 Bethesda Softworks announced that the video was a teaser for the Evil Within. This has subsequently led to the misconception that Fallout 4 is not in the works. While Bethesda Softworks is working on the evil within, Bethesda Game Studios is not. According to the Bethesda Blog post of April 19th, 2013 Tango Gameworks is the developer, not Bethesda Game Studios.

This means that Bethesda Game Studios has moved its full attention on to another project, but that project is not The Evil Within. Further, since their founding in 2001 Bethesda Game Studios has only worked on the Elder Scrolls series, IHRA Professional Drag Racing and Fallout 3 it stands to reason that it is highly likely that Bethesda Game Studios has moved its full attention to Fallout 4. Unless of course they are attempting to revive IHRA Professional Drag Racing."

So, what do you think? I have the references prepared for the article. I realize that my post does not definitively nail down the release date, but neither do any of the other posts in that section. I believe that my post would provide the most up-to-date and investigative report on the standing of Fallout 4 and would make an excellent addition to the Fallout 4 page. Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

Hmm, Its a bit longwinded, and still a bit speculative

I would instead suggest

On April 15 Bethesda Game Studios announced on bethblog (Link Bethblog post) that they had completed all new content for Skyrim and were moving the studio's attention to an as yet unknown title that had previously been in pre-production.
Although Bethesda Softworks did announce "The Evil Within" during the same week, this is being developed by another studio and will have no direct impact on whatever project Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on.

(Optional, not sure about this bit)

This could suggest Fallout 4 is in development; alternatively it could be some other project completely.

Hope this helps. Agent c (talk) 18:05, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Agent c, Jspoelstra,

I agree that my proposed add-on is long-winded and that the conclusion reaches too far. The optional conclusion proposed by Agent c is definitely better. However, might I rebut and say that the evidence, dates, and announcements that I cite to in my proposed post make for a compelling argument. While Agent c's proposed alteration of the conclusion appropriately tempers that argument, I think providing wiki users with the greatest amount of information will allow them to make conclusions of their own while not undermining the credibility of the site.

However, I do agree that there must be ways to shorten the proposed post. If I could perhaps get some guidance on how long you would prefer the post to be, perhaps I could find a way to meet that standard while still providing maximum information. Your thoughts?

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 18:15, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Providing a lot of information can be great... But you risk both information overload, and burying the actual information people want.

An FAQ section is supposed to have short answers that get to the core bit of truth, with links to more information if people actually want it. If people want more information on the teaser/Announcement, then we can link to that directly, rather than spend 2 paragraphs on a completely different game.

You also have to bear in mind that this may not be the only Bethesda announcement between now and F4. Do we give each other game equal time, burying the core information further (the core information being "We know they're working on something, but we don't know what"). Agent c (talk) 18:39, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Agent c,

I definitely see your point. I just re-read my proposed post with what you said in mind. While I do feel that the way I presented the information in the original proposed post tells the complete story, you are right - it buries the core point. This is a wiki, not a blog, and I appreciate that you recognize the value in my post enough to extract the information most pertinent to this wiki. Let me see if I can come up with a final draft and run it past both of you again.

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 19:03, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Ok guys, I think I've got it:

On April 15 Bethesda Game studios announced on bethblog (Link Bethblog post) the completion of their work on Skyrim and that the studio would be focusing its attention on an as yet undisclosed title that had previously been in pre-production.

Some speculated that a video link posted April 16 on Bethesda Softworks twitter page (Link Bethesda Softworks Twitter Page) was a teaser for Fallout 4, but that turned out to be for The Evil Within. However, The Evil Within is being developed by Tango Game Studios. This leaves open the possibility that Bethesda Game Studios current project requiring their “full attention” could be Fallout 4; alternatively it could be some other project completely.

Your thoughts?

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 19:43, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

I don't know... I'm a strong believer that any speculation is bad speculation. It's good to list the facts while allowing the readers to draw their own conclusions, but we need to make sure that what we list here is, in-fact, a definitive Fallout tease from Bethesda or its parent company. I think we're jumping the gun a bit, as Bethesda has been branching out quite a bit lately with their titles, and with Fallout 4 still waiting for the next-gen consoles. (This has been confirmed.) ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 19:48, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Dear GarouxBloodline,

What are your thoughts on some of the other versions of the proposed post?

Also, I would suggest that Bethesda is not trying to tease about Fallout 4. I would suggest that they are trying to keep it very quiet, but that the evidence points towards Fallout 4 being in production. I don't think the proposed post, as it currently stands, goes any further in suggesting a tease than any of the other posts on the Fallout 4 Page.

Additionally, while Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax have been branching out, Bethesda Game studios has not been branching out so much. I do agree that Fallout 4 will come out on the next gen console and have seen the confirmations for that, but the PS4 and Xbox720 are reportedly going to be available either late 2013 or early 2014. So I don't see how the next gen console release would interfere with developing and releasing Fallout 4 to coincide with the release of the next gen consoles. For example Bungie is developing Destiny at this time for Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Xbox 360 suggesting that the time frame for developing a game currently for release on the future next gen consoles works just fine.

Your thoughts?

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 20:09, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Also, just want to clear this up. I would like to add my post to the Fallout 4 page, not the Fallout 4 FAQ page. Does that change any of your perspectives?

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 20:58, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Except to double down on content regarding a non-fallout game not belonging there... not really. Agent c (talk) 21:04, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

You're right, but then the other posts on that page mention Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Elder Scrolls: Online and Dishonored.

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 21:16, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Jspoelstra, Agent c, GarouxBloodline,

I know I've been talking your ears off about this, but I think I should point out that the most recent version of my proposed post fits in very well with the other posts in the Release Date section of the Fallout 4 page. For example:

"In August 2010, Todd Howard revealed in an interview with Eurogamer that Bethesda was working on two projects; one had been in development for 2 years (beginning after Fallout 3 was released), and the other was still in pre-production.[4] It's now known that the title farther along in development was The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. There is still no confirmation on what the second game is. In April/May 2012, it was revealed that Bethesda is committed to releasing Dishonored in 2012[5], and The Elder Scrolls: Online in 2013[6]. Although these titles are being made by different studios (Dishonored by Arkane Studios and The Elder Scrolls: Online by Zenimax Online) and thus would not affect the development of Fallout 4 completely, this could still be an indication of a longer wait for Fallout 4 to allow Bethesda to better allocate marketing and QA resources, and not have its own titles directly compete with each other."

My proposed post speculates no more than these two posts do. My post includes concrete dates, solid sources and reasoned argument for why the evidence points towards the development of Fallout 4. Also, just like my proposed post, these two posts also include mention of non-fallout games while not precluding the possibility that a new i.p. is being developed.

More importantly, my proposed post brings to light recent information and developments that are pertinent to the possible development of the Fallout series' next title just like the above posts do. For that reason, I again petition for the opportunity to add my post to the page. Thank you.

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 13:58, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

I think it goes slightly beyond it, but I agree the 2012 Dishonured bit and TES bit should go. Agent c (talk) 14:43, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Agent c,

I would like to disagree with you on removing information on Dishonored or TES. Game development doesn't happen in a vacuum. Particularly when the games are being developed or published by related houses.

The Fallout 3 announcement clearly states that the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 were linked:

"Fallout is one the great RPG franchises. Millions of Fallout games have been sold worldwide, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of a Fallout 3 title. Bethesda’s proven expertise in this genre, building on our experience and the tremendous success we have enjoyed with our cutting-edge Elder Scrolls® series, will enable us to create the next chapter of Fallout that is worthy of the franchise . . . Fallout 3 will be developed by Bethesda along with the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls, both under the direction of Todd Howard, executive producer of The Elder Scrolls."

In other words, Zenimax, Bethesda Softworks, and Bethesda Gamestudios are highly invested in coordinating the release of their titles to maximize profits and minimize cross-title competition. Therefore, information that discusses their collective projects is highly probative when predicting when a specific project is under development.

For that reason, I don't think that taking down the information about the other non-fallout games would make the post better. Similarly, I don't think that my reference to Tango's The Evil Within diminishes the value of the post. Rather, it strengthens the value.

Regards,

fakaiyun--Fakaiyun (talk) 15:28, April 24, 2013 (UTC);

Indeed, they don't exist in a vauum, however theat section of the article is looking at things from a 2012 perspective and mentioning things that will discourage a 2012 release date. It is no longer 2012, Dishonoured is released and TES:O will be shortly. That information is no longer relevant.

People are looking for a specific answer. Burying that answer in a load of waffle in an attempt to be "helpful" is counter-productive. Agent c (talk) 15:45, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

Dear Agent c, Jspoelstra,

Information builds on itself, the new on the old. And if we were to hold all of the Fallout 4 and Fallout 4 FAQ posts to the impossibly high standard proposed then none of those posts would be relevant based on inclusion of non-fallout information or because they'd be too speculative.

Besides, if you believed that Dishonoured and TES:O were relevant in 2012, then why not the information I've provided for 2013? The structure and conclusion of my proposed edit as it now stands is virtually identical to that 2012 post. Therefore, because my post is equally relevant now as that post was in 2012, then there should be no bar to it.

This "specific answer" is nowhere on the Fallout 4 or Fallout 4 FAQ pages, and yet people read them. The "specific answer" will come when Bethesda officially announces the release date. Until then, we have posts that present the most up-to-date and relevant information from start to finish.

For that reason, I don't see why my post would be a problem. And again, I petition to be allowed to make the edit.

Regards,

fakaiyun--35.10.214.118 18:53, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

FW[]

Hey J. I had the idea of changing the VAs before but never got to it. If you need my help I can go and update all of them. --Skire (talk) 22:10, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Do you know what FW:URR stands for? It seems a little unusual to me and perhaps we should change it? --Skire (talk) 22:25, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I see. FW:AR works but maybe FW:URR (user rights request), after the section title? Please let me know. --Skire (talk) 22:37, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, the updating is done. There may still be quite a few out there, but I think we can nail 'em in time. I've been working a little bit with AutoWikiBrowser and was wondering if I could set up a bot account? I know Toci also uses AWB but he's been rather busy as of late and I believe I could be of assistance. --Skire (talk) 23:17, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Cannibal Johnson Anon[]

Just wondering who I should inform, but this anon has changed the Karma value for Cannibal Johnson twice since their week-long ban on December 4th for the same thing. Great Mara (talk) 16:07, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Bot[]

Thanks J. The bot account is User:Skire bot. --Skire (talk) 19:37, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I just read it on the news. Big celebrations it seems. I heard Queen Beatrix was quite popular with the people! --Skire (talk) 19:49, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Shortcuts[]

Thanks. That's not really the way they're supposed to be done, but something odd is going on with the Fallout Wiki/The Vault namespaces. Must have something to do with the name change and how Wikia did it. The only way I was able to get them to work was the way you guys did them, so good is good. I'm gonna add the shortcuts category to the pages, too. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:41, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Auto refresh[]

Thanks! I copied the .js file over as the ww2 wiki didn't have on and now my tables collapse and everything! Sweet thanks.--Kingclyde (talk) 22:36, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Mbox templates[]

Yeah, I'll take a look. At worst we can probably substitute the template onto the doc page and then manually remover the categories it adds. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:29, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

I substituted and removed the categories. Not perfect, as any changes to the template won't show unless we re-substitute the template on the doc page again, but since the cat is added by the Mbox management template, I could think of no other way. Those links to the old Fallout wiki redirects you restored I had hoped would go away. I scoured over those article creation pages to find out where those links were coming from and could not find them. Something to do with the change from "The Vault" namespace to "Fallout Wiki" namespace, I think. We'll either have to live with the red links or with those two defunct redirects. No bigger either way for me, but I know how much you hate those red links. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:05, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

My bad[]

I undid then redid. could have sworn to God that I had attributed.--Ant2242 (talk) 19:48, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Red Lucy[]

The section had just stricken me as rather subjective and un-substantiated, but from a contributor with such a reputation I cannot dispute. I'll remove the tag. --Skire (talk) 20:03, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Bug Project Templates[]

That is the next step that I will take, I am in the middle of finals and as soon as they are over I am going to finish clearing out/updating the bug charts. Once that is done I will start taking the Bug project template off completed pages...the only issue with that is that people are constantly adding bugs. As soon as we take the template down off some of the completed pages we won't be able to monitor when new bugs are put in, barring the Verify and Platforms needed categories, most anons and users do not attach either template to a page when they insert bugs, which makes it difficult to know when the bugs are placed in. ---bleep196- (talk) 21:25, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Navboxes[]

Yeah I know right! I'm going to go through the other navboxes as well. I'm sure the other ones are just as neglected. Look at all the ones from FO3 from the quests. That's where I originally started at.--Kingclyde (talk) 21:57, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Work[]

Hi J! By helping you guys out with the shortcuts I've increased my familiarity with the AWB software. So I can try to go through and remove all the bug project tags off "completed" pages. They are no longer necessary as of this point. I think if there is a list of these pages somewhere and they are converted into a text file the page list can be valid for the bot to run through. --Skire (talk) 18:49, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I've been talking with Bleep as to how to go from here and it seems he has a pretty good plan. In the meanwhile, I'm free to assist you with any tasks you have. --Skire (talk) 22:33, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

GECK Checks, anons, and karma, Oh my![]

Hey Jspoel. I thought I'd drop a message on your TP about this. Recently the karma changing edits of: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/69.125.134.190 have been getting reverted. I know in the past he inserted correct information, however, what has been added recently has been getting reverted as incorrect by some of the other users with the GECK like User:Paladin117. I dunno which is correct as I lack the GECK and I figured this might be something you could look into. Richie9999 (talk) 19:33, May 4, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Polls Category[]

Hey J. About the fact of making the Polls category, I felt that it was indeed necessary as both the Category:Wiki news digests and Category:The Hole both have their own categories and they are prominent community attractions, why not the polls aswell? And your correct that sure they are listed under community and monthly news, but I feel someone is more likely to search for past polls in a category of the polls than that of other community features thrown in aswell. Categorizes are all about linking similar content together. But if you feel that it's not necessary, so be it. I'll have Nate not add them. Your call though J. --The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 00:47, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

If your concerned with the number of categories, I'd personally get rid of the by month ones as really, not many would search a certain month, and they themselves are just places inside the overarching category of community news, which the items themselves are placed in in order to work the templates on the main page. So the monthly ones to me at least seem quite redundant. --The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 00:57, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

Clearing the disambig page[]

I started taking a look at the disambig. list and it appears that some of these instances are by design. For example, the Max Stone page begins with "For other characters in the Fallout universe named Max, see Max." and links to the disambig. page for Max. Should we just leave these alone? --FFIX (talk) 14:56, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

There are also some articles that are protected from editing, like Fallout Bible 3. Should I leave those for an admin? --FFIX (talk) 15:10, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Where are you at working on the disambig list? I was working from #1000 backwards, but it looks like you may have caught up with me. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:24, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Roger. I'll hit some more tomorrow. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:28, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

Entities[]

They're essentially the same thing. One is a rendered arrow, the other is the html entity code for that arrow. There are some instances in templates that you need to use the entity code (e.g. apostrophes in page names), but if you try it without the html code and it works, it should be ok. If it doesn't work, then you'll have to leave the entity code. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 17:30, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

Re:Botwork[]

Excellent! I'll get right on it. --Skire (talk) 23:22, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

BTW, are there certain categories that you would like me to do first (for <br> --> <br />)? --Skire (talk) 23:31, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Right, but I was wondering what pages you would have me target first? The bot needs a source for pages. If it doesn't matter, I'll just go category by category. --Skire (talk) 23:37, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
I'll just go by game then (I have some sort of category structure on my planner page.) And also, I just made a few test edits that showed me there was a massive overlook in the bot's programming that removed all spaces! So I fixed that and it should be working well now. Are we OK to proceed? --Skire (talk) 00:14, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
Consider it done. --Skire (talk) 00:36, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
