Yeah, I've noticed that trend lately as well. However I still think the title "Moderator" applies since they bear the rights of both chat moderators and patrollers, and the combination of the two rights sets makes for a unique condition that I think is important to distinguish. I'm doing ok, school has me very busy right now. I am taking Organic Chemistry two and Microbiology consecutively and those two classes eat a large amount of my time. I've also started talking with someone over long distance, and that takes a lot of my time as well. I need to start editing more, probably going to do some overhaul stuff with the bug charts soon. ---bleep196- (talk) 18:50, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

Forum Invitation[]

After its creation five days ago, Forum:Military conflict policy brainstorming is about to wrap up and I feel it could use some more public attention.

As one of the active participants on the Fallout Wiki:Military conflicts project, I feel it necessary to bring this forum to your attention in order to generate a better result.

I hope you can find the time to put in your input. If not, then I understand completely. Thanks for reading, --The Ever Ruler (talk) 21:47, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Forums[]

They're all set up, save for creating the actual archived forums and the categories for them. I'm not sure if we can use a bot to move the archived forums from the existing archive to the new ones, since we'll have to go into page history and determine which forum they originally came from (and probably check to see if that was the correct one to begin with). We'll probably have to do these by hand, there are about 900 or so of them, but you're welcome to help with that when everything's ready. I'm just tweaking the forum intro for the archived forums now. Probably be ready to start moving them tomorrow. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:24, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

All the changes to the forums, forum templates and new categories are done. We'll need to start moving the archived forums back to the proper categories. I will write up a forum on the DB with instructions so everyone knows how to do this correctly and hope to get some help. Be advised: there are some empty categories. Eventually, all the archived categories will be populated, but the "pinned" forum categories will not be until we "pin" some forums. Please do not delete any of these empty categories, I'd rather have them set up now and ready for content than have to remember how to set them up later on when we actually "pin" something. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 15:47, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
Do you think AWB can run over that archived forum cat, find the old forum header templates and add them back to the pages with the additional |archived parameter? I don't want the archived forum template removed from the threads, though, so you can't just revert the edit. Either that or you do two runs: One to revert and one to add the archived forum template back in. Possible? The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 16:49, March 19, 2014 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan. I'm probably gonna do a couple by hand in each category just to make sure nothing unexpected comes up. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:24, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

(The new categories will not be listed as forums on the forum index. They will have their own forum lists (those are already made) that are linked from the bottom of their parent forum. For example: Forum:Archived Wiki discussion will only be linked to from the bottom of Forum:Wiki discussion. All you need to do is put the old forumheader template back, and add the |archived parameter to it. Leave the {{Archivedforum}} template in place. Once everything's moved, we'll remove the old archive category from that template. At some point, after we add the forumheader templates back, we can then go through and make sure things like applications are in the correct archive. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 00:48, March 20, 2014 (UTC)

Actually, I got bored and am almost through moving all applications and votes to Forum:Archived Wiki proposals and applications. When I'm done everything left should go to Forum:Archived Wiki discussion. Everything is all still in [[:Category:Forum archives]], so you're going to have to configure your bot to check to see if it's also in Category:Archived Wiki proposals and applications or not. If it's already in Category:Archived Wiki proposals and applications, have the bot skip it. I probably just made the job a lot harder, but, like I said, I was bored and had a lot of cigar left. Sorry. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 02:29, March 20, 2014 (UTC)
I ran awb and made the changes. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 02:48, March 22, 2014 (UTC)
Eh. No worries. I really needed to set AWB up to use here anyways. I ended up giving myself a bot flag to finish so I didn't slay rc too much. If I need to do something like this again, I'm just going to create a bot account. As an aside, I set up the AWB white list page. Right now, I've got your bot flagged as a bot and your main account as human. You'll be able to use AWB on both accounts, but only the bot will be able to use the autosave function. If you need this changed, you can access that page from the Help:Bots page. Anyone who wants to use AWB, either as a human or a bot must be listed on that page. Did I miss anyone? The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 23:51, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

Hm, not sure where to put my input, so I'll do it here.

It is a strange ban. It has to be admitted that both sides might have made small mistakes, which caused that issue to happen. Perhaps Leon shouldn't be banned, although there could've been a warning to either stop that discussion (if someone is offended by that topic), or have been given a warning, at least. To seal the matter, we should just forget this happened, but next time a warning (or a kick) must be given, else the ban is too early to be given. That is all. Energy X 19:15, May 14, 2014 (UTC)

Bureaucrats differ from regular administrators in that bureaucrats can give and revoke other people's administrative powers.

Bureaucrats are by definition administrators. Agent c (talk) 21:07, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

Not sure what to say Danny, the definition is right there. "Differ from other administrators". We cannot differ from other administrators if we are not implicitly administrators.... otherwise the statement is an absurdity. Agent c (talk) 20:54, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

That is the section on removing powers. Bureaucrats differ from regular administrators... How can I differ from a regular administrator if I am not an administrator? Agent c (talk) 21:29, May 26, 2014 (UTC)
And it is clear that bureaucrats aren't regular administrators.

In which case we are administrators, with all that goes with it. There is a lot of myth and mysticism about the Administrator position. It is, and always has been, a special administrator position. It cannot be a special administrator position if it isn't an administrator position. That would be like arguing the speaker of the house isn't a congressman because he took on an additional title. Agent c (talk) 21:36, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

Well, shall you tell the speaker that his position of speaker means he no longer holds the position of Congressman too, or do you want me to do it?

A Bureaucrat holds both positions. As they do also hold the position of Chat Moderator, Moderator, and Patroller. As an Admin, you also hold the positions of Moderator, Chat Moderator, and Patroller.

Take for example, the following:

Moderators have a wide discretion relating to the issuing of warnings and bans which infringe on these rules.— Chat Rules

Apparently "Chat Moderators" "Administrators" and "Bureaucrats" do not have wide discretion?

These are just guidelines for usual cases. Blocks and their duration are generally up to the discretion of Nukapedia's administrators and chat moderators.

But not Bureaucrats or full moderators?

Administrators and chat moderators use their discretion when applying these rules, and understanding of the rules depends on the moderator's perception of the rules

So everyone who does not hold the position of "moderator" is now bound by what a "moderator" interprets the rules to be?

Particular exceptions may be granted by specific administrator or chat moderator approval

So "Moderators" get to decide what the rule means, but "Administrators" and "chat moderators" only can create exceptions... and not "moderators"?

Moderators are reminded that they have the freedom to deal with situations with a less firm hand if required...

Again, Moderators, but noone else?

The chat is moderated by our active administrators, moderators, and chat-moderators; a list of whom can be here.

Burecreats are no longer moderating chat? I've not even completed going through this policy, but I think my point is clear.

If the policies were consistent on the use of a title to exclude all others, your argument might have merit - but only if the word "regular" was missing in the description of Bureaucrat. If a Bureaucrat differs from a "regular administrator" then he must by definition, also be an administrator for all purposes where "administrator" applies.

As it stands, the policies do not, and have not, ever discriminated upwardly in that fashion. A person at a "Higher" rights level by implication is also every position inclusive in that position... Else the policies become an absurdity. Agent c (talk) 21:59, May 26, 2014 (UTC)

In each one of these cases Danny, specific named positions are called. The most damming being the last one... You are by implication also saying that Bureaucrats cannot moderate chat as each other role with Chat Moderation powers is specifically named - if anything that proves that in our rules Bureaucrats are seen as little more than administrators with an extra tool - an argument I am sure you have made in the past.

In Legislative interpretation, there is a thing called the golden rule. Its simple, you read everything as written, unless its absurd, and then you read it in a way that isn't absurd. Our rules only make sense if they are read in line at least in the golden rule (there are more wider, purposive approaches) - that the absurdities of other positions not being included when a different, inclusive position is named should be read to include other positions which include that position. Hey Danny. I relayed Ryan and I's position to both Chad and Gunny some time ago. I was unable to get in contact with Jakov before some personal issues for me took hold, so I can only assume that his views are unchanged from what he conveyed on your talk page. If the committee requires a majority, then that was achieved and the information relayed regardless of Jakov's position as Ryan and I had agreed on a recommendation. If consensus is required, that did not occur. Either way, my assumption was that both Chad and Gunny were not going to enforce our decision even if we had reached a consensus to take action, based on our conversation. I had assumed that they would make some form of public announcement to belay any confusion. FollowersApocalypseLogo A Follower  Talk  19:02, June 3, 2014 (UTC)

Question[]

I've seen your views on whether BCs are admins or not. In spite of what the policy clearly states, you obviously feel we are not. I've got a question for you: Are you a chat moderator? Are you a Patroller? Obviously, you will answer no. But I assume you feel that you still hold the rights that chat moderators and patrollers hold. Am I correct there? The question of whether BCs are admins or not is not really a question of whether we hold the rights they do, as we do, and also chat moderator and patroller and revert, just like you do. It's a question of semantics. If I take you correctly you define us as bureaucrats because that is the "title" we hold. We do not, in your opinion, also hold the title of admin, er go, we can't endorse, since only admins can.

I'll offer you two different takes on this. One, take a quick look at the userlist. You'll see that we all, you, me, J, chad, Pally, Burrs, we all have the "sysop" label. Now, J, Chad, Clyde and I also have bureaucrat. As Chad recently stated, none of us stopped being sysops when we got bc. Now, I understand that applies to the rights and tools we have, but I'll get back to that in a second. The second take is like I said above. Our very own admin page defines us as admins. Admins that are "irregular" in that we also have additional rights. Says so right at the top of the page. So, as far as I can tell, both from a rights title standpoint, and from a policy standpoint, we're all admins/sysops.

But here's where I again argue it's semantics. What is being discussed is taking away one of our rights. The right we hold as sysops/admins to endorse. Since it's one of our rights we're talking about here, I reckon the correct way to interpret if we're admins or not is do we have the admin box ticked in our user rights logs. We do. The logic you're following would be akin to me asking you not to use your chat moderator, patroller or revert rights, since you do not hold any of those "titles". Now, remember, I have no problem at all with not endorsing chat mod applicants. But that is my choice. I prefer not to do it for my own personal reasons. That's me though. Just because I choose to do that doesn't mean I'm at all comfortable with the community taking away one of the rights I've worked hard to get. Does anyone want to see a vote on whether admins will be allowed to continue to moderate chat? I didn't think so. I'd appreciate it if you consider my points. I understand how you, personally, feel, but you've got to understand that just because that's how you interpret the issue doesn't mean that either everyone else does, or that it's necessarily correct. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:37, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

Of course we'll respect what the community passes. It would worry me greatly if people thought we wouldn't. As for the reductio ad absurdum, I thought that was an inspired use of the tactic. Most people seem to use it incorrectly. I enjoy it's proper usage, but you don't want to always go to it. In this case, it works for me because admins not moderating chat is absurd. People usually construct straw man arguments instead of proper argumentum ad absurdum. While there are differences in BCs not endorsing chat mods, and admins not moderating chat, comparing the two does not seem to me to be a logical fallacy, eg a straw man. Anyways, I enjoyed the discussion, even if we disagree. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:13, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Tense[]

I discussed the matter with both Gunny and Chad regarding the tense of the Van Buren quest articles. The first sentence of all Van Buren articles sets the tense as being in past tense "Use Think Tank for Data was going to be a quest in Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studios". There cannot be a present tense for something that does not exist such as Van Buren. Saying that a quest is located somewhere "It is located in Boulder." suggests the existence of the game when there is none. Ideally, and what I am going to ask bears to do with his bot, the second part of "Use Think Tank for Data was going to be a quest in Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studios. It is located in Boulder." should read something like "It was meant to be located in..." or It was to be located in..." As most Van buren quest pages have this disagreement. Further complicating this issue are the "canceled" Van Buren quests that do their own thing. Additionally, FW:EDIT says "generally" which is not the same as always. Present tense, for articles for a cancelled games shouldn't be used as, again, it implies the idea that the game actually exists as a finished product. Richie9999 (talk) 02:02, June 12, 2014 (UTC)

No, what I'm suggesting is just changing the second part of the opening bit "It is located in..." to "It was meant to be located in..." or "It was to be located in...". I'm striving for consistency in the first blurb that changes tense with the second sentence (when it is included). No changes at all to text from teh design docs. Richie9999 (talk) 02:30, June 12, 2014 (UTC)
Just the lead sections. And then there's the work I was doing with turning the Source section on VB quest articles into a references section while adding an inline citation with the source link at the end of a link section. These are both things I can do on my own, however, a bot would greatly simplify the process.Richie9999 (talk) 02:43, June 12, 2014 (UTC)
If you need an idea of what I was doing in regards to the sources/references you can see the change here.Richie9999 (talk) 03:05, June 12, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, those 3 books are oversized. I checked them all and will upload the images of them soon. A few months, then I plan to reach 200k edits. We'll have a small party at 250k I think, in line with the achievements. And a quarter of a million sounds better than 200k right? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:06, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

Width welcome message[]

Well, initially my suggestion was a fixed width and the columns were closer then to eachother compared after you added a percentage width. I felt after you did that, the columns were too far apart again. So I went back I chose an inbetween solution. Closer again but not as close as the other suggestions. Personally I don't mind the space it has now between the third column and the Vault Boy, and with the 26% the columns are just a tad too far apart I think. Salient Green[]

Dev confirmation is required for weapons, not standard behind the scenes content. Our standards call for "direct visual or textual correlations" Salient green makes no sense word wise as the word Salient has nothing to do with plant matter. Additionally, within the context of a dlc that drops references to old science fiction movies all the time (see mobius and Forbidden planet and Plan 9 From Outer Space). As the reference it obvious it fits the criteria for direct visual or textual correlation. The purpose of Salient Green doesn't enter into it. If we require developer confirmation for all behind the scenes sections then we lose everything for the first two fallouts, such as the Police Call Box, the robot in Klamath referencing 2001 A Space Oddyssey, The Blues Brothers and Big Trouble in Little China references and more. These are perhaps less obvious than Salient Green yet they stay. In accordance with policy, Salient Green being a reference to Soylent Green quite correct. Richie9999 (talk) 03:58, November 26, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Salient Green[]

In regards to the conflict on the page, proper channels were followed, consensus, as observed on the talk page, seemed to have been reached (as much as it ever is on this wiki). The item was discussed, by all parties it was seen as something that was likely a reference. Garoux's main issue from what I read, (correct me if I'm horribly mistaken) seemed to arise from the fact that he could not get a developer to verify it as correct and that the use of the item was nothing like the use of Salient Green in the film. To the first point, I repeatedly pointed out that as policy stands, a developer confirmation is irrelevant and unnecessary. To the argument that the items use does not mirror that of the item in the film I also argue that it is irrelevant as the item's name is what matters. All we call for is direct visual or textual correlation. There is as much correlation for Salient Green as there is for the Blues Brothers quote in Fallout 2, or Mobius' reference to Plan 9 From Outer space. On its own, as pointed out, Most Important Green or any of the other definitions for "Salient" do not make any sense in there. Upon consensus being achieved, the edit was restored, as per policy and was then reverted with a message regarding it not on the talk page of the article where it should be but on my talk page. The use of "argumentum ad populum" by Garoux is farcical as you cannot apply that to just one item selectively but must be applied to everything on the wiki if that is one of the arguments being used to opposed the inclusion of the reference largely invalidating most behind the scenes references in all games prior to Fallout: New Vegas. Stating that all editors must be able to verify the information requires all editors to have the same pop culture background knowledge.

As far as forums go, an edit war regarding Salient Green belongs on that articles talk page. If Garoux wishes to propose a new policy he is, as I stated multiple times, more than welcome to do so.

You say you find my conduct disappointing so I ask, what would you have done in my situation? Would you have allowed an argument to go on on the talk page until all editors there agreed (despite the fact that all agreed it was likely a reference) for days or more? Would you have not permitted content to be included on the wiki? Would you have disagreed with the standing policies that are in place? Would you have restored the content once all but one dissenter agreed it belonged there or would you have held the content due to the opinions and thoughts of one voice? Would you have permitted the beginning of a new edit war over the same material or would you too have locked the page? To me it seemed it was going in circles and nothing short of a developer saying definitively one way or the other would have ended it. I would like to know as I am curious about how you would have handled the situation had it been handed to you.

If you feel strongly that the page should not be locked, feel free to unlock it, I will not stop you. If you wish to remove the information that was initially removed because Garoux found issue with it due to the fact that he could not get a developer to confirm it (something that again, was never required) I only ask that you have a reason that has not been discussed to death, a reason that in using does not serve to invalidate existing behind the scenes content elsewhere if applied there as well. However, I cannot say with certainty that others will not oppose you, should you choose to take those actions.

Richie9999 (talk) 19:13, November 27, 2014 (UTC)

Policy was interpreted the same way it always has. In regards to the edit war it was followed properly. In regards to textual correlation it was followed according to the precedent that has been set forth through past use of the policy. The item was removed due to Garoux not being able to acquire a developer confirmation which itself serves to circumvent the established policy. Richie9999 (talk) 21:56, November 27, 2014 (UTC)

Garoux's behavior[]

Garoux is far out of line and has been for some time. Were this anyone but Garoux the user would have been banned long ago. The history of interactions between both him and Agent c speaks for itself. One exchange like the two of them have had during the past year would have gotten any other user banned, but because it was Garoux it was ignored, and people looked the other way. We cannot make exceptions for users here just because they were once admins, or are regular users. The rules exist for all users not for us to selectively apply them as we see fit. The final straw was Garoux's talk page message to Agent c earlier today, which can be found on Agent c's talk page archive #12. The final exchange serves as rather apparent bait directed at a person who had already expressed that the topic should be discussed in the relevant space, not on personal talk pages. This comes after BOTH of them were told to stop their bickering, as pointed out in my talk page message to Garoux regarding his ban. I do not ban lightly, however, I felt the ban was warranted. The accumulative actions of Garoux speak to a history of baiting and insulting Agent c. The only reason a ban has not been instated prior to this is because Agent c wants to avoid appearing biased and ALL other admins including the two of us have been content to look the other way. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. Insulting, harassing and instigating conflicts with other users cannot be permitted, it is a violation of our wiki's policies. Richie9999 (talk) 04:29, December 22, 2014 (UTC)

Furthermore the only farce I see is the amount of inaction exhibited by the admin team in regards to the conflict and drama between those two that has been going on far too long. It seems rather apparent to me mediation between the two would not achieve much and if there was a chance for it to work the time has long since passed. Why it was not done sooner I cannot say, but enough is enough. This drama between those two cannot be permitted anymore. This is a wiki, not a soap opera. Richie9999 (talk) 04:35, December 22, 2014 (UTC)
The insult is the jab directed at Chad in the final talk page message. Insulting other users was only ONE of my ban reasons. In that was also "Starting and being involved in user conflicts (he's started and been engaged in many of those), as well as harassing other users." In my book his behavior towards Agent c over the course of this past year most definitely constitutes harassment. The fact that none of this was addressed by anyone on the admin team in any way PRIOR to my talk page message to the both of them November 24th is a travesty. Richie9999 (talk) 04:40, December 22, 2014 (UTC)
It shouldn't be surprising that Garoux was the one banned. With this latest conflict that, as I pointed out, was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back, Agent c reiterated that the discussion should take place in the appropriate forum not talk pages.
Please place any comments you have in the relevant forum and and where you have a point on topic. As for your other comments, I shalln't be rising to your bait, I don't need to answer your questions to make sense to the comment, it makes sense as it is. Agent c (talk) 18:41, December 21, 2014 (UTC)
In keeping with the earlier warning, that was the appropriate response. Continuing on, however, was not. You will note, that nonetheless I still issued Agent c with another warning, which, while largely symbolic in nature, I hope carries with it the very clear indication that this sort of behavior is not to be tolerated. Bob[]

Have you not been paying attention to the recent talks about this? We just finished a vote with clarifies that BtS content DOES NOT need to be verified. (I refer to to this and this). The requirement for BtS content is as follows;

"Behind the scenes" information in the form of cultural references is acceptable page content only when there are obvious direct visual or textual correlations, in the event there is no developer confirmation.

This specific rule supersedes the general rule of "everything must be verified."

Do I think that there need to be expansion for this point? Yes I do. But the verify doesn't cover that. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 21:22, January 2, 2015 (UTC)

Except the issue isn't that it has no reference, it's that it lacks detail. The verify template doesn't mark things for "adding detail". A more appropriate template would be clean up. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 21:35, January 2, 2015 (UTC)

Core Region[]

Core region is an unofficial term made up by people on this wiki that never appears in game. While every instance of Core Region may not refer specifically to New Cali two things need to be considered; 1) New Cali is actually a real name as far as the games go, 2) the wiki redirects Core region to new cali anyway. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 17:05, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

Core region is used to refer to both the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 areas. Fallout 2's area is never really given a name (IIRC) but as far as we know (IIRC) it isn't New Cali. This does raise a small issue, but its still better tan using a made up term (abet not perfect). JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 17:12, April 4, 2015 (UTC)
Either is good. Checking WhatLinksHere I see fixing the redirects is completed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:16, April 4, 2015 (UTC)
Aye. I say that using New Cali as a general term is the best case. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 17:17, April 4, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Skire, was wondering if I can ask for another bot run. Namely, would you please move all the pages in Category:Post-War companies to Category:Post-War businesses. Thanks, Paladin117>>iff bored; 23:49, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

Deleting unused files on the German wiki[]

Can you delete all unused files on the german wiki? See here. I can give you temp admin rights there. I know it's possible because Porter once did it at the end of 2010. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:24, May 3, 2015 (UTC)

Too bad. I'll do it the old-fashioned way then. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:58, May 3, 2015 (UTC)

Skype[]

I currently do not have a reliable computer, and have not had one for over a month now. I am building my own computer right now, but with two jobs, and both the PSU and mobo I ordered being duds, it has evidently become a tedious process. In any case, I have confidence that everything will be setup within two weeks.

Hope to see you then - you will likely not hear from me again until my computer is finished. GarouxBloodline 08:21, May 6, 2015 (UTC)

Mobo[]

I am, hopefully, within the final stretch. The mobo was a dud, and is currently being inspected before they send me the replacement. They expedited the RMA, and got me next-day-shipping since I am a regular customer - I am hoping to have my new mobo this week. After that, I just need to find the time to sit down and assemble everything (once again).

Got a lot to catch up on. 69.247.6.120 02:10, May 19, 2015 (UTC)

I have a bunch of goals for the server once I am properly back online. Still interested, or has the charm worn off with this hiatus? 69.247.6.120 02:16, May 19, 2015 (UTC)
God, I would hope it has not changed - I paid good money for this I.P. I am mostly accessing the Internet using my friend's laptop right now, while she stays with me. When she is not around, I have actually been using my 3DS to access the Internet - lmao. But I do not come onto the wiki with my 3DS - it is almost impossible to access the editing tools needed to leave messages and such.
And have fun with the DLCs! After modding my New Vegas with 800+ mods, spending weeks merging every mod using F:NVEdit and WryeBash, and then putting in hundreds of hours, I can safely say that I do not think I could ever go back to vanilla F:NV. Hell, even the modded game is getting to the point of boring me. Need some Fallout 4 to get my next fix in, at this rate. xD 69.247.6.120 03:02, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
Want to know something funny? The only DLC I have actually played on the computer, is HH, I believe. Mod content, including new lands mods, always kept me too distracted to play the actual main quests and such. 69.247.6.120 03:34, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
I have played and beaten all of them - on the console. My PC version was a later splurge when I upgraded from an Alienware to an Asus back in 2013. 69.247.6.120 05:56, May 21, 2015 (UTC)
I am slowly, but surely making the full-transition. I have not seriously played on my Xbox/Xbox 360 for about 2-3 years now, and the only reason I still play on my PS3, is because of my Ratchet and Clank games, as well as Ico/Shadow of the Colossus. However... I still play my Nintendo 64 a lot. :P Banjo-tooie ftw. 69.247.6.120 18:38, May 21, 2015 (UTC)

Waiting Game[]

Here is my current status, as detailed by Newegg's website:

"Your return has been received, and the contents are currently being inspected. If for any reason there is a problem with your return, you will be contacted via e-mail with further details."

Here is my current status, given by a Newegg representative after I e-mailed them a couple of days ago:

"Since this item was beyond our warranty, we issued you a store credit RMA as an exception. After the RMA is processed, it will take 1-2 business days for a store credit gift card in a full amount of $196.64 to be emailed to you. Store credit gift card does not expire. Thank you for your understanding and patience."

I am hopeful that the store credit will be issued sometime tomorrow, since it is getting pretty late in the day for today. They guaranteed next-day shipping, so I should hopefully get the replacement in 1-2 days after re-ordering. Guess I will see. 69.247.6.120 23:55, May 27, 2015 (UTC)

It is a bit more involved than that - remind me to explain it when I have my new computer running, and we can talk through Skype. Too many nosy people around here, even over inane conversations such as this one, which I have grown very weary of. 69.247.6.120 05:32, May 28, 2015 (UTC)

FO4 idea[]

That's a great idea! In fact, when the trailer was released I soon thought of you living there. If I had been living in Boston, I'd definitely straight away would visit those locations, check and compare everything and such. Reminds of my early days here, when a user did the exact same thing, made a blog of the game location images with next to it the photo's he had made in New Vegas, trying to get an exact match. I'll try to find it for you. So, a marvelous idea, and a bonus to have when the time comes for users to enjoy. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:01, June 5, 2015 (UTC)

Template[]

I can get it down to just leaving the abb template without the rest, but have yet to figure out a way to get rid of that, too. Substituting nested templates has always been pain. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:40, June 6, 2015 (UTC)

Here's a thought: You'd use a bot with this, right? What about just running over game specific cats and changing it for each new game? The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:41, June 6, 2015 (UTC)
That we can do. Place in front of the #ifeq argument and the pagename magic word, just after the double brackets. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:59, June 8, 2015 (UTC)
I would just run two regexes. One looking for the pagename magic word and one looking for actual pagenames. That should cover them both. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 02:12, June 8, 2015 (UTC)
I just thought of something else. We should probably be using the {{Pagename nd}} template there anyways, right? And if that's the case, you can't substitute it at all. Same problem as with the abb template. It's not built to be substituted. We can substitute the magic word pagename, though, but then we'd have to go in and clean it all up. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:07, June 10, 2015 (UTC)
{{Pagename nd}} appears only in {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>#ifeq:{{{1|}}}|yes|''[[Fallout 4]]''.|''Fallout 4''.}} This gets rid of the #ifeq statement. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 22:38, June 10, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, those are our choices. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:01, June 11, 2015 (UTC)
All of the article creation templates are using it right now, so that would be the most consistent. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 01:06, June 11, 2015 (UTC)

Cont.[]

Mhm - got my new mobo, and the computer is assembled and ready to go. After I pick my car up from the shop tomorrow, I have a computer guy I need to run out to, so that he can transfer data from my old hard-drive onto the new computer, as well as transferring my OS.

It all depends on how fast he gets to doing that work. I could have it by Friday, or it might run him into the weekend depending on what else he is working on. Anyways, unless my Pagan practices catch up to me, everything will be ready to go this weekend. 69.247.6.120 05:13, June 11, 2015 (UTC)

Noob[]

Them's fightin' words, son. User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 00:17, June 18, 2015 (UTC)

I will do what I can, but at the moment, I am too busy to even play my new games (Witcher 3 is currently collecting dust). Once the meeting in 3 days is over, I also have a multi-community competition to start, which will take up some time while judges are picked, rules are gone over, and entries start pouring in.
I will update you as soon as I can. In the meantime, I hope you have fun in Ireland. :) Hope you meet some good-looking redheads. I am already envious that I will not be able to experience that right now. :c User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 00:25, June 18, 2015 (UTC)
Schedule should stabilize in 2-3 weeks. How long will you be gone? User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 00:56, June 18, 2015 (UTC)

Around and about[]

Everything is fine - I have just been busy with the competition and all. A couple communities got a premature start, with today and tomorrow getting everyone started.

I was hoping for earlier, but I had to divert quite a bit of time seeing if Nukapedia wanted to be interested. :P Anyways, next week a ton of time will open up for me. First thing I plan on doing, is finaaaally trying out the Witcher 3.

After that, I will be checking the integrity of our server data. The hard-drive transfer seemed to have gone smoothly, but something that should be taken into account, is that I kind of went the cheap route and had the data pulled off of my older HDD (since it was already out), instead of paying the guy to pull the newer one out of my notebook. We did not put much time into the server during the time when I replaced the HDD in my notebook, so we will only lose a tiny bit of work that we can easily make up. User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 16:56, June 30, 2015 (UTC)

Got some bad news: the old and bad HDD deteriorated, and quite a bit of my old data became corrupt. Our Minecraft server was not able to be retrieved because of this.
However, not all is bad. I still have my new HDD with all of my data on it - I just need to buy/borrow an external battery charger so that I can power my notebook back up, so that I can pull everything I need onto a flash-drive and transfer it all over onto my new computer. Better news is that since I will have to do it this way, we will not lose any of our progress as we would have if I had relied on the old HDD.
So I will have to update you when I get around to doing all of that. In the meantime, I am up for anything else. I know the new update for Terraria just came out, and it is pretty beast! User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 16:58, July 3, 2015 (UTC)
I will see about heading out to Best Buy or somewhere this weekend, since I already have plans to be out of the house. User:Sarkhan the Sojourner 01:49, July 4, 2015 (UTC)

Images[]

I'll see what I can do. Today may be either real busy, or real not busy. Not sure right now:). The least I can do is find the link to the uncompressed trailer. Ah, here it is: http://www.gamersyde.com/download_fallout_4_trailer-34774_en.html. It's just a little smaller than the one we have from Bethesda's marketing portal, but the images should be as clear as you need. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 15:34, July 4, 2015 (UTC)

You can find most images you ask for on the Boston page, in the gallery. These are of the best quality. Don't know if the MIT is available somewhere. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:41, July 4, 2015 (UTC)
Hey, very nice! I've enjoyed watching and comparing the images. Looks like you've had a good time yourself. Good weather and lots of people on the 4th of July in Boston. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:55, July 6, 2015 (UTC)

Formatting[]

I apologize for editing the format of your comment without first asking your permission. However, I just want to ask you to please follow the formatting the rest of the page has. It ensures that the content is standard and easy to follow.

I know that you prefer your signature on the same line as your last sentence but in this case can you put it on it's own line? Please?

Shining-Armor (talk) 01:50, July 22, 2015 (UTC)

I appreciate it and thank you.
As for formatting I am quite aware that editing comments is... frowned upon so to speak. I wholeheartedly believe that the edits that I am making are constructive. I am organizing the content in such a way that people looking to contribute can easily read and get up to speed on. The comments have a set order and so do the headings that are in the discussion. Everything I have done to change the aesthetic of the page is to make it clear what is happening and what it is being said.
This is not only important for users who wish to look at the post now and go through it but it is also important when looking back. I have analyzed previous threads on the wiki and the way content is just plastered every which way makes it incredibly difficult to follow, and for a new user looking in, quite foreboding.
If you wish to block me in accordance with policy then that is your prerogative, I am still going to stand by my actions regardless.
As for the formatting rules I have chosen they go along with what I think is easy to read. I am aware that I have no authority to force people to follow them and my format doesn't carry much weight because I have no power to enforce it.
I would, however, like to explain why I ask that signatures be on their own line. I myself am color blind so for me it can be quite difficult differentiating where a person's post ends and another begins, especially when the signature is made up of nothing more than a link. I ask that signatures be on their own line because it makes it much clearer whose post is done and when as well as it greatly aids in finding out who wrote what.
All of that aside I will stop making formatting edits if you wish but I will no longer bother contributing to the forum itself.
Let me know what you want.

The Institute[]

Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting too. That's why I double checked Bigsley's quote before asking. If the Institute isn't mentioned specifically, I don't think it should be listed as being mentioned, but I'll give him a chance to respond. Paladin117>>iff bored; 20:04, August 1, 2015 (UTC)

Memorial Vote[]

I have reopened the memorial vote. I have removed all votes, and all comments due to the unpleasantness and questions over what the vote was for. I have reframed it around the intention of the vote, and would ask that all participants read through my comments about removing the previous comments. This isn't directed at anyone, this just a message I'm sending all participants. This is a recording. Agent c (talk) 18:17, August 11, 2015 (UTC)

Dutch team[]

I know, it's all over the news these days in Holland, you can't miss it. There's general misery in the Dutch team, the players can't seem to do anything right and there's no chemistry. We'll probably even miss out on the play-offs and won't be in Euro 2016 at all. Just a small chance left for us. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:35, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

That's the million dollar question all right. One important (negative) thing that happened is that Van Gaal, the coach, left after the World Cup 2014. He gave a lot of spirit to the team and that's gone now. First with Hiddink and now Blind can't seem to bring the magic back either. There's no spark and determination with the players anymore. Maybe it's a downtime after so much success at the WC. I'm not sure. But who knows, we'll narrowly qualify and do well at the EC. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:03, September 8, 2015 (UTC)

Bot[]

As you may know Wikia changed the youtube template, making the old one stop working. Could you please set your bot up to replace all the uses of the old one with the new one? JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 17:23, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

I do not know where the template lives now, but it looks like this <center><youtube width="100" height="25">J6SDp3Un_VI</youtube><center> (J6SDp3Un_VI is the video's URL). It should be easy enough to replace via bot, if we just do it via bookends round the video's URL. JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 21:31, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

Portable infoboxes[]

Heya :) Just stopping by to see if you have any thoughts on the Portable infobox project that Shining-Armor started up a little while ago. Because of Fallout's obvious importance to Wikia, particularly as we approach the launch of Fallout 4, we'd like to make sure that all your infoboxes are as accessible by mobile devices as is possible. Please drop by the forum as soon as you can and give your views. And of course my user talk page is always open to whatever comments — even rude ones — that you'd like to make!

I would like to use the Christmas/New Year-wishes-tradition, though I'm a week late, to thank those around me who kept this wiki and daily life more fun for me during the past year. Everything just seems so normal and evident that we are here almost every day, yet it's very worthwhile to consider for a moment how wonderful it is to have people like you around me, making editing and being on chat a lot more enjoyable. Image categories and bot programming[]

Hey. Would it be possible to program a bot to add the copyright mention on all the images belonging to the subcategories of Category:Fallout 4 images? There's a trap: the bot shouldn't add the mention if the word 'copyright' is already present in the text of the page. The mention should be added before the listing of the various categories the image belongs to. Is it possible to create such a bot with the Wikia tools? --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 13:41, January 22, 2016 (UTC)

Wikia's forced addition of videos to the wiki[]

Hello, I realise you may not have edited the wiki, or even visited us in a while. We do miss you, and I apologise for contacting you with a request for help… but we do need it, and there’s not much you need to do to help us.

As you may be aware, Wikia/Fandom have added a number of videos to pages on the wiki that they have self authored. Although the consensus view so far seems to be that these are not to our standards, I encourage you to view these for yourself and make up your own mind.

You can find a link to all the videos, and a petition I would like you to consider here. If you believe that these videos do not meet our standards, detract from the wiki, and should be removed, I encourage you to vote yes on this petition. You are of course welcome to vote no if you do not believe this is the case.

Thank you for your consideration. Agent c (talk) 21:25, September 7, 2017 (UTC)

Video Forums[]

Thank you for participating in the video forums so far.

In order to work out where to go from here, I've created another forum asking the community where our "Red line" is, and whether or not I should continue to be the point person on this.

You can find the new forum here. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this matter. Agent c (talk) 16:14, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

All Hands Meeting[]

Okay, I think its clear that going ahead with a meeting is a good idea. At this stage I would like to open the floor to agenda items. We have the following things to discuss.

  • An update on any negotiations, and other actions
  • Possible action to progress our case further whilst staying on network
  • Possible engagement with Wikia on video in line with the proposed deal- if we should participate and whom that contact person should be.
  • Possible alternatives if the situation cannot be resolved.

Please let me know if you want anything added to the agenda here

I'll be asking a number of people to speak on certain issues, but as always there will be plenty of room for discussion.

I propose that the meeting be held at 3pm North American Eastern Time on Sunday 24 September, this should be 8pm in London, 9pm Central European time, and Midday North American Western. If there are any objections please note them below and we'll look into alternative scheduling, the more objections the harder we look for a new time.

We have arranged facilities for the meeting, it will be held online. It is open to all persons who have participated in any of the video discussion threads up to today, except those employed by Fandom/Wikia inc (as this is the Community's meeting), or have been employed by them in the recent past.

Votes taken in this meeting will be taken as consensus view of the wiki, so everyone is encouraged to attend.

We have setup a discord server (Nukapedia's Fallout Shelter) located here. It is mobile friendly (via an app) and is very flexible.

Although everyone is welcome in our social space (The-Common-Room), only persons who meet the above criteria will be admitted to The-Town-Hall (where the meeting will be located). You may be asked to verify your account before this access is granted. Agent c (talk) 21:53, September 11, 2017 (UTC)
