Executive suites[]

Huh. The addition didn't appear in the recent edits log. I must have missed it. I removed the redundant info and also moved the emitter locations as a subsection of layout. For future reference, there are only a few things that can be considered as section headers (i.e. layout, background, notable loot, etc.) in a locations article. Anything else should be integrated within those sections as best as possible. For your reference, I advise you to look at the locations projects for both Fallout 3 and New Vegas. They give a clear outline on appropriate page layout for these articles. They can be found here and here. Happy editing! FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 23:42, March 23, 2013 (UTC)

Not a problem! If you are interested in assisting with those projects, feel free to sign up on the project page also. There are charts set up that you can fill in as tasks are accomplished. As good as the wiki looks now, there is still lots of work to do and any help is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in learning about other aspects of the wiki, you should also check out Nukapedia's New User Network which can be found here. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions/concerns, and I look forward to your contributions. FollowersApocalypseLogonihil novi sub sole 21:03, March 24, 2013 (UTC)

Clearing the disambig page[]

Thanks for signing up with this project, it's noted! If you need help with it, let me know. I'm also aware that you're doing work on changing character pages to 3rd person. Keep up the good work. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:44, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can leave those (the ones using the {{for}} template alone. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:04, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, leave those to the admins. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:16, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

GECK[]

Thanks for that... The controversy as far as I'm concerned isn't over until we've learned some lessons and started to make changes to avoid this happening again. I'll see what we can do about putting your suggestion into play. Agent c (talk) 23:32, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hey that's a good idea you just posted on Agent c's page. That way people can check in-game. For example I wanted to check Torchers karma to see if it was indeed Evil and wasn't able to figure it out ingame. Checked the console command page but didn't see getav. That's a powerful command. Just tested it on Torcher. It's -500, so a definite evil. Good tip. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:35, May 6, 2013 (UTC)

Disambig page[]

I can assure you there are way over 1000 pages. Maybe 5,000 or more who knows. But as long as links from 1-1000 are being cleared, the list is cached the next day and it will be a new list again. You can't select types, like the msg files. I don't see an option for that. Another way of checking disambig though is going to the Category:Disambiguation, open a page and then click on What links here (I have that under My Tools). Clear that and go to the next page in the disambig category. There may be some strange redirects but you can mostly leave them be. If it's a really strange one remove all links to it and nominate it for deletion {{delete}}. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:04, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

I'm aware of the problem. It has made me scratch my head too why links for Kevin and Cook stay in the disambig list while I already updated the links a few days ago. Normally when I update navboxes (which is where the links are coming from), they are cleared from the disambig list when Wikia caches overnight. But not with these examples you give. Strange. I edited the Enclave navbox today in the hope that that may work. I'm not sure. Otherwise you can try a few pages which have a navbox and make a small edit (space or something), make a note of which page you changed and then check tomorrow if it's updated. Let me know if that works. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:00, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
I just changed a few pages with the Enclave navbox on it, like PMV Valdez. Once I did, Kevin (which is linked in the navbox) disappeared from the What links here list. So that works. Which means an edit is necessary to remove it from the disambig list (shouldn't be necessary but I don't know what the problem is). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:43, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Infobox error[]

I'm having the exact same thing over here. Wikia's updating on Wednesday; I think they made an error with it today that's causing this. I'm sure they're working on it right now with 10 men to fix it as soon as possible. You can edit and it will iron itself out in a couple of hours or so. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 11:45, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation[]

We're down to less than 700 links to disambiguation pages! So all our work has certainly not been in vain. We can slice off a few more I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:11, May 17, 2013 (UTC)

Infobox error[]

I reverted your change to the infobox as we are waiting for wikia's fix to the error last I checked. Until then or until it's officially decided to fix it on our own, we wait. Richie9999 (talk) 21:42, May 19, 2013 (UTC)

I know, spotted it myself as well. I'll ask Skire to send a follow-up mail. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:28, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

Alien ship image[]

On the Mercenary camp page. I placed one of your images on the page. The other is too similiar to the one already there. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:31, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Second Person POV[]

Thanks for working diligently on this, it is appreciated. One thing I would like to suggest is working on the complete removal of any form of perspective, be it second or third. If you keep this in mind, you won't have to replace 'you' with 'courier' so much and the articles will flow much better. Thanks again, and happy editing. Sound dialogue project[]

Thanks for helping out with this project. Before you upload a file, can you give it a better name? The GECK names aren't recognizable. Like -FO3 Angela DoesntKnowImThere.ogg- instead of -Dialogueri rctopicdiegoang 0002219e 1.ogg- Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:10, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

Try removing {{Rotating content at the top and then preview the page. That should help. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:00, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
Hey man, thanks for helping with the audio files. Just tp let you know, the naming convention for these files should be "File:game abbreviation then character name and part of the quote. Your file needed to start with "F3". Anyway, thanks again for helping with uploads, if you're looking to do this a lot then feel free to officially join the project, don't for get to check off the characters you upload for.

I don't checkmark any of my soundfiles. It's taking time I can use better. I use the audio needed category to see what needs to be done and once a page has a soundfile, I remove the tag. The category is my reference. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:40, July 16, 2013 (UTC)

Honest Hearts quotes[]

Hey, I was wondering if you could possibly fill in the remaining Honest Hearts location articles without page-top quotes for the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki:Fallout_3_and_New_Vegas_quotations_project. I've only played Honest Hearts twice, and there aren't many helpful YouTube videos. Once the HH location quotes are done, the entire project will finally be finished. Think I found the problem. The second infobox moves the [More...] down to the top of that infobox. I'll try if Gunny knows how to fix it. Probably needs a change it in the {{Notable content}} template. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:38, February 2, 2014 (UTC)

Dialogues[]

I have a proposition for you. Can you help out with extracting the Fallout: New Vegas dialogue files from the GECK? It's not that hard, you can find the dialogue of each character in their GECK stats, select it, sort it a bit in Excel or OpenOffice and almost plain copy it to a wiki page. Theodorico (has a Russian name now) uses his bot to convert it to a table like you see here. Looks great, doesn't it and we add it to the character's infobox and can use it for reference. I can give you the details if you're interested. We're talking a few thousand entries so I can use all the help I can get. Let me know, ok? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:45, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Great. Ok. So first open the GECK on go to the NPC branch and sort it on the column User, and have the highest number at the top (Cass, 762). I've done up till Logan, which has 50 users. So you can make a start with 50 to 40 Users (25 entries or so). First one for you is Tommy Torino then. Doubleclick on it and select Dialogue. Then select Export Dialogue. It creates the file in \yourusername\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Bethesda Sortworks\Fallout New Vegas. Go to your Explorer and find it. You need to check Hidden Items in the Explorer, otherwise you can't see the AppData map. The file uses the character's EditorID name and for Tommy it's VMSTopsTommyTorini, plus DialogueExport in front of it, and txt as extension. For the filename on the wiki you can get rid of the DialogueExport and use the rest. So it will become VMSTopsTommyTorini.txt as our dialogue name. Select everything, open Excel or OpenOffice spreadsheet and paste it. Then sort everything on SPEAKER. Now you will have a very long list because every character that uses Tommy's voice actor (MaleAdult08) will be listed. So remove everyone except VMSTopsTommyTorini. Now select everything that has text in it (so A1 to U..) and create a page on the wiki VMSTopsTommyTorini.txt, blank it and paste your complete selection. Then add at the very bottom

</pre>

[[Category:Fallout: New Vegas dialogue files]]

and at the very top

{{Bot rewrite|NPCID=VMSTopsTommyTorini}}<pre>

to code the page for Theo's bot

Then save it and it should be good. Try it with Tommy and you can compare it with my latest files today to see if all went well.

Good luck! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:18, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Tommy Torini's dialogue is all good! So you can go ahead and continue doing others. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:47, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I think you're forgetting that before you post the txt files, you have to sort and remove the unwanted NPCs from the file. Your recent txt files have a lot of lines from other NPCs, such as Old Lady Gibson and Jeanie's lines being in this file. Paladin117>>iff bored; 15:15, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Choice if you want to remove unwanted NPCs (only leaving the unique one) is up to you. I'm done in about 30 seconds removing them. Once we get down to the 20 or so Users there will be generic NPCs like legionaries, NCR troopers, thugs etc. You can skip those for the time being. Only do the unique named NPCs. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:56, February 3, 2014 (UTC)
You can go to Fallout 3 now. Make some agreements with Paladin who does what, ok? You can find instructions on Paladin's page. It's a bit different compared to FNV, so we need a complete export to be safe and leave the bot rewrite parameter blank because I'm not sure about the right coding. I'm signing off for today. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:30, February 4, 2014 (UTC)
You can do the FNV creatures Theo talked about, but wait with uploading Fallout 3 dialogues, Theo seems to want that. You can create them on your harddisk though. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:12, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

( FNV looks done as I did the add-on character dialogues. So we can move on to Fallout 3. We'll see what Theo has to say tomorrow. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:12, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

I have some questions about one of the dialogue projects. I've been extracting the audios from the GECK and could not find the ones that I am looking for, since lots of the audios have similar names and couldn't find any that included the "Prototype Medic Power Armor" dialogue. While searching on the wiki, I've discovered 5 but I'd like to know where all of them are and I saw that you have changed their original file names. Wikia's forced addition of videoes to the wiki[]

Hello, This is a message to all listed active members of the leadership team, so please accept my apologies if this seems a little impersonal.

As you may be aware, Wikia/Fandom have added a number of videos to pages on the wiki that they have self authored. Although the consensus view so far seems to be that these are not to our standards, I encourage you to view these for yourself and make up your own mind.

You can find a link to all the videos, and a petition I would like you to consider here. If you believe that these videos do not meet our standards, detract from the wiki, and should be removed, I encourage you to vote yes on this petition. You are of course welcome to vote no if you do not believe this is the case.

Thank you for your consideration. Agent c (talk) 21:03, September 7, 2017 (UTC)

Video Negotiated Settlement[]

Thank you very much for your vote on the petition. We have had talks with Wikia/Fandom, and a settlement has been proposed. I encourage you to review it and have your say here. Agent c (talk) 20:33, September 8, 2017 (UTC)

Video Forums[]

Thank you for participating in the video forums so far.

In order to work out where to go from here, I've created another forum asking the community where our "Red line" is, and whether or not I should continue to be the point person on this.

You can find the new forum here. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this matter. Agent c (talk) 16:14, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

All Hands Meeting[]

Okay, I think its clear that going ahead with a meeting is a good idea. At this stage I would like to open the floor to agenda items. We have the following things to discuss.

  • An update on any negotiations, and other actions
  • Possible action to progress our case further whilst staying on network
  • Possible engagement with Wikia on video in line with the proposed deal- if we should participate and whom that contact person should be.
  • Possible alternatives if the situation cannot be resolved.

Please let me know if you want anything added to the agenda here

I'll be asking a number of people to speak on certain issues, but as always there will be plenty of room for discussion.

I propose that the meeting be held at 3pm North American Eastern Time on Sunday 24 September, this should be 8pm in London, 9pm Central European time, and Midday North American Western. If there are any objections please note them below and we'll look into alternative scheduling, the more objections the harder we look for a new time.

We have arranged facilities for the meeting, it will be held online. It is open to all persons who have participated in any of the video discussion threads up to today, except those employed by Fandom/Wikia inc (as this is the Community's meeting), or have been employed by them in the recent past.

Votes taken in this meeting will be taken as consensus view of the wiki, so everyone is encouraged to attend.

We have setup a discord server (Nukapedia's Fallout Shelter) located here. It is mobile friendly (via an app) and is very flexible.

Although everyone is welcome in our social space (The-Common-Room), only persons who meet the above criteria will be admitted to The-Town-Hall (where the meeting will be located). You may be asked to verify your account before this access is granted. Agent c (talk) 21:53, September 11, 2017 (UTC)

Nukapedia and Fandom/Wikia talks[]

Hi,

Apologies for the impersonal nature of this message, as I'm relaying the same thing to admins and people who have previously expressed a view on featured video. Forgive me if I tell you some things you already know.

We have a call scheduled with Wikia this Friday. We need your input - and the input from as many others as possible. We're hoping to settle once and for all what our relationship is, if it can be salvaged, and what the future should be, as until we settle these featured video can't be settled.

Please, have a look at this forum and tell us what you think.

In addition to looking at our own future hosting option, we've also been in talks with other hosts. Included in these is Gamepedia/Curse. We have an ongoing dialogue with them, and if you have any questions about a possible unification to the vault, please do let me know and I'll relay any similar response we've had, and if your question is a first, I'll ask the question.

Our relationship with Wikia[]

Hi, You’ve previously expressed an opinion on whether we should remain with Wikia, and the Featured Video Situation. Its really important we hear from you again about what we should do about it. Please participate in the vote here. Agent c (talk) 13:12, August 11, 2018 (UTC)

Exodus vote[]

I'm not going to lie, I don't really understand your vote on the exodus forum. You say that you agree with Jspoel, but your priorities have option B ahead of E, which basically means you're voting against him. Then again, maybe I'm just taking this vote too seriously. Call to Action[]

There have been quite a few sweeping changes to the wiki lately, and now that the Unified Community Platform has come to fruition here, it's more important than ever for our leadership to get together and inspire innovative changes for the next generation of wiki editors/readers.

As someone who is somewhat inactive myself, I understand how life gets in the way, and I'll fully understand if many of you are unable to commit, but I'd still like to try my best to appeal to you all in getting involved in a few of our currently active projects; especially so since rights-users participating in our discussions/votes are at an all-time low, and many internal decisions are having to be made between a select few users, which is bad for building consensus on important matters.

As such, I would like to ask for you all to look into two of our most important projects right now, as it would mean a lot to me and the wiki if as many people as possible got directly involved in helping shape our future:

  1. The Vault Academy is a program for the training and acclimation of new and even veteran users, training them on how to get involved in the various facets of the wiki, as well as helping them build bonds with their fellow users. The program has kicked off in a big way, and we are in desperate need of more rights-users to sign on as mentors, as we're having to share multiple mentees between each mentor. If you're looking to leave your mark on the wiki, then signing onto TVA program will be your way of doing so.
  2. As a minor update, we now have a new plagiarism point of contact. Should you suspect plagiarized content is at play, please get into point with the user FDekker who will be the initial handler of all such cases going forward.
  3. We have an upcoming meeting of the minds coming up on the 20th of this month, and we need people to come forth and pitch their ideas for adapting to the recent UCP changes, and to possibly adopt some of the ideas that our new datamining friends have been pitching to us.

Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope to hear back from you all! Even if it is just some of you dropping by to check the place out and say a quick hello. 寧靜 Fox 14:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
