Thaddeus wielding his pistol
The Colt 6520 10mm autoloading pistol is a highly durable and efficient weapon developed by Colt Firearms prior to the Great War.[3] It proved to be resistant to the extreme conditions of the wasteland and is a fine example of workmanship and quality construction. Its simple design allows it to be easily manufactured with relatively basic equipment, making reproduction possible in workshops across the post-nuclear world. The Colt 6520's reliability and accessibility makes it very popular among wasteland denizens, for who sophisticated, high-maintenance weapons would be a liability to survival.[4]
It appears to be a standard handgun of the non-power armored soldiers of the Brotherhood of Steel chapter operating from a pre-War Air Force base, with armored knights using a T60 pistol instead.

Another Colt 6520 pistol is carried by Thaddeus. He points it at the snake oil salesman while the latter peruses his collection of drugs. Later, he uses it ineffectively when shooting at Maximus at the KPSS radio station.

Lucy with the pistol
Multiple Brotherhood soldiers are seen carrying this gun during the Battle of Griffith Observatory.
During the episode's climax, Lucy takes Maximus's 10mm pistol and holds her father Hank at gunpoint. Eventually, she uses it for the mercy killing of her mother Rose, who had turned into a feral ghoul.
Behind the scenes[]
This pistol is based closely on the version originally appearing in Fallout and Fallout 2 video games, in turn, based on a gun seen in the comic book Hard Boiled with art by Geofrey Darrow.

It is a single shot weapon only, meaning that every time you pull the trigger, you will fire one, and only one, round of ammunition. The 6520 has no problem feeding hollowpoint ammunition for small game hunting, or armor piercing rounds for larger, bipedal game."
