In "The Radio," a crossbow is one of the various traps set up outside of DJ Carl's radio station as a way to deter Critics from trespassing there. When Lucy MacLean and Maximus arrive at the station, hoping to retrieve the head. Thaddeus tries to shoot them, but misses every shot; he then backs into a tripwire, activating the hidden crossbow to fire a bolt into his neck. However, to everyone's surprise, the bolt that shot into Thaddeus' neck didn't kill him, and Maximus stated that Thaddeus may have become a ghoul.
