Daughter of Snakes 2: This is the hundred and fifty-first chapter of Volume 3 of Tower of God. It follows the The Serpent Master as he tells his story to Baam, with Androssi and Lilial eavesdropping. A conflict of words occur and the Serpent Master leaves, with him being found by Shilial who also tries to get a marriage agreement with Baam.
Synopsis[]
Androssi Zahard and Lo Po Bia Lilial Zahard go back to the Banquet Hall and see the corpse of a blonde man with blue shoes, though Androssi suspect that it is Lo Po Bia Ren they are not certain who it is so they decide to investigate further. They move towards the corpse, when parts of the leech speaks to the princess, telling them that he is Lo Po Bia Ren and Baam defeated him, which shocks Lilial since Ren is part of Zahard's Personal Guards. Androssi threaten to kill Ren, which scares Ren into negotiating for his life, since he is Ranker, Scout, and Anima he can track Twenty-Fifth Baam better than the two Princesses of Zahard. Ren admits that Baam would be a valuable asset in the upcoming war and endorses his marriage to Lilial, which angers Androssi causing her threaten his life again, but she holds back as long as he helps them find Baam.
Meanwhile, Baam is talking with The Serpent Master, with the Serpent Master explaining his origin and relation to Lilial and Lo Po Bia Laura. The Serpent Master is Thread Snake, which is kind of snake that live forever by dividing and molting every year and when they have divided themselves for thousands of years they become a mass of snake strands. Those that eat part of a thread snake can obtain its power, though most die from the snake's poison certain chosen ones can become stronger just by eating a few of the snake strands, which makes thread snakes valueable and they get hunted down despite the risk. The hunters forced thread snakes into the dark corners of the tower, with the Serpent Master being born in a muddy field without anyone knowing and lived for thousands of years, which made him especially valuable. Lo Po Bia Traumerei eventually found him and placed him into the The Dark Tank where he divided by himself for an enternity before Laura on day came to him crying while asking for a favor, which was to make her unborn daughter stronger inside her womb. Laura was asking for this favor due to her family being at risk if Lilial did not become a princess, but the Serpent Master had never seen a human woman before and he was uncertain of what to do. However, Laura felt warm to his touch and she stirred some feelings within the Serpent Master, so it told Laura to return within 10 days and if she felt that she could love him then she should return to him. Laura returned to him and the Serpent Master decided to protect Laura and her child forever, since Lilial is his daughter. Baam is surprised to hear this story, but finds it strange since it seem that the Serpent Master does not know about Lilial's twin sister Lo Po Bia Shilial Zahard.
Earlier, Androssi and Lilial is guided towards Baam by Ren in its leech form and they arrive by the door leading to Baam at the same time as the Serpent Master tells Baam about his relation to Laura and that he considers Lilial to be his daughter. The Serpent Master continues telling his story to Baam with Androssi and Lilial eavesdropping, Laura came back to the Serpent Master a few years later and told him that Lilial was born normally, so the Serpent Master tore of part of himself and sent them to Laura every single day. Laura stopped coming to him and he heard that Lilial was chosen ass a princess of Zahard, which leads Baam to ask him why he sacrificed himself like that, with the Serpent Master answering that Lilial is his daughter and he would do anything for his daughter. Lilial feels insulted by the Serpent Master's words and calls him a sneaky lying snake, since she is daughter of Traumerei and inherited his blood and was strong enough without any help from the likes of the Serpent Master, which is something she has based her entire life around. Lilial tells Baam to kill the Serpent Master and she will even agree to marrying him, but this causes the Serpent Master to be upset and it splits into individual snakes and slither away with Baam running after him. Lilial stands firm looking down with darkness covering her eyes as the Serpent Master and Baam goes past her, but Baam is not able to keep up with the Serpent Master and asks Lilial for help calming him down and getting him to stop running away. Lilial refuses, as she ask why she should help a delusional Shinheuh and that she is sick of the Marriage Tournament, the Serpent Master, and she wants to give up on all of it. After the outburst from Lilail, she gets a message on her Pocket from someone within the Viridis Parus Hotel, so Lilial starts running to see who it is, though she believe it to be Shilial that sent the message. Baam and Androssi follow after Lilial as they run in the direction of the Serpent Master and the mysterious individual.
The Serpent Master flies through the corridor bursting open all the doors along the way, but a mysterious person walks out from one of the room ahead in the path of the rampaging snakes, who is revealed to be Shilial and she introduces herself to the Serpent Master who she calls parent alongside Laura. The snakes split apart avoiding Shilial that stand in their path before asking Shilial what she means that she is his daughter, which Shilial explains to him that she and Lilial are twins and that she had enough strength at birth that she did not need any help, so in Shilial's mind she is more like his daughter than Lilial. Lilial catches up to where Shilial is and asks her why she is here, which Shilial responds by calling Lilial weak for not taking the opportunity of being Laura's daughter to take control of the Serpent Master and that she always envied Lilial for being Laura's favorite. Baam and Androssi also catch up to the others, which leads Shilial introduce herself to Baam, the "man she is supposed to marry", and she goes on a monologue about Traumerei's reasons for using the Serpent Master and the consequence of not suceeding. The monologue leads up to Shilial extending her hand and asking for an agreement to marry with Baam, which Baam refuses, leading to Shilial asking "...Are you an eunuch or a woman?"[1].
