Julia And Alice Thompson[]

Enrico has 2 daugthers and they are twins one is Alice Thompson and the other is Julia thompson. Just wanted to let you know that.

Thanks, I went running around the Institute taking photos of everyone I could find and somehow managed to miss Julia. I'll go get a photo unless you beat me to it. --Xernoc (talk) 00:30, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

Institute characters[]

Just wanted to give you a heads-up on the outstanding work on the Institute characters! Keep it up! - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 00:36, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

Brother Thomas[]

I made them redirects. Disavantage is they won't show up in a search though. Great work on the Fallout 4 characters by the way. Has cost you a lot of time, but it's been worth the effort. You will know this important page has been primarily done by you for millions to see. Keep up the good work. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:34, December 17, 2015 (UTC)

Added content[]

Thanks for all your work, wanted to say that from the brass. You're adding a lot of good content in various departments and spending a lot of time on it I'm sure. Good to see that kind of dedication! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:14, December 18, 2015 (UTC)

You're noticed al right. Adding a lot of data, and you put it all the good places and formats. Some important pages like the characters look a lot better now and we have you largely to thank for it. Also a lot of images improve the pages a good deal. You make progress here fast with this kind of work. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:29, December 18, 2015 (UTC)
I was wondering, you added some terminal entries. Are you able to get those from the games files and if so, how? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:40, December 18, 2015 (UTC)
Hey thanks! A while back I looked for an Fo4 editor but couldn't find it. Now we can really get some data on the wiki. It can't display images right? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 10:42, December 18, 2015 (UTC)

( You can still click on them in the game the get the refid. I found the holotapes. I couldn't find their transcripts in Fo4 edit. Are they there somewhere? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 11:04, December 18, 2015 (UTC)

Ok, I think I got how it works with the tapes. I'll probably try a few tomorrow. About the NPCs, can you find the ref ids in FO4 edit or do you click on the character in the game? Guess we make a disambiguation page for Kate. Redirect current Kate page to Kate (Fallout: New Vegas). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:44, December 18, 2015 (UTC)

To the Mattresses[]

I've created that page with the help of the link on To the Mattresses Missions. I noticed Johnny was named in one sentence with Scutter which made me believe he was one of the raiders in his gang. I copied the quest Raider Troubles from Scutter's infobox to Johnny's. So that's how I tied him to that quest. Not sure because I'm haven't spent much time at all playing the game because the wiki has much higher priority. So I haven't played any of these quests. I did check the quide btw and it tells there are only 6 targets, and not 7 which could include Johnny. I'm not sure how and where he shows up. Content of To the Mattresses Missions can be checked and useful content can be ported over to To the Mattresses in this case. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:42, December 20, 2015 (UTC)

Ok, I didn't know about his character ID. Maybe you can figure it out. Guide doesn't help, Johnny is not mentioned there. Nice work on the notes and holodisks page, always good to see people work on overview pages and see them completed, these kind of pages are most visited. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:12, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

Images[]

You can find the maintenance categories in Category:Attention required. Images tags are in Category:Image improvement needed and Category:Image needed (Fallout 4). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:23, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

Can you upload the images transparent? They look better that way on pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:22, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
Remove the stuff around it, like the air you're holding it in. Just did a few (a watch). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:14, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
You can use the Magic Wand tool (W in Photoshop). Then you can the adjust tolerancesetting in the menubar and click around the image to remove the air. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:24, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
Looks pretty good to me. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:38, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

Hey I noticed you upload a lot of images for pages so Im hoping maybe you could add the images to Institute bottled water and Institute food packet. --Opifex1 (talk) 02:09, December 23, 2015 (UTC)

Image format[]

Thanks for all those images, you really have been at it today again. A remark about the images though. Can you make the item images in square format? Otherwise they're getting just too large. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:35, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

Or landcape is also good, when the image is more in that format. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:37, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
You're supposed to get a notice in the low right corner. Strange you don't get them. Try asking Wikia, they should know. Good question about the clothing items, I'm thinking about what to do with the character images and clothing images at the moment. If you look at Fo3 and FNV you'll see that they all are in landscape format. With the new infoboxes we have the opportunity for portrait. It has its pros and cons. You can leave those portrait for now, but not beyond the 1 by 2 format, because that makes empty banners appear at the side and we don't want that. for example, the long rags image is beyond that format (408 by 993). Shoud be resized to 408 to 816. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 09:52, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
Where's that Reference tab? I don't see it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 12:46, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
Still don't see it. Can you upload a screenshot where it's visible? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:05, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

( Well, I finally got it, but it took some figuring out. I Build a Reference Info using Other and then that new tab appeared. Very useful it is. Good tool the Fo4Edit indeed. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:24, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

Isn't it bedtime? You've been up all through the night. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:27, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
I'm going to give you patroller rights. You've done so much work here. Consider it a Christmas present, you've earned it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:35, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
Yes, rolling back with one click is one of the features (appears in recent changes behind every edit. But it's also a prerequisite for becoming admin. In two months from now you can apply for it. See Fallout Wiki:Administrators and moderators. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:40, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
Can you keep Nora's head on her shoulders when you take the image? She's pretty to look at it, much much better than a headless piece of clothing. :) Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:21, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

Deletion[]

Ah, I noticed you tagged the pages for deletion. Normally you'd be right those perks do not exist, but it is because they were cut out. ☢ Energy X ☣ 08:10, December 25, 2015 (UTC)

Settlements[]

Don't think there's enough for power counter and similar items to have an own page. It can use a small description though on the overview page. I moved it to there. Think we can treat it the same as the world object page more or less. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:13, December 25, 2015 (UTC)

location page[]

Thanks, the page was pissing me off a little. I think it's much better now, that's my opinion anyway's, but let me know if I screwed up somewhere. Nick3258 (talk) 16:08, December 25, 2015 (UTC)

Cheers for the tip, I was a little disheartened and pissed when I saw what he did after spending all that time organizing it. Nick3258 (talk) 05:44, December 26, 2015 (UTC)

Fallout 4 Consumables[]

Hey you upload great images for things and I was wondering if you could go through the Fallout 4 consumables page and look at each one to see if it had a bad image. Im trying to finish the consumables page and a lot of them have poor images so I don't want to use them.

Brain fungus[]

Brain fungus needs a better image--Opifex1 (talk) 23:05, December 26, 2015 (UTC)

Experimental plant needs a new image. Thx --Opifex1 (talk) 01:04, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks a lot dude, you do amazing work. Ill finish that page later. Wouldn't be possible without your help. --Opifex1 (talk) 01:16, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

Bottlecap[]

Yes, there isn't an image in the Pip-Boy. Place it on the floor and fly as close as you can and then take a screenshot. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:19, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

I've tried it and it can be a little bigger. (appr. 300 by 300px). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:39, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

Icons needed[]

Hey Xernoc! Do you have access to the icons and images for the various quests of the game? I established a a wiki project page to keep track of everything that still needs to be improved on the quest pages. I can take care of a lot of informations, texts and charts but I'm not too much into images. The 'missing icon' category is this one. --YoDsanklai (talk) 18:42, December 27, 2015 (UTC)

It's not that easy. A lot of the quests don't have achievement icons. You'll have to get those (.swf) using a .ba2 extractor. I've done 1 or 2. I open them with an avi program and take a screenshot. Then I play some trickery with the image and that's how I got the War Never Changes icon. It's not color which is a bit of a pity but not too bad. User:Digital Utopia created one in color Liberty Reprimed but I don't know how he did it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:29, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
Better example is Getting a Clue. It doesn't have an achievement icon but it does have a Pip-Boy image/icon for the quest when you have it active (that's the one you see in the infobox now). I can create a better one (without the grey) as you can see on War Never Changes. Using the Game Guide images may also still be an option. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:30, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
I've done Getting a Clue. Better than the one I replaced, right? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:38, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
The image you used isn't good. Too much black. We need similar (transparent) images like you see on Category:Fallout: New Vegas perk images. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:40, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
Every image taken from the Pip-Boy we call icons, I think. The small stuff. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:43, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

( For creating those images you need to some Photoshop skills (creating outlines). Not sure if you have them. Maybe postpone it till tomorrow, then we can talk it over. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:44, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

Your image is too large and you left too much space around. Use my image as an example, you can see much less space there. Size is 500px*about 400px or so. Can you also make the outlining thicker? I used the tool Expand in Photoshop and set it to 5. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:51, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
Maybe first continue with the other images that need replacing... I'm off to bed, it's late here. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 02:54, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for looking into the icons. It seems to be a lot more work than what I thought =/ --YoDsanklai (talk) 06:45, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed your post this night to me with the links to the images. They look good. Best one nr. 3, 4 is too big. Probably a difference between Photoshop and Gimp. But I felt motivated to do these images today. I've doubted for a long time if we should use the game guide images but these look solid too. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:15, December 28, 2015 (UTC)
Sorry I jumped a bit ahead doing these quest icons. Quest stages is a great idea, these would be good to have on the page because people sometimes get stuck in a quest stage and it allows you to fix a quest stage. And the page looks a more complete to see the quest table with all the numbers. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:36, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

Quest stages[]

I see what you mean. Use your best judgment. Generally include main and optional I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:45, December 28, 2015 (UTC)

FO4Edit[]

I've used TES5Edit occasionally, so I know how it works. And now, I didn't know there was an FO4 version, so I think this will greatly help with completing the Wikia. It's definitely going to speed things up!

Honorable mention[]

Hello! The Nukapedian of the Year board has decided to give you an honourable mention in the results of the annual contest. Your work has not gone unnoticed. This massive wiki can only run and be improved through the efforts of users like you, who dedicate large amounts of time to Nukapedia. The image work you do has particularly impressed us, in addition to the sheer volume of high-quality edits you've made since joining us. The release of Fallout 4, while certainly exciting, created a great challenge for the wiki in terms of maintenance and adding content to keep up. You and many others have tackled that challenge head-on, and we thank you. Have a blessed New Year! --Skire (talk) 03:03, January 2, 2016 (UTC)

You can add ballistic weave to a clean black suit, I have sitting in my storage crate. If you don't believe me try it yourself, or I can send you a screenshot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KakashiGerman (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Mhm, my apologies, I just remembered that I bought an armored black suit from a vender, can't remember who, it only has weave 3. Very strange. Sorry for the harsh/rude comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KakashiGerman (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Sanguine / Bloodleaf[]

The exact game translation of 'Bloodleaf' is 'Sanguine' in the French game. I do not know for sure but I can guess the translations in Portuguese, Italian and Spanish are close variations (sanguineo/a, sanguigno/a, sanguino/a...). I am not sure you want to redirect to pages in other languages since the English wiki is 2 centuries ahead of the other ones. --YoDsanklai (talk) 15:28, January 2, 2016 (UTC)

Assault barrel[]

The weapon mod section currently lists the Assault barrel and Improved assault barrel. These pages were added before the release of the game and were likely based on the trailer/teaser shown at the E3. I have not been able to find the (improved) assault barrel for either the plasma gun or the laser gun with the console or with FO4Edit, but this image shows the assault barrel. The description of the mod is the exact same as that of the automatic barrel, and the recipe (as far as it is shown) and the required perk and rank are the exact same as the autoamtic barrel as well. I highly suspect the name of the barrel has been changed between the E3 and the game going gold. Do you think this is enough proof to change the assault barrel and improved assault barrel pages into redirects to automatic barrel and improved automatic barrel, respectively? Give me the word and I'll change it right away.
- FDekker talk 23:55, January 2, 2016 (UTC)

Aye aye, sir. It has been done. Is the navbox updated automatically or do I have to remove them manually?

Quests project[]

I loved it at the start, that's when I added a bunch of tasks to the project (quest stages, icons, walkthroughs...) and then I realized how huge a project it is. Now I'm a bit depressed and I'm afraid to work on it because I can't complete it quickly enough. I need to breakdown some tasks or some parts of the project so it is easier to start and complete some parts of it.

About the quests with the red links, most of the quest names that were on the Fallout 4 quests page were there before I arrived. Most of the quest names are legit and only need us to find the content and fill in, but some quest names were added by people who only read the game guide (not 100% accurate). Some of those redlinks are in fact events, random encounters or old names for other quests. User:DeJuanNOnley observed the same problem on the FO4 quests discussion. I'll put those 'uncertain' quests in a new section on the project page. --YoDsanklai (talk) 02:20, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Type[]

You mean for the quest page? You can see the type options on {{Infobox_quest}}. Though I added a few more that I didn't add to the help doc. When you edit the template you can see them. Only those work to change the header of the infobox. Everything else results in just ...quest. Take a look at for example Synth Retention. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:04, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Ok! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:13, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

XP and xp[]

I've noticed you consistently change the capitalization of XP to lowercase throughout the Wiki. Although I personally prefer the capitalization myself, I'd like to know which is agreed upon as the standard. The Fallout 3 and New Vegas quest pages all use XP in caps, so I was wondering why the Fallout 4 quests are deviating from this. DWEco (talk) 23:58, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Left a response on dweco's page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:03, January 6, 2016 (UTC)

Happy new year![]

I would like to use the Christmas/New Year-wishes-tradition, though I'm a week late, to thank those around me who kept this wiki and daily life more fun for me during the past year. Everything just seems so normal and evident that we are here almost every day, yet it's very worthwhile to consider for a moment how wonderful it is to have people like you around me, making editing and being on chat a lot more enjoyable. I would also like to use this opportunity to wish a happy and healthy new year for you and everyone around you who is dear to you. I hope you'll have a great and healthy new year in which all your wishes may come true! - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 00:07, January 6, 2016 (UTC)

Quest icons[]

When we still had the old infoboxes, those icons were placed at the outer top right part of the infobox image, occupying a few square mm. It's also the place where the location icons were, and which are now below the infobox image. Wikia has promised they will look at that problem when the holidays are over and the storm of "The Force" has died down a bit. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:36, January 7, 2016 (UTC)

Quest categories[]

As you know I've started to change the categories for some quests last night but I stopped my progress at the "Side quests" when Js reminded me it ruins the achievement system. I'll delay the category modification for after Js and I will reach the 1k achievements. Do you want to postpone it further so you have time to get it too? --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 19:41, January 7, 2016 (UTC)

If you want, you're allowed to change the quests in the Fallout 4 side quest category back to Fallout 4 quest category so you have more pages to edit on. But then you should focus your efforts on those pages in the time to come. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:20, January 7, 2016 (UTC)
There's still a couples things to do in my opinion, there's most likely room for your edits if you look for the small ones. --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 20:34, January 7, 2016 (UTC)

Participants section[]

I added this section to the quest project and put your name in it. With this participants section anyone who wants to join the debate and give a hand is welcome, if they don't and want to criticize something once it is built then it will not be our responsibility. I don't want someone to come in a week or two and tell us all most of our modifications should be reverted because we did not consult the community. I'm probably too optimistic but I hope having this section will protect us against people reverting our edits because "we dont respect the old way" or some stuff like this. --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 04:22, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

I added the default images to all the quests that did not have one. For the unmarked ones it could be better to use custom images (like the person who gives the quest, the item-objective of the quest...). Good luck with the walkthroughs, some of them are unreadable. --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 07:38, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, quests that don't have an own icon image are better off having a good ingame image. For example, the ingame image on Here Kitty, Kitty supersedes the generic thumbs up icon. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:22, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

Rewards[]

Don't overdo it. I've added a reward section to Diamond City Blues, you can use that as the example. That's a good enough solution I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:20, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

Quest icons[]

We haven't really decided on a quest image policy. The Fallout 4 quest icons are something we haven't seen in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas and with those games the decision to use an ingame infobox image was rather easy. The Fallout 4 quest icons are a new feature and it turns out they're pretty to serve as an infobox image. I think for now, the quests that have a unique quest icon should have that icon as the main infobox image. Everything else that has a generic (faction) image is allowed to be superseded by an ingame image. It has to be a good one though, but we can monitor that. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:56, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

You have a point I suppose. You feel like creating a forum for it? Question is what should become the standard for Fallout 4 quest images for the various quest types. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:18, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, write it down as a discussion. Perhaps we can come to an agreement without a vote. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 22:30, January 8, 2016 (UTC)

You can have a go at the Fallout 4 stats table template if you feel like it, and otherwise it's best to ask Alfwyn I think. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:51, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

I looked at the sandboxed version, looks good to me. Just a question about xp, the old template auto-calulated those as 10*level if not explicitely specified, is this no longer true or is there another formula? Pages like Feral ghoul document perception too (which is gone in your version), but again not sure if this is factual. Without the GECK it probably needs quite a bit of testing with getting actor values via the console to make sure of that. --Alfwyn (talk) 10:08, January 11, 2016 (UTC)
Guess we can work out those details at a later time then. Currently your version is a big improvement over incorrect xp and damage treshold displayed. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:13, January 11, 2016 (UTC)
Not sure, simply "immune" will work too, but is perhaps a bit long. But it'll be clear. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:36, January 11, 2016 (UTC)

I'll go around and update the various pages to the new format, but I would like to confirm that for Radiation resistance we are using Yes and No symbols.--Opifex1 (talk) 20:40, January 11, 2016 (UTC)

Would you like to join the chat and discuss this in PM? --Opifex1 (talk) 20:57, January 11, 2016 (UTC)

Looks like xp are hard coded, the 3rd short in the ACBS field in the NPC_ record (FO4edit calls it currently "Health Offset"). It may be calculated differently for NPCs that level smoothly with the player (usually named ones), instead of fixed creatures levelled via a levelled list. Will need a bit of testing I suppose. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:37, January 12, 2016 (UTC)

To speed things up with the achievement a bit it's no problem to make several edits on one quest page, for example with quest charts. Those kind of edits already take a lot of time. YoDsanklai and I have reached a 1000 edits by now. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:12, January 12, 2016 (UTC)

Wikia's forced addition of videos to the wiki[]

Hello, I realise you may not have edited the wiki, or even visited us in a while. We do miss you, and I apologise for contacting you with a request for help… but we do need it, and there’s not much you need to do to help us.

As you may be aware, Wikia/Fandom have added a number of videos to pages on the wiki that they have self authored. Although the consensus view so far seems to be that these are not to our standards, I encourage you to view these for yourself and make up your own mind.

You can find a link to all the videos, and a petition I would like you to consider here. If you believe that these videos do not meet our standards, detract from the wiki, and should be removed, I encourage you to vote yes on this petition. You are of course welcome to vote no if you do not believe this is the case.

Thank you for your consideration. Agent c (talk) 21:19, September 7, 2017 (UTC)

Call to Action[]

There have been quite a few sweeping changes to the wiki lately, and now that the Unified Community Platform has come to fruition here, it's more important than ever for our leadership to get together and inspire innovative changes for the next generation of wiki editors/readers.

As someone who is somewhat inactive myself, I understand how life gets in the way, and I'll fully understand if many of you are unable to commit, but I'd still like to try my best to appeal to you all in getting involved in a few of our currently active projects; especially so since rights-users participating in our discussions/votes are at an all-time low, and many internal decisions are having to be made between a select few users, which is bad for building consensus on important matters.

As such, I would like to ask for you all to look into two of our most important projects right now, as it would mean a lot to me and the wiki if as many people as possible got directly involved in helping shape our future:

  1. The Vault Academy is a program for the training and acclimation of new and even veteran users, training them on how to get involved in the various facets of the wiki, as well as helping them build bonds with their fellow users. The program has kicked off in a big way, and we are in desperate need of more rights-users to sign on as mentors, as we're having to share multiple mentees between each mentor. If you're looking to leave your mark on the wiki, then signing onto TVA program will be your way of doing so.
  2. As a minor update, we now have a new plagiarism point of contact. Should you suspect plagiarized content is at play, please get into point with the user FDekker who will be the initial handler of all such cases going forward.
  3. We have an upcoming meeting of the minds coming up on the 20th of this month, and we need people to come forth and pitch their ideas for adapting to the recent UCP changes, and to possibly adopt some of the ideas that our new datamining friends have been pitching to us.

Thanks for your consideration, and I do hope to hear back from you all! Even if it is just some of you dropping by to check the place out and say a quick hello. 寧靜 Fox 14:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
