Re: Armor pages for Fallout Shelter[]

I think that it will make easier to find if somebody is looking for it. I didn't knew about appearence thing in armor and clothing pages but thanks for the advice. I'll leave you to decide if we are going to make a pager for each item like armors and guns. If you wish to continue and you dont have an apple thing to play the game you can get somethings from here.

BTW I talked with gunny about those infobox. I said that we gonna need to build a new one cause is an simple style of statistics for those pages. Fallout Shelter characters[]

Shelter[]

I was just making sure the pages were decapped and only disambiguated when needed. I'm on the fence about individual pages. I'd say make the pages if the content is at least as long as the crappy pages for games like BOS and whatnot if they have their own pages. We should at least be consistent. Site nav[]

You clipped off the canceled games level 2 list from the site nav when you changed it to Fallout Shelter. We need a fix for this. We either go with abbreviations, or add the canceled games to the level 2 "Other games" list. Pick one. The Gunny

I've changed it back for now. Something on Level 2 is too long and that makes it a pain for me to edit, I have to rename it, change it, and then rename it back to avoid the "too many characters" safety. The edit you made to the main intro template seriously screwed up the front page. I changed it to 3 rows, as it's the only way it's gonna display without looking like crap with 9 games/links. If you don't want 3 rows, we're gonna have to change the icons/links again. The Gunny

It did not look good. It was 2 rows with 9 icons. You placed two icons, BOS and canceled games into the same table cell, which screwed up the cell widths, overriding the css. You got to remember that we do not make site appearance changes based off of super wide screen. Default is still 1084px. If you're going to make changes like the site nav and front page/css, you need to make sure it looks ok at that size. Or better yet, ask me to make them and I'll check them in a sandbox or tampermonkey before they're published. Don't forget what Shining said about cached changes. It can take forever for the site to recover for anons. The Gunny

The problem with the Fallout's shelter characters is that they can do what ever you want. I mean that they can go to the wasteland, work in any room of the vault or just go to the living quartes to have some "fun" if you know what I mean. I'm really not sure about how to build this page. Competition Update[]

As was determined in today's meeting, a few changes in my sandbox became necessary, and said changes have now been made. It was also determined that the bureaucrats should read over the changes, making sure that everything is up to Nukapedia's standards, before coming to a collective decision as to whether or not I can bring this competition up for community consideration.

It was proposed to me in the meeting, since my prizes are all Bethesda-related, that I should reach out to Bethesda to see if they are willing to endorse/help cover the costs of some of the prizes, in order to help establish legitimacy and help draw in additional attention. I have already sent a message out, and should they answer, I will be updating all communities involved with this competition immediately.

In the meantime, please take this sandbox into consideration, and get back with me at your earliest convenience (before the 25th would be for the best, since I do have other involved communities to take into consideration). Just an update that I need an answer by tonight/early tomorrow. I have already put off the competition for over 2-weeks, and with the competition spanning over months, with Fallout 4 allegedly coming out in November of this year, I cannot afford to spend too much more of that time waiting around.

If I get approval here, I can afford one more week, in regards to getting a community forum started and a consensus gained. In the case where a consensus can be reached, I can be ready to immediately have Nukapedia involved, and the competition started. Thank you for your time and consideration. Lincoln's Repeater FOS[]

Howdy J, I noticed the image you uploaded for the Lincoln's repeater in Fallout Shelter and I was curious about it, as it isn't a lever action rifle as it was in FO3, but rather appears to be an M1 Garand similar to This Machine. What's up with that? Richie9999 (talk) 20:35, June 21, 2015 (UTC)

I'd argue that Lincoln's Repeater likely uses the same image as the lever action rifle rather than a hunting rifle. It is entirely possible that we are missing weapons, as the game, from one of the screenshots on the Shelter page, has 139 weapons, while we only list 89 on the weapons page. FOS weapons page[]

Why did you move the fat man and variants out of alphabetical order? I could understand if you were trying to line things up by increasing damage, but that's not the case either. Typically, tables like these are arranged in alphabetical order, with variants of the base weapon listed directly beneath. We need to be consistent. The Gunny 20:59, June 21, 2015 (UTC)

It's not about what I like. It's about consistency with the other pages like this. I have not problem if we're gonna list things by base damage or something, but that may make things harder to find in a long list. Alpha is used for that reason, and tables are sortable to find things by specific stats. I'll move them back. The Gunny

The infobox item and ibValue template are working properly since I fixed them earlier. The ibValue template, when nothing is parsed through the value parameters returns a "?". That's the way Theo or 69 or whoever wrote it made the template. They added a @hide function for cases like these. I suppose one of the templates was broken the whole time if there was nothing being returned with empty value parameters like on holodisk pages. As it stands, @hide is going to have to be added for the value parameter on those pages or I'll have to see if I remove the if/else return "?" for the else return leaves the parameter empty and the infobox won't parse the line. I created Howard and Nora because whichever one you don't play as becomes an NPC. We do see Nora's name during character creation, it's in the E3 showcase and the PC didn't get to pick it, Howard is just a placeholder until we find out his name. No. That's just my working space. I've already ported all the info I've found to the weapons page. Only got 2 or 3 more weapons to completely figure out. We are already using the images, are we not? I'll probably do the same thing for clothing and dwellers, which is watch about 1000 lunchbox openings and record the contents. When I get them collated, I'll add to those pages as well. Railway rifle[]

What's your source for the armor piercing railway rifle? I have yet to see the card for one online. I had not added that weapon to the table because I was not certain of that it would be titled "armor piercing". The Gunny 16:39, June 28, 2015 (UTC)

Lol. So they ripped all the content from my sandbox, included something I haven't yet confirmed, and we put it on our page because they did? Trustworthy? We can do better than ripping unconfirmed content from The Vault. I've verified that every other weapon listed is at least in the game. I'm removing it until someone can verify it. There's one more, the laser musket, that I won't put there also, until I actually see the card for myself. As for the highlighting, we use highlighting to show unique weapons. There are no unique weapons in this game. You can get infinite copies of everything. I don't care how it "looks". I care about it being consistent with our other overviews. Highlight means unique. Plasma rifles[]

I'm reverting the changes you made to the damage on the plasma rifles. The two legendary plasma rifles' damage as I had them listed is correct. I know this because I watched 1000s of lunchboxes open and actually saw the in-game cards. I would normally ask you where you got the source for the change, but I already know. You took this from The Vault, too. I saw these cards with my own eyes, and I know for a fact you did not, or you would not have made the change. The only place I've seen the damage listed incorrectly on these weapons is The Vault. I'm going to be very blunt here: Stop it. Just stop. Stop looking at The Vault's content and copying it over here when there's editors here doing this the right way, by doing the research on their own. Just that you would do this disappoints and concerns me greatly. I can't believe I have to go this far, but you can take this as an official warning. Hi, Firelance.: if you are lucky and the Firelance ammo burst is close to the ground and overhead you might be able to see the ammo emerge from a tight cone shape of about 40 degrees from a central spot in the explosion, sometimes aimed downwards,This cone shape accounts for the ground scatter along with the high bounce from some of the cells and their ability to roll 100 yards or so down a slope.The greatest spread I have ever had was at a low spread site at 170 running paces from one end to the other. Redundant Categories[]

To be clear, I don't entirely disagree with you on this issue. There are many marked locations that are not incorporated into subareas like towns or the Washington districts. These locations I am not removing. However, for articles like the Broadcast station there is a specific Radio locations category, this is visible on the main Fallout 3 Categories page, and as we polled in the forums the categories are primarily used for editing navigation purposes. Having to sort through 350+ articles on one page is nightmarish, and unwieldy, even more so on mobile. I will however refrain from removing further articles from the location categories for now, as I would like to discuss this further with other special rights holders, as I feel currently the FO3 and FNV locations categories are far more chaotic and unorganized than 1, 2, and tactics are and I want to discuss reorganizing the system of categorization for these games to make things more efficient and less unwieldy. ---bleep196- (talk) 17:46, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

Well first, this is the policy that everyone agreed on. Second, when would this be an issue? If they're searching for Westside, they will just type it in the search function. What exactly makes you believe that users of the app navigate via categories and not, for example, overview pages and the search function? If people wish to view a list of all new vegas locations/towns we have a page for that. 2) In what way does this re-categorization project complicate the process of finding information on the wiki for mobile users?

I handed the app off to my husband and asked him to find the Silver Rush. Within seconds he was able to navigate to the page using the following path. Fallout New Vegas -> Locations -> Silver Rush. Not once did he have to navigate through categories to get to the information that he wanted.

Now lets say that this has been simplified especially for the app shall we?

I did the same thing and handed him the mobile version of the site and instead asked him to get information on the 10mm pistol from Fallout 3. The following is how he navigated there: Fallout 3 -> Weapons -> 10mm pistol. Again, no need to navigate through categories to find it.

So please, tell me how this re-categorization project actually effects mobile users.

Right now, it doesn't matter what those numbers are. I'll get the actual numbers from Wikia, hopefully including how much of the mobile userbase uses desktop mode to view pages, how many use the crappy app that only a few thousand have for this site (you know, the one that keeps crashing when I try to use it). Regardless of that, we have a policy in place that was just voted on by the community. Frankly I don't care if you don't like it or not. I don't care if you think the users are not intelligent enough to vote correctly (in your view). We follow the policy. 2) It's 3 more click throughs in places that make sense. My husband, a person whom has no knowledge of the wiki or its app, found it right away using just the navigation.

But let's say they simply couldn't find it whether it was too deep or because they simply missed it when scrolling through the list. They could always just hit the little search button and find it within seconds which, unless you also have a statistic saying that users more often than not use the click throughs, is probably how someone would find a specific page.

Dear Jspoel,

You sheer incompetence is quite alarming. You have been on this wiki for years now, from learning how to edit to adjusting to the role of being a brcat. Throughout this time you have hardly been able to do either well enough. While your edits are numerous and the numbers jump put at first glance will make others think you are some god when it comes to the craft known as editing. I am not denying you make the occasional good edit, but overall your edits are great for maintenance purposes, but the edit that requires a thought will always be out of your thinking capacity. I sincerely hope you can add legible content that can actually be read when Fallout 4 comes, if not the rest of us will have to go about fixing your mistakes. A good editor will know his limits and you do not. I've seen you going about trying to edit templates and all that good shit and fail time after time again. While others have to go back and fix your mistakes. Learn your boundaries, it effects the wiki's progress.

Your bcrat abilities are lacking as well. You do not have the communication and human interaction skills to be able to effectively do your job. To put it short, you can't interact with humans half the time if not all the time. You sure can type and look like you can communicate but you can't, and it is rather troublesome for someone who has a huge responsibility such as yourself. Furthermore, I suggest you take a step back and truly try to understand where I am coming from because you desperately need a slap in the face. You have this god complex bullshit that is rather annoying, thinking you know best. Your job is not to question others edits outright, for example Paladin's edit for the year when Fallout 4 takes place. Paladin had his shit sourced and yet you still questioned that. For that, I will tell you to fuck off. I don't know if there is an official policy, but I would think it would be a good idea to include a small number of real world images to compare before:after to if there is a direct link.

I did not enlarge the images. Those were cropped from direct screenshots off my android phone. I'm guessing that the a graphics of Fallout Shelter are just poor if not minimized to fit a phone screen. Agian, I dont have a real computer, I have a chromebook. Chrome OS doesn't have quality image editors. I'm effectively working with mspaint level image editors. Of you have the game you know that those cards rotate left and right and it is impossible to get an image of the card that is not crooked. Weapon/Outfits IDs (Fallout shelter)[]

Hello Jspoelstra, sorry if here is not the right place to do this, but maybe you can help me anyway. Well ... it's more a suggestion that a question. The thing is, how Fallout Shelter has come also to Android, there were a lot of people who managed read the game datas and even hack the Save Games. So for the inclusion of a weapon or outfit in FOS Saves there is necessary to inform the weapon/outfit ID. The ID who is needed to be informed is in text, so the proto parameter don't want handle it. Anyway, my suggestion at all is to add a specific ID Parameter to handle the FOS IDs. Or maybe there is still a parameter, if it is, maybe could you tell me what is the parameter?

Fallout 3 Promotional Items[]

Hi!

I made some changes to the "Fallout 3 Promotional Items" page. I added an item and improved some of the descriptions, titles, and pictures (I am an avid promotional item collector and I also deal with gaming merchandise a lot). Mostly I added the Hardcover Press Edition of the Vault Dwellers Guide, fixed the dififrences between the Version 1 Lunch Box and the CE version and added a pictures showing both, improved the description of the water bottles, and lastly improved the title and description of the Vault-Tec SimTek 1000 Holographic Archive ViewMaster (was called "ViewFinder" accidentally).

I wanted to point something out about that section. The Pip-Boy clock should not be in there as it is a retail item from the collector's edition. Same goes for all the Bobbleheads (except the Version 1 and signed version as those are promotional items... at least the Version 1 is.. not sure if the signed one was anything official and given out or not)... as all the other bobbleheads are retail and no promotional in the sense of the word as we use it (by s super broad definition anything made with a logo on it is promotional, but most make a distinction with retail items not being what we mean by "promotional").

So I suggest the there be a section made for the Collector's Editions (can be for all Fallout games). Same for the Bobbleheads, they should get their own section and be removed from the promotional section as they along with the Pip-Boy CE clock do not belong there (also Bethesda just started making Fallout 4, Vault 111, versions of the Bobbleheads).

I do not know hot to make a new category/page, but if you could make one for "Collector's Editions" and for "Bobbleheads" I could move the info and improve on them as well.

Um, I wanted to added a link to the disambig on every key page. For example, Key (Fallout) would have a link at top of it's page linking to the disambig I linked earlier. I wanted to do that with every article so they link to the Disambig.

Magazines[]

Let us just say there was a video from the stream two days ago to be downloaded, somewhere. That's how I got the info about consumables, weapons, gear, quests etc. Though those magazines are just from the loading screen.

Activiteit[]

Hey, ik ben inderdaad de voorbije tijd minder actief op editingvlak. De oorspronkelijke reden was de toon hier op de wiki die zowat alles wou verwijderen dat niet essentieel was. In die context had ik dan ook geen zin meer om meer pagina's te maken over mentioned-only content, aangezien het zoeken naar materiaal dat we nog niet hebben vrij veel tijd in beslag neemt en vervolgens de kans heeft verwijderd te worden. Dat kwam dan nog eens gepaard met steeds meer en meer werk in real life. Ik dacht dan maar wat de kat uit de boom te kijken tot FO4 uitkomt om dan daar te werken aan essentiële artikels. De laatste week is er al wat materiaal om op de wiki te zetten door de lekken, maar ik ben nu volop bezig met mijn werk en papers zodat ik volgende week meer tijd zal hebben wanneer Fallout 4 dan ook werkelijk speelbaar wordt. Over de activiteit van andere gebruikers maak ik mij ook wat zorgen. Ik denk dat 2/3 keer dat ik in de chat kom er geen enkele andere persoon met mod powers is. Anyway, normaal gezien zal ik volgende week weer actiever zijn qua editing, al kan ik nog geen beloften doen dat dit weken zal aanhouden aangezien eind november-januari normaalgezien een drukkere periode is. Ik zal waarschijnlijk ook vanavond weer met de blogs beginnen. Twitch Stream[]

Hey, J! Hope you have been doing well, and that the recent Fallout 4 leaks have been giving you a ton of extra work to keep busy with.

Anyways, I am here to ask for your blessing over a streaming event that I am about to host. I have forgotten to play offline on Steam lately, so the cat is already out of the bag, in regards to the fact that I have an early copy of Fallout 4, and have been playing it extensively. Unfortunately, this means that I am under the iron foot of the Bethesda information embargo, and the NDA that I agreed to has barred me from releasing any information about Fallout 4 (I cannot even edit established articles over leaked information).

Now, the good news about this, is that I have permission to stream the game on the 9th (as well as release information), which is much earlier than 99% of anyone else who bought Fallout 4 will be able to see of its gameplay outside of the trailers/leaks.

So, I will be hosting a dedicated Fallout 4 stream come the 9th. Obviously. ;) So what I am asking for, is your blessing in starting a blog on Nukapedia come the 9th, linking to my Twitch channel. But, before you ask, I will not be embedding my channel on Nukapedia, as I am still not ready to do such favours for Nukapedia after the fiasco that was instigated upon my attempts to bring the Fallout 4 competition here. The Vault will need to see Nukapedia willing to reach out as we did, before we even entertain that thought any further.

I just figured this would be a good chance to refer the community here towards a confirmed channel that will be hosting early Fallout 4 content. Nothing more, and nothing less. No personal ads, no subscription offered or needed, no donation flags all over my channel, no advertising the competition or anything else other than my channel, and my channel can easily be seen to just be a piddly one with a few followers that I use to stream a few walkthrough videos, so you can rest assured that I am not doing this for any financial/professional gain.

The location pages have been added - all of them we know of. Though I would rather move some pages, for I doubt they have been capped properly.

I guess it is true Wikia has also some interest in this. Wish there was another way to handle the problem, for it may let the current readers be more interested.

Page width[]

I'm not opposed to changing the page width, as long as it doesn't mess with anything Wikia has done for mobile etc. We've come a long way to improve that experience and I don't want to see us move to something that is better for desktop but not as good for mobile. I just simply reduce the page size in my browser to 90%. Is there any way to run it by someone at Wikia to make sure it won't mess with anything? The Gunny 00:32, November 10, 2015 (UTC)
