Dr. Mobius' glove is a unique weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Background[]

A chemical glove that previously belonged to the human who became Doctor Mobius, left stored in the Dome section of the X-42 robo-warfare facility after the scientist underwent the extraction of his brain to place it in a think tank chassis.

Characteristics[]

Unlike other scientist glove variants except for Dr. Klein's glove, Dr. Mobius' glove has two unique secondary effects instead of one: the regular strike effect, titled "MADNESS!!!", inflicts a -5 reduction to the target's Energy Weapons skill and a -2 reduction to the target's Perception attribute for 30 seconds. The Critical Hit effect, titled "Mad Science Attack!", inflicts a "knockback" and "frenzy" effect on the target, causing them to launch away from the player character and then attack other enemies in the vicinity when they stand up, if the Critical Hit did not kill them. It also has a unique cosmetic effect of emitting a small electronic pulse upon impact.

Compared to the standard scientist glove, Dr. Mobius' glove inflicts a higher amount of damage per strike, the second-highest of all its variants (below Dr. Klein's glove). at a similar attack speed. Like all scientist glove variants, it inflicts the third-lowest amount of critical hit damage of all unarmed weapons, at a 2x critical chance multiplier, the highest of all its variants. It has the lowest AP cost of both all its variants and of all unarmed weapons, a low-end weight, and the highest caps value of all its variants, but also has low-end durability. Like all scientist glove variants, it is considered an improved holdout weapon. It requires a 35 Unarmed skill level and 2 Strength attribute level to use effectively.

Visually, the weapon is similar in appearance to the standard variant, except for having a charcoal-black color instead of teal-blue. It also has a skull icon situated in the middle of the hexagonal shape on the back of the hand.

Location[]

The weapon is located in the dome of the Forbidden Zone where Doctor Mobius resides, found lying on a table immediately to the left of the stairs leading up to the Brain Tank.

Notes[]

  • The weapon's cosmetic electromagnetic pulse effect is similar to that of firing the LAER.
  • If a Critical Hit with the weapon succeeds against a companion and then they are dismissed, it may cause the frenzy effect to initiate upon their arrival at the designated location, leading to them attacking and potentially kill nearby NPCs if any are nearby.
  • Equipping the weapon along with Dr. Mobius' glasses and Dr. Mobius' scrubs will complete the Mobius Strip challenge.
