...8's sonic-soundwave-emitter-projecto-gun, able to broadcast sound at lethal frequencies. It also gives a great biogel massage.Doctor Dala

The sonic emitter - revelation is a weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Characteristics[]

An energy-based pistol that weaponizes soundwaves to produce projectiles that inflict bonus damage against robots and power armor wearers. This variant of the weapon specifically inflicts a unique "critical strike paralysis" effect, temporarily knocking down smaller robots (such as protectrons and cyberdogs), rooting larger robots, and paralyzing non-robotic targets.

The sonic emitter's oscilloscope takes on a blue color when this audio file is uploaded. It is considered an improved holdout weapon.

Durability[]

The sonic emitter - revelation can fire a total of about 495 times using standard cells, the equivalent of 21 reloads, from full condition before breaking.

Notes[]

  • As a one-handed Energy Weapon, the sonic emitter is affected by The Professional perk.
  • The sonic emitter has a limited range. V.A.T.S. will not reflect this and may show good odds of hitting a target even when the target is out of range.
  • Unlike the other sonic emitter variants, the "Revelation" variant does not need the installation of the Jukebox's personality module to be acquired as it is received during a quest and can be repeatedly purchased if the old one is lost.
  • While using a Stealth Boy, the oscilloscope stays visible. However, the radiant light does not affect sneaking, like most weapons/armor that have the same exterior glow.
  • All cyberdogs are affected by the additional EMP damage done by this weapon.
  • The weapon's ability to paralyze a target for 10 seconds on a Critical Hit is similar to the Compliance Regulator Honest Hearts. However a major difference with this is that the Compliance Regulator Honest Hearts is a laser-weapon which means that it does not have the issue of being dodged nor does it have the same issue with charge up times. Whilst the sonic emitter has a charge up time, and the projectile takes a moderate time to travel allowing enemies the possibility to dodge.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC When using alternate cell types (Optimized, etc.), it may be unable to break forcefields. Simply changing to standard energy cells will fix this. [verified]
  • PCPC Within the third-person view, if the emitter is holstered, the wave on the oscilloscope will remain 'frozen'. It will begin functioning correctly only if the weapon has been drawn. [verified]
