Jackass is a member of the android Resistance against the machines on Earth in NieR:Automata.
Appearance[]
Jackass is a female android with black eyes and short, deep-gray hair that hangs over her right eye. She wears a baggy tan shirt with green camouflage pants, black gloves and boots, a brown hooded cloak with a tattered green scarf, and has a thigh bag strapped to her left leg.
In Episode 8 of NieR:Automata Ver1.1a, Jackass wears a red bikini while fishing in the Flooded City, while still donning her gloves, boots, scarf, and thigh bag.
Story[]
At some point in the past, Jackass met Commander White from YoRHa and became acquainted with her.
If 2B and 9S meet her before meeting Anemone at the Resistance Camp, she will tell them that dangerous things have been happening in the Desert Zone lately.
After meeting Anemone and heading to the Desert Zone, they find Jackass at the barrier close to the larger portion of the area as she introduces herself to them. Following this, she uses dynamite to destroy the barrier in order to allow them to go through while warning them not to try and be a a hero. After they deal with the birth of the Machines Adam and Eve, Jackass congratulates them both for their work.
During the sidequest Jackass's Research, Jackass asks for help from 2B and 9S so she could get more combat data on androids and the effects battling has on them. After her research is completed, Jackass created the E-Drug based on the results she got.
Later, Jackass will mail a message to 2B and 9S telling them she has a Mackerel and that she wants to test it's effects on androids and see if it does kill them after consumption. After she gives them the fish, she tells them not to blame them if it kills them. Eating either this mackerel or one caught by fishing will cause joke ending "K" to occur.
Following the destruction of YoRHa and the Bunker, Jackass mourns the death of Commander White.
Following the destruction of the Machine Tower and the truth about both Humanity being extinct following Project Gestalt failing and YoRHa's true purpose being to help complete that lie, Jackass writes a report regarding her feelings on the matter and how she swears to hunt down every remaining Android behind the plan and kill them herself.

- If you haven't caught a Mackerel through fishing before receiving the one Jackass gives you, you will not get its fishing encyclopedia entry by doing so.
- According to the Black Box Edition Artbook, Jackass was reported to Commander White for combining two separate androids into a single unit.
