Grimoire NieR: Revised Edition is a book that serves as both a strategy guide and world guide for NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., appending the original Grimoire NieR.

The Japanese version was released on July 9th, 2021, while an English translation was released on August 29th, 2023.

Features[]

The book features illustrations and images, character profiles and concept designs, story digests with screen caps, play-by-play guides, weapons, short stories, interviews, and more.

Changes[]

  • Updated title as well as new outer and inner cover artwork.
  • The Visual Works section now precedes the table of contents and instead features new key art produced for ver.1.22..., with the original key art shifted to the Concept Art & More section of the book.
  • All character illustrations are replaced with the new ver.1.22... versions, with the original art and CG renders shifted to the Concept Art & More section of the book. All of the screenshots are likewise replaced with screenshots from ver.1.22..., with most shots featuring the same scenes.
  • The table of contents includes a brief explanation of the revised guide and the removal of most references to NieR Gestalt, noting that apart from Nier being Yonah's father rather than brother, the content of the story is largely unchanged compared to Replicant.
  • Sections concerning content from NieR Gestalt are presented with white text on a black background.
  • Father Nier has been moved from the Character Guide to the Concept Art & More section of the book, and Louise and the Twins have been added.
  • The brief Gestalt side summaries featured in the original version of the NieR Playback sections have been removed.
  • The Little Mermaid and The Lost World have been added to the NieR Playback section.
  • All sections concerning gameplay are updated to reflect ver.1.22... updates and additions, with the section dedicated to downloadable content replaced with sections for 15 Nightmares and Kainé's gameplay mechanics.
  • The Concept Art & More section is updated to include location, character, and magic effects concept art for ver.1.22..., with new and expanded sections collecting the key art, character illustrations, and CG renders from the original release. A new section also includes artwork produced for the game's Playstation 4 themes and avatars, as well as artwork for trophies/achievements and the #NieRArtGallery online exhibit.
  • The Weapon Stories section is updated to include new weapons appearing in ver.1.22..., and a new section is added that includes the diary entries and reports from ver.1.22....
  • A new roundtable Interview with the Creators concerning the development of ver.1.22... is included, as well as a section for questionnaire responses from staff members collected for the game's 11th anniversary.
