Typical Character Story appearance
Character Stories are a type of story in NieR Reincarnation. They are obtained by acquiring certain Character Ranks and beating the unlocked Character Quests.[1][2]
Characteristics[]
Each summon character has four Character Stories. After obtaining a character and increasing their Character Rank by clearing quests with them, a Character Quest is unlocked at each new rank.[2][3] Completing every third Character Quest unlocks a Character Story which is then automatically played (i.e., after Quests 1, 4, 7, and 10).[1]
Similar to Dark Scarecrows in the Main Story, Character Stories are in an interactive "storybook" format in which the playable character is moved in a 2D environment.[1] Character stories notably have a stylistic scanline overlay and typically have a particular color. Specific Black Birds must be found within the scene and tapped in order to progress the story.[Note 1] When a Black Bird is tapped, the view becomes black and white as the story text appears.[Note 2]
