A proposition...[]

I've read quite a few of your critique entries, and was wondering if you'd be interested in getting involved with any of the Fallout debate and discussion groups some of us have started up on Facebook. It's been difficult finding many people who are willing to get involved, and who're good at writing essays and arguing. If you could submit anything to either of them that would be much appreciated. Or, if we had your permission, would you be alright with us linking to your critique series? It's that kind of thing which I had in mind when I set up the essays page.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/400735746651278/ http://www.facebook.com/FalloutEssays

I'm an admin of the second one, and this guy Edwin Potter runs the first. And I'd love to be have a proper debate with you outside of an edit war - I need more people disagreeing with me on the essays page.

And excuse my poor editing skills, I've had to re-edit this a few times already. I'm learning slowly.

Misuse of Power/Achievement Deletion[]

Hi.

I wanted to contact you personally, you being the Overseer of this whole site, about a chastisement I received from one of your site administrators, Jspoel. I had this quite un-funny message on my talk page for a day (http://fallout.wikia.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Yliannos&oldid=1219636) and apparently Jspoel thought I had "insulted other editors", and rewarded me with a 24-hour block of communications on this site.

This leaves me at a rather confused state; how does a site administrator punish a recently joined member of this site for such a pity delict of code of conduct. I fully understand the nature of what I did was somewhat wrong, but judging the message was NOT directed at anyone at all - and it was on my page all along - I'd say the punishment doesn't fit the crime. I would have surely complied shoud the dear administrator have just contacted me and advised me not to keep such things on my talk page. Are we talking about an administrator misjudgement of authority, a bad day for Jspoel or just so he could get an achievement/trophy/pat in the back for some penalizing-quota?

Speaking of achievements, my opinion of such rewards on objective information and fan-based sites like this has been skeptic at best. I think achievements, such as "X amount of edits in a day" cause an enormous amount of unnecessary "contributions", such as changing of grammar to replace an adverb or something instead of adding of useful information. I think what you have tried to gain by creating this whole achievement based points-system was more activity on the wiki, but to be frank, I think it's a twin-tipped sword and will cause more harm than gain in the long run. That is to say, what I'm suggesting is a removal of such an uncesessary point-structure, since it might lead to misuse of adminstratorship - such as creating achievements purely for rewarding yourself with points. Again, this kind of situation could potentially lead to more devastating effects, such as the Vault turning into an achievement whoring site, with points being to whole point of the existence of an account instead of contributing to Fallout-based information. Which would indeed kill the whole idea of wiki in itself.

With all due respect and no amount of asskissing, I feel somewhat controversial about the Vault because of my experiences - being a huge Fallout fan -, but then again I see all this potential. Vault has provided me with information otherwise unobitainable throughout the years and I hope it will keep doing that.

Peace and most importantly love,

--Everybody dies. 16:32, July 14, 2011 (UTC)Yliannos

Yliannos[]

I see Yliannos decided to send you a post about the block I gave him, appearantly seeing you as the site's overseer as he calls it. And you decided to forward his post to Ausir, which has annoyed me quite a bit. I really think for such a minor disagreement involving another user, you could have (and should have I think) contacted me first about it, before going to a bureaucrat. We could have come to a solution. You have not made friends with me with this move. Just wanted to let you know how I feel about this. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy 00:13, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

Enclave[]

Hello my friend ;)

Someone (Outcast77) was not agreed with you on the Enclave page and although I asked him to send you the same message that he send me, he didn't. I saw that you are currently on the Vault so I wanted to tell you this, take a look of my talk page to see these motivation and my answers on his own.

Since it was you who wrote the text, I think it is you who has the best arguments to defend your opinion. Have a nice day my friend and see you soon =)! Itachou [~talk~] 13:00, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

K9000[]

Cyberdog is a dog has been modified robotically but keeping some of their organic part.

Here, it's a cyberdog brain put in a "weapon" and like you say "it's a brain connected to a machine", so from the Fallout definition of a brain bot, it's a brain bot and not a cyberdog. This why it is called "K9000 cyberdog gun" and not just "K9000 cyberdog". Itachou [~talk~] 21:48, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

I don't agree. Cyberdog it's because it look like a "dog" otherwise the name cyberdog have no longer interest. Thin thanks are brain bot and they are not qualify as "cyberhuman", not like Cross for exemple.
Here, I can't see any robotically part, just a machine created like a weapon with a brain that does function for the weapon. It's not even a living being, just a machine obeying the user with no opinion.
For the name cyberdog, it's because the brain was improve cybernetically for the need of the weapon that all, I don't think a normal dog brain can help you in combat. Itachou [~talk~] 22:11, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Well I just get the K9000, it's true it has a canine behavior but that all, its appearance and its principle contradict the mentions of cyberdog in FO2 by Dr. Schreber and Dr. Henry feeling that cyberdogs are a dog enhanced cybernetically, and the Fallout 2 official guide mentionning about Robodog that a cyberdog is a synthetic canine.

Changed the text for "a kind of cyberdog with a cyber canine brain put into a mechanical body built like a heavy weapon, the brain floating in a jar under the weapon's barrel." it's the best solution I think. What do you think my friend?

Also, I think we will put it in the variations section in the cyberdog page (infobox and variant section) right? Itachou [~talk~] 23:30, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

All right, I take care of the cyberdog page ;), nice writing for the K9000 page, pretty singular text. Ho also, nice post in NMA for the old old Fallout art, very nice to see some kind of artifact still exists today =)! Nice evening and see you soon Mikael! Itachou [~talk~] 23:52, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Quick question[]

The whole anarchist theme you have, I like the armour by the way, but I was wondering if you are a political anarchist or not? So, as in dissolving governments and letting people help each other because they want to. Just curious. I'm not by the way, but I have read on the subject. Don't feel you have to answer of course, I'm not trying to be rude. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 21:09, July 24, 2011 (UTC).

That's interesting. I like to read about different philosophies: religious, political and structural. I think that this is infinitly interesting and when I saw that I just though I'd ask. Thanks for replying too. Someone has to know the real ideologies behind these things, rather than thinking that they should torch this and cause riots in the name of 'anarchism'. Big MT[]

Hello my friend =)

Please don't remove what you want in the Big MT page. Agree for now for Borous and 2003 in Big MT, but Klein clearly say it's the admin of the facility, like all other think thanks that they are a head of each section (otherwise why they have the choice to become a think thank and immortal and not the other if they are not special in the hierarchy).

And Big MT it's not a special page, don't need the "(usually written Big MT)", just "Big MT" is sufficient to itself. Also, their technology was not used by the Enclave (no holograms, no cyberdog gun, no Saturnite etc.), it is important to indicate in the page and to clearly show they are sometimes over there in some technological fields. Also, I don't think they created cyberdog, just improved the technology already in place - they have only cyberhounds Mk III (Military and Police model), but not Mk II like Robodog and Mk III law enforcement officer model like Rex (use in city, so not a military project or something). Also, it's the "only" technology use by the Enclave that also use by Big MT, so the technology was already in place. Itachou [~talk~] 11:04, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

  1. I didn't say it was superior to the Enclave, just in certain technological fields they are superior to the Enclave. I have never seen more than two cyberdog (Robodog, K-9) belonging of the Enclave (when they are many in Big MT), no holograms, no cyberdog gun, no teleportation technology etc. I agree that the Enclave has in certain fields a high technology but the Big MT excel them in some other fields.
  1. Yes for the Big MT's head but we just have to point out that these are their names after the Great War (and Borous was named Gail Richardson).
  1. Even if it's not elaborated in-game, "Think Tank Project" seems to still be in place since as I said, why everyone did not was became a think thank?
Agree for a "research projects" section =). Haha I like your title "Again?", you know that we are here to share ideas my friend, we will have much debates later is sure ;). Also, I think you will still have to wait a little time to make such a background section, OWB is not even been out for one week is a bit of spoils, would have to wait 2-3 weeks was more appropriate in my opinion. I take a look of your edit in Big MT, see you later! Itachou [~talk~] 12:56, July 25, 2011 (UTC
Let me be clear. You act like a kid who wants everything to be as he wants without thinking of others. Why change the page just to remove some sentences and put "your sentences", sometimes wrong and failing to explain all the details, not listening to me or listen to others.
You also block some pages just because some people don't agree with you (Enclave, Mercy). You have 23 years, it's time to grow. We talk, we come to an agreement, but for you in fact not, you change as a childish kid that things that don't pass as he had expected. Itachou [~talk~] 13:58, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Pure speculation and Big MT surpassing the Enclave in some fields is highly subjective? Have you seen any holograms, teleportation technology, more than 15 cyberdogs in any Enclave outpost like Enclave Oil Rig or Raven Rock? And please, don't said me that the cyberdog model doesn't exist in Fallout 2 since you known it exist and the developers could easily put them into enemies on the Enclave Oil Rig.

Cyberdogs remains a rare technology for the Enclave (even if they have "canine neuroscientist" - a rank that you have invented since it doesn't exist in the game file and dialogue - anyway, well, just two kind of that have be seen), more concerned about deathclaw as can be seen in-games (FO2-FO3) and so Big MT is more advanced than the Enclave in that (like holograms etc.). All my reference is seen in the game - you, you just speculated for things that doesn't show in-game.

I respect you for some aspect, but on the other shows you have a deplorable behavior and don't respect other people. I also sometimes take three hours on pages (take a look of the history of Cyberdog, Gecko (creature), Primitive Tribe, Tribals, Vault 13, Vault 101, Human if you want) and it's not a reason that I use only my sentences and I don't listen to what people and the community want.

The childish kid behavior I described above (that you don't recognise and you didn't tell me why) is that sometimes you block certain page (Enclave, Mercy) just because some people don't agree with you. It is not tolerated and honestly you should be banned or something like that for this kind of unacceptable behavior (why do you do that? Did you give me an answer other than "I want to keep things like that because it is me that write, I'm always right and I don't respect people, especially those who are not admin"). Can you give me an answer? Itachou [~talk~] 17:56, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Stealth suit Mk II[]

Why you remove the real name "X-13 cardiac regulator sneak suit" of Stealth suit Mk II since IT'S MARKED IN THE ACHIEVEMENT Cardiac Arrest! (released before the game) AND IN THE OLD WORLD BLUES PAGE? Can I have a good reason from you?

It's an obligatory practise to include the real name and alternative names of the item as per The Vault:Article layout guideline/Item article. Itachou [~talk~] 13:07, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Pre-released achievement with the real name, just the description of the official achievement change but the name is not false. Itachou [~talk~] 13:44, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I'm going to take a little rummage into the game itself, and see if I can find any evidence to the contrary. Seems like the best thing to do now, anyway. Hugs Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 13:56, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I see your point Tag, but the name has to ahve come from somewhere, even if it's outdated. I simply want to know. So I think we should ask a dev on Formspring, as that is usually counted as official info (lots of articles have formspring reference links). That's my proposition, anyway, as that would be an outside mediator, as no one of us wants to budge it seems. P.S. I fixed some grammar in your Big MT edit. Hugs Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 15:09, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, and when I have time I'll ask a dev over Formspring or the like, as to get confirmation. Hugs Scar: "Say 'ello to my little friend!" 15:27, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Call of Pripyat problems[]

My Call of Pripyat is too slow. It takes about 1 to 2 minutes of quicksave loading, while save game loading from the main menu takes about 4 to 5 minutes of loading. Do I need to upgrade my computer graphics or memory in order to fix that? --gauzzrifle 07:56, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Brand names[]

How do you know it is part of the name or simply a description of the contents. To be honest I really don't care, I just want uniformity and since you're the only admin moving or commenting on upper case (most other admins have moved to lower case, or commented on talk pages about it should be lower casing). I am simply following what I feel to be consensus on the matter. But if you are going to move them to upper case, then you need to do it to all i.e. Salisbury Steak etc. and then let me know which ones have changed. Otherwise the rest of the wiki will be in lower case due to the bot being in lower case. Simply changing the page name isn't enough now, as I have posted in the forum about my bot. Big MT Snow globe bug question.[]

Sup Tagaziel. There's a bug in Old World Blues for the Snow globe as described here - when the globe is unreachable. The thing is, I've encountered this bug. There was a 'verify' sign next to it, and I removed it. Do you think I should add a screenshot in the gallery showing how the item could be unreachable? Thanks. -- Yakov 10:57, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Big MT background[]

Hello Mikael =)

Mobius said that they were already reprogrammed to forgot a part of their personality and their name, and having them already a new one (changed later by Mobius). Also, I checked many hours the GECK and take more than 30 screenshot in-game of all interesting dialogue, so if you don't believe me, you can directly look into the GECK or wondering me the screen.

It's not all the researchers was transformed into a think tank but only the "Think Tank" executives (their name, spelled like that can see in some terminals, also with execs). The dome is named The Think Tank because it was the facility of the Big MT "Think Tank" executives.

I re-write and reput some information with the signification and the spelling in-games. Anyway, thanks for the grammar and some interesting re-writing ;). Itachou [~talk~] 21:12, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for not delete information and to have rewritten some with a more comfortable way. Hey my friend don't think that every time I want to fight with you, I just want to be the most accurate as possible and with all information available, even the smaller and more hidden =). However, I think the best would be to put dialogue references for the other person, what do you think? Itachou [~talk~] 12:41, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

Haha I send this message before seen yours ;). No no, no bad feelings of course =)! Itachou [~talk~] 12:43, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you.[]

For your critiques. They've given me a lot of things to think about in regards to my work with Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. I won't go into great detail, but people who evaluate and study the Fallout lore and offer legitimate, well-written and intelligent criticisms are a great thing for a fanfiction writer like me, who strives to make his work as good as possible. Thanks for spending the time on things like this, because it is worth it, even more to people like me. --66.168.77.22 00:23, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Recon armor image[]

I tend to agree with you. While I was doing those recon images, I was doubting what to do with that issue. That's because on the forum page we decided (as far as I remember it) to do the male and female version front side image for the infobox image. Changing that would break consistency. In the end I did decide to add the back image to the gallery on the Recon armor (Fallout 3) and Recon armor (Fallout: New Vegas) page, but not on the Christine's CoS recon armor. But as you state it, I agree it would be better that if the male/female version is very similiar (like with the recon armor) to do a front and back image for the infobox image. But if there's a reasonable difference, then stick to a male/female armor image. JspoelJspoel Vault Boy 15:13, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Yes it was decided to be both male/female version for the info box (something which I was greatly outnumbered on), instead of front and back. Instead the back images where to be added to a gallery or in the extra section of the infobox. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:12, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Yakovs ban[]

He intentionaly planed a 'raid' on the CoD wiki chat, purly to troll, upon his kick he vandalised their pages, whislt it is their wiki this was all planed in our chat giving the vault a bad name, also after his CoD block he started acting very aggressive with others so I asked another admin to help me figure out what to do, I spoke to Itachou and we came to a consensus a ban was needed, as Yakov had prior bans, and his last was 2 weeks I gave him a 3 month ban. - Crazy Sam10 Talk PollShadowAttackSmallAni 18:19, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

I've been talking it over with some people who were involved from our wikia, and I believe you are right and there shouldn't be a 3 month ban, however we still beleive a ban should be put in place as even though he broke no rules, those rules where not in place after the chat, we can't start going into other chats spouting "Fallot wiki is the best your wiki is shit Trololo" it gives us a bad name, and after doing so he vandalised their pages as some kind of vengenge thing, once again bad for reputation, after he was banned from CoD he was aggressive towards others in our chat and it was at that point the consensus for the ban was confirmed. - Crazy Sam10 Talk PollShadowAttackSmallAni 19:11, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

I thought he was banned for harrassing one of our members, I even said yes I saw that & agreed with a ban but I thought 3 months was too harsh for common trolling.. However, Now that I've read all the case against Yakov.. I'd say he should be banned untill he contacts an Admin with a "Well worded " appology & promise to play by the rules & take heed if ever warned again by a mod or admin.

Since you haven't replied, I'll just post it here.[]

Well, I've given you more than ample opportunity to reply on Needs More Battle Cattle. So.. here we are, then.

Yes, Tag, we all know that. However, I want you to consider this: Obsidian isn't a name which translates very well into a person's name. If I had tried (and I didn't, I'm not gonna lie.) I wouldn't have felt like going with Zii, Dee, or Obadiah since that would have been stretching the name far past the point where the reader would easily recognize what organization was being parodied in a anthropomorphic fashion. Without that clear and (most importantly) *easy* understanding, the flow and the comedic entire mood of the post falls apart.

Commenting what you did before thinking about any of that, is itself on the ignorant side of things.

Further clarification: I would never date an Obadiah. Not out of any sort of, "oh its because Obi's a guy", but because "Obadiah" just doesn't lend itself to being easily screamed out in the throes of passion and I've never wanted to imagine having sex with Alec Guinness.

Further Further Clarification for anyone who missed the point and wants Tag's point responded to outside of the realm of the post I made: If you are saying that Bethesda doesn't deserve any credit for FONV, such a statement doesn't serve to reveal that you have any idea as to how marketing, endorsement or brand-recognition work. If a publisher puts their name on a product, that publisher is saying - among many other things - that they endorse that product and are putting their reputation and customer-trust on the line in regards to it.

Sure, they're not making it themselves, they just designed FO3, and yadda yadda yadda whatever, but Bethesda's rep is still on the line with FO:NV. The Publisher has the last say in what gets shipped - the last bit of QA is on them, whether or not they chose to do any. So yeah, Bethesda deserves some credit for FONV and the add-ons when they did good things, but make no mistake that I do (and have) also beat on Bethesda for the craptacular things as well. So don't worry... I'm not just praising one and beating on the other.

Oi.

In conclusion: Do Not Insult Satire Unless You Understand It And Do Not Leave Insulting Comments On My, Or Anyone's, Blog. And before you, again, say that I'm being ignorant, this time for taking what you said as an insult; you left the comment, one to which I replied, and then you said nothing, leaving me no option but to assume that, yes, you were, in fact, being insulting.

Soviet Union[]

Regarding Alepov's Soviet emblem: I do not see emblems of the Soviet Union as having the same universal and unmistakable meaning as the Nazi swastika. I understand that you have a case to make, but I think you need to make it in a forum and gain some consensus before asking people to remove soviet symbols.--Gothemasticator 21:32, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

I can see your view, and it does hold water, but you must remember that this was the universal sign of Communism long before Lenin adopted it. Many people have forgotten this due to China's flag, which represents the party, and the people. I don't wish to argue with you, but rather remind you (because it is clear you are an intelligent person, so I have no reason to doubt that you already knew this) that it is Communist, not Soviet. Thanks for your time, TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag.

Question for the seasoned vet[]

Hey Taga,

I don't know if you remember me, but I was the one that vehemently defended fallout 3. I've never played either of the first two fallouts and I now wish to give one of them a try. Being the expert and such a huge fan, would you mind taking some time out of you're undoubtedly busy schedule to tell me which one you would recommend more?

Fallout 1 First Impressions[]

I know you have other things to do, what with editing and more important people to respond to, but I thought you might like the first impressions from a gamer growing up in the "bang valued over the story" era.

1. I actually really enjoyed the animated opening. It provided great expressions that the Gamebryo engine couldn't generate.

2. Although the combat does take some getting used to, I really like the tactical aspect of managing action points.

3. My last note, seeing as I did not get very far into the game, is that I am rather confused when I actually need to travel. Do I travel immediately to the indicated vault once I leave my own or do I try to find a town? The "fast" travel aspect seemed peculiar to me, but I suppose this is what actual sandbox game play is when compared to that of the newer generation.

Overall, Fallout 1 is definitely a great experience, but I wish I had known a few things like specializing in melee in the beginning. Oh, and congratulations on another year of marriage.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation, {{SUBST:User:ShadyCake/sig}} 04:04, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Ulysses timeline[]

Hello Tag ;)

Actually, Ulysses timeline is rather hard to interpret since we have no date for some event, only indications.

  • Based on the Patient log: Y-17.9, Ulysses known that the Courier is alive and say to Christine (if they come in the Sierra Madre) to come to him, so it's obligatory after Victor job, since it's at that time he learns that the Courier is alive. Also, we don't know when the Courier arrived in the Mojave for the job, and when Victor creates his announcement, this may be late 2280, early 2281 ect., time for Elijah to do all, and he is probably not stay very long when you meet it, otherwise he would have starved to death or something (it's an old man, it is fragile physically). Also out of Ulysses, we don't meet any courier in the game, this indicates that they are pretty rare and call one or more can take time, especially in a region under reconstruction.
  • Ulysses never comes in Big MT for find the access codes, based on the Ulysses Log Y-17.16, he come across by accident and take the opportunity to speak with the Think Tank. Also, based on Chris Avelonne on Twitter, the nuclear missile only need the copy of ED-E to be launched (also say by Ulysses in-game, that why he take the control of him after you reach a certain point in Lonesome Road).

Itachou [~talk~] 19:49, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

So for you, if I understand correctly, the event in Big MT with Ulysses is before the destruction of the Divide? Because it's after that Ulysses think that the Courier is dead.
Actually the sentences:
"Get [her/him] to come to me. Got a message for [her/him], like the message [she/he] had for me. Make them walk the road west, straight and true, sink their feet in Old World ash. Let storms tear at them. See the Divide. See what happened."
"Nothing there? Like the Big Empty? The Sierra Madre? No, the Old World sleeps there, sure as the flag I carry. The Courier knows the way. And at the Divide, [her/he] and I - there, we'll have an ending to things."
Are proof that Ulysses knows that the Courier is alive after Victor job and wants to finish with them in the Divide when the time comes, this cannot be interpreted otherwise. Itachou [~talk~] 20:16, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Sincerely it is rather difficult to be truly sure without asking a dev, many interpretations are possible. Since you have a Twitter account, can you ask the question to Chris Avellone? I would also like to know the truth about that ;). Itachou [~talk~] 21:39, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hum... just a note but look at this sentence of Ulysses in the Patient log: Y-17.9:
"Let storms tear at them. See the Divide. See what happened."
"See what happened" - meaning see what happened after you have brought this package and you're left. The Divide seems to be already destroyed. Before change anything, I await your opinion on that. Itachou [~talk~] 14:22, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah but it remains an assumption. Well, hope Chris Avellone can clarify all this, it is unfortunate that no date was given in-game. Itachou [~talk~] 17:06, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Blog comment deletions[]

I think you went overboard deleting those comments. One guy asks what has Tim Cain done since Fallout. Other people proceed to list accomplishments. Sure, it was a hyperbolic comment. Sure, it showed disrespect to a FO creator. But none of that is against policy. Live and let live, Tag. You are regularly more abrasive than the comments you deleted.--Gothemasticator 17:27, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

And this comment of yours would not be considered insulting toward another editor? "Error: Fallout 3 as best Fallout game and developed taste. DOES. NOT. COMPUTE."
You're playing with double standards, Tagaziel. Strictly applied against those you disagree with and leniently applied to your own contributions.--Gothemasticator 17:50, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
And the comment I quote above "can only be identified as intentionally disruptive and provocative towards other Vault users, particularly those enjoying classic [newer] RPGs."--Gothemasticator 18:24, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
And the user whose comments you deleted was expressing amazement that Tim Cain is as idolized as he is with the track record he's got. Sure, you disagree. Sure, I disagree. But it's not trolling.--Gothemasticator 18:33, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
The course of action I'm taking is simply to advise you to refrain from deleting so many blog comments. Yes, I read the deleted comments before I approached you. I've also been reading back through the deletion log. You are overzealous in your deletions, and it's disruptive to the community. A better approach in this latest set would have been to delete the one comment that contained the "drooling fanboys" language and to post a message on the user's talk page warning him about the policy against insults. That would almost certainly have been enough.
As for my "chewing you out," my aim is to point out to you that you do use double standards, and that is perennially disruptive to the community. If you are zealous enough to "pre-emptively" delete a comment that was not in and of itself trolling (as you did a few days ago, noted in conversation with Jspoel), then you should be zealous enough to tone down your own language which suggests insultingly that another user cannot possibly have taste and like FO3.
Deleting another's comments should be a last resort. Civility and rational argument, which you are good at, are better for the community.--Gothemasticator 19:13, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I have to agree with Gothemasticator has brought up. I cant say that comments like "Error: Fallout 3 as best Fallout game and developed taste. DOES. NOT. COMPUTE." is any different than "WTF Fallout 3 is clearly the best". They are equal and opposing views of the same debate (one side you support and the other you oppose), one of which you you delete and the other you post. I think this is reinforced by the response it got, which to me identifies the original, comment as trolling/flame baiting in its own right. Additionally, it is boarder line going against the admin policy of not using Admin powers to settle a dispute.

As for the question of over-zealously deleting comments. While you do bring up some valid points, others are not so valid. Of the 2 deleted today (excluding parent comment deletion), one I would agree with and the other not so much. I feel that certain views are actioned because of an overly defensive nostalgic feelings for past games. This is where I lay down a challenge, if something is so great - then way cant it stand up to simple debate points view? I think the simple answer it to replace FO1/2 for FO3 (and vice versa) in any of your comments, then ask yourself if you would delete that comment. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:19, October 27, 2011 (UTC)

Why should the minority have more rights though? What you are enforcing is positive discrimination of a minority view point. When you should be trying to enforce zero discrimination. It is one thing to delete negative comments, under the guise of affirmative action for the minority. But perpetuating the divide and resentment from the opposing view point by posting similar counter statements, does nothing for fairness either. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:33, October 28, 2011 (UTC)
Assuming I am annoyed, or even emotionally affect in any way, by the comments has no relevance (or in this case, even being correct). The point I am trying to get across is the general hypocrisy (and I use the term loosely) of it. On one hand you delete such comments, while with the other you post similar comments. Now, one or the other action in on itself isn't so bad, and can be given the leeway that you speak for. It is doing both at the same time where the issue resides. Which then de-evolves the whole debate into a debacle and accusations of misuse of admin powers. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:57, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

Firstly, that was not the only reason for the ban - there was also insulting other users - for which he has a track record and has been given leeway in the past with the same promise. I see no reason why that promise would be any different than past promises. Secondly, it was also admitted in chat about the sock puppet - which I probably still got the logs for. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:57, October 30, 2011 (UTC)

http://www.mediafire.com/?10fenopj2qcryg3
I still see that you are ignoring the insults to other users... seems strange on my part, that you are only focussing on one part and using it as the whole reason to remove the ban - when it was not the whole reason for the ban in the first place. Either way, that part is not circumstantial and remains unanswered. Since there is a track record of previous incidents, that alone is deserving of the ban to be enforced. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:33, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
After further thought, I will agree with the ban being lifted for the sake of one last chance. But if he violates the rules again, there will be no leniency. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:45, October 30, 2011 (UTC)

Gauzz[]

I can understand your concerns, and you have every right to ask for my motivations behind this ban:

  • I actually didn't ban Gauzz for slander alone. While this was annoying in my eyes, it was simply not enough to ban or get upset over. This is the reason why I didn't ban Broccoli also. (Although Jspoelstra thought that was enough to ban him over. But that's another story that I'm not a part of.)
  • I did, however, ban him for coming back three days after his leaving with the sole purpose of attempting to get another of our users to leave. He came back as an anonymous user, and left Broccoli a message offering to talk about the Nukapedia situation on his personal wiki. A mere hours later, Broccoli announces his leave as well and uses the exact same defection notice as Gauzz. While I understand Broccoli made his own decision in the end, the last thing we need is someone coming over here with the intention of advertising their own host.
  • This event alone was not enough to justify an indefinite ban. That's where Gauzz's ban history comes into play. Gauzz has a history here of stirring things up, and before this incident, had already had a total of three bans. According to Administrator guidelines, I have every right after the 3rd ban to proclaim an indefinite ban upon said user. I considered the advertising as the last straw, leaving his talk-page open in-case he ever wanted to contest his ban.
  • I happened to mention a global ban and a removal of his patroller rights. The patroller rights only makes sense, but you didn't mention that so we'll just gloss right over it. As for the global ban, one of the things the Wikia staff made clear during the split, is that no one should take the split as an opportunity to recruit from the other. (Although, due to their bias on the matter, they were primarily concerned with Wikia, not Curse.) Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe advertising was the reason Ausir was globally banned, for making the attempt to convert many of our language wikis over to the Curse variant. (The Cobalt wiki had a big part as well if memory serves right.) So I didn't know if a global ban was necessary for this situation, hence why I said I'd talk to Jspoelstra and Clyde over it it first. Although looking back now, I should have just left that part out. It does sound overly threatening, and I am sorry for that.
  • Onto our relationship with The Vault. I love The Vault still. I have absolutely no problem with people who have decided to edit over there. Hence, why I still have a working relationship with editors such as Ci or HawK. This incident managed to touch a nerve with me though. Out of nowhere, Broccoli decides to leave. This is fine by itself, as he has every right to edit where he wishes. But the first thing he does, is he unilaterally decides he is going to copy over a project that was not created by him or even majorly edited by him. Hell, he even copied the results over, which makes no sense seeing as in how none of our progress has been made over there on the Curse variant. All I asked was for him to start the project over from scratch, and to ask us first before proceeding. This way, he can give proper credit where it is due while he finds all of the quotes we've added and moves them over there. The content I have no problem with, as it benefits both wikis. I hope you can understand my stance on this.
  • I also happen to remember a project we started when all of that concept art was released for Fallout 3. We asked if we could copy them over here from The Vault, and we were told it might be best if we did things on our own. I agree with that. We really need to start becoming more independent, if we are to create a unique vision for ourselves. And so I took the same approach with Broccoli.
    • Well, I think I covered everything. Sorry for the long read, and let me know what you think afterwords. Talk to you later Tag. Dragon Skål! 14:49, May 11, 2012 (UTC)
I've talked this over with Kingclyde by mail, and he discussed it with Garoux in chat, and after giving it some thought I (and Garoux) can agree with Clyde's revertal of Broccoli's ban. Banning Broccoli was my initial decision, I was especially ticked off by him saying that this place is slowly falling into the wrong hands. Just because he's not been given patroller rights and gets a page deleted suddenly we aren't any good anymore? I felt spoken to and I (and Garoux for that matter) being among the most dedicated and caring people for this wiki, I felt I had to make this statement. Now, a day later, reflecting on things I will probably react differently if a similar thing would happen again; I haven't had to deal with this before. As long as we know ourselves we're on the right track, that will be good enough. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:35, May 11, 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome. I should have clarified upon my position further from the start, but I made the assumption that this wouldn't be such a controversial decision. I'll try and not to make such assumptions in the future.
  • Maybe slander isn't the right word, but his words do indeed seem to us as a last ditch effort to dirty the name of Nukapedia. Especially when he over-dramatizes it by saying he's going to the one true Fallout wiki and using words such as defecting.
  • It's not a coincidence. Broccoli even stated on his talk-page that Gauzz did indeed bring him over to his wiki's chat room to discuss his reasons on leaving and why. Coming back here for the sole purpose of doing that, and making it as private as possible by coming back as an anon and taking him into an out of the way chat room suggests that he did not want anyone else to know about it. This is advertising in my eyes, and even if Broccoli left on his own free will, (Which I have no doubt about.) I still find this unacceptable. If I wouldn't have cracked down now, he might have done the same thing to other users as well. Let me give you a real world example to help personify this matter: At business A, worker 1 decides he'd rather pursue another career field. So worker 1 proceeds to business B. Worker 1 then decides to come to business A during his breaks to take other workers there aside during work hours to tell them about what all is wrong with business A and why they should leave. Even if said allegations are true, business A is left with two options: They either A) Let worker 1 continue trying to influence the other workers, who might not have left originally, or B) Kick worker 1 out and let the workers decide for themselves whether or not they want to stay. I hope that makes sense.
  • About Ausir... I have absolute respect for Ausir, and at the moment, there's no possible way I could know Wikia's true motives for how they dealt with Ausir. However, I was told by them that it was primarily because he was trying to influence other wikis into joining Curse. While this might not be their true reasons, but a blanket excuse instead, there is still a little truth behind those words after seeing the attempts made on some of our language wikis. (Norwegian/Russian/Polish are a few examples.) Either way, I do not wish to cast Ausir into a bad light, as I understand his actions for the most part. He is simply trying to strengthen The Vault as it gets ready for Fallout 4. I'm really sorry if you or anyone else takes my words the wrong way. Dragon Skål! 16:02, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate your interest in debating, Tagz, but I would kindly ask you to tone down some of your arguments on my blog post. It's fine and dandy to dislike the East Coast Brotherhood, but I'd prefer it if you didn't imply people were stupid or call others trolls because they see the world differently to you. It's starting to get on my nerves; just attempt to be more polite when debating the topic. Thank you, Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 07:48, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Tag! I'm starting a weekly blog segment that will interview two users who feel differently about a subject. The first subject is going to be the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood, a topic that I know you absolutely loooooooove ;). If you could read this and then leave your responses on my talk page (or in my sandbox as long as you don't mess with anything else), I'd much appreciate it. Attitude[]

I'm going to level with you, Tagz.
I got nothing against you, but the way you spoke down to me in that Divide blog post sort of upset me. Perhaps I don't know as much as you about what goes into creating a video game. But that certainly doesn't give you the right to call me hopeless, imply that I don't even read what I write or that I don't make any sense. Of course you're not going to agree with my views on Lyon's Brotherhood; you wrote a whole blog about it. Yet there was a reason for that vote - We are given the opportunity to vote for either Agent c's argument or your argument and I listed why I didn't vote for yours.
To tell me that I'm wrong for thinking differently is nothing short of insulting, and you didn't need to include borderline insults for no other reason than maintaining your public image as a "professional bastard". I'm not asking for an apology or anything - I'm merely saying that I'm getting fed up with your attitude towards myself and others who enjoyed Fallout 3 and it's aspects because you didn't like the game and you feel the need to take it out on us fans. If you can't see an issue with how you treat others, just think of it in your everyday life - you wouldn't call another lawyer hopeless in court because he sees things differently, would you? Yes hello, I apparently insulted you, and others, earlier in ,I believe, 2010, around the time when "Old World Blues" came out for Fallout: New Vegas. Something concerning your "sexual life" or sexual orientation. Now while this is my account. I do not believe that was me. I may have been my little cousin at the time, since he was getting into fallout at that time and I most likely forgot to log out of my account. This is just a sincere apology that I plan/hope to send to any one who he wronged. So once again I am sorry for any unnecessary strife that he may have been the cause of. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you could, could you also get back to me with the chat log of said conversation so I can also apologize to the others that he, most likely, insulted.

AdBlock[]

Taken straight from the ToU:

Not to intentionally block, remove, or otherwise obstruct the proper functioning and view of advertisements, and/or user interface and functionality by other users, including but not limited to changing or adding javascript or CSS changes to the Service that would prevent the proper display or function of advertisements and/or user interface and functionality;

Now, AdBlock clearly blocks/removes the advertisements. You're right when you say it has nothing to do with CSS, but that little part that says "including but not limited to changing or adding javascript or CSS changes" is what includes AdBlock to the rule. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 09:05, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

I'll also add that it's against the rules to remove an edit that isn't vandalism/spam from public forums and talk pages. You know better than that, so don't do it. If Tocinoman was incorrect, merely make a note of it on the forum instead of removing it outright. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 09:12, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Tag. Having joined right around the time of the wiki's split, I never talked much with you, only occasionally in the chat. But it came across my mind today how profound of an effect this site has had on me, particularly your posts, comments, and blogs, as they have changed the way I see and think about things. This may strike you as random but I find your writing stimulating and thought-provoking, and over time it has really shown me to think very critically and do thorough research before saying/posting anything. Just now I am reading through some of your critiques on the Fallout universe and such, and it seems to me that we share views on a lot of things, and reading the things you write has really improved me as a writer and thinker. So I guess this is just a somewhat-out-of-place thanks XD See you around. --Skire (talk) 02:03, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Zigmunt Dudek[]

Hi Taz,

1898 to 1983.Service Engineer for Polish fighter pilots based in the UK working on Spitfires or Hurricanes in 1941 to 1945 My hardest years of my life was as an apprentice being taught by a Polish engineer by the name of Zigmunt Dukek in 1960 - 1965. Dear Ziggy. I was living in the land of `carrot crunchers` at the time and Ziggy was the only worthwhile Engineer in Southern England, between where he worked and the east coast of America he was without equal.

No one could understand him, no one his equal, not even the owners of the Enginneering firm. When in a hurry for a job, the bosses would ask him "Ziggy! when will the job be ready?" and Ziggy would give them a long stare and reply,"when it is finished!"and they would say " when will that be?" and he would say " when it is ready!"

They would then explain that the production line was stopped waiting his inspection of the fist one off the line, all to no avail..It they stood near to watch him he would lay down his tools, stare at them, and say in a `sarcastic tone` "You learn?" He even pushed the managing director out of his office one day and there was nothing they could do or his loss would have just shut the factory. It was during this time that he taught me what it was to become a bastard as there was no other way with carrot crunchers. The only way the management won was, they financially stuffed him, and so there became two sets of bastards.and Iv`e been a bastard by conviction as well ever since when dealing with upstart admin.

Complaints[]

I've fielded some complaints today over your behavior in chat and your forum posts, specifically this one:

Tagazie

Your words here are condescending and your statement that people who do not agree with your view of FO3 are not "thinking poeple" is dangerously close to insulting another editor, implying that they lack intellect. You are welcome to argue your points on the game itself, as you did further down the thread, but you may not direct comments like these at other users themselves. As for chat, unfortunately, my chat log from today glitched and did not save the entire day's chat. I do have many other logs of you kicking users for reasons that are not violations of the chat policies. The features in chat that allow you to kick users are to be used only when there are chat violations. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:51, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

At the risk of repeating myself, note that I said "you may not direct comments like these at other users themselves." You are as free as anyone else here to debate or argue the points that others make in forums. You are not free to issue direct insults at these users, among which I count calling other people unintelligent, in whatever form that may take. I see that you and Eden seemed to come to an understanding in chat today. Thank you. I also saw that you kicked ToCxHawK from chat just after he entered and said hello to you. I asked you not to do that, and will repeat: the kick function in chat is to only be used when there is a chat violation. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:25, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Also, I have made a general response to all the comments on my talk page there. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 20:51, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
I understand that your "greeting" is not malicious. It is an incorrect usage of the tool. Clyde, Jspoel and I all agree that using the kick function for anything other than what the policies call for is unacceptable. It may be harmless to the parties (you and Eric) involved, but it's poor leadership by example, and it's seen as an abuse of that feature by most, including the BCs. Please find another way to "greet" each other. I'm not singling you out, I will again remind all of our sysops and chat mods to use that tool correctly. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 14:59, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Fallout and NewVegas[]

Should I write this ?..I dont know. but I write anyway...Why they keeping thinking Fallout 3 is bigger than New Vegas? Why they keeping thinking mountain restrictions make it smaller? Why can`t they be bothered to physically survey it? If they did they would find that New Vegas is 3.1 times bigger than Fallout 3. I won't repeat what my Polish tutor would say..Between 1958 and 1965 they tried to ban Ziggy over and over again but Ziggy no care. But then they have never tasted living in a wasteland and trying to get by.I never saw an roange or banana for 6 years. Holes in my shoes, no rain coat, no gloves, no scarf, ice on the inside walls in winter, mother darning socks with wool fragments over light bulbs, coal delivered by horse and cart ,no fuel for cars until 1954 except for the wealthy.Women making dresses out of sacks, and this in the centre of one of the largest towns on the South coast. and all the wealth? ..stored away in Canada for a rainy day for the rich. maybe I will post this in my blog, maybe I won`t.. --1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 11:09, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Core Region[]

I just wanted to let you know that I've reverted your revert on this article page. As our guidelines dictate, it is proper etiquette to start up a discussion with an editor if they've made a change that you do not approve of. While I don't mean to sound condescending, wouldn't you agree that this is a better tact than to edit war and then blatantly protect the page? (The edit warring wasn't just by you, though, so don't think I'm only getting on to you about that.) In any case, the sentence you are protecting is a matter of personal interpretation. While it is factual, in a ways, it would also be factual to say that New Vegas is more detailed and fleshed out when considering the same setting. (For instance, the original is more detailed by providing a map that shows proper topography. New Vegas, however, provides an in-depth feel of the land around you instead of providing only small chunks of copy&paste landscapes, which the originals had a habit of doing quite frequently.) So what I would like to see happen is for you, Paladin and Eden to talk this matter through so you can gain some sort of general consensus. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 15:45, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

I have been debating what to say for a bit now, but before that I guess I should ask you something. What is it that makes you consider the Core Region the most detailed location? I know that it is the only region that has appeared in multiple games, so we've seen different parts of it over the years, but is that what makes it more detailed or is there something else? Paladin117>>iff bored; 18:23, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

I'm afraid that's false. Just because information has been on here for years doesn't mean that it's untouchable. However, our guidelines do dictate that it is in bad practice to edit war with other editors without proper discussion. I'll go ahead and quote what is in our user conduct guidelines: " If you disagree with another editor, discuss the issue either on user or article talk pages. Repeatedly reverting each other's changes ("edit warring") is bound to escalate the conflict instead of solving it. If you cannot reach a consensus, ask another user to mediate. In general, if someone reverts an edit you made, you should not re-add it without reaching a consensus on the article's talk page." So all I am asking is for you to actually have a proper discussion before you escalate matters by continuously edit warring with two other editors and then closing the matter by protecting the page even though our policies dictate that a bias party may not do such a thing. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:08, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

And just so I'm clear, you, Paladin and Eden were in the wrong here. I plan on having a talk with Eden, as well. (Paladin already knows my concerns over this matter.) ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 21:10, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

( I read your comment on Scarface's page. I understand when you read these kind of comments it can hurt but you've always been a person of controversy and there have been similar comments towards you (perhaps to a lesser degree) in the past when this was still The Vault. If we all had moved to Curse the same thing could have happened over there. I'm not that much a person of controversy but every now and then I pick something about people talking bad/behind my back about me. Like me "sucking" at community skills or favoring certain people. It's people's nature to search for people/subjects they can (bad) talk about to create some sort of drama. I don't let it affect me, I know I'm not that good in some areas but I make (more than) up for it in other and have a lot of confidence. Same applies for you I think. You're one of the best writers and Fallout lore specialists around and you gain a lot of confidence from that I'm sure. I was thinking asking you back here because one, it seems a lonely place there at The Vault and two, I feel your talents largely (will) go to waste there with the number of visitors in mind. Here your writing could be seen by many, many more visitors and the Fallout wiki in general would all be the better for it if you ask me. But if you really feel this community isn't the one for you anymore, we can respect that too. Think about it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:52, July 2, 2013 (UTC)

CC-BY-SA, et al.[]

I'd be happy to look into this situation, if it still is one. I see that Agent c has retracted his statements on your position after you opened the forum on your site. If you still want me to look into it, I will. Be advised, if I do look into it, I will look into everything, including all content taken without proper credit on both sites. Also be advised: I'm not a lawyer and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn express last night. I won't pretend to be a lawyer. I will simply inform Wikia of any possible breaches of their copyrights or CC-BY-SA and let them figure it out. As for Agent c's conduct, I'm also not a prosecutor. I will look at our policies here and if he broke any, I will apply them. I have no other remit. As far as I'm concerned, this can be, and should be, all avoided by everyone coming to an agreement for content sharing.

Js and I agree with the way we'd like to see it. No straight up copying without prior approval. That's the gentlemen's agreement we've had all along. If we need that in both site's policies, then let's iron that out. We are both OK with copyright notices on file pages and articles that are straight up copies, albeit with the copyright notice in the usual place, the bottom of the page. If we both put in place that policy, does this meet The Vault's needs? Would this suffice to solve this problem? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:49, October 18, 2013 (UTC)

Vault/Nukapedia[]

Hi Tag,

Whilst I will not result to accusations of bad faith, it is obvious that your investigation has come to a flawed conclusion. You drew the conclusion that Ant simply "Forgot" to apply the correct template. Given that Ant has publicly (Here, on his talk page on Nukapedia, and in Public Chat on Nukapedia) made statements that are incompatible with this position (specifically, that there was no copying, not that he "Forgot" to attribute it correctly), it is clear an error has been made. I appreciate your desire to "protect your people" (you've seen me do the same with Eden), but coming to a conclusion that creates a narrative in favor of the accused when the accused has already rejected has only sort to create more drama - the sort of drama you claim to be trying to avoid.

Whilst you make choose to joke about reporting to the FBI's cybercrime division, I know that you know that there are more appropriate courses of action. Whilst your legal education was likely in the European/Civil Law tradition, I am sure you are aware of the existence of the USA's Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and the potential effects of a DMCA notice being issued. I would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that neither side resorts to this nuclear option, as I told Ant noone wins in a nuclear war. The patience of our members, as you have seen, is growing thin on apparent copying issues, particularly given your aggressive stance on it in the past.

Whilst you may choose to delete, remove or otherwise obfuscate this message any doing so will be taken as proof that you have received the message and are aware of its contents. It will be posted on your talk page on Nukapedia as well as the Vault. Agent c (talk) 13:24, January 20, 2014 (UTC)
