It's not soo bad. A lot of tiny edits, and I check them as well. Rather not do it, but because of the reasons you mention it's not all reliable. He can skip the Oxford comma's though. The other things you mention are minor; the strategy, second person and spec part isn't that bad. You probably know my position on the second person; seeing 5 times player character in a small section reads plain akward in my opinion. I'll see about writing him a note tomorrow. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 01:10, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Timeline inconsistency[]

I thought maybe you would be able to help or know someone that can. I recently read through and edited timeline page and noticed that the Castle and Minutemen's destruction is listed both in 2240 and 2247. Looking at The Castle, it states 2240 with a citation from the VDSG, but that McGann was general until 2247. Also, the Commonwealth Minutemen page states 2247. I can not find an explanation for why two different years would be floating around, nor can I find any direct written citation for the year 2247. So it either must be a mistake or it was mentioned in dialog somewhere, I don't know. And then I found that there are duplicate pages for McGann's terminal entries, here and here. JMA4269 (talk) 06:37, January 5, 2017 (UTC)

I believe I've found out why. When Ronnie is talking about McGann, she says "no point in getting sentimental over something that happened 40 years ago." This just seems like a single person's perception of time, so 2240 should be the year if the quote from VDSG is correct. Also, I just now read your reply on the talk page for wine referring to the Amontillado. I've only ever collected the consumable from the armory, I think just 7 bottles. I can make an image for it when I have time, probably tonight or tomorrow for me. Thanks! JMA4269 (talk) 01:33, January 6, 2017 (UTC)

Triumvirate[]

I'm aware of the issue but I prefer to stay off of it. I'm not knowledgeable about the topic as I haven't played that DLC yet and didn't read a lot of pages on it, so in my opinion, I can't make a decision in good faith on this matter if there is discussion about it. As this whole thing isn't very urgent (not like someone making pages like "poo" or "penis" or someone posting porn), I prefer to leave this to other admins. Sorry if this comes over as lack of faith in you, this is not to case, I fully trust you, but I don't feel good about making this kind of decisions when I don't know what I'm doing. - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 19:23, January 5, 2017 (UTC)

Regarding your revision[]

I want to talk to you about this revision.

  1. You said that it’s the “verbatim quote”; however, we’re talking about punctuation. How can you… hear punctuation? If you’re talking about the subtitles, they were presumably not written by the people who wrote the script, and even if they were, the subtitles often have mistakes, be it grammar mistakes or punctuation mistakes. Some subtitles even say things that’s severely different to the actual quote. Changing the punctuation to make the sentence easier to read doesn’t make it incorrect and non-verbatim.
  2. You didn’t explain why you so desperately want to have the text “after the two had sex at a park” in the article. It’s incredibly obvious that the two had sex at a park. “After the two had sex” is redundant; the definition of “conceived” is “became pregnant with”—how can a woman become pregnant with a child if she didn’t have sex with her partner? Why can’t the article simply say “Shaun was conceived at a park”?
  3. You undid my changes to the punctuation. What I did was place the commas and full stops inside the quotation marks, but you undid that. Placing commas and full stops outside quotation marks is very uncommon and is only sometimes used in British English. In American English, commas and full stops are always placed inside quotation marks, and I assume that this wiki uses American English, so why undo this change?
  4. Lastly, you also decided to undo the change from capital letters for emphasis to the <em></em> HTML tags for emphasis. Using capital letters to emphasize words and phrases is frowned upon on most wikis. <em></em> or simply italics (or bold) formatting should be used—but not capital letters. Capital letters should only be used for things like acronyms, not emphasis.

I understand that you do not like my revisions, but I’d like a proper explanation as to why you’re undoing them. I’d appreciate if you could fully explain yourself either in your edit summary, on the article’s talk page, or on my talk page whilst or before reverting my revisions. I’m not edit warring; I’m attempting to improve the articles.

I’m passionate about the Fallout series, and all I wish to do is help the wiki, but your aggressive behaviour towards me makes me not want to anymore. Rather than reverting my revisions without explaining why and being rude to me, you could explain yourself so that I could understand what I’m doing incorrectly and could subsequently improve my revisions based on the information that you give me. What I’ve done here is tried to improve the article by fixing punctuation issues, removing redundant phrases, and changing the formatting to make the sentences easier to read and understand, but you’ve undone all of that, and I don’t understand why.

As I wrote this, I noticed that you did put the commas and full stops back into the quotation marks; however, rather than doing that after undoing my revision, you could’ve manually prevented that change from happening.PapiDimmi (talk) 22:37, January 11, 2017 (UTC)

Why did you revert my revision?[]

I am incredibly tired of you reverting my revisions without explaining yourself. The undo button is there for a reason.

You reverted this revision, in which I inserted a serial comma, also known as Oxford comma. Nearly all style guides enforce the use of serial commas, and not using one is unprofessional.

I’ve read this wiki’s policies, and they say nothing about serial commas.PapiDimmi (talk) 22:03, January 28, 2017 (UTC)

I'd turn it into a note, but I'd say it's worth mentioning it on the page. It's the kind of information some people would be happy to find. - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 21:58, January 29, 2017 (UTC)

I don't know the building, so don't know exact location details, you might be right there, idk. Basic game physics isn't necesarilly a reason to not mention things to me, if they are notable to gameplay. For the strategy, I agree it's dubious. While I'd normally say for things like this that it is indeed strategy, I'm inclined to not do that here, as I'd say it's a pretty unforeseeable result of game mechanics. I think it's an addition to the page that many users would appreciate, a bit like how the SatCom Array NN-03d page also gives a strategy on how to pick up the giant teddy bear using a glitch. And as a more general note, it would have been easier if you would have just undone it with an explanation. While I didn't like the proposed edit summary idea forum, I think that if you undo an edit that was done with a lot of effort (if you check the link, he says he made that video especially for our wikia), then I think you should at least explain why you undo it. Reverting even keeps it away from the RC. - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 22:30, January 29, 2017 (UTC)
I agree with Peace, it should be there I think, perhaps rewritten slightly to make it less "strategy". People will be interestred to know this (just tried it myself). Also, like Peace says you can tell it took a good deal of time/effort to create the note, and someone taking that time will be disappointed and likely not return being pegged back without a reason on the first honest effort. Question[]

Is this an English wiki or a Russian one?PapiDimmi (talk) 06:07, February 18, 2017 (UTC)

OK OK your right with the X-03 But remember that the X-01 and the Advanced Power Armor From Fallout 2 are the same thing, just with different names, and like wise the Advanced Power Armor Mk II from Fallout 3 is essentially the second model to the X-01 and as such is named X-02 (you can leave the page how it is but I'm just pointing out and yes I'm well aware there is no resources to back me up here. im am sorry for any inconvenience I've caused to this Wiki and to you.)

Yours sincerely ReneFnock

And yes the X-01 and the Advanced Power Armor are the same thing on paper, but you do have a point since the X-01 may have been what it is in Fallout 4, while the Enclave Armor may have been constantly improved over a century after the war, but in terms of design, features and what the loading screen says about it, they are really just the same, just used by different people and with a different name. but in all fairness thank you for pointing this out.

Firstly, I'm surprised that Nuka-Cola had any involvement in the development of X-01 at all and secondly, ask yourself why does the X-01 and the Advanced Power Armor look so alike?, (and no i don't know...) and thirdly, is your right, the "X-02" is not its name (after some searching) it in fact called Advanced Power Armor Mk II (not to be mistaken by the Advanced Power Armor Mk II from Fallout 2) so again I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused to this wiki and yourself personally. Re:"For no apparent reason..."[]

First off, you can tone down with the aggression. Now let me respond what you said there "you removed the name of the subject of the article from every instance where it occurred" first off, I have no clue at all how that happened, I was simply editing the Master's origins section to mention Francine and Mark, I did not take out the subject name at all, it was already like that for whatever reason I have no clue how that happened. Also "And this marks the second or third time you've done so while editing.", I don't know if you've got me mixed up with somebody else, but this is the first time it's happened for me, so don't go accusing me of shit.. Now to sum it up, I have no clue at all how the subject name was taken out when I clicked to go into the edit section, something must be wrong with this sites edit code (or maybe it isn't and something's up with my end), but next time I will keep an eye out if that happens again. I'm not having an argument. So please don't give me any hassle. --Kryalis (talk) 04:01, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Thank you. And my apologies for that edit problem. And that does look weird, I've never notice it happen before. I'll ask one of the higher ups about it and see if it's something wrong with my end. --Kryalis (talk) 04:09, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Pre-War outits[]

If you check the other residents of Sanctuary Hills you'll find the outfit they wear are all on the item location pages. It's an interesting note, especially because many of them are unique in that pre-War environment, no one wears it post-War. So it's something people will be interested in to know; that the item is not obtainable is of less importance in these cases in my opinion.

You could maybe add a note: (not obtainable) for clarity on the item pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:24, March 25, 2017 (UTC)
Then we have a difference of opinion about this. It should be noted, it's interesting enough. Checked the guideline, it says found at this location, so not specifically obtained actually. So that would qualify the pre-War clothing of the Sanctuary residents on the clothing pages. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:34, March 25, 2017 (UTC)

You didn't like my comment say so, don't delete all record of it like it's wrong. Keep bullshit on the pages then, here I thought the point was to supply FACTS not all this other garbage. Look up the plot for Sneakers and go watch the original THEM! They don't have anything in common other than they're both movies. Might as well claim that the entire cast is based on the cast of Seinfeld since that's got about as much evidence as that existing note.

Sad that wikis also never change, always some damned fascist running things removing things he doesn't agree with regardless of their value.99.253.20.70 18:43, April 15, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Rosalyn Chambers/Carte[]

I had completely missed that in my various plays. It certainly sounds like its related to the Broken Mask incident rather than Nick, as we know from Far Harbor that he was an escapee. I'm inclined to agree that it is Carter on seeing that, but I also recall that there was synth interaction prior which makes me hesitant to put it back in. That said I won't challenge you if you choose to re-instate it as it mostly is correct. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 01:27, April 23, 2017 (UTC)

Sounds like the best thing to do. If we had a name or a matching date stamp then we could be certain enough to say he was the referenced prototype, without either it is speculative. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 01:58, April 23, 2017 (UTC)

Hi. In FO2 if the Matiscator bites your ear of and spits it on your unconscious body and you wake up finding it there the word would be spat as it would be past tense. Sorry if this seems Nit picky. You can google the word if you want. Sorry if this seems rude i am not trying to offend. Reference. The Matiscator Bit this off -During-(Past tense word) the fight and spit it on your unconscious body. The Matiscator bit this of during the fight and spat it on your unconscious body. So they should be a In-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar at spit. Thank you. (123123abcabc (talk) 18:25, May 3, 2017 (UTC))

Hey there![]

Hey there Mara, I seen what you did on that Sensor module page. Good work and all that. However if dealing with a situation like that again be sure to hit up the editor you're going back and for with sooner on the TP and/or use edit summaries to communicate to other editors why their edit is getting reverted. You and I know why that would be reverted, but someone with only 12 edits who joined the wiki today probably doesn't know why their edit keeps getting reverted or that it is even being reverted (they may assume it's just not updating for some reason, I know people are weird). On an unrelated note, is the NUN still a thing? I've been out of the loop for a while. Richie9999 (talk) 00:40, May 4, 2017 (UTC)

Well I left 'em a message too. Hopefully they'll stick around. It's always good to have willing editors, and any editor willing enough can be taught and refined as necessary. Richie9999 (talk) 00:51, May 4, 2017 (UTC)

Dear Great Mara, I am so dearly sorry that I kept on posting, and posting, and posting and having an edit war on the "Sensor Module" On the Fallout 4 wiki. I thought I would owe you an apology, I am new here as you can see, so I had no idea that you and Richie messaged me. I dearly hope we could still be friends though! :). Yet again, I am deeply sorry for what happened. I now know what not and what to do here on these forums :)!

Also, would you mind telling me why you reverted my edit on the Camp Forlorn Hope letter. I added a In-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar because it said "Take care of the kids and --}i'll write you again soon{--". I think it should be to you or you one. But it just says write you and that implies he will write her which would not make much sense considering this is a letter and if he wrote her again soon he would end up just writing her name. Your probably right in this situation but I just thought I would check as you never wrote why you reverted. Thanks123123abcabc (talk) 17:14, May 8, 2017 (UTC).

Oh. I would not be surprised if this is because I am not American and in my Country that might be considered incorrect. But Fallout is American so your right.

GECK check[]

I've checked in the CK and there is only model parts for Gutsy, Handy, Protectron and Sentry Bot. There is also 3 hybrid models of the latter that are cut as well. All the models with the name botmodel, but I checked under assault as well and came up blank. I can only assume that it is a mod inclusion, but a quick google search produced nothing. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 17:06, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

Tabber[]

Those settings are in MediaWiki:Common.css I believe. Search for tabber. Margins look good to me. Maybe it's worth changing the overview to a tabber, the list is very long and this way the mods are more easy to see/find. Another alternative is a collapsible table like you see for the Combat rifle on the Russian wiki. I'll take a better look at it tomorrow. If you see Gunny in chat ask what he thinks. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 23:56, May 15, 2017 (UTC)

Interwiki[]

In all honesty having them out of alphabetical order (as irrelevant as it is) bugs me for some reason even though I know RU sits at the start of the list on the page itself. If its needlessly clogging the recent's then I'll rein it in to actual articles that need editing.

On a side note, is it just me or have the contributions (outside of interwiki) been unusually low the last couple of days? Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 18:48, May 18, 2017 (UTC)

Gatling laser (Fallout 3)[]

Would you mind giving the gatling laser a quick once over for me? I'm pretty sure it should be down capped in the article, as with other weapons, but there is a double up-cap (Gatling Laser) which is making me doubt myself. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 23:46, May 31, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for that, looking at the foreign language wikis they all follow different rules (mostly fully capitalised). The russian (and assuming the Ukrainian) wiki's are the only ones that follow a similar standard to ourselves. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 01:13, June 1, 2017 (UTC)

Huh, thanks for that, I was honestly unaware of this. Like I said, I figured it wasn't a proper container like a filing cabinet, etc. Thanks for the info! Richie9999 (talk) 03:16, June 8, 2017 (UTC)

Throughout my career as an American student, I have always been taught by my English professors and teachers that fewer should be used with countable nouns, and less should be used with nouns with no plural. Any source I see online also points me to this direction as well. If you could provide me with a source that says that "less" should be used with a countable noun "round(s)", that would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was not the one changing the page anonymously, I just happened to see notifications that the page was changed multiple times for the same reason. --Fartshit.mov (talk) 19:52, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

You make a fair point with your source there. I don't, however, think you'll be able to find any gun & ammo advertisements or covers admitting that there are fewer bullets per magazine for a gun. Maybe it is possible to find it in an actual article (probably a comparison). I still, however, believe it to sound incorrect when said or written, but I will not push the discussion further.

Hey thanks for the fixes, lol I feel like an idiot for missing that. BTW I'm trying to get my name out there for Storyboard work for mods and other projects, I don't charge for it or anything, so if you need anything like that just let me know. SheasonFillyWiddler (talk) 19:38, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

Awareness[]

I think the OP might have a valid point on the awareness perk, even if it doesn't meet article standards and some of the information is factually incorrect. I've read what you wrote on their talk page, so I want to confirm if you have a full counter argument, or it was a revision due to poor quality? I don't think this is going to go away once the protection drops on the page so I'd like to try and get it sorted before then. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 13:38, July 9, 2017 (UTC)

I thought that might be the case. Anon is right that the information is false, his revision was poor and his argument of "look it up" makes it sound like he hasn't checked his facts. I'm going to put a notification on the talk page to say its being removed completely unless someone has a good argument for synth settler detection staying, and how they would revise it to be accurate and to article standards. Unusual Call Box[]

Regarding your revision on Unusual Call Box:

The blue box appears as an Easter egg, referencing Doctor Who. Is it relevant to mention that the machine is bigger on the inside and that it stands for “Time And Relative Dimension In Space”? This is not apparent in Fallout, and since the article links to the Doctor Who wiki, surely this information is not necessary?PapiDimmi (talk) 01:38, July 10, 2017 (UTC)

I agree with you on all points Mara. You aren't paid to be here and you do some of the best work out of all of us. When I look at you language against the rules you haven't broken them. Papi's response to being told "that isn't how we operate here" gets backs up and I've had to go have a smoke and a walk before responding to avoid being overly harsh, so I can fully emphasise on you swearing at him.

On that reasoning alone I see no point in doing anything than say your buttons have been pushed and you were pissed off, it happens. I'd rather you didn't when you're warning/advising people as you are seen as part of the face of the wiki and considered by other editors as "staff". Mara,

Thank you for your corrective note on my Talk page, and I apologize for re-upping the same edit before I'd figured out how to read your note on why you'd removed it; the summarized notification in my email simply said "Didn't include edit summary" and I mistakenly thought that was why it had been removed and moved to correct that first. Yes, there were characteristics removed which you disagree with, but also every infobox had wrong data which I went through and fixed and now you simply reverted them all and I have to waste my time putting them back. chill out bro I know what I'm doing here. Xa3MysteriousStranger 18:15, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

Still waiting for you to define how fixing in correct infobox information is "bad edits"Xa3MysteriousStranger 18:26, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

I've just walked into chat and caught the tail end of this now. Want me to take a look or wait for Js Mara? Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 18:32, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

Me removing characteristics that you said "can be there" and not "need to be there" is the same as you removing the valid infobox information without checking. Xa3MysteriousStranger 18:34, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

You quoted a "finished project" for items (particularly weapons and armor). according to the guidelines almost every base game consumable is wrong, but you didn't check did you? Xa3MysteriousStranger 19:09, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki:Item_page_overhaul_project

Properties of this item. For drugs, these are the effects. For armor, these include damage resistance, effects and what other items they can be repaired with if any. For weapons, these include damage, special effects, what items they can be repaired with (if any) and general properties (such as what type of weapon it is etc).

--With a category tag of finished, could be an error

Also it states nothing about all consumables just "drugs"Xa3MysteriousStranger 19:16, August 8, 2017 (UTC) ( As it stands, Xa3, has had a brief discussion with a crat, which proved not to get an affirmative answer. Mara has reverted the edits on the grounds of quality, to which I believe is stemmed from the removal of the information in characteristics. In my view, that information should be duplicated, the infobox acts as a quick summary of the items and the article is the detailed breakdown. As such the content should be in both places, this is also in part to do with how mobile skin works too.

Xa3, you should have stopped and engaged with Mara much sooner than you did. Guidelines are pretty clear on what is defined as edit warring: "Repeatedly reverting each other's changes ("edit warring") is bound to escalate the conflict instead of solving it. If you cannot reach a consensus, ask another user to mediate. In general, if someone reverts an edit you made, you should not re-add it without reaching a consensus on the article's talk page." This also means that Mara's further revisions are edit warring too, as it is not revision for vandalism, or even quality, but what Mara feels is how the article should be. This is a warning on both sides.

Layout guidelines as Mara has quoted do state the stats should be in be in the characteristics, clearly there might not be absolute consensus on that anymore.

I've spoken to Agent c and we have agreed that this should be resolved by consensus, raise a forum, discuss it and depending on the outcome, call a vote if need be. I am going to revert all the pages back to their original state now and any changes of the same vein must be abstained from until a resolution is found. Mara, if anything else of the like occurs, can you flag an admin or crat down to handle the situation rather than revert yourself please. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 19:19, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

I believe Xa3 felt he was doing the right thing cleaning things up. He didn't remove it blindly, and doublechecked the stats, sometimes correcting them. I see now the guidelines point out that it belongs there, so we let it stay then, or perhaps move some of it to an effects section. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:36, August 8, 2017 (UTC)

Dear Mara,

I was not engaging in edit warring, nor do I appreciate either the presumption that I was or the hostile tone of your message. I made a simple edit to add information I was unable to find here or elsewhere, which I discovered through experimentation. That information was then removed without comment as to why it was removed. I assumed the removal was an accident, and reverted it. Perhaps you should review those policies as well, specifically : "Do not start edit wars: Be ready to discuss your changes with others. If you disagree with another editor, discuss the issue either on user or article talk pages." A single comment stating that you reverted the edit intentionally, along with some idea of WHY you did it, would have prevented me from undoing your undo.

Legendary Feral Goul Stalker[]

Hello, I'm a fairly low-level player of Fallout 4 and I don't know much about the other games but I was reading the wiki about feral gouls and couldn't find anything on legendary feral goul stalkers, one of which I had encountered earlier tonight. It didn't come in a pack like the wiki said most feral gouls do. The first time I encountered it, I died because I couldn't use my gun. I believe this was just due to my inexperience because my minigun worked just fine the next time. It was relatively easy to kill but it seemed to mutate and glow when I stopped attacking for a short while (this might be normal but I don't know). I was on my way to help some people kill raiders and when I strayed from the road, I saw some light which I thought was a cooking station I'd been to before, it actually turned out to be some candles on some rubble. The goul was laying behind the rubble when it got up while I was relatively far away. After the goul was dead I searched it's camp which had a toolbox and two corpses. One of which I'm sure was human but the other may have been another goul.

Like I said, I'm new and I don't know how often normal enemy npcs become legendary but I wanted to tell about it just in case.

Wikia's forced addition of videos to the wiki[]

Hello, This is a message to all listed active members of the leadership team, so please accept my apologies if this seems a little impersonal.

As you may be aware, Wikia/Fandom have added a number of videos to pages on the wiki that they have self authored. Although the consensus view so far seems to be that these are not to our standards, I encourage you to view these for yourself and make up your own mind.

You can find a link to all the videos, and a petition I would like you to consider here. If you believe that these videos do not meet our standards, detract from the wiki, and should be removed, I encourage you to vote yes on this petition. You are of course welcome to vote no if you do not believe this is the case.

Thank you for your consideration. Agent c (talk) 21:10, September 7, 2017 (UTC)

Video Negotiated Settlement[]

Thank you very much for your vote on the petition. We have had talks with Wikia/Fandom, and a settlement has been proposed. I encourage you to review it and have your say here. Agent c (talk) 20:35, September 8, 2017 (UTC)

Regarding last correction on "Warhead" page, you stated "we don't use RL images in pages"

Would this not follow under "Behind the Scenes" as stated in FW:CONTENT

"Behind the scenes" information in the form of cultural references is acceptable page content only when there are obvious direct visual or textual correlations, in the event there is no developer confirmation.

Sorry I'm new to this and still working through the interpretations of FW:CONTENT

WARHEAD CORRECTION

Regarding your correction to article "Warhead" where you stated "...no RL images on the pages.."

Would this not qualify as a Behind the Scenes as per FW:CONTENT:

"Behind the scenes" information in the form of cultural references is acceptable page content only when there are obvious direct visual or textual correlations, in the event there is no developer confirmation.

Sorry, I'm new to this and still working through the interpretations of FW:CONTENT and editing structure..

Video Forums[]

Thank you for participating in the video forums so far.

In order to work out where to go from here, I've created another forum asking the community where our "Red line" is, and whether or not I should continue to be the point person on this.

You can find the new forum here. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this matter. Agent c (talk) 16:16, September 10, 2017 (UTC)

All Hands Meeting[]

Okay, I think its clear that going ahead with a meeting is a good idea. At this stage I would like to open the floor to agenda items. We have the following things to discuss.

  • An update on any negotiations, and other actions
  • Possible action to progress our case further whilst staying on network
  • Possible engagement with Wikia on video in line with the proposed deal- if we should participate and whom that contact person should be.
  • Possible alternatives if the situation cannot be resolved.

Please let me know if you want anything added to the agenda here

I'll be asking a number of people to speak on certain issues, but as always there will be plenty of room for discussion.

I propose that the meeting be held at 3pm North American Eastern Time on Sunday 24 September, this should be 8pm in London, 9pm Central European time, and Midday North American Western. If there are any objections please note them below and we'll look into alternative scheduling, the more objections the harder we look for a new time.

We have arranged facilities for the meeting, it will be held online. It is open to all persons who have participated in any of the video discussion threads up to today, except those employed by Fandom/Wikia inc (as this is the Community's meeting), or have been employed by them in the recent past.

Votes taken in this meeting will be taken as consensus view of the wiki, so everyone is encouraged to attend.

We have setup a discord server (Nukapedia's Fallout Shelter) located here. It is mobile friendly (via an app) and is very flexible.

Although everyone is welcome in our social space (The-Common-Room), only persons who meet the above criteria will be admitted to The-Town-Hall (where the meeting will be located). You may be asked to verify your account before this access is granted. Agent c (talk) 21:53, September 11, 2017 (UTC)

You reverted my small addition[]

Can't you at least give a reason? And why don't you just correct it a bit rather than just click on the undo button and revert everything? I know my addition was very small, i just can't imagine how people with their large information feel when you reverted them all. If you think people's contribution is not entirely correct (grammar, text signs, etc.), contribute yourself to correct it a bit. I know you're busy, but don't think you're the only one, we're all busy. But you can't blame people for that and making it a reason to use the undo button and just dump someone's work, i know I can't just hit someone's face just because i'm being mad after i typed this and just say "oh sorry, someone made me angry a minute ago". Because it's our own problem, not others'. That was my first small contribution and i think i'm through with it. I got my lesson and I hope you too.Thank you. --Endly (talk) 11:45, October 6, 2017 (UTC)

Patroller to Content Moderator[]

Hello, can you cast your eye over this forum and give your input? Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 21:16, October 7, 2017 (UTC)

Hey man about the edit Regarding the Hunting Rifle, I do believe you mistook the Action point cost comparison as I was comparing the hunting rifle (F:NV) to the sniper rifle (F:NV) not the Hunting Rifle (Fallout 3)

You know all I did was just change one word in that article... changing slightly to significantly Love, Leniently

Hi there, do you mind if I mention that the Plasma Pistol (F:NV) actually uses double the Action Point cost than the laser pistol?

Excuse me, I must ask again but do you do you mind if I mention that the Plasma Pistol (F:NV) actually uses double the Action Point cost than the laser pistol? (30 AP for Plasma pistol compared to 15 on Laser Pistol) Yours Sincerely ReneFnock

You do realise that before my question... it had already made a comparison... If anything do you just want m to remove it? Because that's fine too

Right....no comparisons... got it Your sincerely ReneFnock

Punctuation[]

To quote the Manual of Style: "The English Wikipedia prefers no major national variety of the language over any other." Additionally, the editing guidelines state that "Fallout Wiki uses all of the same writing conventions found in the Wikipedia: Manual of Style." While it is true that we prefer American English, this only applies to spelling and use of language (as opposed to punctuation) (in my interpretation).
If, however, these arguments are invalid, I think we should refer to a proper source defining our use of English (because Wikipedia's Manual of Style would not be not proper), especially for those cases where American English is ambiguous, or where its ambiguity is ambiguous. I don't particularly care about following the MoS; I just care about having a well-defined standard.

Also, I think you undid two other of my changes that do not apply to American English (admittedly, I did not list these in my edit description): using lowercase 'd' after a slash, and adding a whitespace after the '*' of each list item. Or am I perhaps mistaken here? (That is an honest question, not a passive-aggressive rhetoric question.)

- FDekker talk 03:27, October 9, 2017 (UTC)

My point is that punctuation is not part of grammar, and our guidelines do not conflict with the MoS because they do not explicitly state the quotation rules.
Should I change the editing guidelines to "Fallout Wiki uses all of the same writing conventions found in the Wikipedia: Manual of Style, unless they contradict the guidelines of the Fallout Wiki", and "American English is preferred at this wiki as it is used by most Fallout games"?
- FDekker talk 03:39, October 9, 2017 (UTC)
Punctuation is definitely not a part of grammar, as changing ", to ," does not affect how clauses, phrases, etc. are composed. They are, however, both part of proper language. In hindsight, I do not think that the language section itself is ambiguous, but I think that the sentence "Fallout Wiki uses (...) Manual of Style." should be cleared up to indicate that some of the MoS guidelines contradict those of American English. - FDekker talk 04:01, October 9, 2017 (UTC)
Alrighty then, I'll ask an admin somewhere tomorrow, I'm going to bed now. - FDekker talk 04:28, October 9, 2017 (UTC)

( Had a look myself and the guidelines say language, rather than spelling. For me language would encompass all spelling and syntax, rather than amalgamating rules from two languages. Thought I'd chip in, but you guys want to ask another admin feel free. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 08:14, October 9, 2017 (UTC)

Are you talking to me?

RE:Dead Money Duck and Cover[]

Ah, I was looking at the recent note about it only being obtainable by blowing the hell out of the spot it is in, rather than it being hard to obtain. Makes sense though. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 21:34, October 13, 2017 (UTC)

Floors[]

Hey. How are we supposed to call the floors on the wiki? Am I right with the following?

                 ______
                / \
               /________\ 2 : Third floor
               |________| 1 : Second floor
_______________|________|________ 0 : First floor or ground floor
               |________| -1 : ???
               |________| -2 : ???

Open Season[]

I realize the note I added about taking care with using explosives or firing outside of VATS probably crossed into the realm of gameplay strategy/opinion, but I guess my point was that if Mackenzie Bridgeman was killed while battling in the market you will fail the quest, as happened on my first attempt. Is that type of thing not worth mentioning? ReapTheChaos (talk) 04:16, October 16, 2017 (UTC)

Idaho[]

Question: Why was this edit reverted? Shouldn't Idaho have a capital "i"?
- FDekker talk 00:43, October 18, 2017 (UTC)

Toaster[]

We both adapted this edit to the toaster page at the same time (kind of), but apparently the Wikia conflict detection messed up and failed to detect that my edit conflicted with your edit. After that you completely removed the BTS section. Was this intentional?
- FDekker talk 04:30, October 22, 2017 (UTC)

Oh, that explains it. Apparently Wikia just decided to merge the edits instead of warning me. Alrighty!
- FDekker talk 04:36, October 22, 2017 (UTC)

Zero values[]

I see the point for articles like Welding goggles since they do not provide any protection, but for articles like Security helmet that provide one or two types of protection and not the third I thought it was appropriate to show what kind of protection they provide. I mostly want to normalize all those articles. Some were using 0 values, some were not, some had the variants field not updated... Do you want to remove all the zero values or only the ones for items that do not provide any protection at all? --YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 16:55, October 28, 2017 (UTC)

I'm going to wade in quickly on this with my two cents. Primary interest to most people would be Damage and Energy Resistance, I prefer we are explicit rather than implicit there. Anything else should be ignored if it is zero. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 17:22, October 28, 2017 (UTC)

Ok please help me and answer me this! The answer to this question will set my mind at ease and I can continue with the story. And please a simple yes or no answer please. Re: Quantum[]

Hi Mara. I didn't notice that the notability of Quantum only was in FO3. However, I still do think that it doesn't hurt to have it there. There are many pages displaying it in the notable loot section. From my gameplay hours on the game I rarely find Quantum and when I occasionally do it is often in smaller quantitites. I think it depends on how you see it really. I think we can come to a middle ground on this.

My suggestion would be to set a quantity limit to it. For example if you find 15+ quantums in one place then I'd want to include that, since it is a valuable resource in high quantities. But as already mentioned from my way of looking at it, I actually find quantum to be a notable item to display on a page. Feel free to come with any other suggestions you might have, best regards Jackiboy Logo (talk) 15:54, November 14, 2017 (UTC)

Locks[]

Hey...are we supposed to capitalize the lock designations (Novice, Expert, etc)? I'm good with it either way, but if they are supposed to be capped, there's quite a few pages I've run across that need to be corrected. I was trying to make them uniform with what I'd already seen, but if we're supposed to cap them, I'll go back and change the others. StormRider71 (talk) 19:39, November 26, 2017 (UTC)

For some reason, your revert ignored the second revision on this page and just pulled the one before it. Not sure how that happened.
