Loot[]

Hi there. We only add fixed locations for loot, not random spawns. SigmaDelta54 (Talk) 14:29, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Well for NV BB gun, there's a couple of bullets in loot that lists the BB gun can be found in random toy boxes. I checked those and wasn't a BB gun in it, so I assume it's randomly in some toy boxes. Eddo36 21:16, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Okay thanks for the heads up. Eddo36 (talk) 07:02, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not so sure we should be replacing quotes from people with loading screen tips. I believe that there's a place for loading screen tips, but the {{Quotation}} template is for quoting things *people* say. Let's talk this over with a few more editors before we change any more of them. Also, we probably should discuss whether we should be putting quotes in other sections of the pages, like you did in the characteristics sections. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 02:46, August 21, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, it is just that - we don't include strategies, even placed in Notes. Energy X 15:51, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Links[]

Please stop linking to Loading screen in your quotations. If it's for FNV, the link should look like this: [[Fallout: New Vegas loading screen hints|''Fallout: New Vegas'' loading screen]]. Adding a link in that instance isn't even necessary as there is no page that is actually dedicated to the loading screen (nor do need one); the closest is the page listing the hints (shown above). Thanks. --Skire (talk) 12:44, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Alright won't post them in quote form. How about putting them in Notes section bullets of pages? Eddo36 (talk) 12:51, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
They make good quotes, but the loading screen link is not necessary. --Skire (talk) 12:52, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
Oh I misunderstood your meaning at first. Eddo36 (talk) 12:54, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Loading screen hints[]

I haven't gotten much feedback on the issue yet. I really like the idea of using those hints as filler material on pages. I'm just not sure where it's best to put them. If we use them exactly as they are written, I suppose we could use it as a quote, but it looks a little weird with "from loading screen hints" as the source. We could use the info in the other sections of the pages, but it would probably have to be more narrative to fit the style. Perhaps this is an issue we should take to the community as a whole in the forums. I've got another thing that is somewhat related that I think me help us here. I'll think about making a forum later today. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 19:36, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

I removed one of your quotations on the Mojave Express page. One at the top of the page is enough I think, also otherwise the page becomes scruffy. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:31, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

I think it was better in Background section, since it was pure background information, but I don't care either way. Eddo36 (talk) 20:33, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Quotes[]

You don't have to change every quote to those from the loading scenes. Most of them are fine before. Energy X 16:38, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Alright, I just thought loading screen quotes were less biased/faction-oriented than some other quotes there, but anyways think I got them all anyways. May have missed one or two, I'm sure, but am done looking. Eddo36 (talk) 16:40, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

You could insert on some other pages that miss quotes. Just a suggestion. Energy X 16:41, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Well I don't think there are any other pages, since I think the loading screen quotes (except maybe 1 or 2) are all found and exhausted. Eddo36 (talk) 16:42, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Part of[]

I'm not so sure about adding all those -part of- parameters. If you look at the infobox location template it says that it is used for buildings which are inside a town or districts, not towns/districts inside an entire region. I guess the add-ons can stay (you've done that many already), but don't do the base games. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 12:52, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Eddo. This is the last time I should have to tell you. Please stop making 3-4 edits to EVERY page you come across. ~ Toci ~ Go ahead, make my day. 13:45, September 6, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not too bothered by it. You could do with an edit less per page, but I think the amount of content you add to pages is pretty good. I was suprised so many buildings and leaders for example were still missing in infoboxes of pages and you added a bunch yesterday. Also some good content from the Fallout 3 guide. So that's good. And you're working fast, are very active and know your way around pages while I just noticed you become that active a week ago or so? I'm happy to have you here. Still waiting for The Villa, GhostAvatar's hasn't responded yet. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:03, September 6, 2012 (UTC)
And you're adding background to pages. That's some useful content. For example, where did you find the background about Isla Negra Holdings? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 14:33, September 6, 2012 (UTC)
Alright I didn't know multiple edits were that big a deal. And all those I recently added are from the Prima Offical Game Guide (GOTY edition that covers all add-ons). Eddo36 (talk) 04:16, September 7, 2012 (UTC)

Guide content[]

I believe people are at times removing your edits because they are copy/pasted from the Fallout 3/New Vegas guide and at times contain content that is already included in the article.

Do not copy paste, instead rewrite the information and integrate it with existing content. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 15:24, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah the faction segments of NV were too long to not be considered infringment, so I won't do any more long ones like that. Mother Punga[]

You created a redlinked page for Mother Punga. Does that mean you are going to create a page for it? Don't think it's really worth an own page if you ask me. And I removed the tribal faction from the page. Just some creatures in the Sacred Bog, no tribals. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:26, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Yes I'm about to make the page, something akin to Megaton atomic bomb. And I assumed the tribals owned sacred bog since they use it for new members, but I see going by gameplay instead of lore, there's no tribal member there during the games. Eddo36 (talk) 13:27, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Chance's grave[]

Rather than edit war with you, I want to know that the rationale behind naming Chance's grave as having a Great Khan faction influence. The faction parameter is for factions that inhabit or own the area. As far as I can tell, the place has been deserted with no influence from the Khans (or anyone else for that matter). Saying the Khans control it is a bit of an exaggeration. --Kastera (talk) 23:34, September 12, 2012 (UTC)

If any faction controlled this area, it would actually be the Fiends. ForGaroux Some Assembly Required! 23:35, September 12, 2012 (UTC)
Well my reasoning is that the great khans created the location, so i thought they should be the owners. just maybe (formerly). But either way I don't do edit wars, if you want to change it to what you want then go ahead, it doesn't matter to me really. Eddo36 (talk) 05:42, September 13, 2012 (UTC)

Hey Eddo, I just want to leave this message for all of your contributions to the wiki. You're making it a better place man. Most of the editors that we had here left after the split, so I'm glad to see that there are still people dedicating themselves to this site. Infoboxes[]

Hi, Eddo! I see you doing a great job, but please pay more attention to the technical side of the process. For example {{Infobox_vehicle}}, has no parameters like "merchants" or "owners". Same story was with "mentions" in the infobox faction, but this one already been fixed. If you feel, that infobox may use some additional fields - bring it to an admin or 'crat. TALK - 21:02, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
Hello, Eddo! Firstly, I would like to express how grateful I am to see another eager and active editor around here. (It's been pretty dead around here, lately.) However, I would like to point out something I've noticed that's been bothering me a bit. I've been noticing that you've been guessing at a lot of your edits. Two recent and perfect examples would be to your edit on the Master's army article page, where you removed a sub-section that was legitimate, just because you didn't personally feel as if it belonged there, and then you added ghouls into the Super Mutant Conspiracy page because you were guessing that they were intended targets as well. So please, if you don't know about something 100% while editing, either don't make that edit, or ask someone else who is more informed about the subject. For instance, you can always come to me if you have any Fallout 2 questions. Thanks for reading, and hopefully understanding.

Hmm? No, that's not what I was saying. It's great that you're making so many edits. I was merely stating that you shouldn't guess at your edits.

This place has a sort of charm to it, does it not? ;) Keep up the wonderful work, though. Just know that we do appreciate all of the work you've put into Nukapedia.

Chinese Soldier[]

Hi there, could you please explain your thinking on your recent edit to the Chinese soldier (Operation: Anchorage) page? They are ground soldiers, calling them cannon fodder is silly.--Bunny2Bubble 05:18, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

I understand that, and you're more than welcome to get a second opinion for another administrator if you'd like. For now I'd like it to stay where it is.--Bunny2Bubble 05:22, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
If you really wanted to make the change, I suppose that's fine. Just understand why I didn't feel cannon fodder was appropriate.--Bunny2Bubble 18:26, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

Locations[]

Hi. Please stop adding obscure relative locations (e.g. highway names and road names) to pages. They are mostly unknown by the average player and will provide little to no aid in determining the actual location. Instead, use marked locations or well-known unmarked locations. --Skire (talk) 15:41, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

I understand perfectly. But this wiki is a lot more than that, and so some judgement as to whether or not or how to include the information in individual game guides is essential. --Skire (talk) 15:46, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Vault 34[]

You're a great asset to the wiki, but I'm getting a bit nervous seeing you replace that many background sections with the FNV game guide ones. We need to maintain our own identity and content where we can. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:49, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

plus don't we include only initial stuff in infobox, not those based on player actions?

Where have you read/heard that exactly? I can't find that stated anywhere. Paladin117>>iff bored; 23:53, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

I don't see how that's strategy, it's not like we're telling them that going with that faction is better or something like that. It's just stating that it's possible for the faction to change. Paladin117>>iff bored; 00:08, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

The Pitt Bridge[]

I'm not questioning your sources (anymore). I'm completely agree that in the 21st century it was called "Wabash Bridge", but in the year 2277 it's called "The Pitt Bridge". I think, what we should describe things, as they are at the moment when the game takes place. --Theodorico (talk) 19:49, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

Infobox location[]

Forwarded from Theo's page
Say Theo, I'm still not entirely happy with the addition of creatures/robots to the infobox locations. I think hostile/friendly isn't really needed as people will know a certain creature is hostile or friendly (like deathclaw, cazador, dog). Raider dogs will be hostile, scavenger dog will be friendly. And in case you attack the NCR, NCR guard dogs will be hostile and if you cooperate with the NCR, these dogs will be friendly. So it's not clear to say and also with the Animal Friend things change. So I suggest scrapping the hostile/friendly parameter.

And I have a new suggestion for the header: Other actors. I've taken a look at the GECK at that gave me the idea. All characters and creatures/robots/computers are in the main branch actors. Characters can stay under the people header; creatures, robots, computers go under other actors. And the new parameters will be:

|creatures =
|robots =

What do you think? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:30, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

Forwarded from Theo's page

Theo, I think we should leave it as it is with the creatures and robot parameter. So not robots and computers, that's just a tad too long and would take up two lines in the infobox. Robots will decribe 80% to 90% percent of the possible list is my guess, because mostly it will be robots (looking at the Category:Fallout 3 robots and computers for example). And with AI and other exceptions we can always add (AI). I believe the infobox as it is right now (you just changed it) is good. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:25, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
I've added it to the New Vegas locations project page. If you start, try to do one alphabet letter at a time and checkmark it in the progress table, infobox table. It starts with the individual locations section. Add-ons I've done too. I'll get working on updating the Fallout 3 location project now. Other games are of later concern.
