Ally: Past Expiration is an ally quest for Sofia Daguerre in Fallout 76, introduced in the Wastelanders update.
Background[]
Sofia wants to see Serum Z, of which Serum K is based on, for herself.
Walkthrough[]
Travel to the RobCo Research Center and retrieve serum Z from the exterior cargo bay area, behind the main building, on a shelf inside a cooler. Return it to Sofia to complete the quest.

Serum Z was previously placed at the West Tek research center, with the quest marker leading to its location in the research wing, which was accessed via terminal. The change in location to the RobCo Research Center has been reported since at least November 2022.[1] Given the changes to the West Tek research center with the Steel Reign update, it is possible the alteration occurred as a part of or after that update, though this has not been explicitly confirmed. This quest has suffered from multiple reports of bugs related to Serum Z before and after the location change (see below).
Bugs[]
The quest marker for Past Expiration may become bugged and will not direct the player to Serum Z's location.[2][verified]
Sofia's dialogue to accept Serum Z may become bugged and she will not be available to take the serum and complete the quest. This bug has been reported since Wastelanders's release and before the location change. Scrapping Sofia's ally workshop object may resolve the issue, as may dropping Serum Z from one's inventory, joining a different server, and re-retrieving the item.[3][4][verified]
