Conversion Error is a miscellaneous quest and a "repair robot" Refuge random encounter in the Fallout 76 update Expeditions: The Pitt.

Background[]

One of the workers at The Whitespring Refuge requires help fixing a construction Protectron. Unfortunately, they can't make it on their own, which is where the Vault Dwellers come in.

Walkthrough[]

  • Head into the Refuge and find the construction worker. Talk to them and learn that a construction robot is in need of repairs, and the crew dumped it somewhere in the Refuge to be on the safe side.
    • If the worker mentions the robot going "Kill", Intelligence 5+ allows the player character to ask if they were saying "Kilogram", which will prompt an amusing exchange about socialist conspiracies.
  • The robot will be located in one of the randomly chosen areas inside the Refuge: Common room, kitchen, HQ (near Rucker), western room main floor, the different levels of the west wing, clinic, or the rec room. The worker will explain where they left the robot (and will do it again if the player returns and talks to them again).
  • Once found, the robot will require circuits and fiber optics to fix, a yardstick to teach it, or Intelligence XXX to replace the components. As it turns out, its measurement was set to use metric units instead of imperial.

Quotes[]

[Intelligence+5] Was it saying "kilograms"?

Yeah, that was it! Lenny said that's socialist talk and the 'bot might be a secret commie spy or something.

You did the right thing. We can't take any chances with Communists.

We let 'em nuke the world once already. If we give 'em an inch they'll take the whole nine yards!
