I'm not sure every section really needs a quote on the random encounters article, but can you attribute them to any certain speaker? Such as {{quote|Transcript|Speaker}}? Great Mara (talk) 16:07, February 5, 2016 (UTC)

Edits[]

Mind that using words like "player" or "you" is frowned upon and "player character" or "one" should be used instead. ☢ Energy X ☣ 18:49, May 19, 2016 (UTC)

New pages[]

When creating new pages, mind to use the proper templates, categories and section headlines. Otherwise, others have to correct it for you, all of which takes some time. ☢ Energy X ☣ 17:34, May 22, 2016 (UTC)

East and west[]

Not sure if you're wearing power armor or not, but it might be why you think west is east. The entrance to College Street station is on the Westside of the station and the key is on the same side. Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 20:19, February 12, 2018 (UTC)

Daltons[]

Hey there, just wanted to let you know that your edits to the Cassie Dalton and Ricky Dalton pages were undone because there's no connection between the two aside from their last name, which isn't very uncommon anyway. Tying the two together in such a fashion approaches the line of speculation, which we don't do on the wiki. Additionally, we also don't utilize Trivia sections, instead going for either Notes or Behind The Scenes. LaymansReign (talk) 16:41, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

Shock therapy[]

i appreciate all your work. can you point me to the line about elijah administering electro-shock therapy to christine? i wasn't aware of this plot point and i'd like to cite it myself. thanks in advance -Anachorite (talk) 04:21, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

Upon looking into it further, while Elijah was the cause of Christine being put into the Y-17 medical facility, he did not directly administer the electro-shock therapy, that was in fact the Auto-Docs in the facility itself. One could argue that he did it indirectly, but we're talking directly. It was referenced in Christine's dialogue, #60 - 63. Hope that helps - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 17:50, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

Villa gun cabinet[]

SM gun cabinet Average

Why did you change the difficulty of the Villa gun cabinet from Average to Hard on the Villa page? I just went there and it was Average. See image. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:27, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I cannot show proof for myself since I already unlocked the cabinet in question and I don't have a game save from before that to refer to, but when my Level 25+ character was at the Sierra Madre and I checked that cabinet, it was set to a Hard lock for me. Might have to do with being a higher level than the recommended minimum? FYI, I am playing on Xbox Series X, bought from Game Pass, in case that's relevant. SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 15:33, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Sorry for butting in, but I went to check it myself and the lock difficulty seems to be level dependent. When the character was level 1, the lock was Average. But, when the character was level 50, the lock was Hard. KingBigW (talk) 16:53, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, I was level one and went there with console commands. Let's leave it Hard then, more likely people are of high level. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:54, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Butting in as well here. Question - We know level 1 lock average, level 25,30,50 lock hard (someone tested 30 for me) ... at what level does the lock level change for the cabinet ? I play on xbox and can't check. - AngelaStuff2 (talk) 16:31, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
After testing this with the console command player.setlevel (followed by the level), the lock difficulty changes at level 26, so... levels 1-25 will make the lock Average, while levels 26-50 will make the lock Hard. Also, the lock difficulty changes without reloading the area. Rip to those who leveled up to level 26 and managed to get their Lockpick to 50 just for the lock to jump up to Hard. KingBigW (talk) 17:44, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
I had a suspicion that it was level-dependent when I first came across the original issue that started this thread. Help me modify my FNV playthroughs going forward. Now I'm always starting Dead Money at level 16 on the dot, just so I can be at the minimum requirement and still have a chance to get at least one more perk that might help me out once I take the plunge. SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 18:45, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
Nice catch Skyrim ! Applicable page(s) have been updated. Do any of y'all have access to GECK (or can test with console commands) that you can check the other locked items in FNV DM ... is this the ONLY one that changes based on level ? - AngelaStuff2 (talk) 23:30, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

Great job on the added Interactions[]

Wow, great job on adding all of those skill checks to the respective FNV skills interactions sections ! Looks like it was a lot of work compiling all of that information, you've added loads that were missing. Extremely helpful. - AngelaStuff2 (talk) 13:37, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Your appreciation is also appreciated. I initially used a series of YT videos ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv4b0Yp0-SwVkhd0ueu_-kKXJs45-1ngu ) that also compiled the special skill interactions as reference to make sure this wiki's lists were accurate, but in watching other NV-related videos, I learned that their series too was missing some. So I had to go more in-depth and matter of fact, it was while casually watching Oxhorn's videos that I picked up on some I didn't know about. - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 13:45, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

I'm working on standardizing the different FNV skills pages. In the process, I have found a bunch more possible skill checks to add (on the Barter page only so far, none missing from Energy). I went through and tried to make sure these are all unique i.e. not listed on the Barter page already. I have listed them in a Sandbox page under my profile if you want to check them out and add to the barter page ? The way you worded all the skill check/interactions you have added has been great. I liked how you worded them without giving away what the actual dialog is plus when applicable you've included the name of the quest, other NPCs, location, and more. Here's the Sandbox link, but I don't like this 'dialog only' table format as much at all ... Sandbox. Also, I know some skill checks have more than one way to complete them, which are listed on the skill pages when we know them, but I think some are missing that we can both add as we find them (ex. 40 Barter or 40 Speech to get Lady Jane to...).
(edit: On Barter page...) I took out the radio repair from Trudy discount because it only gives 1 point which isn't enough to move reputation to the next level in any combination of good deeds. In the description paragraphs, I question is this accurate "offset by the Barter skill of the non-player character in question", do you know? I also question the 1:1 ratio discount. First, what does 1:1 ratio even mean? Secondly, I think the discount varies, I don't think it's 1:1 for all of the ones that list 1:1. Third, I've found more merchants that give discounts that aren't listed but I need to do some work on these to figure them out if they are accurate or not (they're on my sandbox page as well under the barter skill checks). - AngelaStuff2 (talk) 07:47, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Perks[]

I reverted most of your edits on perk pages. I don't like you moving the "how to obtain" text towards the effects. It doesn't belong there. You can check back the other text you changed and can update it again, but be careful. This content has stood for years and I'm a bit nervous seeing you change so much. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:27, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Otherwise, thanks for your work. Most of it has stood and we can see you're putting in effort. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 13:42, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Fair enough. I can understand where you're coming from. I have rethought the approach and hopefully the edits I lay on them this next time will be more acceptable. SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 14:37, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

RE: Police Pistol[]

Semi-unique isn't really the right term. That's more for weapons like Elijah's modified LAER, where there's only a handful in the entire game. I'll change the section to make it more accurate. Aiden4017 (talk) 21:12, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

Patroller[]

Hey thanks for your edits the past few months. Are you interested in patroller rights? Moves you up the ladder, makes you more recognizable for others and you can later apply for admin. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:31, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for the consideration. I am certainly interested. What would be required of me in that capacity? - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 16:34, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Just keep doing what you're doing and you're already a long way. You have a somewhat higher exposure with the rights, so I guess you can expect from time to time a question from a new user, who's asking some help with starting to edit, ore even without him/her asking you can advise them. Just say the word and I'll give you the rights. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:20, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Oh yeah, maybe keep an eye a bit on recent changes for bad edits, that where the patroller name comes from. Ño pressure at all though, if you just want to edit, you can do that too. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:22, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Consider me invested. Again, thank you for your consideration. - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 19:01, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

( Do you have a Discord account? If you let me know I can grant you patroller rights there too. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:43, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Had one before, haven't really used it in a long time, don't really do 'social media'. SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 17:42, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Hey there, maybe you remember, maybe you forgot, but I recently came to the decision that I would like to be involved in the Discord side of things. So if that offer to gain patroller rights is still open, I'll be happy to take it. - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 22:04, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Valid Points[]

Lead sections do contain basic information, but also specific and important information. the minutemen's minimal backstory to dying should be important enough, but if you still disagree, then I won't change it. Just my thoughts though; the rest of the big 3 fallout 4 factions have some pretty good lead sections with the smallest being The Railroad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChaosYetChaos (talkcontribs) 18:37, April 27, 2024‎ (UTC). I've also changed it to be even more simpler, like The Railroad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChaosYetChaos (talkcontribs) 18:42, April 27, 2024 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

I was coming here to talk about this as well based on the REPCONN test site cleanup edit, and noticed you guys already discussing it. During the now archived QOL discussion Dec 7 2022 and vote Jan 11 2023, it was decided there was a standard layout for opening/leads, but this was the bare minimum that needed to be included, not the only things allowed to be included at the top. For a super short page, the bare minimum is probably fine. For super long pages, an intro lead is desperately needed (in my opinion). Medium length pages would fall somewhere in between, and perhaps need nothing more or only 1-2 additional sentences (in my opinion). (on another topic skyrim, did you see my reply on Nov 30 ? I've only done barter, energy & explosives so far, I have not added guns thru unarmed to the sandbox yet)
Some things brought up in the leads discussion:
super short leads weren't good for SEO. For some pages the lead is so large it isn't a lead anymore. There's a difference between introducing a topic and summarizing a topic, and a lot of those larger leads aren't introductions like a leads meant to be, they're summaries. For SEO, keep in mind that lede paragraph is what will be pulled by search engines for right-column summary boxes and quick answers. It will also be used for the summary in the normal listings. We should strive to answer all the basic questions as concisely as possible: the who, what, where, when, why, and, if it's short enough, the how. Keep this to 5 sentences or less. Long articles covering topics that appear in multiple games may be formatted as summaries, according to the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Rationale: This is meant to clarify a vague layout guideline and provide a minimum standard to unify our current practice, which is a mix of lore-centric ledes in old articles and game-centric ledes in Fallout 76 articles. The "minimum" criteria is meant to acknowledge larger leading paragraphs without forcing them to be cut down. It's not meant as a replacement for ledes, but a minimum standard. Basically, formalize having the game name in the lead, rather than the year a game takes place in. In-universe information should be included, and then use the game introduction. For example, "Arturo Rodriguez is a weapons merchant in Diamond City in Fallout 4," not "Arturo Rodriguez is a character in Fallout 4".
- AngelaStuff2 (talk) 20:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
A fair assertion, Angela. I have been doing it the way you saw on the REPCONN page for so long with nobody commenting on it, it never occurred that there was another way to do it.
P.S. Yes I did see your comment then, but I wasn't in a place to answer it right away and it kind of slipped my mind afterward - SkyrimsLord13 (talk) 20:09, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
No problem. I know patroller/mod edits don't usually get looked at as carefully (are mod's edits patrolled?). So maybe that's why no one has noticed it (other than ChaosYetChaos above) since you started working on these cleanups about 2 months ago. The only reason I noticed it is the Repconn page is the first one you've done that's on my watch list so it's the first one that popped up for me. I'm so sorry I didn't notice before now! I only had time to look at a couple of the cleanups, but those looked great! Happy I was able to help fill you in on the leads vote, I know since that was before you were promoted you prob had never even seen it. No problem at all about my previous message. I'll circle back around to that hopefully soon and finish making the list of missing checks. My to do list is sooo long and not enough time to do all I want !! - AngelaStuff2 (talk) 11:51, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
