Vault-Boy images[]

I just figured the companion's could use their Vault-Boy images in their gallery. I didn't think there would be any problem with that I will stop if you want me to. LoneGunMenWander (talk) 14:47, November 29, 2016 (UTC)

So you rolled my Bosco bug listing- but this did indeed just happen to me and I can reproduce it. How should I make it verifiable? I have an old save still so I can post a youtube video or upload a save file.Hexrei (talk) 00:45, December 2, 2016 (UTC)

Script Error[]

Hello J! It's Jack, I tried to add Nuka-World as an add-on where raiders appear but now there is a text on the page saying "Script Error", could you fix it please? Here's the page: Raiders. Sorry, best regards Jack. JackiBackiBoy (talk) 22:33, December 2, 2016 (UTC)

Update: I managed to fix the problem, there was a Comma that messed the page up, sorry for disturbing you J. Thank you! JackiBackiBoy (talk) 22:36, December 2, 2016 (UTC)

Re Auto-Loom Image[]

My PC is running a GTX 1080 on UHD in 16:9. It's the first image I've taken since upgrading. Do I need to tone down the file sizes in future or do you have a couple of other bits and pieces you'd like me to get a shot of?

Sakaratte (talk) 23:49, December 2, 2016 (UTC)

Wow, that's a massively powerful videocard. But how did you achieve the 3440*1440 size if you only have a 1920*1080 screen. Ddual screen? Anyway amazing, I'd like to see a few more, you can keep the size, 1,2 Mb is not even that large. I'd suggest you browse the Category:Fallout 4 images and its subcats, find a category you like and replace the poorer quality ones. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:25, December 3, 2016 (UTC)
I just double checked the spec on my monitor as I was surprised that you mentioned I was running in 4k, geforce experience confirms it. I was sold the monitor as UHD not 4k so I'm not going to complain.
Looking at it the Contraptions Workshop has been neglected in some aspects. Might as well carry on where I started.

Survival Mode Effect Columns[]

Hey I would like to know if different food and drink items reduce hunger and thirst at different rates, to justify a "Survival Mode effect" column for Fallout 4 consumables page. I wouldn't be able to check because I'm on console. --Opifex1 (talk) 15:21, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

hope you don't mind if I chime in... they do, it is based on the value of the item, IIRC. "Notable Content" sections[]

Hi J - I will admit I might not be bothered as much if I didn't design interfaces for a living, but I've been coming to the wiki for a while and I find the current "collapsible" presentation of the Notable Content sections a bit confusing, in that the "More..." button is pretty small and appears in a spot where the eye isn't led to it when looking at the end of the list. So I almost invariably think the list only has 5 items, which has bitten me repeatedly both when using articles to play the game and when editing them to improve them.

SOOOOOOO... I'm wondering if it would be relatively straightforward to have the "More..." button (or better yet a second copy of it) appear just below the bottom of the list? That way the eye scanning down the list would be led to the "More" button and one would immediately realize the list had been collapsed. Cattlesquat (talk) 22:15, December 5, 2016 (UTC)

Your opinion[]

Character article layout guidelines[]

In the section Interactions with the player character, isn't Other supposed to be below Effects of player's actions? That's how it seems to be on every character article except Fallout 4, specifically companion pages. I was just wondering if this is what we're doing now or if I can just go through and switch them later when I have time. I've been somewhat busy lately. JMA4269 (talk) 20:31, December 8, 2016 (UTC)

Category missing images?[]

Hello J! I was just wondering if there is any category where pages with missing images are featured? I could only manage to find Category:Stub but because that category only shows stubs in general it's very time consuming to look through everypage there. Eitherway I'm in need of some work that I can spend my time on. So is there is any type of work that is needed please ask me. Thank you! JackiBackiBoy (talk) 14:10, December 9, 2016 (UTC)

White plate page name?[]

Hello J! I recently stumbled upon the page "White plate (Fallout 3)" and took a look at it. What I saw was that the page name is White plate (Fallout 3) but the page contains information and stats about the white plate junk item in New Vegas to. So I then thought that I should make a new page with the name "White plate (Fallout: New Vegas)" but when I do so it says that a page already exists with that name, but that name only redirects to the Fallout 3 white plate page. Or should I just rename the page to whatever? Here's the link to the page: Click here JackiBackiBoy (talk) 15:37, December 15, 2016 (UTC)

Images[]

I think it may have to do with:

  • Screenshot program - I'm using Snagit, which freezes the screen and allows me to just select the portion that I want to keep in the image, so I don't make any adjustments in Photoshop for most photos. Image quality from the program is pretty mediocre, so I'll take any suggestions for other programs.
  • Game resolution - I've been playing on windowed mode, close to 1920x1080 but not there, so I can switch easily between Firefox and the game. I can switch to fullscreen though.
  • Dark places - For dark places like the one that Carlo was in, I end up being forced to turn on the flashlight. I have a mod installed to have that power armor type flashlight instead of the awful Pipboy flashlight. Because it creates a circle in the middle of the screen, I usually crop it so that the image is equally lit, which has a pretty bad effect on quality.

So yeah, I'll make a few changes in procedure and get a new screenshot program if you know any. SierraX (talk) 18:29, December 17, 2016 (UTC)

Things should be better now. I bumped up the graphics, changed to windowed 1920x1080, and put image quality for the screenshot program, which was default set at 90% without me even knowing, to 100%. I'm getting ~1.5 MB shots now. SierraX (talk) 03:48, December 18, 2016 (UTC)

Deleting extra spaces between sentences[]

Why do you bother to do this? Wikia collapses all spaces between words to a single space on display. You can see this yourself by making a test page with both single-spaced and double-spaced periods, then letting wikia display it and doing a copy/paste into a text editor to see both are single-spaced when shown to users.

Heck, I'll give you a sample here: "This sentence ends with a period and one space. This sentence ends with a period and two spaces. Copy and paste this block to an editor and count the results."

You're wasting your own time on these pointless edits. Felice Enellen (talk) 14:35, December 21, 2016 (UTC)

Not that it really matters very much, as long as you're consistent, but technically you're actually _creating_ a grammar issue, rather than correcting it. Since we can only see multiple spaces when we're in the editor, and since the editor uses a mono-spaced font, the correct format in this context is actually two spaces, not one.
Most people aren't aware that the spacing rule is conditional: Text written with mono-spaced fonts calls for two spaces, whereas text written with proportional fonts calls for one space. This is because mono-spaced fonts include a lot of whitespace between letters and using two spaces between sentences helps to visually separate them for easier reading. Proportional fonts pack their glyphs together much more tightly, so they only require a single space to set sentences apart.
The Wikia system is surprisingly compatible with these rules, since using two spaces in the editor is good for mono-spaced editing and reading, and then on display, Wikia switches to a proportional font and collapses it to one space. Felice Enellen (talk) 16:19, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

NotY[]

- Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 21:19, December 23, 2016 (UTC)

Robot Images[]

I create most of my transparent images by hand, I use Photoshop CC with the built in Pen tool. When the background only consists of a plain white background or a single colored background however, I use the magic wand tool or the quick selection tool. To make my images come out more alive I add some feathering to the edges of the object. It makes the edges look more smooth but also makes it look more bright around the edges. The pen tool exists in many different softwares if you wan't to try it. But thank you for liking them, after christmas I'll probably upload a few more I have pending. But again Thank you! Best regards JackiBackiBoy (talk)

Robot Images #2[]

Yeah, I'm taking them from in game with the white test room mod, which allows for easier background removal. A downside is that the lighting in the cell desaturates colors, but I've started fixing that by bumping contrast to +35 and vibrance to +20 in Photoshop. I would like to use the Christmas/New Year-wishes-tradition, to thank those around me who kept this wikia and daily life more fun for me during the past year. Everything just seems so normal and evident that we are here almost every day, yet it's very worthwhile to consider for a moment how wonderful it is to have people like you around me, making editing and being on chat a lot more enjoyable. I would also like to use this opportunity to wish a happy and healthy new year for you and everyone around you who is dear to you. Small userbox fix needed[]

[FIXED]

This isn't anything terribly important, but just noting: if you place the userbox "User Fallout 3" or "User Fallout: New Vegas", you see this:

Gametitle-FO3This user is knowledgeable about Fallout 3.
Gametitle-FNVThis user is knowledgeable about Fallout: New Vegas.

Which are correct. However, placing "User FO3 Add-ons" as opposed to "User FNV Add-ons" produces this:

Operation Anchorage logoThis user owns Operation: Anchorage.
The Pitt logoThis user owns The Pitt.
Broken Steel logoThis user owns Broken Steel.
Point Lookout logoThis user owns Point Lookout.
Mothership Zeta logoThis user owns Mothership Zeta.
Gametitle-FNV DMThis user owns Dead Money.
Gametitle-FNV HHThis user owns Honest Hearts.
Gametitle-FNV OWBThis user owns Old World Blues.
Gametitle-FNV LRThis user owns Lonesome Road.

Thus the difference being that with FO3 Add-ons, "This user owns Fallout 3" appears, but not with FNV Add-ons. In my opinion these should be made consistent, such that placing all four above named user box entries does not contain repeated information ("This user owns FO3" and "This user is knowledgable about FO3"), or such that both add-on user boxes contain the "This user owns <game>".

Thanks - NomadMC (talk) 15:57, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the fix and FO4 add-on userbox! NomadMC (talk) 23:47, December 26, 2016 (UTC)

Getting sick of your crap[]

Stop undoing edits without even giving them some thought or research. This is twice in two days you've made erroneous undoes on my changes. Knock it off. Felice Enellen (talk) 15:56, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

I don't care what the 4-letter code in the header of the form says. If we're going by those, then all holodisks and notes should be in the "Book" category. What matters is how the game plays, and how a user intuits the item categories.
I swear to god, you are the perfect example of the saying, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." Felice Enellen (talk) 16:08, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
Edit: You know what? Congrats. Like a lot of other editors I see come and go when they discover what an ass you can be about edits, I'm done here. If you don't like my contributions and you're going to use your position as bureaucrat to keep forcing your opinion on me, I can take a damned hint. Enjoy your little empire on the internet. Power armor map marker[]

Hello Js! I've wanted to upload local maps to various locations in the game but there has always been one obstacle, and that obstacle is the power armor map marker. You may have already noticed that power armor map marker on some of my older local map uploads, and you may have experienced it yourself to. So my question is how exactly do I get rid of it. I've tried everything. Various mods, console commands, equpping it to companions, nothing exactly nothing has fixed it. The only way I have found that will remove it is if you never enter any power armor at all, which isn't possible because at some point in the game you will need to use power armor. So how did you get rid of it? Thank you in advance! Best regards: JackiBackiBoy (talk) 16:25, December 31, 2016 (UTC)

I don't wear it, but the map marker of the power armor still exists in the location I last exited it. For example if I exited it in Sanctuary Hills, then that map marker will be placed in sanctuary hills.

I will try that, but yes the power armor marker shows up on the last location i exited it. And yes adding notable loot is my main goal with the local maps, but it really can't be done without that stupid map marker. Thanks! JackiBackiBoy (talk)

Hi again! Thank you for helping Js, as you may have seen I've already uploaded 2 local maps, they are very minor, so see them as a test. I know that I can't get rid of the power armor map marker, but I'll have a "Local Map" save where I only take screenshots on local maps. Again, Thank you! Best regards: JackiBackiBoy (talk) 17:36, December 31, 2016 (UTC)
I'll remove them if you want, or change them. Though I'll probably focus more on adding notable loot and such to the local maps that already exist. The boxing gym one, I can agree one was shit. I'll remove that one.

Local maps[]

My only question is rather or not I should replace the local maps you have uploaded, you told me that I should upload one version that is plain and one with all the notable loot, so that the interwikis then can use those later. But if you have uploaded one that already is plain, should I upload a new one like I did on ArcJet Systems? JackiBackiBoy (talk) 20:45, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

In my opinion the Cutout disambig page should be changed such that the eight variants are merged into one; thoughts on this? If you disapprove just undo any edits I've done. Thanks - NomadMC (talk) 23:27, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks - I actually was looking at Flag and wondering why Cutout wasn't similar, so I had that in mind too. NomadMC (talk) 00:02, January 2, 2017 (UTC)
Lol, I was just starting to put a redirect on Alien when you finished with the redirects.. Welp guess that fixes that page

Settlement objects[]

Hey, I just wanted to check in on what we should be doing for settlement objects. I was thinking of something similar to the layout of Fallout 3 and New Vegas miscellaneous world objects, with a table containing the name and ID, transparent image, description/notes, and requirements, as opposed to an individual page for each object. The section headings can be based on the classification within the workshop menu (e.g. Structures > Wooden > Prefab). Let me know what you think. SierraX (talk) 05:35, January 2, 2017 (UTC)

Can you check if there's pre-War objects at the end of the Furniture > Chairs section? I once had a bunch of settlement object mods installed, but I uninstalled them. Nexus Mod Manager says they're disabled, but I just want to make sure that I'm not adding stuff from mods to the page. Among the chairs section are 9 clean chairs, identical to one another apart from color. If you could verify that they're there in your game, then I can stop being paranoid. Thanks. SierraX (talk) 19:58, January 2, 2017 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. SierraX (talk) 01:08, January 3, 2017 (UTC)
Also, just wondering if settlement object and world object pages should be together. There's already existing pages for things such as Toolbox, which have appeared in previous games as world objects, and I'm not sure whether to create another page or put the crafting on the existing one. SierraX (talk) 18:36, January 3, 2017 (UTC)
On second thought, a separate page might be better because for things such as pool tables, the only option is a separate page since it redirects to the New Vegas world objects page. SierraX (talk) 18:41, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Mirelurk Revert[]

Hey, I'm just wondering what the reasoning behind reverting the name capitalisation was on the Mirelurk page. I've checked the Creation Kit and the names are showing in all capitals so the change made the titling consistent with the game itself. Sakaratte (talk)

Ludicrous[]

Shane for Wax's edits are getting beyond ridiculous. I shouldn't have to spend hours of my time babysitting one user's bad edits. He's contantly

  1. Inserting unneeded Oxford commas into articles, despite even the most common American English style guides stating to omit it unless confusion would be caused without it.
    1. He does this just to be a pain in the ass, apparently. Judging from his more smartass edit summaries. "Oxford commas save lives," for example.
  2. Moving punctuation marks outside of quotations despite American English requiring them to be inside the quotations.
  3. Capitalizing words that shouldn't be capitalized or lowercasing things that shouldn't be lowercase.
  4. And on what edits he does get right, he completely ignores things like strategy, second-person and speculation that needs to be handled. He may as well be edit boosting.

I am getting extremely tired of having to watch every single edit they make. Great Mara (talk) 19:22, January 2, 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your time on that. Regarding the Minuteman outfit page however, I still must disagree with that capitalization. When referring to the Commonwealth Minutemen organization it should be capitalized, but when referring to the individual members of the Minutemen the word should be lowercase as with other titles, such as doctor, soldier, overseer, etc. Great Mara (talk) 01:29, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Structure Page[]

I already spoke to User:SierraX about this as I don't want to go all in to have a large amount of work revented and he suggested a second opinion. Would I be able to get input on an idea I had for the Structure's page with regards to the layout of each category (thought I'd ask as you have done a fair bit with the photography for it). I was thinking of keeping the Category as the header, the using a 4 column table to show sub category, structure name, components required noteable information and Base ID (from feedback). I've put an example on Talk:Structure so it can be reviewed. Sakaratte (talk) 04:34, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Red links[]

Since Nukapedia has more of an active community, I have a story that I will be writing here, since I'm looking for critique.

I'm going ahead and telling you this, because I don't want you to be concerned by the red-links that I'll be generating. I have a transient method of writing, establishing links before supplementary pages are actually formed (so that I know what pages I need to put thought into creating), and I know you would appreciate the heads-up, and my assurance that the links will be filled, and won't be left in limbo. 寧靜 Fox 18:26, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Hypocrite[]

I have to say I literally laughed out loud to see you say I should make my own edits and not pay attention to others', when you had just replied without prompting to my talk-page conversation with another person. You clearly look at all of my edits and, as far as I can tell, look for any possible reason you can find to revert them.

I already told you I'm giving up editing because of your behavior. You think I don't spend half an hour, an hour, or more, on the edits you so glibly undo? Sorry, I don't want to waste my time improving the wiki when it all comes to naught on your little unilateral whims.

I guess I don't blame you for not liking me. I am the one who threatens your lazy attitude towards edit quality and your obvious edit-spamming/edit-boosting. But that doesn't excuse your behavior. You act all innocent and calm, but you're just a little tyrant on a power trip.

You don't deserve that award they gave you. I swear, no one else must look at your edits. Your edits look like the kind the patrollers scold people for. I don't say you don't contribute useful content, but you're clearly abusing the system in the process in order to achieve acclaim and glory.

I say again: that award is not deserved.

I estimate your legitimate edit count at maybe 20-30,000, tops. High, for sure, and respectable in its own right, but when compared to your actual edit count today, it really questions your motives. Then take into account the people you alienate from the wiki. Would you really be contributing 90% of the content if you didn't put other people off of contributing anything at all? Felice Enellen (talk) 18:32, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Transparency[]

So you mean that they should look like this: Click here The sides are closer upon the object this time. JackiBackiBoy (talk) 22:42, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Earlier today I tried doing that but for example the cowboy one got very small if compared to the other ones. Because the cowboy one features 5 objects instead of one the images with single objects become much bigger JackiBackiBoy (talk)

UPDATE: I've now tried back and forth with the gallery on the Cutout page. The result is pretty good, but as mentioned the size between the images vary a bit. But to make the gallery better I've categorised the images after size in the gallery so that the images featuring more than 2 objects are placed on the same row. same goes for the other images. You can change however you want. You can take a look at it though. Best regards: JackiBackiBoy (talk)

Deletion of pages[]

Hello J! As you may have noticed there has been quite a few garbage pages added this week, for example the Nuka World Triumvirate page created by Delta Hunter and the Overboss page. Coward[]

It's twice now that I've told you I'm discouraged from editing here because I know you're looking for any arbitrary reason to revert any edits I make. I see far shittier edits go through and remain, and frankly many of them are from you.

Do you really have nothing to say about that? Are you fine with alienating editors? I'm not the first, not by far. I've looked through your talk page history. Your insistence that everything on the wiki be done exactly your way and no other, and in fact, as far as I can tell, your insistence that everything on the wiki be done by you, or by people who literally follow your orders, drives people away from here.

Do you ever look at the edit history? It's 90% you, with a few of the patrollers and admins added in, and the very occasional new user or IP address foolishly trying to intrude on your domain. Not many come back. A few come back and edit spitefully, vandalizing pages. That's almost certainly your fault, by the way... do you ever consider that some of the work the patrollers have to do in reverting vandalism is because your arbitrary, protectionist whims pissed off yet another user?

This is a WIKI. It is not your personal project. A wiki is edited by the community, NOT ONE MAN.

You really are a coward, shooting arrows from your little tower at anyone who approaches it. Felice Enellen (talk) 17:44, January 5, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Oxford Comma[]

1. Usually when I get there, the spaces are where they were, I don't change them. I only go so far as shortening the article the way it should be by only deleting the 'stub' coding. But I'll keep an eye on where I put the spaces in the future. In fact, on some articles I've gone in and put spaces where there needed to be especially when it comes to adding the list code (aka the asterisk plus whatever).

2. The Oxford comma is used exactly for lists in order for them to make better sense/prevent confusion about who is being spoken of. "Amanda found herself in the Winnebago with her ex-boyfriend, an herbalist and a pet detective." reads far more differently than "Amanda found herself in the Winnebago with her ex-boyfriend, an herbalist, and a pet detective." In the first, it sounds like just one person or two depending on how you read that example. In the second, it's much clearer that it is 3 different people. Either way, there's a reason the edit note often says 'petty Oxford comma'. Most of the time when it's a simpler listing such as flavors or the like, so long as it wouldn't be confusing (such as "strawberry, cherry and vanilla flavoring" versus "strawberry, cherry, and vanilla flavoring") I let it be. Doubly so if I can't remember/tell what was meant to be said.

I shall keep the layout stuff in mind though. Thus spoke Shane for Wax (talk) 17:15, January 6, 2017 (UTC)

Chat spam[]

Gunny appears to be AFK, and I couldn't see any other admins that are currently active. However I wanted to report this happening in chat (it's also quite empty so if you joined now you would likely load up and see the end lines of it). This user was also recently blocked from the CoD wiki for vandalising pages, so I figured I'd pass it on as I do no know if the situation will escalate if not reported.

Patroller Request - NomadMC[]

Thus the following is a request for Patroller on Fallout Wikia.

As a potential patroller, I would promise to:

  • Patrol pages in general
  • Look for grammatical/syntax/Wikia formatting errors on new pages, random pages, and on Category:Attention Required pages.
  • Glance through edits made by anonymous users, and all users when extra time is available, to look for malicious/incorrect editing to be reverted.
  • Nominate pages for deletion that need deleted; merge pages that need merged; etc.

If it is decided that I do not currently fit the requirements for Patroller, then I will still continue to do the above stated things. If I do obtain Patroller, I promise not to lay off on editing (as many do when they receive a staff rank).

Thank you for your time, have a very nice day and keep up the edits, no matter what the other guys say around here.

P.S. - no offense, on your user page you have Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 - that's technically the Lifetime Achievement Award 2016.

Thanks, I'll keep 'em up NomadMC (talk) 18:57, January 7, 2017 (UTC)

Holotape images reply[]

I agree with you that I should preferably stick as close as possible to the original ambient lights and such, but on some pages I had to actually adjust lighting and quality. For example on Pissed off guy's note and Good looking guy's note page, the original image was way to dark, and to clarify which one of the notes it is (because they are located beside eachother) I've added a red box around the specific note with naming, so that it's easier to identify which note is which. As for the local maps, I'm glad to see that you've decided to actually upload all the local maps, even though many of them are very small. By the way Js, you may have noticed I also uploaded some images for the variants on the Junkbot page, I still have some work left with variants on enemies in game though, it would be very much appreciated if you could with your skills with the Creation Kit, maybe find all the ID's for variants. Right now I'm having trouble with finding ID's for all Nuka world factions, like the Operators for example. If you could supply me with the ID's that currently don't exist here on the wiki, I could actually finish this little project of mine faster. Best regards: JackiBackiBoy (talk) 15:48, January 8, 2017 (UTC)

I saw the ID's you supplied the Operators page with, thank you for taking your time Js, it really helps. But do you want me to upload the variant images one-by-one, or should I take my time with every image and then upload all of them at the same time? I'll start right away with taking the screenshots though. Best regards, JackiBackiBoy (talk) 18:33, January 8, 2017 (UTC)
I think I'll upload the images one-by-one if there are many variants, but if there only is maybe 2-4 variants, then I'll probably upload them all at once. Thank you for the feedback Js, as for the holotapes however I will try to have the images as close to original as possible. Best regards, JackiBackiBoy (talk) 18:40, January 8, 2017 (UTC)

Base ID problems?[]

Example Talk Operator

One of the ID's you've listed on the waster variant on the Operators page seems to be wrong or something, when I write player.additem (ID) it spawns in as a Operator Waster but the armor and loot is equivalent to what a normal Raider should wear, same goes for the other ones. They spawn with the right naming but they don't look anything like a Operator, no armored skirt or anything, the normal variant seems to work okay but the waster variant and the other ones don't look at all like a operator. The example image is on the right, you can probably see what I mean. JackiBackiBoy (talk) 19:04, January 8, 2017 (UTC)

Mass Fusion ID[]

Thanks for the info J. I was actually thinking about all the pages I've seen with stuck quest items and wondering if I did the right thing by leaving the console command info in there. Makes sense not to as it is a forgone conclusion for PC players to use console commands, and that same info is completely useless to all others. StormRider71 (talk) 00:20, January 9, 2017 (UTC)

Location infobox:type[]

Hey. I've seen Lionheartedcat edit a lot of FO4 locations and especially "unmarked" ones and locations that are part of a bigger location, like the shops and buildings in the Diamond City market. On most her edits she set the field type with the value section. I think we should use building for most and keep section for some rare cases (like open air shops). Can I get your point of view on this? One example is the Science! Center.
--YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 15:45, January 9, 2017 (UTC)

Ok I saw what the door looks like and I agree it's not looking amazing when superposed on the image. I also had tried the Wikia app and I abandoned the idea to use the categories on the app, most location categories are way too specific and long to reach. We may need to update the system if we want the app navigation to be nicer. --YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 16:55, January 9, 2017 (UTC)

Rename image[]

Hi, I added two images to the Gauss rifle page and spelled "Gauss" wrong (Guass). I can't see a way to rename them, but I don't think it's a problem unless someone wants to search for pictures of Gauss rifles. JMA4269 (talk) 20:51, January 11, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm working on more. I was tired of making them because of the software I had, but I got a new one which makes the job much faster and in better quality. I'm eventually going to upload new versions for some of the infobox images that are choppy, but I think I still have a hard time getting the canvas size right. Reply Local Maps Diamond City[]

Hello Js! I've uploaded a few new local maps for the housing in Diamond City, you can look at them, you'll probably find them in the recent activity tab. I think that this time they match what you want. :) Best regards, JackiBackiBoy (talk) 15:58, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

Actually no, I have the PC for it but it's just that on one of my first saves ever I have like 50+ mods, so playing at ultra takes down the FPS a ton, but because I don't really have any other mods than very minor ones installed nowadays I could do that. By the way, when you say "breathing space" do you mean like the one I uploaded a few minutes ago on All Faiths Chapel page? In my opinion that one turned out fine. Thanks for letting me know! Expect better quality on the next ones! JackiBackiBoy (talk) 16:16, January 13, 2017 (UTC)
For me uploading them in PNG format offers the highest quality possible for me, JPG format works fine with images containing text and numbers but for these smaller maps I'll continue to upload them in PNG format. JackiBackiBoy (talk) 16:23, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

So, I've set the options to the highest quality possible in Fallout 4 and you might see how much clearer and less "pixely" the images look, the first one I've uploaded with these settings on is the one featured on Arturo's house page. JackiBackiBoy (talk) 16:38, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

Should this be on the talk?[]

I've just seen the most recent comment on Talk:Merchant by user:58.7.100.224 and from how it reads it seems more like a user who wanted to vent about an edit they made that was unrelated to the article at hand than being relevant to the article itself. Thought I'd flag it incase it needs to be looked at. Sakaratte (talk) 18:03, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

Edit: There actually appears to have been a bit of an edit war on Mirelurk (Fallout 4) and that appears to be what it stems from. Sakaratte (talk) 18:15, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

Progress Local Maps[]

I've now spent a good amount of time on all of the local maps in Diamond City and all the buildings and sections in Diamond City now have a local map. I'll continue to add loot and terminals etc. To all of the existing local maps and also add new ones for the pages that don't have one. Just wanted to let you know of my progress on the maps. If possible, could you add the exact locations for all the other notes and such to the existing local map on Valentine Detective Agency location? Some loot can only be found in a specific quest or after a certain time so keep that in mind if you decide to place out the locations of the loot in that specific location. Best regards, JackiBackiBoy (talk) 15:50, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

Hubologists[]

Caps[]

Hey. Thanks for the new icon on the armor infoboxes, I was thinking of it but I didn't want to jump into the templates.

I created the mini-nuke component pages with the capped names only because they were the in-game names and they were a bit different from the usual denomination (MiniNuke XYZ instead of Mini Nuke XYZ). I ended up finding the pages already exist so I changed everything to redirects.

It's not too hard to beat your edit count when you're on slow-mode ;) I also happen to have a lot of time on my hands those days.

Do you know if there's a way to directly take images from the sister wikis? The Russian one has some great location images and I'm wondering if the only way to get them is to download them on my computer and then re-upload. --YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 15:05, January 20, 2017 (UTC)

Also, why should “pre-war countries” be spelt with a capitalized “W”?
We don’t capitalize “war” outside the names of wars. “War” is not a proper noun. The Great War is capitalized, but when referencing the word “war” only, it is not capitalized. The same goes for real-life alternatives, like World War II. Capitalizing just the “w” in hyphenated words is grammatically incorrect, and it also looks awkward.
Here are some examples:
“I remember the time before the Great War.” / “The war was awful.”
“There is still a lot of pre-war currency lying around.”[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 16:08, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

Nuka-World terminal images[]

Hello Js! A couple of months back you gave the all the images you've used for the different terminal models in the base game Fallout 4 (apart from the Institute one) but as you may know in the Nuka-World add-on a new terminal model was added, the Prize terminal. I tried cropping one out by myself to add it to local maps, it is only featured on the Nuka-Cade local map. But I've seen that yours seems to be more clear and more vibrant, looks to be from the creation kit or something, no shadows or anything, just plain red. For example on this local map the terminal is visble: Local map Welcome Center Where have you found that terminal model image I must ask? If you have it please send it to me. Would be much appreciated because I'm currently fixing up some of the local maps for Nuka-World, adding notable loot, terminals, etc. Best regards, JackiBackiBoy Fighter Jet (talk) 16:22, January 31, 2017 (UTC)

Notable content[]

Hey, I was wondering about where the notable content template is to be applied. I'm aware that it is used on location pages to reduce the length of the loot section for some bigger locations, and I know it's used for a bug section that's too large, but is it also meant to be used on other occasions, like for the list of locations where you can find objects? Why did you delete Template:Expand? It is not the same as Template:Section; {{section}} is for empty sections, whilst expand is for sections that have some—but not enough—content. Texture Pack Image[]

Totally agree with you, the image is legit though, it is present in the "add-ons" tab in the main menu of Fallout 4, I couldn't find it anywhere else so I just took a screenshot then I cropped it out, as you can imagine cropping out a object that take up about 100-250px of the screen makes everything on it very unsharp and low detailed. And so as a result the sharpness and general quality sucks. Do you know where the images for the add-ons are actually from? I tried to find a high resolution image of the cover art for the High Resolution Texture Pack but as mentioned I only found the cover art in the main menu tab "add-ons". This category shows all the main add-on cover images: Click Here. If a image like that could be found for the high resolution texture pack it would really help. If you know where exactly these images are found then please leave a message on my talk page.

Main Menu Add-On Tab

Just to show you some further evidence of the existence of the cover art for this texture pack here is a image from the "add-ons" tab.

As you can see there is indeed a cover for the texture pack, if a high resolution image could be found on the cover (like the images for all the other add-ons) it would be much appreciated. So, this message was just to let you know the reason for the low quality image and to ask you about where all the other cover images for the add-ons come from. Thanks for taking your time. Factions[]

Is there anywhere I can find a defined list of what we do and do not consider a faction? Saves making another slip up in future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sakaratte (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Thanks for the clarification. I'd mentally considered super mutants as interchangeable between race and faction based on their behaviour between games as they all stem from separate sources and work as a unit (except fallout and new Vegas where the night kin stem from Mariposa as form the Master's group). GECK Question[]

Thanks for getting back to me, most of the information in there makes a lot of sense. If anything its the items like caps and food I'm having trouble with. I was looking at Mackenzie Bridgeman specifically as she appears to have gaps in her inventory list. Is it just a case of hitting preview calculated result in inventory for each listed item to pull the total carried ie 1 tato, 1 gumdrops, 1 sweetroll and 10caps (LLI_Weapons gives 1 Tato and 4 caps, and LLE_Pockets gives 1 Gumdrops, 1 Sweetroll and 6 caps) or is it a bit more intricate than that? Sakaratte (talk) 02:11, February 20, 2017 (UTC)
The idea of having a list elsewhere for items like "x packaged foods from ...." would become a cumbersome list of probabilities for readers to work through, especially if you have several packages (MacKenzie has 2 of these: Basic and Packaged) so would we want the lists to be collapsible (collapsed by default) to make it easy reading? The other issue we would have is if we do a list of items in one group we would eventually end up having to do them all resulting in a lot of pages.
I had a look at GECK (F03) and I was seeing similar sorts of packages in there as well. I'm wondering if we can use a template to allow fast and standardised listing with breathing room to expand to other games in the series. I'm not 100% on the feasibility as I've never created one before.

Hey Jspo, can you rollback the vandalism on Fallout Wiki:Fallout 4 settlement objects project for me? I'd manually do it if it were one change and I wasn't on my phone. I've messaged Sierra as well, but it's still fairly early over his way. Sakaratte (talk) 13:40, February 20, 2017 (UTC)

Done. --YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 13:44, February 20, 2017 (UTC)

Wiki medals[]

Hi, J!

I'm one of the bureaucrats in the Brazillian Fallout wiki, i've been updating wiki medals/achievements, would help a lot if you gave me names and images for them so i can use'em in the pt_br wiki (i don't know if you do these type of thigs).

Thanks for the attention!

ps.: Sorry if my english sucks, it's not my main language

Archive policy[]

Hi. I was wondering what the archive policy was, as I’ve forgotten.

How many posts do you have to have on your talk page (or how big does the page have to be) in order to be allowed to archive discussions?[Template fetch failed for https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Template:papi?action=raw: HTTP 404] 09:02, February 23, 2017 (UTC)

Havent been here in a while[]

And holy heck has your edits jumped up. Anyways, just dropping by to say that you are insane, and that soon Atvelonis will overtake me on the OTHER bethesda games wiki - and he will get the impossible task of trying to overtake you. (And keep being awesome). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 11:25, February 23, 2017 (UTC)

Wait ... someone has MORE than you? What?? Also... do you mean to say you dont use bots (at all?) There goes my sanity :p And yes, I am active - but its painfully slow work updating. (We have few editors with Elder Scrolls Online :( ) TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 20:39, February 23, 2017 (UTC)
Well... I did assume you were purely because of the number of edits. (Which is still crazy) If its all manual - then SUPER credit to you. Even if my edit rate hadnt dropped due to kids and work, no way would I ever have reached that. *Bows to the spamediting master. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 21:49, February 23, 2017 (UTC)

Reply Acadia Faction[]

I just got the ID for the characters and then used player.placeatme (ID) and then applied tai so that they don't move around. Then I adjusted how close they are standing with one another with the modpos command. The only hard part is to get them to face the correct way. The way I managed to get them to face the correct direction is that I look in the direction I want them to face and then use player.placeatme (ID), and then finally tai. Thanks, best regards, JackiBackiBoy Fighter Jet (talk) 20:43, February 23, 2017 (UTC)

Like Jack, I used modpos to get them close together, but then setangle to get them to face the right way. SierraX (talk) 00:46, February 24, 2017 (UTC)

Nukapeadia achievement paths glitch?[]

I noticed from the recent activity that I somehow managed to pick up the Giddyup buttercup achievement twice from editing the Liberty prime and courser articles. It makes sense I picked it from the Liberty, but Courser it seems odd. I checked the page a second time and there is no fallout 3 robots and computers category in the category list.

I was editing from mobile rather than desktop at the time so I don't know if that's caused the glitch (I've seen another issue with the images on the Eyebot article). Any ideas what's caused it? Sakaratte (talk) 10:54, February 26, 2017 (UTC)

Chinese assault rifles & FNV[]

- Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 01:48, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

Silver locket[]

Isn't there another antique silver locket tied to the quest Returning the Favor (Abernathy Farm)? All the links on the page are going to Antique silver locket and I remember I had doubts about that info a while ago. --YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 00:45, March 1, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. While I'm there, can we remove the "Repairman" line from the FO4 interaction boxes? I'm talking about this.--YOD ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ 01:03, March 1, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Various[]

I read up on the notable loot police again after I saw the edit by yourself, just so I'd be clear going forwards. I have a couple of questions though.

1 - In all the other games I wouldn't count bottles as notable as they don't do anything, but are an item that players may well be hunting for in Survival mode. Would that make them notable?

2 - What is the reasoning for bobby pin boxes not being notable? They are a fairly rare find and I think they are very much a finite item in game (I don't recall them respawning or being available for purchase at vendors.

As for pack of cigarettes, I didn't realise it was there after I tried to link to it. It didn't even cross my mind that it would be written in the possessive way. At least the redirect will prevent that for the future. Sakaratte (talk) 09:16, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

Ah, that makes sense, I see the boxes so sparingly that I thought they were note worthy. I had been speaking to YoD about the Jamaica Plains objects as the duplication did bother me even before I put it up. I'll get to rejigging it now in my sandbox before moving it over.
With regards to layout, would it be of value to state which area is which display for navigational purposes, without the subsection? Sakaratte (talk) 20:31, March 2, 2017 (UTC)
All done, there are still 20 odd misc items listed (these uniquely marked with DN070 in the CK) so I don't know if we wanted to use the notable content template for this. It looks much cleaner than what I did before. Sakaratte (talk) 20:53, March 2, 2017 (UTC)
I've changed it again in my sandbox, before replacing the article this time as I'm still not 100% on if I've cracked it. The main reason is that there isn't really anything of note in the Science and Medical section, but it might be confusing/look inconsistent to readers without so I left it in. If you're happy with it I'll replace the relevant sections. Sakaratte (talk) 21:12, March 2, 2017 (UTC)
I've moved it over now. I noticed when I was cleaning up the linked to items that the reporter's pen can be found in a large quantity in the institute, should it be taken out the notable loot section? Sakaratte (talk) 23:24, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

Fisherman[]

He is fixed in one location cutting fish, how do I move him? DisgustingWastelander 23:19, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

  • Alright, I think I have figured it out now. Added the picture now. --DisgustingWastelander 23:37, March 2, 2017 (UTC)

Icons and misc items[]

With the {{Icon}} template when listing locations should we be including the |link = section every time I use it in the locations list or just the once on the first iteration? I can see I've already caused an issue with my linking for crafting and don't want to crate anymore work. I'm currently going through all the pages again to check the locations so would you like me to change them as I go along for the ones you haven't done to avoid potentially overwriting one another? Sakaratte (talk) 17:40, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the confirmation. I've finished looping through and switched the last few. You caught most of them before I messaged you. Sakaratte (talk) 21:49, March 4, 2017 (UTC)
