Background[]
According to Overseer Benjamin, this creature was his maternal great-uncle Peter, who became a gulper due to the genetic modification experiments conducted by the Vault-Tec scientists who originally ran Vault 4.
Benjamin further claims that Peter killed the original Vault leaders Cassandra and Lloyd Hawthorne, as recorded in the Hawthornes' final log.

It is possible that Peter was either a human who was mutated into a gulper by the experiments or a gulper born directly from a human subject, as seen with the recording of Subject 476; Benjamin does not specify.
