44F - The Last Station: Kallavan (8): This is the three hundred and thirty-fourth chapter of Volume 2 of Tower of God. It follows the battle at the Last Station, with Yuri protecting Baam, who agrees to stop fighting and escape.
Synopsis[]
As Baam activates the second Thorn Fragment, its shell peels off revealing its true power. This display of power surprises Androssi, but Yuri does not think he will be much of a help against Kallavan, so she moves him to safer position. Yuri attacks Kallavan using the Green April, which make Kallavan question if Yuri is truly a traitor, which Yuri responds that it is not up to Kallavan to decide. However, Baam wants to fight Kallavan, so he pierces his body with the Thorn, releasing its power into Baam. While Yuri is fighting Kallavan with her rose Shinsu, Baam enters the fight to Yuri's dismay. Kallavan, pleased that Baam is not a coward that runs away, wants to "know" the reason why Jinsung sacrificed himself. Baam uses a transcendent skill called Stardust on Kallavan, but it does not leave a scratch on Kallavan. Kallavan, disappointing at the lack of power, tells Baam that his mysterious power is too much for him to handle.
Elsewhere, Hwa Ryun has finished firing up the warp drive and the Last Station will soon warp away from the battle. However, Lee Xiawun has noticed their plan and had placed a bomb on the war drive long ago, with the trigger for the bomb in hand he tells them they will not escape.
Back at the where Baam is, Kallavan attacks, which forces Baam to try and use the second thorn fragment to defend. However, Karaka arrives to protect Baam and asks Kallavan about Jinsung, revealing that Jinsung is also Karaka's master. Karaka tells Baam to leave and come back stronger, so that Jisung's struggle was not in vain. Baam finally agrees to leave, with Karaka taking on Kallavan. However, Evankhell also steps in to defend Baam against Kallavan, stating her reason is the wound Baam gave to Kallavan. The wound is right next to the one Jinsung gave him, so he did not notice that Baam actually hurt him. As Baam and Androssi leave, Evankhell tells Kallavan that letting Baam escape was a big mistake, as he has shown a lot of potential. While Kallavan contemplates his mistake, Karaka and Evankhell team up to take Kallavan on.
Meanwhile, Jinsung is still alive amidst the remains of the destroyed ship, but Maschenny tells him she'll make "it" quick and painless.

This is the last afterword of 2018. This time here's Baam and Kallavan. So they signal the end of this year.
Since Kallavan and Baam is like a shonen challenging a high up, difficult opponent, I like the image they conjure.
I suppose this chapter... absolutely showed off the potential of the developing hero, Baam, without regret. And a chapter that showed the unusually hard-to-kill homeboy Jinsung's survival.

Baam, as shown in his duel with Urek Mazino, has a power that cannot be defined in terms of strong and weak, unable to be rivaled. That's the impression. I mean, Ha Jinsung's expectations on Baam ultimately came from his trust in the potential of said power. It isn't a stretch for Kallavan to be surprised at his growing wound.

In our big brother Jinsung's front, Maschenny may really end up becoming the master of last-hitting... If that happens, image recovery may be difficult haha.

And so 2018 comes to a close as well. I say this every year, but even more so this year, I would like to thank you especially this year for helping me do that I could upload Tower of God. Well, it's been a year I worked diligently this year, if I do say so myself, but there were a lot of disappointments, difficulties this year. I think to myself "I could do better", but there's always next year, so I would like to end this year believing I can do better.
