Weapons in NieR Reincarnation are used by playable characters in battle. They can be unlocked by completing story quests, exchanged for during events, and acquired through the in-game gacha system.

Proficiency[]

There are six types of weapons: one-handed swords , spears , two-handed swords , fists , staves , and guns . Characters receive full-stats from weapons which they are proficient with and half-stats from non-proficient weapons. Weapon abilities still provide full effects regardless of weapon proficiency.

Using a main-hand weapon that the character is proficient with will result in a 1-5 chain of basic attacks. Using a main-hand weapon that the character is not proficient with will only result in a 1-hit basic attack.

Elemental Affinity[]

All weapons also have an associated elemental affinity: Fire , Water , Wind , Light , or Dark .

• Fire affinity deals 50% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Wind affinity. In Arena, it deals 20% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Wind affinity.
• Water affinity deals 50% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Fire affinity. In Arena, it deals 20% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Fire affinity.
• Wind affinity deals 50% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Water affinity. In Arena, it deals 20% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Water affinity.
• Light affinity deals 50% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Dark affinity. In Arena, it deals 20% more damage to and receives 20% more damage from Dark affinity.
• Dark affinity deals 50% more damage to and receives 20% less damage from Light affinity. In Arena, it deals 20% more damage to and receives 20% more damage Light affinity.
