Overview[]

Legacy content refers to removed items that were not deleted or otherwise modified from player inventories and are still accessible. Such removed items can still be obtained via trading or player vending. Legacy content should not be confused with seasonal content.

Note that regarding Atomic Shop items or emotes listed as "legacy" on this wiki, this does not necessarily mean they are permanently removed as they have previously appeared on the Atomic Shop. An example of this is the list of emotes which lists many emotes as legacy content, but they have often re-appeared in the Atomic Shop. Additionally, existing legacy items or emotes may re-appear for sale in the Atomic Shop in the future, on a rotating basis.

With Update 41, a system was implemented to remove legacy mods and legendary effects attached to weapons that violate the game's EULA, in order to maintain the fairness of the in-game weapon balance. This change was first featured on the Public Test Server for Nuka-World on Tour, but was not implemented until January 2023.[7][8][9]

Notes[]

  • As of Update 36, the "Explosive" modifier on the Radium rifle is now attainable again.
  • With patch 1.7.2.18, Bethesda ran a script intended to remove all illegitimate or exploitative modifications on weapons. These were generally created by exploit or injection, and were commonly sold for real money on aftermarket sites.
    • The procedure scanned for weapons with slot modifications or legendary effects they should not have by intended system behavior, and blanked the mod slot without deleting the weapon.
      • These items with gaps in their physical model or legendary slots are still tradeable legacy items, though the vast majority no longer function in a non-standard way, or will not function at all until standard mods are attached.
        • The orbital strike cannon dev weapon is now a broadsider missing a barrel. Gamma miniguns are now missing barrels.
        • Weapons made entirely of illegitimately slotted mods were rendered invisible, and defaulted to the stats of the unmodded base gun.
    • Unobtainable cosmetic items such as the Black Knight and some ostensibly useless cut weapons such as the animatronic alien blaster were not removed. Some unused items like paddle ball mods were implemented in later updates.
    • The fix was intended to be run with the previous update, but was held back for additional adjustment on the Public Test Server.
  • With the release of Expeditions: Atlantic City, single rank perk cards and their animated variants were reimplemented into perk card packs.
