The Karate Kid Wiki

The following spoiler policy outlines how to behave and conduct yourself in the before and after an episode or seasons airing. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this spoiler policy, please contact an administrator for help. Before reading the spoiler policy, please familiarize yourself with our layout guide.

What is a Spoiler?

A spoiler, as defined by Wikipedia, is "any form of information which reveals an element, summary, or detail of any piece of fiction which gives away the outcome of a dramatic scenario. Since the enjoyment of fiction might depend on the dramatic tension and suspense which is built, the external revelation of plot elements can 'spoil' the enjoyment that some consumers of the narrative would otherwise have experienced."

What WE Are Doing

Before each episode airs, a pre-emptive page lock will go into affect for all major pages. Because the Karate Kid Wiki is one of Fandom's most popular wikis, we strive to have perfection across all of our pages. We will be using our best judgement in determining which pages will need locks and which ones don't. We believe it is in the best interest of the community for select pages to be locked, as it allows the admin team to add information to the pages that is both accurate, correctly formatted, and within our guidelines. It will also combat spam, trolls, and poor edits.

On average, we will be be leaving guest characters unlocked along with non-major locations and events.

This is not permanent. These protections for major character pages/events, on average, will last 1 week. The locks will be added some point before the season airs and lowered after the aforementioned time period. At which point, everyone can edit the pages once again! There will still be information to add and expand upon. However, anyone who doesn't follow the layout guidelines are prone to long blocks during these busy time periods to avoid spam.

What YOU Can Do

As an active user of the Karate Kid Wiki, it is your responsibility to understand and follow these policies. To avoid misinformation, please refrain from adding any content related to upcoming releases unless it is to the season page. This means that trailers, sneak peeks, images, and more, can only be added to their season or episode page until after the season or episode airs. We do not permit users to add upcoming content to character/location/event pages. Nor, do we allow the usage of language such as, "in the upcoming season trailer we see...", as this breaks both our POV rules and our spoiler policy. You can help minimize these edits by either informing the user of their indiscretion and directing them to this policy, or by contacting an active administrator for help. We encourage you to utilize features such as "undo" to remove these sections if/when they appear. If you are uncomfortable using such features, contacting users directly, or unsure how features work, please contact an admin instead of doing it yourself. We will also help you learn how to use the tool!

The Karate Kid Film Spoilers

Because the films have been released for over 20-years, any information pertaining to the films is not considered a spoiler. Every user who uses the wiki should do so at their own risk. The wiki is not responsible for spoilers or spoiler warnings regarding a concluded film series.

Cobra Kai Spoilers

As an upcoming/airing series in the franchise, Cobra Kai is covered by our spoiler policies.

Information considered a spoiler

  • Any major plot revelations given by a user who has seen the episode(s) in advance or has insider knowledge for any reason.
  • Because Cobra Kai may air at different dates in different countries, the Wiki will be basing its spoiler policies off the United States premieres. If a series is released in your region before it airs in the United States, please refrain from editing until the US has seen it.
  • We ask that you wait until after you finish the entire season to update our pages. For reference, a season is typically 5-10 hours long.
  • Behind the scenes images released by an unofficial/unverified account. We are aware that some fan accounts on social media release never-before-seen BTS images. These are considered spoilers and not permitted until after the episode they are from airs. If you are unsure when a BTS image takes place, wait until you see the closest scene depicted in the image to add it.
  • Any and all content released via a trailer is considered a spoiler and not permitted on any page other than the season it's from.

Information NOT considered a spoiler

  • Behind the scenes photographs released by cast or crew only.
  • Sneak peeks, promotional images, or any promotional content released by official accounts only.

Discussions

The spoiler rules outlined above apply to all Discussions and Message Walls. If you wish to discuss spoilers or leaks, please use our official Discord server. If you wish to discuss details about recently aired content in a post, a visible spoiler warning must be included at the top of the post. The post title must not contain any visible spoilers either. You must also leave enough blank space on the top of the post so that any spoilers are not visible unless someone wishes to click the post. Any posts discussing new content must also be posted in the "Spoilers" category regardless of what category you think the post best fits. A spoilers category allows posts to be filtered out more easily. Polls discussing newly released content will not be permitted. Any posts that do not adhere to spoiler policy will be deleted without prior warning. This policy is in effect for one month after new releases.

Consequences for Spoilers

If a user is found to have revealed spoilers that are outlined in this policy, they will only be given one warning. If the behavior continues, the user will be blocked for a time of 2-weeks. If the user returns and continues to break the rule, a longer block will be added.
