Secret Invasion is an American web television series, based on the Marvel Comics crossover event of the same name. The series is a sequel to Captain Marvel. It is the twenty-second television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the third installment of Phase Five. The series is produced by Marvel Studios and was released on Disney+.
The first and only season premiered on June 21, 2023 and concluded on July 26, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Season One[]
In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.[1]

On September 25, 2020, Variety reported that Marvel Studios was developing a television series centered on Nick Fury with Kyle Bradstreet attached to write and executive produce.[2]
On December 10, 2020, during Disney's 2020 Investor Day, Kevin Feige announced that a Secret Invasion series was in development for Disney+ with Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn set to reprise their roles as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively, in the series.[3]
On January 11, 2021, in an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige revealed that the series' first season would consist of six episodes.[4]
On January 18, 2021, it was revealed that the series was scheduled to start production on April 5 in Los Angeles.[5]
On March 15, 2021, Deadline reported that Kingsley Ben-Adir had joined the cast of the series and that he would portray the series' antagonist.[6]
On April 19, 2021, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Olivia Colman had joined the cast of the series in an undisclosed role.[7] That same day, it was reported that the series was scheduled to start production in the fall in the United Kingdom and Europe.[8] The next day, Variety reported that Emilia Clarke had joined the cast of the series in an undisclosed role.[9]
On April 30, 2021, Deadline reported that Killian Scott was in talks to join the cast of the series.[10]
On May 14, 2021, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim would direct episodes of the series.[11] The next day, Collider reported that the series was expected to premiere in 2022.[12]
On May 26, 2021, Deadline reported that Christopher McDonald had joined the cast of the series in an undisclosed role.[13]
On May 31, 2021, it was reported that the working title of the series was "Jambalaya".[14]
On July 1, 2021, in an interview, Christopher McDonald revealed that the series would start production around mid-August.[15]
On September 1, 2021, it was reported that the series had begun production.[16]
On November 12, 2021, Deadline reported that Carmen Ejogo had joined the cast of the series in an undisclosed role.[17]
On December 1, 2021, Deadline reported that Cobie Smulders would be reprising her role as Maria Hill in the series.[18]
On March 1, 2022, it was reported that Dermot Mulroney had joined the cast of the series and that he would portray Ritson, the new President of the United States.[19]
On March 11, 2022, in an interview, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that Martin Freeman would be reprising his role as Everett Ross in the series.[20]
On April 25, 2022, it was reported that the series had wrapped production.[21]
On July 23, 2022, at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the series would premiere in Spring 2023.[22]
On February 10, 2023, it was reported that Kris Bowers had composed the series' score.[23]
On March 27, 2023, it was revealed that the series would premiere on June 21.[24]
On October 11, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Thomas Bezucha, who had initially been set to direct three episodes of the series alongside Ali Selim, left the series due to scheduling conflicts, with his departure coinciding with the series' production falling behind schedule.[25]
