Name reference[]

Name reference: Is it worth adding in the behind the scenes section that the "cod" in Codsworth is likely a play on Cape Cod in Massachusetts in addition to being a play on Wadsworth?

Is it likely a play on Cape Cod? What makes you say that? JASPER//"Do you like hurting other people?"UserRichard 22:16, June 22, 2015 (UTC)
We can add that when we add that I think it's a play on Woolworth's 5 and dime. They had them in New England, to it must be why:P The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 22:45, June 22, 2015 (UTC)

Wadsworth[]

@DirtyBlue, I beg to differ on opinion on the Codsworth reference, there clearly a link. I don't see other Mister Handies with a "worth" in the name (like you claim), or even other robots in the Fallout series for that matter. They are both Mister Handy butlers in the start home location of the protagonist in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. It's a play. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 17:53, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

I checked, and you're right on the first count about the name. Nothing else though. Again, all the Handys are voiced by the same guy, there are many that serve as butlers, to the player or otherwise, and Wadsworth isn't in the "start home location" of the Lone Wanderer, he's one of two possible butlers (the other being Godfrey, who is identical to him in all but location) the player can potentially get as a quest reward depending on how you finish "Power of the Atom."--DirtyBlue929 (talk) 18:41, July 26, 2015 (UTC)
It is possible as a reference. I guess it all depends on his dialogue, whether he makes those jokes or not. ☢ Energy X ☣ 19:43, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

Is Codsworth "insane" (malfunctioning), in denial or just sarcastic? In his dialog I can't help but to notice how it sounds weird/out of place, almost as if he's seeing/thinking of something else, specially in fights. It just seems interesting to add this tad (whatever it might be) of his personality to the page. WhoeverReadThis (talk)WhoeverReadThis

Codsworth Floating on water[]

Are we sure about him floating instead of swimming? Mine doesn't do that, he'll wade through with the water up to his eyes, or even swim around under a lake with me. Andrea Grey (talk) 06:02, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Attacking Sanctuary Hills[]

Codsworth will turn hostile if you attack and aggro any settler at Sancuary Hills, no matter if you maxed out his affection or not. Morlord (talk) 03:48, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

'Tis but a scratch[]

I find it unlikely that Codsworth's "'Tis but a scratch" would be a reference to Mercutio's last words in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Not only was Mercutio's original text "Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch.", which is not even close to what Codsworth says, but the Black Knight literally says "'Tis but a scratch". I'm convinced that Codsworth's expression is a reference only to Monty Python, but I feel that removing it right away might sparkle some debate.
So I ask: does anyone think this might be a reference to Shakespeare after all?

Potential new Like?[]

So when you approach Diamond City from the river side you usually find 3 Diamond City Guards fighting Supermutants the next block over from Hangmans alley. Where theres a little blasted open store with a lunchbox, and the mutants are on a 3 storey building with scaffolding?

Well I came upon that with codsworth, and helped the guards. All 3 survived. Afterwards I talked to one of teh guards and he said "Not Afraid of Mutants, huh? Our kind of gal" and it came up with "Codsworth Liked This". Can anyone confirm this so I can add it? Khitrir (talk) 10:24, February 25, 2016 (UTC)

Age[]

I know Mister Handy is not human, but robots have ages just like dogs, trees, or any other object. Why was his age removed from the page? It seemed like an unnecessary removal. --Musiekutsueki (talk) 19:58, March 25, 2016 (UTC)

codsworth not engaging combat[]

with automatron dlc and melee build (3 chainsaw and 2 stealth blades), it is passive. It only attack enemies if i command it to do it. And it's incredibly deadly. --213.167.239.46 08:21, September 30, 2016 (UTC)

Availability as companion[]

"after completing the quest Out of Time or reaching Diamond City or meeting Nick Valentine before reaching Concord" I haven't finished "Out of Time" and am now in the middle of "Getting a Clue" but still can't recruit him. It should propably read "after completing the quest Out of Time AND..." HomerDOHSimpson (talk) 23:21, October 28, 2017 (UTC)

I'm absolutely certain you can recruit him after completing Out of Time and before completing Getting a Clue. Have you killed the insects yet?

Codsworth loves it when you join the Bos not like it

Death[]

One place on his page says he is essential and thus can’t die, another place says he can die. Both can’t be true. --Revan's Exile (talk) 05:06, February 2, 2020 (UTC)

Yes they can. He is essential at all times in normal mode; in Survival mode he is only essential during Out of Time, after which he can be killed.--DirtyBlue929 (talk) 18:10, February 2, 2020 (UTC)
Changed it on the page. Does this count for the other companions as well? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:36, February 2, 2020 (UTC)
