I think this universe is becoming fleshed out enough that we can do this site in a way similar to Wookieepedia: besides the "out of universe" articles like the movies and actors, we can keep the articles structured in an entirely in-universe biographical style. Streamlines things and makes it alot less clunky.DjMack 18:07, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

There is no "real" Wiki of one subject. Wikia allows multiple Wikis about the same subject. Besides, we do not WANT to edit on this Wiki out of dissatisfaction for how nearly everything is done here. -- {{SUBST:Signature/Master Sima Yi}} 08:58, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

I want to comment on the use of tenses on new information-- examples:

"Alan Taylor will direct Thor: The Dark World"

"Louis Ozawa Changchien will portray Renshu Tseng in Episode 5 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. "

"Ron Glass will appear as Dr. Streiten in Episode 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.."

Do you see the problem? While all of these examples were accurate when originally published, all have or will soon be outdated and inaccurate due to the use of "will direct" as opposed to "is the director of", "will portray" as opposed to "portrayed", "will appear as" as opposed to "portrayed". All of thee examples make the wiki look outdated almost as soon as new information is published. And nobody likes an outdated wiki. Now, I'm new to this wiki, but I think that it would be better to portray such information in the past tense right from the beginning, in order to avoid such instant outdatedness. And in truth, this isn't an inaccurate approach. Even though ep. 5 of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't aired yet, I'd call it a safe bet that Louis Changchien has already wrapped for the episode, making the past tense usage accurate anyway. I frixed a couple last night. ("Agent Carter" and "Dum Dum Dugan"), but there are A LOT of similar examples out there. Just hit "Random Page" a few times. It won't take long to find an example. One problem I see with the main page (And I bring it up here without making any changes because I've always felt that changes to the Main Page should always be handled by admin) is that here isn't any direct access (that I an see) to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. content. Agreed. The games aren't even canon (and as a result I would argue shouldn't have their own front page category), but the Marvel One-Shots are. All but (I believe) the first two even have their own movie-style posters now. SHIELD-Engineer (talk) 19:49, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, so I'm just a random user of this wiki and have notcied this section where the films are displayed and took the liberty of mocking up posters which just use the existing title cards (created a stand-in Spider-Man one for mean time). Thought it looked more appealing on the eye. If you guys really like them I can upload the full res images of the posters.

This Wiki is the MCU Wiki. By definition, non-MCU stuff doesn't belong here {{{sig}}}

What is the general thoughts on adding a section to the Media area with Movies, Disney+, Comics, Video Games, etc specifically for "Extended Universe" films and shows. This would be media that are technically connected to the MCU, but not formally, retroactively, or more-so of story driven cameo. Films such as Venom, Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, etc and potentially shows like The X-Men Animated series if the new streaming show truly will be connected to it. I understand that, what I'm suggesting is that this wikia should include them now that they are canon connected. It doesn't need to be more than adding them as an Extended Universe and having a stub page with "This movie exists" basic level of detail. Maybe at most, details on canon connections between the films and the MCU. I mean, Spider-Man already established Sam Raimi Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man and Venom are MCU multiverse canon. This extended universe could be required if the talks around Netflix Defenders MCU shows being decanonized has merit. Trailer-wise, it's seemingly confirming the Fox X-Men universe to be MCU multiverse. And it's reported that the new X-Men Animated series will continue the 90s X-Men Animated series...which is not currently MCU canon either. Maybe a better argument would be calling it an Extended Multiverse Media Section. EarthBoundX5 (talk) 06:58, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

@Shabook, I understand this is an MCU only wiki...but this is specifically around MCU multiverse canon. Not referencing the crossover films that are part of the MCU canon seems ridiculous? Based on the logic put forth here, the mentions of Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man franchises on the Spider-Man: No Way Home page should be purged as well. When I come to look for a list of all inclusive canon media to the MCU franchise, I'd expect to find it on the MCU wiki. I'm not talking about slight references, but confirmed in Universe canon. Phase 4 will clearly be HEAVY on the multiverse, which expands outside the scope of the traditional MCU...but the canonized MCU multiverse non-MCU films are none-the-less apart of the greater MCU. Please have a discussion here rather than forced archival / suppression of ideas per the edit above. A fandom such as this shouldn't be dictated by a group, but rather moderated. I completely understand that multiverse related concepts make things like keeping to the core difficult, but that just means they warrant discussion and debate to better the collective information for fans. Except it wasn't canonized. It's in the multiverse, sure, but it was never part of the MCU franchise. The Wiki is for MCU material, not every piece of media that has ever interacted with the MCU. We never covered the comic which showed Kid Loki (Earth-616) coming to the MCU universe briefly, why would we suddenly change that? The conversation as archived because you are attempted to come into a wiki and change a major part of the way we do things, when that isn't how it works. There is no such thing as "Non-MCU MCU-canon media," that doesn't make any sense. I understand what you were trying to communicate with it, but it's either MCU or it isn't. Suppression would mean deletion, Shabook didn't suppress anything, he just ended a conversation that suggested we cover material which has nothing to do with our topic. The other Spider-Man films are tangentially related to the MCU due to the No Way Home cameos, but that's about it. They are not part of the MCU and will not be covered by this wiki. -Jessica3801 (talk) 03:02, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
