Van Buren Missing Image[]

This was something I was going to discuss with Itachou, but seen as you brought it up and he is on holiday, perhaps you would like to listen to my proposal? I think that it would make sense to have an image that we can put on the pages without pictures together with a short explanation that there isn't an image which was included. I have drafted an image, and I can upload this to my sandbox and link you to it if you wish? It might make the pages seem more complete and also avoid people doing the same as I did. I really think this makes more sense than leaving them blank. I would be happy to mock some up for the other games, too? I truly believe that it will be better to have an image that can be put in on a game by game basis for pages that otherwise wouldn't have them. We could put it under the attention required category and so those that require changing can be, but ones like Van Buren that don't have them, and never will, should surely have something? I could even make them more specific if you like: quests, locations, characters, items etcetera could each have a different variant. As you can probably tell, I think this is a good idea, but of course I appreciate constuctive input. Thanks, .

Well the Geck has him as Doctor O, but as we all know, we don't include titles. Other example is Cassidy, who is simply called Cassidy in the GECK, but the page is given the full proper name of Rose of Sharon Cassidy. 0 is like the Master, it is the name they have chosen to be called by. As for the locations names, that's not to hard a task once it is decided. I can add them to the bot as needed (at the moment I have around 500 decaps already added to the bot) and I will be going through the items pretty soon. 13:05, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Well I am going to go through the pages and see what is already in place and make a personal judgement (obviously checking the talk pages where there is some conflict). At least there will be uniformity across the whole wiki in terms of upper lower casing for that item, instead of the current situation of having both across the wiki (and in some cases even on the same page). If the community decides it should be changed (i.e. like Porters pre-War thread) then it is a simple matter to change it in the bot and then rolling it out across the wiki. 13:17, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, Gavvy's bot has been constantly logging in and out in the chat, which is disrupting it terribly. I know it is there for logging what happens, but it can be really disrupting at times, and if it logs out the records are gone anyway. Yeah i does a lot actually, it picks up on about 3500 general spelling errors (borrowed from Wikipedia direct0 And I have coded in about 400 decap/cap terms myself. Plus I also got it to do a lot of formatting to the page i.e. removing section tags when needed, double spaced lines, fixing certain links. 20:15, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Normally copy and paste, when people move content around the page. Double space is the most common error and really annoys me. Other things it does is remove spaces between bullet points, spaces left at the end of lines, inserts spaces at the end of the section where there is no line space before the new section, removes the gallery width, removes the File: used by some inside a gallery, deals with spacing out the navboxes, cats and language links at the bottom of the page. But I have found the most common typo mistake is people typing the the. If you think of anything that you might want adding to the bot to do with layout etc. just let me know I can see if I can add it in. 20:28, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

I can do it of either the cat or game tags. So in other words I can make it find [[Missile launcher]] and replace it with [[Missile launcher (Fallout: New Vegas)|Missile launcher]]. Then I can set a simple parameter to only do this on pages that contain [[Category:Fallout: New Vegas...., but dont contain [[Category:Fallout 1... or [[Category:Fallout 2... or [[Category:Fallout 3... etc. That way it will only do it on pure FNV cat pages and not mixed content pages (such as an overview page). 21:10, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Lonesome Road content?[]

Well I don't know if you saw, but I think (at least I'm sure for one) that there are two objects added with OWB for Lonesome Road in the GECK (one have in its name NVdlc04 - typical designation for DLC item and with the number 4 corresponding to Lonesome Road, and the other NVDLC42 - may be a misspelling because the 2 but the NVdlc and the 4 is here).

One is called "NVdlc04diningtable01" (A dining table, I think it's the table for the encounter between the Courier and Ulysses during a cinematic or something): [2]

The other is called "NVDLC42RedRockCanyonArenaFence" (It have the same model and texture of the Great Khans arena in Red Rock Canyon but since the NVDLC42, it may be appeared in Lonesome Road): [3]

FNV robots & computers category[]

I noticed that several of the robots & computers weren't in that category and thought they should be added. If something appears in an add-on to a base game, does it not get categorized as something that appears in that game? I thought it did, so that's why I made the changes. If that's not the case, I'll consider this a lesson learned. Badges are neat and everything, but they're not my primary motivator. Legible, correct, consistent entries is. No texture OWB .nif files[]

Mine is fine, did you extract them to the right fold for NifSkope to be able to find them.

As for the missile thing, The bot is already coded to remove links on pages that direct back to themselves, so it would do anything like that. And the disambig link isn't using the normal wiki mark-up for links i.e it isn't inside [[]], so it wont be affected. 14:33, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

What you need to do is find where the file path is looking for the textures, then make sure the textures are in that folder. Press F2 and F3 then try and find something down the left side called BSShaderTextureSet. Now in the bottom bit expand the Textures tab by pressing the arrow and look for where it is looking for the textures, it should be in textures\nvdlc03\armor\nvdlc03patientgown\nvdlc03patientgown_D.dds (example patient gown) 20:53, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Chat moderation[]

I've left another comment at the latest staff blog regarding the chat feature's ban mechanic; if there's anything you'd like to add (or just add weight to my comment by confirming), please do :) I think if we can get more people to confirm that this is an issue, it might help with changes to the ban mechanic getting a higher priority.

I've also read your vote in the chat feature vote, and I agree it's an issue. I'm going to create a forum thread where people can name candidates for permanent chat mod status; hopefully having a couple of those will reduce the workload for regular admins. Any suggestions for criteria the candidates should have to meet? Image Query[]

Hi Jspoel. Hope your having a good day :). Nice images by the way. I was wondering what the rules are on nudity in images because Fallout 2 has nude posters all over the place, and to do my normal size character image, I'll have to have most of a poster in. Help or advice? .

I'm sorry. I meant that to have the image of the character the size I normal have them at, around (150x150), I would have a large amount of the poster in. I don't think this could qualify as sexy... I'll blur it a little and let you see. I'll tell you when I am done :). . P.S. I am not trying to push boundaries, it's just necessary to improve the image.

I love background more than any other thing and I still have lots of project in my mind (remake all vault page like Vault 101 for example and many others project - just lack of time). Sup Jspoel. Apparently, JackAlex13 - link here - has been acting bad in chat, cussing and insulting. Apparently he also left a message on my talk which seems like a threat if anything else.

Otherwise, I liked to have a particular designation for the entities of The Sink since they are not an artificial intelligence (no reflection on the world, no intelligent deduction, and also said by the SCIU that they are not AI) but rather advanced computers with specific abilities and able to speak. Armor images[]

File:Christine_recon_armor.png <--- shouldn't they include the front and back, rather than the male and female versions? I'm asking because there isn't any difference other than the waist cut for the gender variants of recon armour, while there is some interesting stuff on its back. I can understand doing that for metal or leather armours, which have two distinctly different looks, but for recon armour it's less informative than it could be. Doctor O or 0?[]

I'd name the page 0 (zero) because it's his real name - simple as that. We name our pages differently from the GECK in quite a few instances (removal of titles, adding first names etc), so I wouldn't assign too much weight to the GECK name in this instance.

Regarding the map marker images, I'm afraid I have bad news. As you might have noticed, I'm still working on the new infobox template (hope to finish it today or tomorrow though), and I'm going to be away between August 3 and September 6 due to work, my brother's wedding and a few other things. It's rather unlikely I'll make much progress with the mapping tools before I leave. Category question[]

Hi, Jspoel :). How have you been, I don't think we've spoken this week. I wanted to ask you if I could add an Enslavable category to the Fallout 3 characters as I feel it is important to group them. I won't need any help and would be pleased if you let me do it. I just think that it is important to group them so that 'slavers' can easily identify their prey ;). • I did my research first and I noticed that one, but they are slaves or ex-slaves confirmed in game, plus those from the Pitt. I mean the ones the PC can enslave, like Diego. Unless you are suggesting that I add them to this one?
• Diego can be messed, Mezzed I think is actually right, and then you can ask him to put on the collar and tell him to go to Paradise Falls for 250caps and another collar. This is different from that category as they are slaves already, or have escaped from being one. For example, Mei Wong who is an escaped slave, and so is in the category. Diego is not in it because he isn't a slave at the start of the game, and was never one.
• Turns out so can she, so theoretically she would fit into both :).

Renaming Mr Steel Page[]

I'm dropping a line to ask to rename the page Mr Steel to Mr. Steel. I know it's a little anal-retentive, but wouldn't it be incorrect to leave it as-is? I was editing the pages, not spamming videos or self promoting, but adding videos to the pages to provide another source of information. I see your actions as an insult since I spent time on those videos and you disregard them as spam. Mr. Janitor[]

Just for reference, he's not found lying in a dead position as the picture suggests, but rather in an inactive posture, sitting upright resting on his thruster with his arms folded neatly in; and he returns to that position when he completes his rounds. He's only ever seen splayed out like in that picture when he's actually dead, or presumably knocked down/out thought I've never knocked down or knocked out a robot. The maintenance robot at Helios One is in the same posture when he is found, and also returns to that posture when finished though he doesn't return to his pod. I just found it odd that his picture depicted him as being dead. If you found Mr. Janitor that way the first time, there may be a bug involved. --Kris 00:36, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Wild Wasteland image[]

I don't see why it is acceptable to have an image of an alternate version of the canon game. If one does not have the Wild Wasteland perk, the dog house has the name "Gabe" on it, not "Stripe", and the "chicken leg" isn't there, so that should be the picture for the quest as the quest itself is not a Wild Wasteland quest. --Saphireking65 00:10, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

I'm freaking speechless[]

Hi Jspoelstra, I have a rather interesting development for you.

I was doing the quest Bleed Me Dry and I was getting the deathclaw eggs in Quarry Junction.

I had all my gear. A complete set of Remnants power armor, a Anti-materiel rifle, I also had Cass as back equipped with a full set of T-51b power armor and a 12.7mm submachine gun and everything, I digress.

The Deathclaw mother is coming up a ramp and by her next to some sort of conveyor belt coming for me (So you have some Idea where I am, I'm on the more eastern side as well) . So I switch to incendiary rounds for my .50mg, go into VATS, target her head, click accept, the round goes straight to the head without hitting ANYTHING and... the round LITERALLY bounces off the deathclaw mother and even after it bounces off the VATS camera continues to follow the round until it hits a nearby rock face!!!

Has this happened before to anyone else, is this a bug to add, and if so where?

I've done this quest at least three other times, though I will admit this is the first time I have used the Anti-material rifle, but deathclaws aren't THAT tough!!!

Holograms[]

Sorry for changing the Health values for the Holograms but when I was checking out the GECK I saw they had 5000 or am I looking at the wrong place? Where are they in the GECK for future reference? I just downloaded and installed GECK 1.4 last night. Although my game is screwy and modded (one were activated though) I do know that Pew Pew for example fires only one shot per clip despite it should be firing 2. Can't find the answer to that one...

Chat mod issue[]

We have a bit of an issue with chat mods right now. Basically, Fly can't really stay for very long at the moment due to wi-fi issues, but if she leave chat there will be no mods online. I heard that admins can make chat mods so I was thinking taht you could help us (you being the only admin I knew to be online). I'd like to suggest that Yefpatterson should be made chat mod, he's a trusted user. What's more his timing works out that he's usually online.Although EB was next runner up to be chat mod, he's not online now, so him becoming one won't solve the issue.

Vault Boy icons[]

Since you are one of the most user that upload Vault Boy icon of FO3 and FNV items, I write a message to tell you that I'm in the process of renaming the category for better centralization, avoid duplication (since assasins suit and stealth suit mk II have in fact the same Vault Boy) and a most promising name (since FO1, FO2 etc. also uses icons but not Vault Boy icons). I almost finished for FNV armor and clothing, take a look here if you want (copy paste in the search bar):

Yes, it can be placed in the vault page since this kind of system only appears there (in fact I think it would be nice in the vault page to put some technologies that only appears in a vault like this below). Ho also a thing I've never said, I think it would be better to do images only in PNG because it is the format that contains the max of informations about the image (same image in PNG and JPG will not have the same number of information). And I noted JPG images can not be narrowed with the "px" code when they placed on a page.

I was on the Fallout: New Vegas locations page and saw so many capitalized locations that have been lowercased in the past that I thought I would change them to their actual pagename and not the redirect page.
