RehabReject[]

RehabReject yesterday starting things in chat when I was away. He said that I am being trolled by others in chat. I removed the 'should-be report' on your talk page because it was false. But I suspect that the users in chat yesterday really trolled me. --Gauzz Rifle ( talk  · contribs) 13:07, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Re: RehabReject[]

This is the beginning of the story. I have asked Rehab why Nemesis removed my adminship on his wiki. Rehab said he wants to annoy me. Then, the story of the trolling has begun. Chat conspiracy, admin rants, all of those begun. He used Cartman, and Cartman was clearly logged in and inactive in chat. I have made my mistake. Nemesis removed my adminship on his wiki for a reason. Give me a block for blaming other users. --Gauzz Rifle ( talk  · contribs) 13:22, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Wow, you can be stripped off your administration? I have still a lot to learn. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 13:25, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

About that debacle -.-[]

Yes, as I heard that my personal honour was at stake due to hideous accusations, I decided to skim through your talkpage's history. This is what I found. This, and the several changes following this one shows some quite unbecoming edits on Gauzz's part. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Gauzz Rifle[]

I have also investigated this incident and responded on his talk page. You might want to take a look and see what I wrote. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:31, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Addition, I have also discovered that Gauzz insulted other users in chat as well.
I am going to wait for a response about that edit we both posted about and determine it from there. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:02, September 12, 2011 (UTC)

Edit to my page[]

I'm sorry if the comment on my page came across as offensive. I genuinely didn't mean it to come across like that. I just put it up to tell people that simply disagreeing with a comment or their opinion is not "trolling". Every website I have been on lately, people have been harassing/reporting me (unjustly) for "trolling". Apparently, saying "Nothing against her, but lady ga ga isn't the greatest singer on earth" is trolling. That's the sort of stuff I've had to deal with. Once again, sorry.

Boulder City memorial[]

Hello! This probably is a dumb notion, but, I was wondering if the category 'Human characters' should be displayed on the mentioned characters of the Boulder City Memorial's pages. If I am correct, ghouls were allowed to serve under the NCR as well, and we can't really assume what kind of 'thing' they are? I don't know, just thought of this. Let me know what you think. Thanks! TwoBearsHigh-Fiving 01:47, September 13, 2011 (UTC)TwoBearsHigh-Fiving

I agree, it is presumptive to assume that they are human. While a large portion of them are likely to be human, not knowing which ones are humans or ghouls, means that we should not categorize them under either. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 03:16, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
I saw your post on Ghost's talk page and I would absolutely be interested in doing the work on that.

TwoBearsHigh-Fiving 03:40, September 13, 2011 (UTC)TwoBearsHigh-Fiving

I will do that background research, I'm sorry for jumping the gun on some of them, I will research that and will work on that for the next couple of days, and yes I would love to undertake that project.

I will look out for that as well, I'm busy with school and work but I will make this my main focus on here and try to finish this week. Thanks!

Ben Canning[]

Thank you for considering my notion on the Boulder City Memorial. As for Ben Canning, sometimes I do things without thinking them through all the way, I am a spur of a moment person, no excuse for making an uncalled for edit. For this I apologize. Let me know what you and Ghost decide. Thanks! TwoBearsHigh-Fiving 02:00, September 13, 2011 (UTC)TwoBearsHigh-Fiving

Finished with Boulder City Memorial revamp[]

Hey there Jspoel, Well I have finished going through the boulder city memorial, and removing the Human category in the infobox and at the bottom. I left the ones I did background on as human. It was absolutely absurd how many times 'soldier' was spelled,'solider'. Most of those misspells came from someone by the name of Shadowrunner56. Anywho, thank you very much for giving me a contribution opportunity, and I will look into the Fallout 3 mentioned only characters. TwoBearsHigh-Fiving 05:36, September 13, 2011 (UTC)TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Well doing this, I also thought that maybe making the BCM its own page would be a good idea? Let me know what you think.

About the Gold Chip[]

Thanks for reorganizing it, but I assure you to only give it out to those I deem worthy, it's not something I'll give out lavishly for no reason.

Edits[]

It seems that I have another theory - every time I do an edit that doesn't please some contibutors, they revert it. But when you and other administrators do similar (if not if same), they do NOT revert it back. So... to conclude, I guess every time I would need to ask you to edit this or that, or contributors like Scarface11235 will revert it and say they don't like it (and be angry at me, if they were with previous content).

So do you have any suggestions on what to do about it (excluding to become an administrator)? MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 17:35, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

If you have the time.[]

I would very much like your opinion as well regarding my question to Ausir. I mostly do minor to moderate edits concerning speculation/minor rewrites/unnecessary or excessive information (I'm sure you already know this, though.) and I have also done a few major rewrites that I'm quite proud of. (Such as Germantown Police HQ.) I would like to know what other areas you would advise me to focus on before contemplating whether I should put my name up for Adminship? Thank you for your time! Skål! 19:02, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate your input! I consider myself still fairly new so I already figured that I'd need to spend a lot more time on here before considering. (I went on a 2 month trip to Norway almost right after creating this account.) I'll try to be more careful with reverting information like that and maybe I'll see about trying the chatroom out soon to help out with the social aspect. ;) I'm happy to hear that I am in good standing right now and I will work to keep up my edits/image. Skål! 20:47, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Mediator.[]

On a different note: may I ask for your opinion on a recent debate that has come up between me and Cartman? You made a reference to him in your recent message so I figure you already know about it. I originally left a message for Crazy Sam but I haven't heard back from him so I figured I'd ask for your opinion on the matter aswell. Skål! 20:55, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

I understand both points, but maybe we should have it listed under a different category instead? Being a bug has always been an implication for a programming error. (That's what I believe anyways). What do you think? Skål! 21:22, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

"Computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways." This has opened my eyes to why I'm wrong in this case. I was just considering a small part of what a bug is. Skål! 21:35, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Music on talkpages[]

True, I probably could. But one thing I want to avoid, is making policy for every single aspect of the site. Otherwise things become to much of a bureaucracy. That I don't want, as it then becomes stifling. Also, as you have probably experienced many a time yourself, the policy then becomes the topic of argument with people contesting it, all based on its wording. To me, it is about striking a balance between community expression and policy. If it comes to it, then we can go down that route of implementing a policy on the subject. But I want to hear at least a few more peoples views before going down that route. Especially when the discussion thus far has been about auto players in general, until I brought up the topic of the different user pages (talk and main). I would like to see if the community can make a consensus on that point. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:03, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Another one[]

Hmmm, my concern for this release, is that while it worked in the past. This time there is actually 2 separate content packs with new additions being launched. This could actually cause confusion and make things worse. It might be more beneficial to create new sets of temporary templates labelled for LR and Gun Runners. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:10, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

If you feel up to it, you can create the templates and then add them to MediaWiki:Newarticletext. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:40, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
Lol, you posted at the same time as me. But personally I think it doesn't take more effort to copy and paste into new templates, then to edit the old ones. This little bit of extra effort could go a long way to saving extra work down the line, by correcting mistakes made by those with less wikia experience. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:44, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Cartman![]

I don't know if I should be introduced, but let me tell you something. Administrator named Cartman banned my friend, accusing him to be an achivement booster. I saw that he placed "Player character" role on a page (not sure which one) instead of Main character, but then he reverted. Few moments later, Cartman him because of the explained reason. Though the problem is that Cartman said that "I'm merciful because I could have you banned pernamently. I gave you 1 month of ban", and Cartman didn't revert the page back (should Cartman do that or not?). So can you give me some advice what to tell my friend (or Cartman, if possible?)?

Maybe you should have actually read the reason given on his talkpage then if you are his "friend" (which I highly doubt). And no, he reverted it himself so I couldn't revert it. His edits have been suspicious for a while, and for your information as this was his fourth offence he should have been blocked permanently so I was actually being lenient. Accept your punishment and deal with it. Also, sign your posts. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 19:17, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

Well how do you expect us to do anything without leaving the user's name? Undead Hat 19:14, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

MysteryStranger[]

That is the thing though, how many chances does he deserve? He has was blocked three times before, and I already decided against banning him permanently as a gesture of good faith, while also explaining that it is common practice to permanently ban someone in his situation. Before the ban I warned him (possibly twice) about his edit practices, and so did a few unhappy users. Then the next day he evades the ban, and then admits to who he is and asks for more mercy despite being shown extreme leniency beforehand. The problem is it doesn't seem like he's learning, and if we are giving this user so many chances compared to everyone else it stops being fair in my view. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 20:50, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

Ignorantia juris non excusat. Besides, those edits were made on pages with badges tied directly to them, the Van Buren character pages, and the history of achievement boosting is all there. However, if you really think he deserves it, I'll change the block to 3 months. Maybe we can finally consider this his last chance, and I'm still quite angered by his attitude when he evaded the ban and came back as his "friend". --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 21:52, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

Adding DLC icons?[]

Hi Jspoel,
I have a question for you: How do you make the icon for DLC, as seen on this page in the section where the Variants are? [[2]]? If you can guide me to something that would show me or if you can tell me, I would be very grateful. Thank you very much in advance!
Cat 04:37, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much for the template; don't worry, I would never attempt a blind edit at something I didn't have any experience in. But I am curious if it is okay to bring certain things I am not sure how to fix to the administrators' attention? I would have done that earlier on, a few hours ago, as I had another question as well when I wrote you that first message, but wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do or what the protocol here is. Thanks, Cat 09:04, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
  • Will do, thank you. Yes, I did read the Editing Guidelines, I appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction in the beginning, by providing the guidelines, etc. I will keep everything you said in mind. Take care and thanks again for your help with everything,

Cat 09:34, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, I loved the Chat link code, but something was up with the link; instead of automatically signing the name followed by the (talk) link, it seemed to paste the whole entire code into the signature. If I copied and pasted that code, for some reason, it would then work - but that was getting to be too much work and I wasn't sure exactly how to change it myself, so I just simplified it out of convenience. And yes, indeed, I am still waiting (and hoping) for my name change ... No word from them yet, other than the initial message awaiting their approval. I will most likely still be using my nick-name, aka, Cat even if I get the name change. So that won't change. =) Cat 10:00, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Combat armor[]

Because it's unlikely Obsidian would call it "army combat armor" because all the other Military Combat Suits in FNV are called "Combat Armour", and it's unlikely they would call it different. Undead Hat 13:54, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Jury rigging[]

I commissioned her to do it, it fills no purpose since it's clearly written in the infobox. It's like adding the magazine capacity of a rifle in the main body of the article, it's fairly pointless. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

I don't really see it stated as the info being added into both article and infobox. In fact, it seems like they decided upon only including it into the infobox, which both makes the article look more well ordered (as this info is mostly added as a standalone line), and it slims it down nicely. MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Blog comment[]

I see the character of James as an idiot, and I didn't start the discussion, it was a point in an argument. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 19:20, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

  • Testing my luck? You had a problem with one section, deleting the entire comment was unnecessary. I'm passionate about the subject and people were aware of that when they voted me in, I don't think all admins need to be emotionless robots for the sake of avoiding debate, something which I actually enjoy. The one area you pointed out about children I have agreed with, and it has been changed, so there shouldn't be a problem. Also I wouldn't classify something as flamebait if it actually consists of a constructive argument. I don't want to see the Vault become a place where debate is downright avoided. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 20:59, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

New achievement[]

I have not had a look through the Fallout 3 locations to see if the track is still needed for page improvements, so I will get back to you on that.

As for weapons and jury rigging, I had a bit of a chat with Scar today in chat about this. My view on that forum thread was to include it in the main content only, to save adding it to the already bloated infobox. The way I view infobox is as a quick reference guide to the key points of the page topic. Many things in infoboxes are repeated again within the main page content (e.g. related quests in locations and items, effects in consumables, skill mags/books and weapon mods etc.), sometimes they are expanded on and others they are not. I don't see that it is a requirement to include the jury rigging info into the page content since it was voted on to have it also in the infobox, but I also don't see it as wrong either since it was voted to be included in the info. I guess it all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I don't feel that jury rigging should be included in any way, since it is not a characteristic of the weapon, but of the perk. But alas, that it very much a hopeless battle since so many people wish to include the info. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 02:49, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

My ban[]

You blocked my ip for insulting other editors yesterday. The only reason i insulted him was beacause 1. He didn't say why FNV was a bad game, only it had no improvements or extra features, when it cleary did have many improvements. 2. He said it was worse than fallout 3 but provided no reasons why, so in my reply i told him why it was better than fallout 3 and i gave reasons something he failed to do. Also this is my user profile i said in the comments i am the first anon so im not evading a ban and im pretty sure you can edit talk pages during a ban. Also i wasn't the only one who his comment was just an insult to fallout new vegas. Also why is my ban one week rather than 3 days? is it beacause my previous ban was three days? of you reply could you reply on this users talk page?.

Edit Question[]

Sorry for any inconvenience here, but another member has brought up that my edits were incorrect in this article: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Lobotomite. I wanted to come to you about it, since I concentrated on editing the punctuation in the article to appear like this: "example," (punctuation inside the quotation marks) instead of how it was punctuated in the article, like this: "example", (punctuation outside of the quotation marks). Throughout the article, the punctuation was written incorrectly in that manner, so I corrected it accordingly. Are these edits okay or am I in the wrong, as he said? Your insight is appreciated whenever you have the time, thank you, FalloutGirl talk 14:46, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thank you, I will proceed with the corrections then; could you inform FourWayDiablo of the changes so there are no more misunderstandings between us? Not trying to make more work for you, but I don't think he has much faith in the corrections I made, as I've tried to explain my corrections more than once. He seems like a nice person, and I don't wish to alienate him. Thank you as always,

FalloutGirl talk 15:12, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Oops, I had already begun the editing process. As a former reporter and editor, I feel I must be correct regarding punctuation being inside the quotation marks; in my field of work, punctuation outside of quotation marks would have been completely unacceptable. But you're the boss and I will await your decision. I just have one concern: Since this is the way I feel sure about, and if this particular article has been edited incorrectly by me (due to punctuation), I am worried about punctuating and editing future articles, since I have never seen the punctuation placed outside of the quotation marks. Let me know, and thank you for looking into this matter. I know your time is valuable and I appreciate it always. Thank you, in advance,

FalloutGirl talk 15:26, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jspoelstra,

Just to let you know that I edited the lobotomite page during this back and forth, removing the suspect words. Not to cloud the issue, which is interesting and relevant, but to improve the page. The wording seemed messy, and some info was speculative (i.e. the "leader" of the lobotomites). Didn't think we'd opened a can of worms. :-)

All the best, --FourWayDiablo(talk) 15:33, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Punctuation and Quotations, proper[]

Unfortunately, I don't see the difference, and am concerned that will cause me quite a bit of doubt/confusion in editing future articles, which causes me some hesitance, as I do want to continue to edit but am starting to doubt what I have known all this time when it comes to grammar and punctuation. I am very confused at this point. You and FourWayDiablo have my apologies, I will leave that article to someone with a bit more know-how... Thanks again for sorting this out, Apologies to both you and FourWayDiablo FalloutGirl talk 15:41, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[]

Thank you, I appreciate it... I just don't know quite what to say right now. If my edits are only "ok," in my mind that means sub-par and that's not what I want to be. I appreciate you being one of the nicest people I've met here at the Vault. Thank you for your compassion. Yours truly, FalloutGirl talk 16:09, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your words, it's just that I don't want to be "Ok" and nothing more. I'm finding I'm becoming less and less confident on here, not more confident as you said, because everything I do is called into question, reverted, and erased (i.e., I stopped adding images because every one I added was taken down or criticized. As of today, I have stopped editing punctuation, because even though I know I have talent in that area, somehow that has become only a doubt in my mind now.) Losing myself as I mentioned in the tbi blog entry, comes forth in a big way today, in knowing that I lost not only all the other things I mentioned, but the best part of me, the job I did best - which was editing. It goes to show that I really have not gained that much since my accident. So it's a little more painful for me.

About that bad morning...[]

Thanks, Jspoel, for your understanding and for leaving me a message when I was feeling pretty down on myself. I appreciate it a lot. I won't give up. I was feeling like giving up earlier, but again, it was a bad morning and also, I hadn't slept all night so I think I was a little more easily upset over the reverts than I normally would have been. I had a short nap, so I'm feeling a bit better, and also feeling very lucky to have people like yourself and Scar and FourWayDiablo and Gears of Duty around to help me through some of the tougher times. And I will never stop being grateful for knowing you. As I was telling FourWayDiablo, as an Admin, you know when to get the stick out but you've been very welcoming of me here as a new member and nothing like that ever goes unnoticed by me. Thank you for your kindness. I do feel lucky to know you, and I am happy to be here at the Vault with some very nice people. FalloutGirl talk 18:33, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Opinion on Heavyweight.[]

Hi Jspoelstra,

Do you think the Heavyweight perk should be included in the infoboxes of the relevant affected weapons, or left as a line of text in the Notes section?

All the best, --FourWayDiablo(talk) 16:26, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, thats what I've been doing. I asked because Jury Rigging has recently been stated as unnecessary in the text as it's included in the infobox. Thought this would be the same, "perk(weight)" for example. --FourWayDiablo(talk) 16:59, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
I have had a little thought about this whole subject. It seems that people wish for the page to include perks. So I have come up with a option, why not have a related perks section. Just like the related quests option or even the weapons mods section (which have the same kinda effects as perks) which are already included. What do you think? Twin Mothers Fields[]

Sources is a non-standard section, the scripting was technical info for the benefit of the area designers (and were not included in any of the Nursery pages), and AFAIK, district pages (like this one) belong in a location-specific subcat rather than the main VB locations cat. The removal of appearances was a mistake from redoing the page from the ground up, sorry about that. --Strong Suit 17:55, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Wow, I'm quite sorry for my mistakes. I honestly didn't realize that information was not needed on those specific types of pages, and I genuinely thought I was helping/contributing. Holodisks and Notes[]

I have made my first page, Strip Gang Report, as you have probably seen. It had an incorrect spelling on the "raw game data" page, as far as I know. They look really strange and I'm not sure how to fix them. I was thinking source mode but that didn't seem to work. Second, I don't completely understand how to get a terminal entry template. I had a look at some, but they weren't single ones, only big groups of them. I'm not sure what a single one is supposed to look like. And lastly, I can't really do this as well as you can, with relation to the quests, as I don't have a G.E.C.K (Xbox player), so I'm going to have a hard time making quest references. I'll try my best though. I'm still in the process of adding in links and relevant information (I think so, anyway), such as what I did to Buttercup.

Snowglobe.[]

Yes, I noticed. I highly doubt that they wouldn't add a snowglobe for this dlc, but I figured it would still be safe to keep that up. If you feel that way, I won't revert it again. Skål! 01:40, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Could you plz give me the details of my block =] --92.26.153.81 01:49, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, my name is Who_is_Atlas? on here, it says that my IP address has been blocked by posting. What gives? I don't think that I ever insulted the administrators here at all; in fact, I hardly ever post...

Who_is_Atlas?

I think I've been accidentally banned. I've only posted once and that was a month ago. I did not "insult other editors".

Ban[]

I think my ip has been accidentally banned. I've only posted once and that was about a month ago. I did not "insult other editors".

I don't seem to remember insulting anyone in the comments, I think there might be a misunderstanding.

Yea, you blocked me, I don't even have an account on this wikia. please unblock me, this looks like a simple mistake on your part, i dont want to take this higher up and see some kind of disciplinary action against you, lets fix it.

Hey,

So, I'm browsing the news articles today, and i noticed this:

The block was made by Jspoelstra.

Reason given: Insulting other editors Start of block: 19:25, September 15, 2011 Expiry of block: 19:25, September 22, 2011

Any particular reason here....? Last comments this Anon left were "Or Rammstein , Weisses Fleisch, if you are going in with a minigun."

Humm.... I doubt that saying white flesh in German whil refering to a song is insulting to other editors... But, whatever. Just pointing out that you banned me for no reason.....

Lonesome Road Bowie Knife[]

I was wondering if you had picked up the DLC yet and could tell me anything about this knife. Like if the page name on here is correct? User:Great_MaraMessage 19:46, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Alright. It's not out on PS3 yet here either. :( So far I've just been making page format corrections. Things like capitalization and organizations. A lot. >_> User:Great_MaraMessage 19:55, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Another quesion, should it be 'Auto-Inject' or is it improper an should be 'auto-inject'? User:Great_MaraMessage 20:09, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Why?[]

Why, may i ask do you keep reversing my edits on dry wells? =] --Matsudiro 21:19, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

I see. Well since the dlc's new. Why don't i move it to the "layout section" until someone whos better with words than me can write a layout? --Matsudiro 21:42, September 20, 2011 (UTC)

Vault policy.[]

Policy on The Vault is that talk pages are for discussion of the page, not idle chatter, so it actually isn't sitting just fine there. The guidelines clearly state that something like that ought to be placed in the forums.--OzzMan 13:58, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

  • Very well, I have no wish to cause a dispute. I was only doing what I thought was the correct thing as laid out by the policies and guidelines. I apologize if that served as inconvenience to you.--OzzMan 14:14, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Arc Welder[]

Hello my friend ;), long time!

Why (Lonesome Road) for the arc welder? The heavy incinerator of Fallout 3 is called "Heavy incinerator (Fallout 3)" not "Heavy incinerator (Broken Steel)", policy have changed about that?

Also, "Arc Welder" is a non-proper name, so it's arc welder I think =). Itachou [~talk~] 14:04, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes but actually, all DLC weapons have (Fallout 3) or (Fallout: New Vegas) after their names, like Samurai's sword or Heavy incinerator (Fallout 3). People doesn't know exactly the name of all DLC and if it's a DLC for FO3 and FNV can have problem with this type of naming.
Anything can be a weapon, the H&H Tools nail gun is a weapon even if it's a tool first. The arc welder can be a tool first like the real world and evoluted into a weapon, keeping the same name. Itachou [~talk~] 14:23, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

Armor images[]

Hello my friend ;)

I always like your images, but in another point, the GECK images are pretty nice too and add something different of yours. I thinking, we can keep your images as always on the infobox and put a GECK render in the gallery section, I also saw that some people prefer the GECK render and with that way, everyone will be happy =). What do you think?

I would see your reply tomorrow it is late in France I'm going to sleep. Good night and see you soon Jspoelstra! Itachou [~talk~] 23:07, September 22, 2011 (UTC)

Well, i'm glad you took my message into consideration. I would have done the images myself but alas, I don't have Lonesome Road for the PC. So thanks again. And also how do you put a picture next to your signature and for that matter how do you make a custom one such as SaintPain's? Sincerely, --Tim to the Adams 23:17, September 22, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I remember this topic but alas I was not here for contribute. All reasons you have give for the NIF renders are the same as I thought and that why I also prefer to have it in the infobox.

Yes the GECK renders is more alive and also a more faithful representation of the model in-game, I think it is better for a direct immersion with the Fallout universe unlike NIF renders made to be neutral.

I will ask the opinion of Ghost on the subject, thanks for your opinion my friend and see you soon, I'll let you know the opinion of Ghost if you want =). Itachou [~talk~] 07:45, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Reaver Movement[]

Hey my friend, you remember when I talked about my future improvement on the Reaver Movement? It's done, I finally finished after several hours of work! You can now know what I meant about Be'alza-Gates or Satansoft =). Itachou [~talk~] 14:35, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks =). Actually it's funny but I think I take the same but sometimes more pleasure in doing this kind of thing (especially articles with buried information) to actually play Fallout games... well I think I'm pretty strange sometimes haha!
Outside of the information about their origins coming from Gareth 'Section8' Davies on Duck and Cover forums, all informations are in dialogue files and in-game. Since Fallout Tactics (and also Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel) are less RPG than other Fallout games, I think people are not so careful about the amount of information discoverable in dialogues or even in floating texts. Actually, the majority of information about them are in these two dialogues files:
Reaver Movement was a page really abandoned, that why the large amount of information added that lacked on this page, next pages will be more soft I think (actually, one thing that is sorely lacking on The Vault are the vehicles of Fallout Tactics, there are many new compared to other Fallout games, I'll try to take the time to create the pages). Otherwise, as my English is not perfect editorially, I think that the grammar should be checked ;), hehe sorry about that my friend! Itachou [~talk~] 15:41, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks again Jspoelstra ;)! Even if I do this for nothing personal just for improving the background of the Fallout universe, it remains quite nice to see that someone sees my work and my many hours associated with them.

After I finished Lonesome Road, I'll take care in priority the GECK renders of armors and Fallout Tactics vehicles. Still trying to find a way to see the damn 3D models or be able to take videos or screen of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, I have many saves throughout the game but just the lack of means blocking me.

Anyway, I will continue my game on Lonesome Road, have a nice evening my friend and see you soon! Keep up the good works as always =)! Itachou [~talk~] 19:45, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Sunstone Tower[]

Sunstone Tower is not the same location as Sunstone Tower Roof. It is the interior location you pass through to reach the roof and it has it's own layout, enemies and notable loot (including a skill book). I think it therefore qualifies for its own page. --Actreal 23:27, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Perk section[]

It isn't just doubling up on the perks (considering the infobox only really covers perks that affect damage, plus Jury Rigging). The issue, as I feared would happen by allowing jury rigging in, is that now people have started to contact me about adding in others, such as Heavyweight that affect weight. Potentially there are many other perks that can be added to the infobox that affect various attributes of the weapon, weight, health etc. And I am starting to worry that the infobox is going to get overloaded if we continue down this path, so I was contemplating suggesting adding in a related perks section to help relief the issue with the overloaded infobox, and move some of it out of there (e.g. Jury Rigging), plus allow others to be added. If you think about it, related perks are not really direct characteristics of the weapon itself, but connected by the way they effect the weapons performance. But the same could be said about weapon mods, since we allow those and also Jury Rigging, we by all rights should also include others. It is just something that has been bouncing around in my head and I just wanted to get your view on it before suggesting it in the forum. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:10, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

Achievements[]

I agree with what you have done so far, as for the rest. VB still needs some work, so I would continue them to encorage the work that needs to be done. LR quest, there are really to few quests to warrant a track, plus I doubt anyone could get the top award (without doing one word at a time) and wouldnt be enough to give everyone equal opportunity in my view. LR was surprisingly poor and lacking in content other than the main story. And I would agree with adding it to the site notice since that is now over and there isnt anything else to add at present. Do you know how to change it btw? User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:52, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

The difference between the 2 is that one if for the Wikia skin (Community-corner‎), and the other if for the Monobook skin (Sitenotice, you can view this on any page if you add ?useskin=monobook to the end of the page URL‎). And Sitenotice id ‎if I have read it right, updates it (monobook again). For example, if a user has dismissed the previous pop up, it forces a new pop up. So you really only need to change the Sitenotice id ‎when you have added something extra, but not when you are removing something. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:41, September 25, 2011 (UTC)
OK, that seems like a general Wikia issue, might need to be reported to them. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:17, September 25, 2011 (UTC)

Vault Boy icons[]

Hi Jspoelstra ;)!

I saw you are on the Vault Boy icons of GRA, pretty nice that somebody takes care. Just a heads up, don't forget to put the categories that I set up (depending but for GRA it's):

  • [[Category:Gun Runners' Arsenal weapon Vault Boy icons]]
  • [[Category:Vault Boy images]]

Since that will avoid me many works in the future. Many Vault Boy need to be reformated with the proper categories but for now I'm really not motivated for that, and there are many.

I really would prefer if you didn't move it back either. It works fine, and I have something in place for emergencies, so I cannot see the problem. I will welcome your critisism though :). GRA[]

I thought it best to name them all for continuity with the in-game names and ease of search, for those who are not familiar with our normal practises i.e. the readers. As with most other things, I tend to do the name in the infobox the same as the page name (same kinda practise wikipedia uses). As for the rest, well that can be either (or even the full unabridged name), as long as you reference it in a manner that distinguishes from the base game weapon.

How do you make a page like the one you have? I'm new to the Wikia and I can't seem to find any guide on how to make one --Jooshmond 23:59, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

Just a bit puzzled as to go about that particular edit, and if you're up to it, I'd really appreciate the help. Still learnin'. item splitting[]

You might want to read User talk:Gothemasticator/Archive 7#Stimpak (Fallout 3, New Vegas), then User talk:Nitpicker of the Wastes/Archive 6#Multiple game titles. Then get back to me on your thoughts after reading the convo.

As for the weapons thing, I don't see it as a requirement. I would say it could be seen as a nice opening sentence - since it further defines what the object is. But on the other hand, it could end up going to far - with other other attributes being added (example XXXXXX is a Energy Weapon skill, hold out, craftable etc. weapon). In the end you could essentially put the whole characteristics section as the opening sentence. Overall, I think it is best to just define what it is by item, without the addition of the items defining characteristics (Best to leave that info for the characteristics section of the page). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:29, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it should and should have been done (one of many things that still need doing). But looking at the differences, they definably have enough difference to warrant separate pages. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:37, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't realise you were aiming for your birthday now, but I had noticed you were getting close. Why not on the year mark? If there is anything I can make for you or give you (on here obviously) for your birthday, just ask. Itachou's the day after, and mine on the 25th... October is a good month it seems. That sounds great. Your wish is my command ;). I'll add somethings like that, did you want it to read 50000 club? I'm glad you do have an idea, as I was trying to think of something for the last few hours when I saw your birthday was coming up. My profile pageCome and say hello

Transcluded Pages & 50,000 Edits[]

Hi Jspoel, Thanks for the info. regarding the transcluded pages. You did an excellent job of explaining and I do think I get it. It was very helpful. I will find out if I get it, when I get back to editing anyway, lol (busy week here and sorry I didn't reply 'til now).

And on a separate note, I wish you a very happy (early) birthday. Hope you reach your 50,000 and that your day brings you much happiness :o)

Hattsmimion[]

I would dispute that my avatar is not offensive simply due to the facts I list here. One, Fallout is a game rated M for mature, features f-bombs, major violence and sexual elements. Two, I never enter chat, and never plan on entering chat. Three I have seen much worse avatars that include swearing, near nudity and violent elements. Four, I don't make waves nor do I talk with anyone on the site, I only check for information to make decisions in my game and very rarely edit a page. Five asking me to change my personal profile page I feel is out of line. It is my page to add to and edit as I see fit as far as I was lead to believe from wikia it self.

I appreciate that you find the avatar offensive and I am sorry for it but I find it sums up who I am nicely, and as I said I do not interact with anyone on this wikia and again have NEVER entered the chat. Please keep in mind this is not exactly a family friendly game either. I also do not believe I am in any violation of wikia's policies. In the 20+ years I have used this picture in my accounts across the web you are only the second person who has complained about it.

If you cant find the above agreeable then we can discuss it further but at this point I do not plan on changing my avatar. I would also point out that other than adding my name to the picture today, this is the same avatar I have had since I created my wikia account.

Hopefully we can both be adults about this very small and minor matter and not have to speak about it again, or make a big deal out of it.

Thanks for your time and reading this whole long thing.----Hyattsminion 06:50, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Archive pages[]

Thanks, J. Those archive pages had been around for ages, and it only just occurred to me to get them deleted. I've had issues with that darn archive tool before, hopefully the new wiki message wall will be easier to deal with! Yes Man default 10:44, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Ah. Well, now I feel a little bit silly! Oh well, thanks for the help. I'll get the hang of it! Yes Man default

Archived talkpages showing up as wanted pages[]

That can't be fixed, I'm afraid - it's a core MediaWiki issue with the parser function used to check whether a page exists or not (#ifexist). Basically this function always generates an invisible link to the page it's checking, and if the page does not exist, this results in that invisible link being treated like a redlink. Unfortunately there is no alternative to using that function (or at least none that doesn't generate an even bigger number of redlinks), so it's something we have to live with.

Just so you're aware, both {{Archives}} and {{Overviewpagelist}} generate these "fake" redlinks; the former is responsible for the redlinked archive pages and the latter (potentially) for redlinked overview pages. Some time ago, I've reduced the number of redlinks they cause to a reasonable minimum, but there's no further improving on that unless the MediaWiki problem with the parser function gets fixed, sorry. -- Porter21 (talk) 11:43, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
